5. “Agua Mala” (Air date: February 21, 1999 ) – X-Files “founder” Arthur Dales (Darren McGavin) calls the agents down to a trailer park in Florida where a family has disappeared. With an impending hurricane closing in, the agents become trapped in with residents and find out that something is in the water.

Trivia: Darren McGavin starred in a TV show called, “Kolchak: The Night Stalker,” which Chris Carter cited as an influence on “The X-Files.”

4. “Pilot” (Air date: September 10, 1993 ) – In the episode that started it all, Special Agent Dana Scully is sent to report on the findings of one Agent Fox ‘Spooky’ Mulder, a leading FBI psychologist who has taken on a “pet project” of going through the agencies “unknown cause” files, hence, the “X-Files.” They immediately fly up to Oregon to investigate the deaths of high school students, which Mulder believes is related to alien abuction.

Trivia: Scully had a boyfriend named Ethan Minette. His scenes were cut before broadcast.

3. “The Host” (Air date: September 23, 1994 ) – Assistant Director Skinner gives a “grunt work” assignment to Mulder as “punishment”: go down to Newark and investigate a body washed up in the New Jersey sewer. Mulder and Scully investigate, finding the “Flukeman.”

Trivia: The “Flukeman” was played by Darin Morgan, who would later become a writer on the show.

2. “Darkness Falls” (Air date: April 15, 1994 ) – A group of loggers disappearing in Washington State National Forest reminds Mulder of a similar case 50 years prior, and both agents go to investigate. They soon find themselves trapped in a cabin trying to ward off ancient flesh-eating insects that only come out at night.

Trivia: This episode was honored at the Environmental Media Awards.

1. “Home” (Air date: October 11, 1996 ) – A baby is found in shallow ground and the agents travel to Home, Pennsylvania to investigate and meet a sheriff named Andy Taylor (Tucker Smallwood), his deputy Barney Paster (Sebastian Spence), and a family that has been inbreeding for generations.

Trivia: This is the only episode of the “X-Files” to be banned from airplay. It would take another 5 years for FOX Network to show it again.

In short, X has been an ass lately. He's been blowing me off and ignoring me and pretty much keeping me out of the loop. That's probably the part that bugs me most. You're going to stay late at work? Awesome, that means some extra bucks! But you're not going to send me a quick text and let me know about that? Then I'm going to have to sneak into your dorm room and knock on your empty room door while images of injuries scare me silly.

Okay, so I'm a little overdramatic. But I'm a clingy girl. And honestly, I just want to know where you are. Period. And then I will be completely content sitting in my dorm room watching Veronica Mars and eating too many cookies.

I guess it wouldn't be such a big deal except that this shit ALWAYS HAPPENS. He always conveniently forgets to call me, to put his phone back on ring after a class, or to charge his phone when it's dying. He also tends to forget plans and fall asleep about a half hour before a date.

AND, I am still missing a birthday present. Which he did not give to me when he did not attend my birthday party and he did not even call me on my birthday.

I got a birthday text message at 10:45pm and I am still pissed about that.

So honestly: am I crazy? To date or to dump? That is the question...

El nombre de mi país es un tanto particular debido a su pronunciación, aunque se escribe México, se debe pronunciar 'méjico', y  aquí en España, y Argentina, es correcto, para ellos, escribirlo así, Méjico, porque argumentan que se dice con jota, no con equis, y en mi estancia en España, no he querido discutir nada sobre éso, pero como meXicano, me molesta que escriban el nombre de mi País de manera errónea. Pero de ahí surge la pregunta: ¿Porqué México se equis? ¿porqué la 'x', a veces de dice como jota, a veces como 'sh', como 'chi'?

Primero, en nombre oficial de México es Estados Unidos Mexicanos, pero y el nombre de México, ¿de dónde viene? ¿porqué lo escribimos con equis?

La palabra México siginifica 'Ombligo de la Luna', en Náhuatl, lengua indígena mexicana. Esta palabra proviene de Mexitli, que está compuesta de metztli (Luna), xictli (ombligo) y co (lugar).

