There's some good news coming from the GDC for any of you Final Fantasy fans, Square-Enix is bringing the gaming engine used in Final Fantasy 13 and Versus 13 to the Wii. Taku Murata, the Square-Enix manager behind the unveiling, gave the world the news of the recent name change. Previously known as the White Engine, Crystal Tools is now getting overhauled to not only work on the PS3, but the Xbox 360 and PC as well.

Though the Wii's version is in the early stages of development, he did confirm it is coming. This doesn't mean another version of Final Fantasy is due to hit the console nor a remake of any kind but it doesn't rule it out either. Nevertheless, Wii owning Final Fantasy fans should definitely cross their fingers.

Back in 2006 there was talk about an MMO being developed by their team, but little else was ever mentioned. Now a brief blurb on Taku Murata’s GDC page mentions that he will be talking about how a new game engine dubbed White Engine “will be used for FINAL FANTASY XIII, new MMORPG under development, and other titles in the future “
