   https://*.microsoft.com, da kemudian klik Add. klik OK.

4. Klik Custom Level, kemudian pilih Enable untuk item dibawah :
   Download signed ActiveX controls.
   Download unsigned ActiveX controls.
   Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe.
   Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins.
   Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting.
   Klik OK, dan klik OK sekali lagi untuk keluar dari Internet Properties.

setelah reboot n selese instalasi service pack 1 ternyata theme GlassGlow q balik ke tampilan classic (lihat gambar 4). Itu dikarenakan file uxtheme.dll, themeui.dll dan shsvcs.dll yang telah ter patch sebelumnya (untuk menjalankan theme GlassGlow ketiga file tersebut sebelumnya harus di ganti dengan file yang sudah dimodifikasi (patch) terlebih dahulu) ditimpa oleh file original dari SP1. Untung saja punya tuh pacth yang buat SP1, jadi tinggal di ganti aja file originalnya (sebelumnya harus di take ownership dahulu) akhirnya theme GlassGlownya jalan lagi deh. hehe... Oya, Waktu boot jadi tambah cepet..

Windows Vista Service Pack 1

Microsoft lanzó al mercado la versión beta del Service Pack 1 del Windows Vista. Se comenta que con este SP1 ,  la computadora está más estable, y algunas tareas, especialmente la copia de archivos, llevan menos tiempo. Pero se esperaba más del SP1, como más performance y ajustes para las reclamaciones comunes del Vista, incluyendo el tan criticado control de cuentas de usuarios.

Las principales características del Service Pack 1 Release Candidate Refresh (nombre oficial del archivo beta para bajar de Internet) incluyen estabilidad, seguridad y desempeño. En la descripción del SP1 Microsoft menciono diversas mejorías por ejemplo, soporte para algunos padrones, como EFI y exFAT, y mejor compatibilidad con software y periféricos.

En el aspecto estabilidad, Microsoft dice que el SP1 reduce el tiempo que lleva para el boot y para apagar una computadora con el Vista, así como con el tiempo que la maquina lleva para despertarse después de pasar por el modo hibernar o cuando el protector de pantalla se encuentre activado. Arreglo también los 10 segundos de atraso entre presionar las teclas CTRL-ALT-DEL durante el boot y la aparición de la ventana con el usuario-contraseña.

Por último, Microsoft dice que mejoró el desempeño en el gerenciamiento de archivos y carpetas. El SP1 va a reducir el tiempo que se lleva para extraer archivos de y para una carpeta compactada (zipada)

As you can imagine, these files, which are required to allow you to uninstall SP1 and revert back to the original version, can take up a large amount of hard disk space. In fact, the files can take as much as much as 800MB.

However, if you are positive that you want to stick with Vista SP1, you can remove all the leftover files and reclaim approximately 800MB valuable disk space by using the SP1 Files Removal Tool. Fortunately, this tool is automatically installed on your system as a part of the SP1 upgrade procedure.

Before you run the SP1 Files Removal Tool you must be absolutely sure that your system is functioning perfectly with SP1. The reason being once you use the SP1 Files Removal Tool, you won’t be able to uninstall SP1.

If you suspect that your system is encountering compatibility issues with Vista SP1, you may want to hold off on running the SP1 Files Removal Tool, because you may need to remove SP1 as a troubleshooting step. E, de acordo com pelo menos uma fonte, a Microsoft lançará o Windows XP SP3 na próxima segunda-feira. Na quarta-feira, o arquivo Windows XP Professional SP3 5503 (com 568MB) estava disponível na rede BitTorrent.

De acordo com a descrição no arquivo, a Microsoft lançará a versão final do SP3 em 24 de Março, mas o build 5503 passa em todas as verificações do WGA e é capaz de baixar atualizações, algo que os builds anteriores do SP3 não permitiam. Isso sugeriu para muitos que este build possivelmente seria o RTM.

Quando a Microsoft lançou o Vista SP1 em Fevereiro, a versão RTM era idêntica à versão Release Candidate (RC) 1 Refresh 2 que foi disponibilizada para os beta-testers duas semanas antes.

Um porta-voz da Microsoft, entretanto, disse que a versão final do do XP SP3 deve ser lançada ainda no primeiro semestre de 2008 e que o build 5503 foi apenas um build liberado para um pequeno grupo com uma correção para um problema específico encontrado por alguns beta-testers.

A Microsoft removeu do Windows Update, serviço de atualização automático para seu sistema operacional, a correção KB937287, que prepararia o Windows Vista para seu primeiro Service Pack (SP1).

A remoção foi feita para fins de análise após queixas de alguns usuários que, em vez de terem seus computadores preparados para o novo pacote de segurança, viram seus PCs entrando em um círculo vicioso de reinícios, conforme noticiou o site The Inquirer.

"Imediatamente após recebermos notificação deste erro, decidimos temporariamente suspender sua distribuição automática para prevenir novos impactos aos usuários enquanto investigamos as possíveis causas", explicou o gerente de programa do Windows Vista, Nick White, em seu blog, acrescentando que o problema aconteceu apenas com um pequeno número de usuários.

O site InformationWeek informa que este não foi o único problema relacionado ao primeiro Service Pack para o Windows Vista. A Microsoft adiou a distribuição do pacote de atualizações até que se resolvam problemas de compatibilidade com alguns drivers que controlam periféricos como mouses, teclados e impressoras.

Sendo assim, o Vista SP1 estará disponível apenas após meados de março para download no Windows Update, e possivelmente em abril como download automático. A instalação em computadores com problemas de drivers será rejeitada e os usuários que resolverem assumir o risco poderão tentar instalar o pacote alternativamente via download manual no site Microsoft.com.

O aguardado Vista Service Pack 1 trará mais de 300 melhorias para o novo sistema operacional da Microsoft, entre elas correções para problemas no Live File System, transferências de grandes arquivos via rede, e melhorias em redes virtuais privadas.

I just don't get it. Now approaching what, SEVEN years in development and Vista STILL isn't compelling? Microsoft has had over a YEAR to do SP1 and in some cases performance actually gets WORSE?

XP might not be the best thing in the world either, but at least I know what to expect from it because I've used it at work for so long. I was going to give Vista another shot when SP1 shipped, but now it looks like it's just not worth the effort.

I remember when I first installed the Vista gold code. It was on a nice new machine, too. Within 28 hours I had reverted back to XP.

Microsoft has released a complete list of fixes accompanying Vista Service Pack 1, totaling over 500 changes. Microsoft has once again confirmed that Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) will not be available to the general public any sooner than mid-March.

Valve has released a Beta Steam Client which has a range of improvements and fixes, including improved download speeds and faster launch times. If you want to try this new client, start Steam and under the File>Settings menu go to the Account tab and click the Change button under Beta participation, then select 'Steam Client Candidate' and restart Steam.

Last weel Microsoft released Windows Service Pack Blocker Tool Kit (a small download of 96kb) which will allow users to temporarily prevent installation of service packs through Windows Update. [See the link below]. This toool kit will apply to both Windows XP Service Pack 3 and Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (each for 12 months following the general release of these two Service Packs). The Vista Service Pack is currently under restricted beta review and is due for release in the first quarter of 2008. It will be the first major update since Vista's release in January this year. This toolkit gives users control over when they decide to download and install it and is recommended until more reviews become available.

The first Vista Service Pack will include the function of creating a recovery disk as well as defragment individual hard drives. Overall, it will include a lot of hidden tweaks that should result in a faster and more reliable system including a better performing Internet Explorer Web Browser.