Según otros autores, el nombre de México proviene  de 'mexica', denominación que los aztecas se daban a sí mismos en honor a su dios Huitzilopochtli, llamado también 'mexi' o 'mexicall'. Este último nombre parece provenir de las palabras nahuas citadas en el párrafo anterior. Otros autores, sin embargo, señalan que el nombre de México se refiere, más bien, a una isla ubicada en el centro (ombligo) del lago Texcoco (lago de la luna). En esa isla, los aztecas habrían presenciado el prodigio del águila devorando la serpiente, por lo que fundaron allí su capital Mexica-Tenochtitlán.

Ota posible etimología es que México deriva de la palabra nahia meztilli, que signicia 'lugar de mezcales' (el mezcal como el cactus del que deriva el tequila).

Por tanto, México  NO es una palabra castellanizada por un español que creyó escuchar 'mejico' y que escribió México. Y las razones las digo a continuación:

1. No existen letras en náhuatl (o nahoas en el idioma náhuatl).
2. Los españoles aproximaron sus letras a la fonética náhuatl.
3. Los sonidos de la lengua náhuatl comprenden las siguientes letras del idioma castellano, que aproximadamente suenan así:
A-C-CH-E-H-I-L-M-N-O-P-Q-T-Tz-Tl-U-X-Y-Z
4. NO EXISTEN LAS LETRAS:
B-D-F-G-R-S-J-V
5. La letra jota /J/ del idioma castellano de España es pronunciada por ellos desde la garganta, separando la lengua del paladar. La X de la lengua náhuatl de México se pronuncia con la lengua pegada al paladar. Es diferente fonética, pero de una gran similitud, aunque no precisa.
Los españoles asociaron la J de ellos con la X de acá y por eso SUPUSIERON que por tener fonética similar, así se escribía.
6. A través del tiempo, en México se ha seguido una línea fonética propia, que se ha ido diferenciando de la original española; y esa evolución es respetada por nosotros, aunque en España no la acepten. Es como los argentinos y su lunfardo, que es igual de respetable. Por eso en México, la pronunciación de las letras /s/, /c/ y /z/ son iguales. Se escribe la palabra zapato con z, pero nosotros los mexicanos la pronunciamos como si fuera sapato con s, como otras muchas. (Cita de la usuaria Brenduchis)

Hoy, en México, la x tiene cuatro diferentes pronunciaciones: 'ks' en taxi, 's' en Xochimilco, 'j' en México, 'sh' en Xola. No hay regla posible, ya que las razones son históricas: los préstamos indígenas tempranos, como Xochimilco, se adaptaron a la fonética hispana (S), los nuevos se conservan (Xola), aunque hay decenas de palabras donde cada quien pronuncia como le viene en gana: Xicotencatl, Xoco, Xico...

Así que en México, con nuestra fonética propia, el uso de la 'x', y su distinsta pronunciación, es algo que ya nos distingue, y que me da mucho orgullo poseer.

La RAE admite que México se escribe con x, pero sólo como recomendación, admitiendo que con j es igual de correcto, quisiera que admitan que el único uso correcto, en español, sea México, con equis, sin recomendaciones ni nada, si aceptaron palabras como güey, cantinflear, chingar... ¿porqué no colocar como única forma correcta en español, México?

La grafía recomendada para este topónimo es México, y su pronunciación correcta, [méjiko] (no [méksiko]). También se recomienda escribir con x todos sus derivados: mexicano, mexicanismo, etc. (pron. [mejikáno, mejikanísmo, etc.]). La aparente falta de correspondencia entre grafía y pronunciación se debe a que la letra x que aparece en la forma escrita de este y otros topónimos americanos  conserva el valor que tenía en épocas antiguas del idioma, en las que representaba el sonido que hoy corresponde a la letra j. Este arcaísmo ortográfico se conservó en México y, por extensión, en el español de América, mientras que en España, las grafías usuales hasta no hace mucho eran Méjico, mejicano, etc. Aunque son también correctas las formas con j, se recomiendan las grafías con x por ser las usadas en el propio país y, mayoritariamente, en el resto de Hispanoamérica.

