Aerosmith frontman Steven Tallarico, better known as Steven Tyler, filed a lawsuit in the Superior C

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tallarico, better known as Steven Tyler, filed a lawsuit in the Superior Court for the State of California on Wednesday, September 24, 2008, against several unnamed bloggers. Tyler is seeking damages and an injunction to stop the defendants, referred to in the complaint as "Does 1 through 20," from impersonating Tyler and his girlfriend Erin Brady in online blogs.

Apparently, the defendants took Tyler's instruction to "walk this way, talk this way" a little too seriously when they allegedly impersonated Tyler in two different blogs "in a manner that represents to the public that the statements contained therein [were] being made by [Tyler] when in fact they [were] not." On the first blog, thirty-two diary entries were posted by "ST," with the first entry appearing in December 2007. Each post contained pictures of Tyler, as well as facts describing Tyler's relationship with either Brady, his children or his mother. While Tyler's impersonators revealed intimate details about "ST's" love life, Tyler, in his complaint, claims that "the impersonated statements related to [Tyler's] mother are perhaps the most hurtful given that she recently passed away." On the second blog, seven entries posted by "EB" were written from Brady's perspective and contained fabricated thoughts and commentary. Upon discovering the blogs, Tyler's attorney notified Google that the blog entries were being written by an impostor, and requested that Google take down the blogs. Google promptly complied.

Tyler filed his lawsuit in California, which is not surprising given California's generous statutory right to recover for the unauthorized use of another's "name, voice, signature, photograph or likeness." The lawsuit alleges three causes of action: (1) public disclosure of private facts, (2) "false light," and (3) common law misappropriation of likeness. In support of these claims, Tyler asserts that the defendants knowingly circulated private and fabricated facts about his life without consent in a manner that served no legitimate public interest and would be highly offensive to a reasonable person. Tyler claims that the defendants circulated the sham blog entries in order to gain personal and commercial benefits. Tyler further alleges that he sustained, and will continue to sustain, general and special damages (including damages to his reputation, personal feelings and loss of publicity value) as a direct and proximate result of the defendants' malicious and fraudulent conduct.

While Tyler's complaint understandably lacks details, the facts Tyler provides indicate that his case does not have "what it takes" to reach a victorious outcome. Given Tyler's fame and the public's genuine interest in the rich and famous, many of the disputed statements are likely to be considered newsworthy and of legitimate concern to the entertainment news-following public. Further, it is unclear what personal benefits an anonymous blogger could receive from a blog that did not advertise any product or include self-promotion.

The multitude of obstacles Tyler will face in proving this far-fetched lawsuit makes this blogger wonder if the outcome will leave Tyler walking away from the lawsuit with a "three mile smile"-- or maybe just "cryin'."

NOTE: Yeah, I know the last post wuz almost a copy of the one before it. My apologies, yardbirds

NOTE: Yeah, I know the last post wuz almost a copy of the one before it. My apologies, yardbirds ... I wuz in a rush!
Now ... on with the show:

LOOK! ... he DID it!

Against the recommendation of agents and friends, Paul McCartney performed his tremendous set in front of fifty thousand anxious fans in Tel Aviv, Israel, yesterday.

Y'see, some terrorist nut said he was gonna kill the former Beatle/Wing if he played. Of course, Macca's no stranger to death threats -- they go back to even before the 1966 Memphis cherry bomb incident. But, backed up with 5,000 security, he didn't have anything to worry about, and certainly didn't show any worry onstage!

Before the show, he went to Bethlehem and lit candles at the Church of The Nativity, wishing for peace between Israel and Pakistan.
"I am bringing a message of peace and I think that's what the region needs," he said. "It's my own small way I can bring my message."
So kudos to Sir Paul for his fantastic show as well as his bravery and compassion! He's still an inspiration to every rocker -- and a good time was had by all.

RATS!! The Hard Rock Amusement Park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina has filed for bankruptcy protection! Yeah, it happened on Wednesday after the Park closed much earlier than they expected!

Fortunately, a park spokesman says they're still gonna open the Led Zeppelin "Whole Lotta Love" and Eagles "Life In The Fast Lane" roller coasters again next year.

