Actor and ladies sensation Terrence Howard was still enjoying Italy yesterday as he was spotted sipping on a nice cool drink with a lit cigarette in his other hand. Howard was still in Italy for the Ischia Global Film & Music Festival in which he brought home an award the other day. Raggedy widow's peak and all we think the ladies could really give a flying crap because to them he's still eye candy.

Terrence Howard aka Quinton Spivey from The Best Man took home an award last night in Italy at the Ischia Global Film and Music Festival. After yesterday's revelations it makes you appreciate how hard some people have worked to attain the success that they now have. As we always ask about this time, where do you rank Terrence's acting skills? Is he in the same category as a Will Smith or Denzel Washington? Or are we out of our damn minds for even posing a question like that? Name your favorite Terrence Howard film. We know ours. The Best Man. Oh yea Rosario Dawson was also spotted at the Festival.

Terrence Howard has come out and revealed some rather interesting and surprising information about the start of his acting career.

Via Eurweb:

*Terrence Howard said he was so angry over being cut from a part in "The Cosby Show" that he confronted the program's famous star to vent his frustration – only to find himself briefly blacklisted in the entertainment business.

"I was 19 and had just moved to New York from Cleveland, I got on 'The Cosby Show' on my second audition ever," Howard said, according to WENN.

He explains: "I told him, 'I'm a man just like you.' He didn't like it, and the casting agent never took my calls again."

Howard says he didn't work for four years, but eventually bounced back to launch a successful acting career - landing an Academy Award nomination in 2006 for his role in "Hustle & Flow."

Mediaoutrage- Interesting. We know that sort of thing happens all of the time in the entertainment industry. Think about it that's what 50 Cent said that some of the major players tried to do to him after he released that song how to rob, in which he humorously described how he would rob Diddy, Jay-Z and a few other titans. Black balling is real fo sho. So Cosby got gangsta with it. But then again Howard sounds like he might have been a little out of pocket by speaking to a legend such as Cosby in that manner. There's a way to do everything in decency and order.

The plot, though based on Jackson's life, is standard--a gangster breaks from his youthful life of crime to triumph as a rapper--but there's vitality in the details: Jackson's girlfriend helps him pull free the wires holding his jaw shut when he's recovered from being shot in the face; a startling, brutal fight by naked men in a prison shower. Jackson even has his comic-book moment of transformation when a razor blade is thrown into his cell, encouraging him to kill himself; instead, he uses it to carve his rhymes into the walls. Unfortunately, as an actor Jackson only has two sides, gangster hard or oddly childlike and vulnerable. This second aspect falls away from the movie as Jackson assumes power, leaving only the cold, impassive face of a tough guy. That's the fate of superheroes too--they become the mask they present to the world, which is both their dream and their fate. Terrence Howard (Crash, Hustle & Flow) livens things up as a volatile prison friend. Also featuring Bill Duke (Predator) as a raspy ganglord and Joy Bryant (Honey) as Jackson's girlfriend. Capably directed by Jim Sheridan (My Left Foot, In America). --Bret Fetzer

Marcus (50 Cent) has always known he was going to be a rapper. But when his mother is murdered young Marcus turns to dealing drugs for New York crime boss Majestic to pay the bills. As dealing turns to gang banging however Marcus finds his life spinning out of control eventually landing in prison. While there he decides to quit hustling and dedicate himself to his music...but by turning his back on Majestic he may have signed his own death warrant. Terrence Howard co-stars in this hard-hitting story based on 50 Cent's transformation from gangster to rapper an unforgettable ride from tragic beginning to triumphant end.System Requirements:Runtime: 116 min.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: DRAMA UPC: 097360472943 Manufacturer No: 047294

Not that I really need to explain myself since this is my blog, but just so everyone is clear, I love the rain so my new blog title is not meant to be negative. Over Memorial Day weekend my friend Mel (who's getting married in three months!) and I were joking about all my dating stories, she knows that as much as I complain about dating I get a kick out of it, and that all my experiences are like me walking through the rain. Hence the blog title. Eventually you come to a clearing where there are no clouds, or maybe you find an intense storm that could be considered a great relationship. Who knows. At any rate, just wanted everyone to know that.

***********************

So the Irishman... he sent me the sweetest text message ever. (I'm finding I don't have such disdain for texts when they come from someone you might actually like.) Background: he wanted to hang out yesterday but I had made plans with Darling and the Boss all day and evening so we would just have to stick with our Tuesday night date.

The text, coming just after midnight: "So it's Monday. I still miss your face."

I don't know why but that short message has had me smiling non-stop since.

I saw my friend today who set us up (she happens to be my chiropractor) and she was jumping up and down and in near tears that we are going on our fourth date tomorrow night.