No queda claro en que momento, entre 1779 y 1821, cuando se acuño el termino Mexicano, pasó la fonía de “sch” a “j”, pero es indiscutible que por ser nombre propio, por estar legalmente reglamentado y porque nace de una topofonía que escapa a la regulación de la academia española, México debe escribirse con X, igual que Texas y Oaxaca.

Así que desde aquí, agradezco a los que ya lo hacen, y pido a los que no, que escriban México, y no méjico, porque para los mexicanos, es como si escribieran mal el nombre de ustedes, es como escribir Arjentina, Ezpaña, Brazil, Venesuela... ¿suenan igual no?

La j en México la usaba don Alfonso Junco, motivo por el cual -justa vindicta- don Armando Fuentes Aguirre escribía su apellido con equis en sus columnas, y al referirse a él: "don Alfonso Xunco". Otro ilustre lexicógrafo, don Francisco J. Santamaría, también escribía "Méjico''. Pero don Pancho tenía otras rarezas, tales como negar la existencia de la letra ye. Habría escrito él: "Méjico lindo i querido''.

Me pregunto si los académicos mexicanos compartían entonces el criterio de sus colegas españoles. Si no, debieron emprender una cruzada para evitar que la Academia siguiera incurriendo en esa irritante imposición y pretendiera enseñarnos cómo debíamos escribir el nombre de nuestro país.

El lema de la Real Academia de la Lengua es "Limpia, fija y da esplendor''. Referido a la lengua, ese "slogan'' lo usó la brillantina Glostora en su publicidad. Pues bien: la palabra "México'' es más limpia, tiene mayor fijeza y se ve más espléndida -por la hermosa equis- que el voquible "Méjico'', tan ajeno a nosotros. Alguien le preguntó a don Ramón María del Valle Inclán, insigne escritor español, por qué había venido a México, país tan violento y tan remoto. Contestó el hombre de las barbas de chivo:
-Porque México se escribe con equis.

El gobierno ha contactado con aliens en muchas ocaciones, pero esto ha permanecido oculto durante 60 años. Me di cuenta de muchas visitas de OVNIS a la tierra durante mi carrera en la NASA, pero cada una de ellas fue encubierta.

Fuentes en la agencia espacial, los describen como pequeños seres que lucen extraños para nosotros. Son similares a la imagen tradicional de cabeza larga y ojos grandes con un pequeño cuerpo.

Nuestra tecnología no es ni remotamente sofisticada como la de ellos y si fueran hostiles, ya no estaríamos aquí - nos habrían eliminado/esclavizado/sodomizado jajaja horrible, no freaks?-.

Me siento privilegiado al ser parte del hecho de que hemos sido visitados y que el fenomeno de los OVNIS es real.

Ha sido muy bien encubierto por el gobierno durante 60 años, pero lentamente se ha filtrado información y algunos hemos sido privilegiados de informar acerca de eso.

En declaraciones publicas de la NASA, un vocero afirma:

La NASA no esta relacionada con el fenomeno ni con encubrir la existencia de formas de vida extraterrestre en el planeta o en cualquier parte del universo.

Bueno freaks, esto no es "los grandes misterios del tercer mi-leño", para ponernos a especular sin bases y solo porque es un astronauta reconocido, éste diciendo la verdad, en mi opinión, éste es un sujeto creíble, por ser casi una fuente directa, aunque como siempre en éste fenomeno, no ofrece pruebas, ni documentos palpables, por lo tanto no se le considera verdad. Otro punto en contra de su credibilidad es el usar una estación de radio cañera para hacerlo.

Esta no es la primera vez que se relaciona a la NASA con teorías conspiratorias, y encubrimientos, hay bastantes que tienen explicaciones y otros son fraudes.

No dudo que haya vida en muchas partes del universo, y si han estado visitándonos pues deben tener motivos muy extraños para no mostrarse públicamente. Recuerden que ya llevamos bastantes décadas emitiendo ondas de radio hacia el universo, no deliberadamente para delatar nuestra posición, pero funcionan como un faro. Probablemente conozcan una forma para viajar grandes distancias. No nos queda más que ser humildes antes la idea de que nos somos exclusivos en el universo y el hecho de que nuestra tecnología sea lo único que conozcamos no quiere decir que sea la mejor. También recuerden que la forma en que la vida se originó probablemente fue por material "importado" por asteroides y cometas, técnicamente somos de origen extraterrestre - y la tierra es un pedazo de materia flotando por el universo-.