Man, don't these cats understand?? You've gotta give it about three to five years for it to start turnin' a healthy, continuous profit! And they could've kept that bankruptcy wolf away from their door if the suits had spent only according to expected receipts. Geez ... (and they call themselves "businessmen"? Look -- thousands of great acts gave it all they had to make it, and this park was an ultimate tribute. So DON'T TAKE AWAY THE ROCKFEST!)

Awww, c'mon ... you've gotta be kiddin', right?

Apparently, the honchos at Geffen Records and Sony Television are tellin' us "C'mon ... get happy!", and are (groan!) working on an updated Partridge Family TV show. Sure ... like we need (OH NO!!! That ... that could mean we might end up with another [dare ya say it, RelicmanOkay, I will ...] DANNY BONADUCE!]) ...
nevermind. If it happens, then forget Wall Street; this'll be the end of the world as we know it ... lol

The Relic and all the Rockaholics send their condolences and best wishes to Patricia Keiter's family upon her passing Wednesday at 79. Why was she so important? Well, lemme tell ya the Lubbock, Texas lady's name again: Patricia ... HOLLEY ... Keiter. She was Buddy's sister!

And if you've read any blogs that've had entries from Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and his "girlfriend" that talk about his ... er, "intimate" activities, fergiddabouddit! It's bogus! And the real rocker is suing the two freaks who are posing as Tyler. (Can you believe they're even hittin' on the death of his mother? How low can you go, jerks??) Hope he burns their axxes!

Okay ... that's it for this edition. Tune in tomorrow for more, including updates and a coupla ketchup pieces (read it phonetically, yardbirds!). Until then, (okay, okay ... "CATCH up" ... "ketchup" ... get it? Geez ...) remember:

Keep yer eyes on the skies, your nose to the wind, your heart with the music ... and
I'll see ya on the flip side.

3. "Adam's Apple" ... 4:34
7. "No More, No More" ... 4:34
8. "Round and Round" ... 5:05
9. "You See Me Crying" ... 5:12

Band:
Steven Tyler – Lead Vocals, Harmonica, Percussion, Keyboard
Joe Perry – Guitar, Backing Vocals, Bass, Percussion
Brad Whitford – Guitar
Tom Hamilton – Bass
Joey Kramer – Drums, Backing Vocals

Produced by: Jack Douglas

One of my favorite albums, and I'm ashamed it look me so long to buy it (probably around '99 or '00). Every song is a classic. "Walk This Way" and "Sweet Emotion" are legendary, but there's so much meat on this album. "Big Ten Inch Record" is a fun play on words and "You See Me Crying" is a great (hair?) ballad and "Round and Round" (not the Ratt song!) is one of the band's heavier songs. A blue print album for the next decade's hair metal scene.

Highlights: All of it.

It looks like my favorite band, Aerosmith, is at the end of the road. Drug use apparently has started again between Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, which has brought tension within the band, which leads to...you guessed it - a break up. The new album will most likely still be recorded and released, and they will do a tour next year, but after that, I'm not expecting much. Unless Steven and Joe can quickly set aside or get over the current issues, there won't be many more Aerosmith stories for me to talk about. It's sad...

Someone has been acting like Steven Tyler on a blog and he IS PISSED! GRRR. The blog has already been removed, but the Aerosmith frontman is still planning on suing the culprits. And don't worry, it's not a Furby doing this. I know that's what you were thinking from the above picture. Here's the report from Ultimate-Guitar.com

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler on Wednesday sued unknown bloggers who the singer said impersonated him on the Web, writing about the death of his mother and other "intimate details" from his life.

In a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles, Tyler, 60, said he didn't know the real names of those who have impersonated him and girlfriend Erin Brady on the Web, but he believes the same group was responsible for similar postings in 2007.

So, children, if you plan on being Steven Tyler for the upcoming Halloween season, throw the fucking costume away. He'll sue the shit out of you. You see that Big Wheel? That XBox? Gone.

Superior Court, Steven claims some cyber-wannabes have been using his identity, as well as his girlfriend's, since 2007. In the suit, Tyler claims the impersonators have posted "pictures ... intimate details about [his] private life, including [Tyler's] relationship with his girlfriend, his children and his mother." Tyler says the stuff the bloggers wrote about his mom especially pisses him off because she recently passed away.

Google removed the sites in December of 2007 after Steven raised hell -- but shockingly, they reappeared on the web anyway.

A few months ago I went over to one of my bro's offices and he brought me out their latest smash release, 'Guitar Hero'. Now I am not a gamer but I was blown away by this video game. It is awesome, just one more reason to understand that the music business is changing - fast.

Not for nothing, but this game could change people's lives. And here's why.

I put the game on in my recording studio and my daughter Ella picked up the guitar and started hitting the cords and jumping up and down like a rockstar. She then picked out a song and became a rockstar. She played the game for hours and posed in front of the camera in her black and white leggings, her rockstar tshirt and her pigtails shaking back and forth. I couldnt stop laughing. My friends were on the floor, but she wasnt done.

She climbed up on my desk grabbed the mic and did a better performance than half of the people that walk into our recording studio. She really thinks she is a rockstar. and thats just half of the story.

The next day we went into Hollywood for lunch at this great Italian joint inside Fred Seagals. As we sat down my luantic daughter grabbed two knives and started banging on the table, " I am IRON MAN, dadadadadada dundadadun. the people started to look over as I said Ella chill out, we are at a restaurant baby. The waitress came over and couldnt believe it, so did a bunch of other customers. But thats not all. Ella decided it was showtime and busted out her version of our favorite song, " Momma told me, yes she told me, Id meet girls like you, She also told me stay away you'll never know what you'll catch...." in the middle of her verse this guy looks over wearing black leather pants with a boa around his neck and a bandana around his long black hair. He was in a business meeting at the next table. He hears this version of Surrender and says, "You gotta be kidding me?" I said nope, she does this all day long. I said to him, 'you want to hear her sing one of your songs? He said which one? Depends on her mood but maybe she'll give you "Train kept a rollin, or Walk this way" You see the guy was Steven Tyler the best rock and roller of all-time and my kid was rocking the house - all because of Guitar Hero. And because her daddy is a really cool daddy. She stopped singing after all the applause to say, "daddy I gotta go peepee' You see my daughter, Ellabelle Rose Forster is three... yes 3.

[caption id="attachment_74" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="Pump"][/caption]

From a storming debut of British rock juggernauts Led Zeppelin to the powerhouse comeback statement of America's biggest rock band; Aerosmith's Pump. There's something that stops Aerosmith being recognised as much as they should be other here, it could be that they became victims of the MTV posturing their rejuvenation sparked or simply that all that big rock balladry went out long ago. It could be that there's nothing like an over-the-top film tie-in hit to turn off the critics. Of course; it could simply be that they've still not topped this album since its release in 1989.

Something, I can't remember what, led me to Aerosmith's Big Ones - the compilation of their Geffen albums sometime around 1996 before the release of Nine Lives. From their this was my next purchase and the radio fodder of singles What It Takes and Love In An Elevator didn't really prepare me for what this album contain, with the exception of the sleaze of ..Elevator. From the kick off this album is a power house full of heavy riffs and thumping drums underpinned with melody and basically great songs.

Young Lust is exactly what you'd expect from an Aerosmith song with such a title; charging guitars and storming rhythm as Tyler sings the words that sums the album up entirely:

"a little bit o' nasty
you look a little sleazy
but don't get any on you

young lust
you better keep your daughter inside
or she's gonna get a dose of my pride
yeah, everybody talks about it"

As an opener it perfectly sets up what follows. Young Lust starts almost with a falter before picking up an energy that carries it along and rams it straight into F.I.N.E and sets up the rest of the album.

The songs (with the exception of Janie's Got A Gun) don't deal with heavy issues, it's lust and the energy of youth perfectly captured by men nudging their middle ages but injected with a fresh sense of urgency since cleaning up their act and at the very peak of their game. Joe Perry lays down startling lead and solo after startling lead and solo while showing off more versatility (check out the slide work of Monkey On My Back) than most guitarists of the MTV late 80's rock scene.