******************

It's officially day number one of my Staycation. I managed to drop some dough at the mall in a short amount of time, treated myself to a healthy turkey sandwich from Bread Co, and now am waiting for Darling as I suspect she wants to run a "girls only," errand before I had back to MWood for some apartment cleaning, tanning and Boot Camp. I am loving having no agenda, no responsiblities, no answering phones and dealing with clients. If only every day could be the first day of a vacation.

***********************

I was watching Ellen today while finishing up Mr. D'Arcy Takes a Wife (it's only taken me a year; I've read many other books while I've had that one started) and Terrence Howard was on the show. I really enjoy him. I like his voice, the way he talks, how he dresses. He's a bad-boy sexy. Ellen asked if he was dating anyone and he said no because "Forever is a long time to wear the wrong ring." I don't think I've heard it like that before. That will be my new retort if someone asks me why I'm single.

The 2008 BET Awards show went down last night and was packed full of performances which some call boring as hell and others pretty live. Which category do you fall in? Chris Brown and Ciara did their thing, and so did Ms. Alicia Keys who we would say had one of the best performances by bringing out SWV who sorry to say sounded like a man screaming while getting his ballz ripped off. Not a good look. But it was good to see Alicia bring them out. Al Green also was the man of the night as he set the place on fire with his many hits including Love and Happiness. The whole auditorium was rocking and two stepping. It was also dope to see A. Keys bring out TLC.

The BET Awards popped off last night. Everyone and they great grandmom was in the place for the festivities. In our opinion everyone who strolled the red carpet was up to par fashion wise maybe with the exception of a very few. We'll let you dish out the names of those who deserved to be written fashion tickets for violating the fashion laws and doing they own ish. We must say that MC Lyte did the bomb job as the MC of the night.

"Be Alone Tonight" from "School Daze"

To commemorate Black Music Month, we compiled a list of the Top 25 Black Music Movies. The films that made the list made you dance and sing - while you watched. After compiling a list of over 100 films, the list was whittled down not by the quality of the films, but by how great the music was in those films. There are arguments for many films that clearly were outclassed by their soundtracks. Marvin Gaye's only soundtrack was done for the forgettable film, Trouble Man and on and on. In addition to the selection of each film, I also selected the film's signature song. So without any further ado, and in no particular order, are the Top 25 Black Music Movies.

Signature Song: While Monica plays Quincy in the ultimate one-on-one love game, Meshell Ndegeocello’s hauntingly beautiful “Fool of Me,” served as theme music.

"Every year, one in 700 people wake up during surgery. When they planned her husband's murder, they never thought he'd be the one."

I have to be honest. I didn't even know this movie existed until my husband got it on netflix. So I knew nothing about it when we watched it and had no expectations. And I was pleasantly surprised.

Awake is about a rich young man named Clay, who has a heart condition and is waiting for a transplant. Clay plays a big part in his deceased father's company and lives with his mother [Lena Olin], while secretly dating her assistant, Sam [Jessica Alba]. As soon as Clay finds out they have a donor for him, he insists his Doctor friend [Terrance Howard] do the surgery, not his mother's high-profile surgeon boyfriend. Angry at his mother's insistence, he finally tells her about his relationship with Sam, which she does not take well. On the way into surgery, Clay and Sam get married in a rushed ceremony, both motivated by more than just love. Things take a turn for the worst when Clay experiences "anesthetic awareness" during his surgery, and can hear the surgical team discussing his own murder...

This movie was pretty entertaining and had some decent suspense. Hayden Christensen does a good job - he's a much better actor than he seemed to be in the newer Star Wars movies. For me, Lena Olin was the highlight - I'm a big fan of hers. And the movie takes some twists and turns that are unexpected and well done. I'd say Awake is a 3 out of 5. It's worth a rental, especially if you're a Jessica Alba fan. Don't expect too much of it, though... just go along for the ride.

Add'l Info: Released: Nov 30, 2007 • Runtime: 84 minutes • Rated R for language, an intense disturbing situation, and brief drug use

People just revealed their list of Single and Sexy Men in 2008. Terrence Howard made the cut. The Iron Man star, 39, has a brutally honest take on love. "I'm the most arrogant person you'll ever meet, and any woman I date has to know that," he says. "Life is too short to pretend that you're okay with somebody when you're not." Awww Terrence we had no idea you are arrogant....

So, we have another Marvel superhero. This time, it's not a geeky kid who can climb walls. It's a millionaire playboy who can fly becuase of repulsor jets and doesn't need spider webs to be the coolest new superhero around.

Robert Downey Jr. (Good Night and Good Luck, Zodiac) plays Tony Stark, a selfish, high-profile businessman who runs Stark Industries, the world's leading producer of weaponry. He is on a trip to the Middle East, demonstrating his newest killing machine, a cluster missile called the Jericho. While riding in a military tank, Stark finds himself kidnapped and the rest of the soldiers dead. He soon finds out that the Ten Rings, a terrorist group, has captured him in order to get him to build a Jericho missile for them. Working with fellow captive and eventual friend Dr. Yinsen (Shaun Toub, Broken Arrow), Stark instead builds a suit out of sturdy scraps. He makes his escape and flies off, although there is a tragedy. Arriving back home after 3 months in captivity, Stark is a changed man and realizes that he must stop his weapon building industry, which angers co-owner Obidiah Stane (Jeff Bridges, K-PAX). Stark reasons that he was horrified by seeing the soldiers he rode in the tank with killed by his own weapons. So, Stark begins going around the world destroying his own creations in a red and gold suit with cover from military friend James Rhodes (Terrence Howard, Hustle and Flow) while Stane and Stark's assistant Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow, Shakespeare in Love) make everything seem as normal as possible back home. The climax comes when Stark finds that someone he knows personally put out the hit on him.

Iron Man could be considered one of the greatest films of the summer. It is possibly the best that I saw, beating out The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Possibly the best thing about this film is the performance of Downey Jr., who surprised me because I had never seen him in a film before in a major role, just as a minor major character in George Clooney's Good Night and Good Luck. He seems so real as the millionaire, the world famous guy who is doing a great job of acting because his name is nowhere near those such as Hanks, Clooney, and Cruise. His performance, along with the super cool gadgets and CGI, make this a summer blockbuster worth seeing.

Critically acclaimed actor Terrence Howard is exploring a different route to success with his forthcoming debut album, "Shine Through It".

The 11-song Columbia Records release, which was written, arranged and produced by Howard, features the entertainer on vocals and lead guitar.

The album also features production by Miles Mosley, who has produced for artists like Lauryn Hill, Herbie Hancock, Common, Chris Cornell, Jonathan Davis and others.

Although he is best known for his roles in various movies, including his Oscar, Golden Globe and Image Award-nominated turn as an aspiring pimp/rapper named “DJay in 2005's Hustle and Flow, Howard admits that "music has always been the road that leads to where I'm headed."

"Film is my vocation, my 9 to 5. In the movies, I'm doing what somebody else is asking me to do," he told AllHipHop.com in a statement. "Music is my own personal form of expression. My responsibility, like the sun's, is to shine. Even if the planet is covered with clouds, I must say what I have to say."

Shine Through It features songs like "Love Makes You Beautiful," "No. 1 Fan," "Mr. Johnson's Lawn," “Plenty," "Spanish Love Affair" and the title track.

The album's imminent release comes as Howard basks in the success of his latest film, Iron Man, which opened at number one, grossing over $100 million dollars at the box office.

The actor/musician recently revealed that filming will begin on the sequel to the Marvel Comics adaptation in March, with an expected release date of April 2010.

Not sure why I never heard of this movie except from browsing Netflix. About 45 minutes into it, I seriously thought about giving up on it. It wasn't because the movie was bad. It wasn't. It was just disturbing. Hayden Christensen (from Shattered Glass and Anakin Skywalker from the Star Wars movies) is a billionaire Wall Street whiz. A weak heart renders him into surgery at the hands of his trusted friend and doctor, played by Terrence Howard (from Crash and Iron Man). His girlfriend, and fiance later on in the movie is played by Jessica Alba (TV's Dark Angel, Fantastic Four, and Into the Blue). Lena Olin (The United States of Leland, Chocolat) plays his mother.

A side-plot here: Christensen and Alba are in love, but Olin is against it. I guess a pretty major theme of the movie is "Mother knows best."

So Christensen undergoes surgery, but doesn't go under because the anesthetics don't work on him. According to a tagline at the beginning of the movie, "Over 21 million people are anesthetized every year, and about 30,000 don't go under. They stay awake." It's a scary thought, but I can't imagine it to be the way the movie depicts. Nonetheless, very interesting.

There's a twist, but I'm not going to spoil it here. I'd say the film's worth checking out. Jessica Alba actually gives a pretty convincing performance here, which is surprising. Terrence Howard is pretty good, as is Lena Olin. I haven't seen Christensen in enough movies to judge his acting, but it wasn't bad. The monologues get tiring pretty quick, but I guess they were necessary in this case.

Awake was written and directed by first-timer Joby Harold.

Um deles: "Papa was a Rolling Stone" (The Temptations).

Nota máxima geral! Filmaço! De querer rever outras vezes mais.

Por: Valéria Miguez (LELLA).

Quatro Irmãos (Four Brothers). 2005. EUA. Direção: Joh Singleton. Elenco: Mark Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson, André Benjamin, Garrett Hedlund, Terrence Howard, FionnulaFlanagan, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Sofia Vergara, Josh Charles. Gênero: Ação, Crime, Drama, Suspense.