Por otra parte, el fenómeno de los OVNIS - OVNI, no implica extraterrestres por definición - es real a comparación de muchas otras pseudociencias y fenómenos paranormales, por desgracia la mayoría de los "investigadores" desconocen el método científico, y lo único que han hecho es que el fenómeno sea objeto de burlas, al lanzar programas que solo muestran una y otra vez - en su mayoría - casos fraudulentos y alguna entrevista "pedorra", citando a Maussan (en el caso de México) y la extraña gente que colabora con el. Citando el caso de Johnathan Reed; el contacto que mismo Maussan tuvo; y - al gran charlatán - Georgio Von Giovanni y sus estigmas falsos, suponiendo que el fenómeno sea real, no implica que sea obra de dios. Por el lado ecológico, Maussan es el único que mete las manos, talvez debería limitarse a este aspecto - que si le reconozco-, y dejar al fenómeno OVNI a verdaderos investigadores (científicos). Lo menciono porque seguramente el domingo estará diciendo que tiene "la primicia" con un astronauta de la NASA y que "ahora si, se vienen cosas increibles".

Bueno, apasionante tema, pero si no se trata con argumentos solidos, quedas como un orate. De rato freaks, talvez otro día le dedique un par de post a este tema, pero no esperen cuentos de ciencia ficción.

I guess I've just been feeling kind of down lately. Things aren't going too well with X, so between work and events, I've been losing myself in television shows. It's like I have no desire to live my life right now. Can't I just skip to the happy part where things with X are awesome and we can get married and have children? Hell, I don't even care if it's X. I just want a solid, neverending relationship in my life.

Besides Veronica Mars, one show that I've started watching is The Secret Life of the American Teenager. And while I admit that I watch it, I actually don't even like it that much. It's like a poorly acted-out infomercial trying to persuade tweens not to have sex. Which I think is a good message, and I think that the tweens can't even sense that ABC Family is just feeding them a 1-hour dose of Health class every Tuesday night.

Anyway, besides the manipulation of tweens, I don't like it for the stereotypes. The hardcore Christian girl wears a promise ring, the slutty girl secretly wants a relationship, the main character gets impregnated by the drummer at band camp.

Too bad it doesn't really happen like that, though. Because truth be told, I was much more like the slut than the angel in high school.

During high school, I only had 3 "real" relationships. These are the ones where we officially called each other boyfriend and girlfriend, etc etc. One was a remnant from the 8th grade, which I promptly dumped a few months into high school. One only lasted about a month during the summer going into 9th grade; he dumped me (over voicemail, I think), because he hooked up with a girl when he was on vacation in Spain. And the last was O, perfection during the spring of my senior year.

In between, though, I had a great deal of "fake" relationships. About 20, actually. They ranged from one half-hour makeout session to months of "watching movies" and "studying" almost every night.

To give myself a little credit, though, I wasn't a complete slut. The majority of them ended at kissing and were completely no-strings-attached. A little bit of flirting, a couple minutes alone, and that was all. No mess. No drama. I loved it.

Because of the casualness, though, I'm not going to lie and say that each and every boy made an impact on me. Obviously some of them did, but I prided myself on being unemotional. I remember a lyric from The Starting Line that completely explained my thought process:

"It's easy to lie when you're so unemotional."

The boys were sort of a mix between my safety net and my independence. While I sort of used the boys to justify myself, I also prided myself in not needing a boy full-time. And for the vast majority of my time, I was happy.

After O, I tried to go back to my old ways but it never really stuck. I guess I grew out of my stage of random hookups before I even left for college. I had a couple of flings, but then I met X and claimed him as my own. But I think this is why, at the end, I am still hanging on to that last thread of X. Because I have no desire to throw myself back into the shark tank. I've already dated around, I'm ready to settle down.

So... are there any 20-year-old guys who are decently attractive, witty, funny, and feel the same way?