This album is the sound of a band getting back their edge. While Permanent Vacation threw them back into the limelight and the charts, it really didn't sound like the hard edged rockers that had produced the classics like Rocks and Toys In The Attic. Here they retain the precision that came with their comeback but they lose the shine and gloss in favour of something harder, grittier and raunchier. Most importantly, the best songs on the album are written without outside help showing that while their addictions may have robbed their earlier fortunes, it never took their ability to create great music. Every member makes his presence known on this album be it Joey Kramer's never-miss drums, Tom Hamilton's co-creation of Janie's Got A Gun or Brad Whitfords nail-it-down rhythm guitar and titling of the album (thankfully stopping it being called Here's Looking Up Your Old Address) every band member brings this album kicking and screaming into touch.

While at the time of release Janies Got A Gun was heralded for tackling the taboo of child molestation, today the lyrics no longer shock in the same way. Musically though the track is a milestone. String arrangements, distorted guitars and THAT Korg intro showed a band moving forward and willing to take risks with their sound (if only they hadn't tried the rap folly of Just Push Play on 2001's album of the same name). With musical interludes expertly splicing the gap from the sublimely fast paced to the bluesier laid back numbers, the pacing of this album means the listener loses interest and even the now-obligatory power ballad What It Takes is a cut above the average.

There's not a song that gets skipped when this album hits my cd player and I strongly recommend this album gets the listening it deserves. Maybe steer clear of the Spinal Tap like Making of Pump dvd in which Tyler suggests that he and his comrades are "like ladder makers" without a trace of irony. It's just a shame they never pushed it further.

I like hearing and singing Lean on Me - it's fun, it's encouraging, it's just a good time. Here are five video versions of Lean on Me for your Friday enjoyment.

This is for Sanity Found (Happy 30th Birthday - yesterday), Leaving Evangeline's friend Amy who undergoes surgery on Monday, and Amber (weathering her own storm, but still celebrating with friends). Here's to friends!

The Original by Bill Weathers (likely the best version):

Club Nouveau (probably my favorite version):

How about Steven Tyler of Aerosmith singing with a church choir (never thought I'd see it):

The African Children's Choir (we had them sing at our high school when I was principal):

From the movie Lean on Me (1989)( I would have liked this to happen at my high school):

Steven Tyler y Joe Perry

cause what you got inside
Aint where your love should stay
Yeah, our love, sweet love, aint love
If you give your heart away

I wanted to take a moment to write about something I found relative to the all encompassing idea I'm always trying to make sense of. I'm reading one of Chuck Klosterman's books right now, IV, and an article he wrote in 2006, "Here's Johnny" has struck me as the perfect explanation for the most absolute way I feel about pop culture. In the article he sort of narrows it all down to one man - Johnny Carson, but it isn't about who Carson was as a person, or even how entertaining he was as a television personality. And it goes beyond the principle of even liking him. You didn't have to. But, everyone simply knew of him.

With that said, what people remember is "Johnny Carson." Klosterman put the man in quotes because what he became and what he stood for in itself was this subconscious "concept" that in itself defines something huge. He represents a moment that everyone was a part of.

Now, where this all comes together is in the way Klosterman describes the current way of life as we live today. You have a zillion options everywhere you go, so many things to choose from. He even kind of compares this to relationships. Apparently Steven Tyler of Aerosmith once said that the thought of being with one woman a thousand times is more interesting than thousands of one time flings with different women. While his epiphany is endearing and sweet, most men will likely disagree because most people believe it's much better to have choices, plenty of options. What people don't realize is that choice alienates us, and the more choices we have, the lonelier, and the more isolated we become. How many times have you stood before a shelf in a drug store, wondering what toothpaste or deodorant to buy? We've all trained ourselves to believe we like to have a choice. But the more I think about it, the more I'm sure that indecision, doubt, and all of the other insecurities that plague us are connected to the fact that we just give ourselves way too much to choose from.

With that said (because, I'm sure you're asking yourself how all of this relates back to Johnny Carson), it's hard for everyone to have "that moment" together nowadays, since there are so many choices. Everyone was watching Johnny Carson back when he was on TV, and if you were watching something else, well, it was more so that you just weren't watching Johnny Carson. Now, there's a handful of household late night names - and another handful that somehow squeezed in their 15 minutes of fame (like that Carson Daly clown.) And outside of that, the range of shows you could be watching at 11:30 pm are kind of infinite. But, those live moments, the one single moment that we all share, without having the option to Tivo it or watch it later on Youtube is gone. We're all kind of alone in our moments now, and we reach them at different times. There was a time when there was one ad for soap, one ad for cereal - there was only one brand, one name to trust, one concept to understand, and nothing more.

