So What happens when you take a native from South Bend IN, A Long Island Half Breed, A Jersey Girl, and a Pre- Chicago Post Digital Robot into Indiana… Pure Mayhem.

Here we go:

-Indiana is between Eastern time and Central time. So people thought it was a great idea to have counties pick which time they wanted to be on. Some towns were on Chicago time, While others were were on Michiana time. Yeah..this got confusing cuz we were always was on New York time.

-Fast Food Chains..Enough said. wait no way. Chick-Filet! CLOSED ON SUNDAYS Dairy Queen, Steak N Shake, Sonic, MARTINS! Krispy Kremes, Yeah you name it
-Liquor and Beer are sold at every supermarket and CVS and walgreens and is on SALE like Handles are discounted in your local grocery store and there are aisles upon aisles. Here’s the catch, THOU SHALL NOT SELL ALCOHOL ON SUNDAYS!

More to come

Hey Y’all

This is Jessica, the assistant director on “Woman’s Prison”. A film Written and Directed by Katie Madonna Lee. We just wrapped the second session of filming in Indiana of this Film and there is only a tiny bit to go. The film is about 98% complete and for a 110 minute feature done with a small all woman crew that is amazing and almost unbelievable. We absolutely had everything against it. Like not even a car to get us back home or even support from some people…but we made it. From girls building a coffin in a garage to asking locals to be extras in the film, we have stories that no one will believe. This is just an intro to updates of what happened and what is yet to come.

Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves

Pictures and Videos Yet to Come!

Thanks,

Jessica

I'm usually not going to write a lot, but I do have some stuff to say about this video.

I don't know how much I believe in the idea behind this anymore. I feel like there is never closure in real life. Never. There is always the possibility of picking up the phone and calling someone that you promised your self you were never going to talk to again. You can archive certain level of peace by... mmm... closing your drawer, but not really closure. I still like this video... it was made in one day and I hadn't watch it in a while and now I don't like the editing that much, but it is good enough. Well, here it is.

Ooh, been a while since I posted here.

Annnnyway I've really been enjoying being back in New York. The two weeks I spend as an OL were great, and I made a lot of friends in other majors that I wouldn't have been otherwise able to meet. Also, I got a free mohawk! Yay!

So this weekend is the New York Anime Fest, and I will be helping to run SVA's booth. I am sooo excited to finally be on the other side of the table as an exhibitor, even if I am doing it through the school! :D Megan and I will be selling issues of Starry Knights at the table, as well as a whole slew of other excellent comics and prints from SVA students.

All in all, things have been going pretty well for me lately, even if I am swamped with tons of work. It's a good kind of work.

The most recent addition to my online presence is a small catalog of products. These are based on the series of illustrations I created in Elizabeth Sayles' Portfolio Illustration class at the School of Visual Arts this summer in New York City. I had a great time because I took the challenge seriously.

At first I had a different idea of what the outcome would be. To my surprise, something else happened! Not only did I come out of it with quite a few strong pieces but I have been given the tools to create a shop full of products based on those illustrations.

My thanks to Ms. Sayles in her extensive experience as a designer, illustrator and teacher had the excellent insight to recruit Ispot Sales Director Dave Tabler as a guest

[caption id="attachment_11" align="alignleft" width="235" caption="View of the opposite side"][/caption]

speaker. Offering advice and tips to aspiring illustrators, Tabler included the directive to "make projects, and turn those projects into products: anything you can get an image on."

So far, this being my first product, CafePress.com has been straighforward and easy to use. It is one of the companies both Tabler and Sayles use as examples. Tabler mentioned it as a free online resource for fledgling creatives to build products and buzz for themselves. Sayles uses the site to promote a selection of her own products. Using CafePress.com I will continue to expand my own line of products over the next season just in time for the holidays! Stay tuned.

So yesterday was an audition at beautiful SVA.

Yeah, thats right. Sva. Which is a walk from where I work to the complete other side of Manhattan. Thank god yesterday was a nice day and not sweltering like it has been the past few weeks. In addition to that both myself and Samantha were called in by the assistant Director. A gentleman we have both worked with in the past and who based on past experiences, has a pretty good eye, and an intelligent head on his shoulders.

Competance is sometimes a scarce thing.

So how did it go? What was it for? Well its for a western. Yes, me in a western. It is being shot sometime in October out in Penn. Roadtrip! As for how it went. I don't think an audition can go better.

For starters, I was actually a little nervous. its one thing to audition for random people you don't know and will probably never see again, it is completely different when you know at least one of the people behind the table. All that aside, things went well. My monologue i use for contemporary pieces is fairly obscure and no one has recognized up until yesterday. I count that as a good sign that the director recognized it and was pleased with the choice at least. From there I was given a few sides to go over. While out in the hall, our very own Samantha stepped in to audition. She too was given sides which..we were brought in to read together.

I can't tell you have reliving it is to know the scene partner in an audition and to trust them. There is a certain feeling when you know you nailed an audition. And, yeah, we nailed it. Its one of those things that if i don't get called in for a call back or a part, I don't care. It means I wasn't right for the part. Plus, i know I did my best. So, Booyah!. Take that SVA.

So now we play the waiting game.

As its name tells, the park lays on the top floor of a water treatment center in Toyonaka-city. It is good place to take kids during the weekend as it has a big playground. There is also a huge multi-purpose field where you can even play soccer or baseball. Located next to Haneda Airport, it is a very good place for photo enthusiasts to take photos of landing and taking-off airplane as well.

As many of you know, President Bush has signed the Post-9/11 GI Bill into law. Attached to this email, you will find a copy of the VA's FAQ regarding the new program.

Importantly, the Post 9/11 GI Bill will only cover approved education related expenses incurred after 31 July 2009. This program is not retroactive. If you have already used some or all of your MGIB benefits, you're out of luck. Any unused benefits can be transfered to the new program. Moreover, it appears that if you choose to use your MGIB benefits for the 2008 - 2009 academic year, you will NOT be compensated at the new rates for that period. You should consider the following information before you decide to use your benefits under the old MGIB:

1. The current E-5 BAH rate for New York City is 2244.00 per month. For a 9 month academic year, this portion of the benefit is approximately $20,196.00.

2. Under the new program, your tuition benefits are capped at the tuition for the most expensive public undergraduate program within the state in which you attend. To the best of my knowledge, the most expensive school in NY is SUNY College of Technology - Alfred, meaning the tuition cap will be $9,678.00.

3. In cases where these benefits do not fully cover the cost of an education, the the Post 9/11 GI Bill contains a provision that provides additional benefits to vets who attend private universities that have elected to participate in a public - private fund matching program. Essentially, the federal government will match the contributions that private universities make to help cover the remaining cost of tuition and fees.

Clearly, using your MGIB benefits for the 2008-2009 academic year represents a significant opportunity cost. However, you may still want to check out the following link for a comparison between the MGIB and the Post 9/11 GI Bill to further inform your decision:
