In case you’re looking for something fresh (and it’s signed by Microsoft, so you won’t need to hack anything to make it work)…

Windows XP users have not really seen a lot of love theme-wise from Microsoft since the release of the operating system. A measly handful of official themes have been released by Microsoft and the trend seems to continue for Windows Vista users. There is not really a reason to not to supply customers with fresh themes for their operating systems. If you look on the Internet you find many resources that cater to the needs of users who want to change the default themes.

Official themes on the other hand have the advantage of being signed meaning that there is no need to tamper with the uxtheme.dll file that protects the operating system from unofficial themes. Vishal over at Ask VG discovered a new signed Windows XP theme that is also compatible with Windows Server 2003 that can be installed without changing system files.

He discovered the theme in the Windows Embedded Standard CTP Refresh distribution and provided download links to it. The theme is supplied as a self extracting executable that installs the theme in the right location in Windows. The theme can then be selected from the Themes tab in the Display Properties.

I always forget about this when I'm reformatting my computer, so I thought it might be nice to post it somewhere that I (and you) can find it somewhat easily.

For the time being, XPize does not properly patch uxtheme.dll to allow custom visual styles in Windows XP SP3, though XPize v5 is coming out soon, and that might change.

One can easily get bored of the default theme for xp.By default windows xp does not allow 3rd party themes to be used for xp,but to be able use them you need to patch uxtheme.Don't worry if you don't know what this uxtheme is and how to patch it.Just download this software from here it will do the job for you.

Te gusta cambiar el aspecto de tu Windows Xp pero no te gusta instalar ningun otro programa como Style Xp o Windows Blind porque consumen demasiados recursos esta es la solucion.

Uxtheme Multi Patcher es una utilidad que te ayudara a cambiar el aspecto visual de tu xp recuerda que cuando lo instales es recomendable realizar una copia de seguridad del archivo uxtheme.dl ya que el sistema lo reemplazar por otro para que pueda funcionar.

Compatible solo con WIndows Xp / sp1 / sp2 / sp3, windows server 2003 / sp1 / sp2

Tampilan windows XP yang monoton dengan themes Luna sebenarnya dapat diubah dan dipercantik menggunakan themes buatan pihak ketiga. Untuk menggunakan themes dari pihak ketiga, kita perlu menggunakan software seperti Windows Blind atau StyleXP. Atau bisa juga dengan mem-patch file uxtheme.dll bawaan Microsoft menggunakan aplikasi UXTheme Multi-Patcher seperti ditulis oleh detikinet.com. Jika dengan UXTheme ternyata gagal, bisa menggunakan aplikasi yang lebih sederhana berbasis command prompt, namanya Replacer.

Dari beberapa cara di atas, untuk Asus EEE saya menyarankan menggunakan Replacer. Ukuran file Replacer sangat kecil, sekitar 12Kb. Replacer juga tidak perlu di-install seperti halnya Windows Blind atau StyleXP.

UXTheme 사용시 Media Player에서 일본어 깨지는 현상 해결하기

UXTheme를 사용하면 위와 같이 일본어를 제대로 표현 할 수 없는 경우가 발생한다. 이를 해결하기 위해서는 일본어를 모두 표현 할 수 있는 폰트로 교체해 주어야 하는데 Media Player에서 Icon 폰트를 사용하기 때문에 Icon에 해당하는 폰트를 바꾸어 주어야 한다. 이 방법으로는 스킨을 사용하여 앨범을 선택할 때 나오는 메뉴의 글자까지는 해결하지 못하더라도 기본적으로 제공되는 인터페이스의 일본어 글자가 깨지는 현상을 해결 할 수 있다.

Display Properties (바탕화면 등록정보)에서 Appearance 탭으로 이동한 후 Advanced를 선택하면 위와 같은 화면이 뜨는데 Item을 Icon으로 교체한 후 Font를 일본어가 지원 되는 폰트로 바꾸어 주면 아래와 같이 정상적인 문자를 볼 수 있다. 보통 윈도우에서 기본 지원하는 한글 이름의 폰트를 선택하면 일본어를 정상적으로 볼 수 있다.

Need to apply non-Microsoft Visual styles in Vista and Windows Server 2008

How to Install

1. Login as a user with Administrative privileges -or- have Administrative
credentials ready (check under the keyboard for a slip of paper).

2. Navigate to %systemroot%\System32

3. Right-click uxtheme.dll and click properties.

4. Take ownership of the file and close dialogs.

5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for themeui.dll and shsvcs.dll

6. Right-click uxtheme.dll and click properties.

7. Give yourself (or group) Full Control permissions and close dialogs.

8. Repeat steps 6 and 7 for themeui.dll and shsvcs.dll.

9. Rename uxtheme.dll to uxtheme.old.

10. Rename themeui.dll to themeui.old.

11. Rename shsvcs.dll to shsvcs.old.

12. Copy patched files into %systemroot%\System32

13. Reboot (yes, this is really required)

14. Enjoy!

Vistamizer 2.5.1.0...e trasformi XP in Vista !!!

Come già segnalato in questo mio post Vistamizer è un programmino che vi stravolge il tema classico di Xp e ve lo fa diventare in tutto e per tutto uguale a quello di Vista (selezionare la Full Installation)

Da pochi giorni è uscita la versione 2.5.1.0 che è ricchissima di novità

(non preoccupatevi il vostro XP rimane in Italiano)

Programma simile a Xpize ma, a mio avviso, molto meglio Vistamizer

Decir que SP3 ya ha sido lanzado no seria nada nuevo pero si actualizaste a Service Pack 3 y ya no puedes utilizar tu estilos visuales que no estan firmadosdigitalmente por Micorsoft (.msstyles) Rafael a lanzado la libreria parcheada uxtheme.dll para la version final del SP de hecho no solo tiene los de SP3 checa su pagina y encontraras los demas Uxtheme Patches

Descarga Uxtheme Patched

Primero que nada borra uxtheme.dll de C:\Windows\system32\dllcache y C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles\i386
Navega hasta C:\Windows\system32 y haz un backup de uxtheme.dllrenombrandolo o copiandolo al escritorio
Pega el archivo que bajaste de aqui en C:\Windows\system32
Ahora solo cancela el pop-up de seguridad de Windows si salta otra ventana ignorala y reinicia.

Eso es todo

O UXTheme é um pequeno ficheiro presente no Windows, que somente (isto, de origem) usar temas criadas pela Microsoft, e este ficheiro é uma modificação do original, para permitir usar temas criadas por terceiros, ou seja, temas não oficiais.

Existem 2 formas de fazer a instalação do ‘uxtheme.dll’, a simples e a complexa.

Nota: O ficheiro ‘uxtheme.dll’ modificado é do SP3 build 5508, e está 100% funcional, e funciona com todas as versões anteriores!

Wielu z Was często zastanawiało się nad zamiana standardowych tematów w XP. Jeśli się już za to zabraliście i macie jakieś tematy, ale jednak nie ma możliwości ich zmiany to ten program umożliwi Wam tą zmiane.

Buat temen2 yang udah nginstall patch SP3, file uxtheme.dll yang sebelumnya udah dipatch di SP2 (untuk jalanin visual style) bakal ditimpa lagi sama bawaan SP3, jadi visual style tersebut bakal gak jalan lagi :)

Anyway udah ada patch untuk uxtheme.dll SP3 tersebut (buat SP3 RC beta build 3264 aja lho ya :) )

Note: Patch ini belom gw coba, secara gw belom install SP3 (nunggu versi fullnya). So, use it at your own risk!
