I added the free Yahoo! oneConnect - yes, it is now available - on my iTouch, which is the third app

I added the free Yahoo! oneConnect - yes, it is now available - on my iTouch, which is the third application I use to access Facebook on a mobile device. First is via Blackberry; second via iTouch Facebook application. Now, via oneConnect. I'm sure applications like HelloTxt will add their own iPhone app with similar integrations as well.

Yahoo! oneConnect allows me to sync my Yahoo Contacts and view contacts that are online available to chat. You can add other accounts including Bebo, Dopplr, Flickr, Last.fm, MySpace, Twitter, and Youtube. Once these applications are added, you can view your friends' statuses via the Pulse feature: a Friendfeed type of service without the comments and likes.

Tapping on a status opens the friend's profile in separate browser. The addition of Twitter on my oneConnect account unfortunately obscures the other apps' status updates. I have to consider removing Twitter on 1C.

I recommend using oneConnect, especially if you're a Y! Messenger user. It simplifies accessing your contacts and messages.

...and allow you to keep in touch with what's happening across all of your different social networks - via your mobile phone. Really interesting - I just hope they have web integration as well as it would be nice to familiarise with a single aggregation service across multiple platforms.

Link.

I've recently been questioning RSS as a channel for absorbing the 'noise' of different networks. For me, I'd like to separate out my social interaction (which I see as an ongoing social dialogue) from my day-to-day feed consumption. It just feels too cluttered.

And one other thing I've noticed is the value of a good email newsletter. Lo-tech, huh??! I subscribe to the daily Urban Junkies newsletter, and it's a really well crafted piece of content that points me at some of the best things that're going on in London. If I had the RSS feed it probably wouldn't keep so much of my attention - which makes me think that the increased relevance and personalisation of content is key for many of the different 'trusted voice' web services that are out there at the moment.

Contacts. oneConnect will integrate your Yahoo! address book, mobile phone, and social network contacts in a single access. You can classify Favorite friends and would be able to locate them with integrated mapping.

Conversations. Communicate via email, IM, and text and be able to archive conversations. Communications are available via Y!, AOL, MSN messengers and mobile text. oneConnect will let you know if user is online or not, and if not would propose text as option instead.

Email. Emails will be sorted Gmail-like with in-context sorting. oneConnect will work with AOL, MSN, Y!, and Gmail.

Status. oneConnect will show your recent status updates on social networks like Bebo, Friendster, Facebook, and others. You can also update oneConnect to post to your networks like Twitter, MySpace, etc.

Pulse. oneConnect Pulse feature is similar to a FriendFeed timeline update of your online activities. You will be able to see your friends' Flickr updates, or travel status with Dopplr, the instance they make updates.

Here are some networks to be supported by oneConnect: Bebo, Friendster, MySpace, Dopplr, hi5, Twitter, Facebook, Last.fm, Flickr, LinkedIn.
