What this is actually all about is the Government once again doing what they have become so adept at of late and that is nationwide urine extraction. Yet again they take it upon themselves to 'protect' us with yet another 'brilliant' scheme that we have no say in, no right to challenge, in some cases no idea about and yet again takes away more of our ever dwindling rights.

"Rights?" I hear you ask. "What are these rights you speak of?"

How many of you have heard or read about this plan to tap into all emails and calls in the UK?

Before I started this particular post I rang the Daily Express to check that it would be OK for me reproduce their story in the October 6, 2008 newspaper, but they said I would have to pay. I shouldn't have been surprised at that, after all it's not about awareness is it? It's about money, as with most things.

I could have just gone ahead and copied it out word for word and I doubt they would have ever found out, but I try to do the right thing. It makes no difference anyway really as I am quite capable of rewording the entire story so that I do not break any rules.

So anyway, as it stands, the new snooping plans propose to monitor all telephone calls, emails and text messages (and even log every website visited by computer users nationwide) in Britain at a cost of £12bn, which will be paid for by taxpayers. GCHQ have already had £1bn of your money to get this going.

As somebody from the anti-identity card group No2ID has already said, If you or I carried out this same kind of snooping it would be a crime. Also, consider the Government's recent record of keeping information safe, how many times have they 'lost' sensitive information?

Even their own watchdog warns that such a scheme would be "A step too far for the British way of life".

Apparently the aim is to set up a "live tap" on every electronic communication in the country. MI5 already carry out limited monitoring of emails and 'net use.

This is all being done under the huge 'combat terrorism' umbrella along with attempting to stop computer fraud and internet-based paedophile rings. These reasons are all things that people should not question, we should put up with any amount of intrusion if it helps beat these things. The problem is, it wont. There will always be terrorists, paedophiles and fraud.

A few statistics:

Last year 57 billion text messages were sent in Britain, this works out to 1,800 every second. About 3 billion emails are sent every day, that's 35,000 every second.

No2ID spokesman said: "This database could have no practical use at all. It would be so big, it would be impossible to find anything useful."

Cirka 20-30st av mina vänner och bekanta kommer sitta på de främsta rader och ge sitt stöd. Jag har länge försökt få de att gå på mer standup men till slut enda sättet är att ställa upp själv. I am a married woman. I have been married for 15 years to the same man. We have a relationship that goes hot and cold. Sometimes we are very tight and sometimes we are kindda distant. I love my husband very much. We have two beautiful children. A security consultant with expertise in protecting phone conversations as they travel over the internet has unveiled a new tool that demonstrates just how vulnerable voice over internet protocol, or VoIP, calls are to interception.

UCSniff bundles a hodgepodge of previously available open-source applications into a single software package that helps penetration testers assess the security of VoIP calls carried over a client's network. It also introduces several new features that make eavesdropping on specific targets a point-and-click undertaking.

UCSniff runs on a laptop that can be plugged in to the ethernet port of the organization being probed. From there, a VLAN hopper automatically traverses the virtual local area network until it accesses the part that carries VoIP calls. Once the tool has gained unauthorized access, UCSniff automatically injects spoofed ARP, or address resolution protocol, packets into the network, allowing all voice traffic to be routed to the laptop.

UCSniff streamlines eavesdropping by allowing an attacker to zero in on the conversations of particular users. Targets can be selected by extension number or dial-by-name features, making it easy to listen to all calls made by a specific individual - such as an organization's CEO. Eavesdropping can be further fine-tuned by listening only to calls the CEO makes to a specific person - such as a chief financial officer.

"It's silently intercepting all the traffic and forwarding it to the phone, so a regular phone user would not be able to tell the difference," UCSniff creator Jason Ostrom told El Reg. "They think they're talking directly to the other phone when in fact the tool is actually intercepting all the traffic."

UCSniff also makes it easy to capture bi-directional conversations in a single audio file. It automatically records calls that use the G.711 and G.722 codecs.

Yes, the tool requires physical access to an organization's network, and that means remote eavesdropping isn't possible with UCSniff. But for anyone with access to an ethernet port of the company they want to intrude upon, it could prove invaluable. Ostrom says it can be plugged into hotel VoIP systems as well. Contrast this with the difficulty of snooping on traditional phone calls, which typically requires physical access to a private branch exchange.

Ostrom, who is director of research for security firm Sipera Systems, demonstrated UCSniff on Saturday at the Toorcon security conference in San Diego. He plans to release it as a free download in the next few weeks.

Given the ease of snooping on VoIP calls, you'd think organizations would be more diligent about using encryption. Alas, they aren't, says Ostrom, who estimates about 90 per cent of the organizations he tests still haven't figured out the importance of encrypting their calls. Therein lies his motivation for releasing UCSniff.

"I'd like to think that I'm creating this tool to create education awareness," he said. "It's a tool that every security and VoIP owner should have in their bag and that's why we're giving it away for free."

