The sound generated by these video's is both strangely rhythmic and abrasive, suggesting, or at least alluding to, the rather graceful and aggressive underlying nature of the web. These "sound translations" (in a manner of speaking) of content generated, stored, and sent on the web seem appropriate reminders of the ways in which the backend/behind-the-scene's - or more simply, code - that supports the infrastructure of our growing GUI based Internet is actually overwhelming and frantic, unlike it's clean facade. Also it confronts the long standing love/hate relationship between GUI and CLUI. By running this python app in the terminal, and having the output dump there, mark splays open the web's cleanliness to create a green and black avalanche.

This project reminds me to the days hearkening back to "alternative browsers" made by I/O/D and JODI - WebStalker and Wrong Browser respectably - and the browser wars that emerged as the internet moved more towards a GUI based system. Mark puts the web into the way back machine (to a certain extent). Because we've adapted to our click-able web the result of our metaphorical time travel is aggressive and unnavigable.

Il y a quelque chose de rare qui se dégage dans ce montage vidéo. C'est sans doute un bel hommage artistique rendu à la plus noble des conquêtes de l'homme.

A l'heure où je vous écris, cette vidéo a été visionnée plus de 4.056.460 fois sur dailymotion. Ainsi donc, le succès trouve parfois ses raisons dans des choses aussi simples qu'authentiques, il fallait le souligner.

Un jour, elle découvre les joies d'internet et se met à squatter quotidiennement l'Apple Store de New York. Tous les moyens sont bons, alors elle se met à créer un blog, une page Myspace et utilise les avantages du service communautaire de Facebook pour réaliser son autopromotion.

Il faut bien avouer qu'en plus de son physique, la petite Isobella a séduit par sa détermination, sa générosité et son caractère. Aujourd'hui, elle a 25 ans et elle est devenue une top model qui fait parler d'elle. Elle donne beaucoup de conseils aux autres filles pour réussir leur casting ou leur shooting, notamment sur des détails auxquels elles ne pensent pas forcément. Isobella est active aussi dans des clips musicaux et des campagnes de pub pour de grandes marques comme LaCroix ou Apple.

Son livre 'Presque 5 pieds et 4 pouces' qui sortira au printemps prochain aux éditions Harper Collins, racontera ses galères et comment elle a su saisir toutes les opportunités proposées par un autre support média qu'est Internet. "La pire des choses est de ne pas saisir toutes vos chances" vous répètera-t-elle sans cesse.

I stumbled across a very poetic online interactive story recently (Even though the makers themselves call it 'a game'), called 'the graveyard'. The only character in this story is an anonymous elderly lady who you walk across an ominous graveyard towards a bench. On this bench you sit the old lady down and a Flemish song starts. If this song isn't your cup of tea, you simply get up and walk out of the graveyard again. End of game. Well, end of the demo game that is. You can also buy the full version which doesn't add much...or: adds everything. The full version also provides you with the possibility of death. (let's hope that they do not mean the possible death of your hardware or yourself.)

The images of the short walk are really nice, they give you the actual feel of being on a rainy stormy graveyard at the early evening. visitors that are born 'n raised in the computergame era will undoubtedly start looking for ways to shoot enemies that jump up from behind tombstones, but I didn't see any enemies, nor weapons. The walk towards the bench is slow and your character obviously has difficulty walking. Annoying, but you also start to feel sorry for the old lady. Then, when she sits down the song starts playing and a lot of different possible storylines go through your head. That experience is what made The Graveyard worthwhile for me.

Conclusion: I recommend this Graveyard experience to anyone that would liek to have a bit of a poetic online experience.

Já há vários museus virtuis nacionais famosos, entre eles podemos destacar o Museu Virtual da Arte Brasileira (MVBA). Esse projeto tem como ideal reunir um acervo de tamanho considerável sobre os principais nomes da arte nacional, discriminando por período histórico e que futuramente deverá vir a ser um centro de referência.

Apesar de ainda ser um site pequeno, comparado com museus virtuais internacionais, ele já apresenta uma estrutura interessante na relação alcance/patrocínio.

Mas o que representa um museu virtual? Quais são suas vantagens em relação a um convencional? A resposta é o que está mais na moda na realidade virtual, a interatividade.
Com um museu virtual pode-se "andar" pelas galerias sem perder tempo de deslocamento ou ter gastos com transporte, além de ter muito mais informações sobre a vida do artista e suas obras, como acontece no MVAB, em que sempre há dados sobre as obras.
Outra grande diferença é a possibilidade da exibição da Arte Computacional, ou WebArt. Essa "nova arte" tem a capacidade de ser extremamente interativa e integrativa, reunindo a lingüística, a imagem e a sonoridade, tudo isso em uma só obra. Eis o que chamamos de multimídia.

Os museus virtuais regados de WebArt são já parte do hoje, e com certeza ganharão maior importância no amanhã, pois além de darem a comodidade de não ser necessário nem ao menos sair de casa para ter acesso à arte, eles inspiram as pessoas a quererem conhecer pessoalmente as coisas que vêem naquelas páginas.
O certo é que esse mundo virtual irá facilitar para que todo dia seja um dia de arte. Este blog, por exemplo, é um paralelo destes museus virtuais, à medida que transmitimos diversas informações sobre o que está acontecendo no mundo da arte, e você pode ter acesso a essas informações tendo apenas um simples acesso à internet.
Por hoje é isso, e a dica que fica, é que é muito mais interessante ir ver as coisas com seus próprios olhos, mas na falta de oportunidade, é melhor você ver "pelos olhos de um terceiro" do que simplesmente não tomar conhecimento.