Yet again, this game came out during my hiatus and has already been reviewed by a ton of magazines and the like. It's considerably shorter and easier than other Guitar Hero games, and your only hope of liking the game depends on how much you like Aerosmith. Dur de dur. So with that being said, this post is going to be a combination of my take on the game and a take on the Wii version of the game.

Nobody's Fault

First of all, a little about my Guitar Hero ability, to get some perspective on how easy the game is. I'm stuck on the last tier of Guitar Hero III (Raining Blood, Number of the Beast, One, Cliffs of Dover) on Hard, and just started Expert and so far can play through the first few tiers without much difficulty. Picking up Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, I decided to start out on Hard and hope that I wouldn't get stuck. I think I got through without failing a song once, though a few restarts were necessary. I've started playing on Expert and haven't gotten too far, but it's more a result of a lack of free time than genuine difficulty. The vast majority of the songs aren't too challenging (I got 100% on Dream On on Hard on my first try, and that's the second last encore), and so far moving up from Hard to Expert hasn't proved too difficult (the video above is on Expert, and I can only find one or two parts that differ at all from Hard, though I haven't actually played that far yet).

As for the song list, it's half Aerosmith, half other bands. Obviously, you're only even going to consider buying this game if you like Aerosmith. I only have their O, Yeah! Ultimate Aerosmith Hits greatest hits album and I've heard Rocks, and that was enough for me to enjoy the track list, arguably more than Guitar Hero III's track list. But that's mostly a personal call. For me, I found that I liked most of the Aerosmith songs, and the game only got dull during the other songs like "Dream Police" or "All The Young Dudes", which aren't similar to Aerosmith by any stretch of the imagination and scream "POWER BALLAD!!!!" a little too loudly for me. Only four songs are covers and another four Aerosmith songs are re-recordings (by Aerosmith, don't worry), including "Dream On" and "Mama Kin", the latter of which has the "smoking tea" line edited down to "smokin'", which kinda throws off the song musically, because it's obvious there's another word there.

Like Guitar Hero III, the animated story parts are incredibly lame, but are fortunately only at the beginning and end. Instead, there are brief interviews with the band in between tiers where they talk about the part of the band's history the game loosely covers (it ignores the druggy stuff and break-up, but that's understandable), though these are only worth seeing once.

Unfortunately, the band from Guitar Hero III makes a return as well, and are just as hideous as they were last time. There's also a second guitarist added to make the band match five people like Aerosmith, and she's just as ugly and jerky as the other characters, even if she does garner some diversity points. Another complaint is that buying guitars in the game seems kind of spotty, since I've bought a few that it won't let me use.

It's worth noting that, unlike GH III, there is no co-op career mode, which is lame. And some of the motion-cap is a little creepy, since it varies from Joe Perry's mouth barely moving like he overdosed on botox to Steven Tyler's mouth moving so loosely it looks like his lower jaw is in danger of falling off.

Also, the game has both the original and Run-DMC versions of "Walk This Way":

Walk This Way

As far as the Wii version goes, I'm sure Wii owners will be happy to hear that they didn't get shafted this time. The game is in stereo, there are a ton of special guitars I suspect weren't in Wii's GH III, and a few other additions, like extra animations for star power that I think were left out for the Wii version of GH III.

I'm not sure it's the same for all versions, but the Wii version, graphically, looks rushed and pretty bad. There have been times where the crowd or band would be heavily pixilated, making the background look worse than N64 quality.

By far the biggest complaint against the game would have to be the price, especially for the Wii version. Paying $50 for the game is kind a stretch by itself, but a $100 game/guitar controller set is not only more expense than Guitar Hero III, even when it was new, but still too expensive, especially when you consider that the controller in the Wii version isn't even wireless and doesn't really have any excuse to cost as much as the PS3 and 360 versions.

Overall, it's a pretty fun game, as long as you like Aerosmith, but it's also worth waiting for the price to come down.

Adoro a confiança dela. Outra que é assim é a filha do Steven Tyler, Mia Tyler. Elas vão que vão! São grandes e não obesas. Uma coisa meio renascentista. Go girl!