God knows what DMX (real name Earl Simmons) was arrested for here. He has a criminal record bigger than Kanye West's ego! Among some of the charges there's animal cruelty, drug possession, driving without a license, suspected of raping a stripper, suspected of stabbing, identity theft etc... the list goes on and on.

I see why he keeps hats on  his hair line ain't nothing pretty. Ne-Yo was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol back in February this year.

Anyway, I have to tape every Yo! MTV Raps episode on our pre-owned Mitsubishi VCR, cos I'm not allowed to stay up till 2am when the show airs on Dutch MTV. That's the time when Paul King still was a VJ, boys and girls. The next day, I'm screening all the videos that came on the night before while the AUDIO OUT plug on the VCR is connected to the AUX IN on the stereo... Yes, I was recording the audio of the music videos onto a tape, so I had fresh beats when I was riding my bike to school every day. 10 miles to school, 10 miles back. That's when I heard 'Big Poppa' for the very first time. I was an instant East Coast fan after that... I dubbed my home made mixtapes and sold them at school. My first hustle. The rest is history...

I just finished watching E2, S4 of The Wire.  I'm a little bummed that McNullty is a beat cop but I'm pretty stoked on Marlow's crew especially Snoop.  Well I take that back.  Fruit was kind of annoying and Marlow looks like a vindictive, black alien.  Snoop on the other hand, floored me upon purchasing a Hilti nail-gun from a hardware store.  To the befuddled sales rep, she so eloquently compares said nail gun to a .22 cal., hands him $800, picks up her "Cadillac of nail-guns" and calls it a day.  You'd have to posses an erie and imbalanced set of aesthetic values to consider Snoop hot, but god damn!

But this post isn't about that.  Actually I had no idea where that Wire anecdote came from.  Call it obsessive.

Anyhow, after finishing episode 2, I turned to the television where Michelle was watch Diners, Drive-ins and Dives on the Food Network.  Notwithstanding the blonde locked, douchebag, psychobilly host, the show is kind of impressive.  In this episode, embarrassing goldie-locked host fleshed out a unique barbecue joint in the Bronx.  The neat thing about this spot, is that they do automotive repairs while smoking your cue favorites such as brisket, pulled pork and ribs. And just when I thought New Yorkers could only smoke Newports, weed and crack.  As our favorite Senator Davis would say "Shiiiiieeeeeeeeettttt."

I went to the news and found two stories from the weekend worth mentioning.  Story 1: Ron White was recently arrested for marijuana possession.  The comedian, who is drunk 24/7, said that his doctor prescribed the marijuana so that he could "deal with his demons."  Who is his doctor, Willie Nelson?  Perhaps Snoop Dogg.

Story 2: Wendy Brown, a 33 year old woman from Wisconsin, was arrested for allegedly stealing her 15 year old daughter's identity.  Why did she do it?  So that she could attend high school, get her diploma and become a cheerleader.  She attended classes, tryouts (made the team) and a pool party.  Didn't Drew Barrymore already do this in 5 different movies?  There are many ways to go with this story.  Overheard at the pool party: "Ok..like..let's play I never.  You say something that you have never done and the rest of the girls have to drink if they have done it...hooray!  Ok..like..Chrissy goes first."  "Ok, I've never had a c-section."  "Damn...it's going to be a long night."

Here's what I don't understand.  What is the cheerleading coach thinking?  You have a group of girls and one of them looks twice the age of the rest.  "Hey Wendy, nice tumble and spirit fingers during that last cheer.  I'll ask the band to kick up the volume next time so the crowd doesn't hear your knee joints crack...and by the way... maybe you should lay off the cigs.  If I didn't know any better I would think that you're old enough to be everyone's mom."

• Dizzee Rascal - Dance Wiv Me Party. I'm really not feeling the purple and shades indoors.
• Kelly Rowland - European Television & Music Awards. Was she trying to go for an up-market velour tracksuit? Granted she looks beautiful but I really don't know what she was thinking. It's the colour, the fit and the material. It's wrong.
• Lil Kim - VMA's. I had so much choice looking for an outfit for her but I had to go with that purple ensemble. It was awful. I guess she gets points for matching everything. Even her hair. Truly one of the most bizarre things ever.
• Snoop Dogg. I don't know where this was taken but my god. It looks like a onesie that my son would have worn when he was newborn. I guess props for the bandana print. Snoop is usually criticised for his pimp outfits but they ain't got shit on this.
• Lauryn Hill - 25th Annual Martin Luther King Jr Concert Series, Brooklyn. I don't know who styled this outfit or was her make-up artist. She looks like a cross between a circus clown with the crazy make-up and Michael Jackson, she's even copied his look by wearing pyjama bottoms outdoors. Classy.

• Fergie - MTV Awards. Doesn't she look so elegant? I love the Burberry shorts, although I don't think these really constitute as shorts, more like boxers, with the matching leather boots. The shorts and boots alone are awful but when teamed with a shirt tucked into her bra and a green tie it just complete's this really peculiar outfit.