Yeah, I didn't think so.

10. “Hell Money” (Air date: March 29, 1996) – A string of Chinese immigrants are found dead, with various internal organs missing. Scully and Mulder team-up with Detective Paul Wong (Wiry Man) and find that the investigation leads to “hell money;” Chinese immigrants selling their organs for a chance at a jackpot of money.

Trivia: James Hong and Lucy Liu appear in this episode.

9. “Pusher” (Air date: February 23, 1996 ) – Robert Patrick Modell (Robert Wisden) has the ability to manipulate minds. He finds a worthy adversary in Agent Mulder, taking him into a dangerous battle of mind over matter.

Trivia: Nirvana drummer and Foo Fighters member David Grohl and his wife, Jennifer Youngblood-Grohl, can be seen in the background as Modell enters the foyer of the FBI building.

8. “Syzygy” (Air date: January 26, 1996 ) – Mulder and Scully investigate a series of deaths of high school kids, thought to be committed by a Satanic cult. When people begin changing and their internal personalities come to the forefront (Mulder drinks, Scully smokes) the agents find that the “changes” are brought about due to a rare astrological occurrence and two girls who were born at the exact same moment in time.

Trivia: The name of the episode, "Syzygy", is an astronomical term for an alignment of three bodies of the solar system along a straight or nearly straight line.

7. “Clyde Buckman’s Final Repose” (Air date: October 13, 1995) – A killer is offing fortune tellers and it’s up to Mulder and Scully to stop him. His latest target is Clyde Bruckman (Peter Boyle) who can see how people are going to die.

Trivia: Peter Boyle won an Emmy for this episode.

6. “Jose Chung’s ‘From Outer Space’” (Air date: April 12, 1996) – Author Jose Chung (Charles Nelson Reilly) is researching a book on alien abduction and enlists the help of Agent Scully, who admits to loving the author’s work. As the story progresses everyone has a different “take” on what really happened, even the “alien abductors” themselves.

Trivia: Wrestler Jesse Ventura and game show host Alex Trebek played “Men in Black.”

15. “Hollywood A.D.” (Air date: April 30, 2000) – Agents Mulder and Scully investigate a bombing at a Christ Church and Scully finds a bowl that, after being acoustically analyzed, has an unearthly sound to it. Is it the sound of Jesus’ voice or really an incantation to raise the dead? Meanwhile, Skinner is talking with a Hollywood friend. It seems that a movie is being based on the ‘X-Files’ and Scully will be played by Tea Leoni, Mulder will be played by Garry Shandling, and Skinner will be played by Richard Gere.

Trivia: David Duchovny wrote and directed this episode as a “thank you” to the cast and crew of the show.

14. “X-Cops” (Air date: February 20, 2000) – Agents Mulder and Scully are investigating a monster that feeds on fear while an episode of “COPS” is being filmed. Mulder eats up the spotlight while Scully cringes from it.

Trivia: This episode was shot by the same cameraman from the “COPS” TV series.

13. “How the Ghosts Stole Christmas” (Air date: December 12, 1998 ) – Mulder convinces Scully to investigate a supposed “haunted house” on Christmas Eve where a couple (played by Ed Asner and Lily Tomlin) made a lovers suicide pact years previous. What follows is trickery by the ghosts themselves.

Trivia: The role played by Ed Asner was originally written for Bob Newhart, who turned it down.

12. “Gender Bender” (Air date: January 21, 1994) – Mulder and Scully investigate a series of murders which are identical and sexually-motivated. The killers appear to be male and female. They are led to the small town of Stevenston, Massachusetts where an Amish-like group called The Kindred whose members have the ability to change sex.

Trivia: Nicholas Lea plays a hospitalized victim in this episode. Producers and fans liked him so much that he would later return as Agent Alex Krycek.

11. “Beyond the Sea” (Air date: January 7, 1994) – Scully’s father (played by the late Don S. Davis) passes away. While Mulder interrogates prisoner Luther Boggs (Brad Dourif), Boggs displays a psychic connection to Scully’s father. Mulder is skeptical and believes Boggs is just buying time.

Trivia: This was the first episode in which Mulder was shot.
