We've known it for a long time: the web is big. The first Google index in 1998 already had 26 million pages, and by 2000 the Google index reached the one billion mark. Over the last eight years, we've seen a lot of big numbers about how much content is really out there. Recently, even our search engineers stopped in awe about just how big the web is these days -- when our systems that process links on the web to find new content hit a milestone: 1 trillion (as in 1,000,000,000,000) unique URLs on the web at once!

What I find really cool, is that their massive supercomputer is able to index all of this content, 1 trillion pages and new additions, nearly continuosly:

To keep up with this volume of information, our systems have come a long way since the first set of web data Google processed to answer queries. Back then, we did everything in batches: one workstation could compute the PageRank graph on 26 million pages in a couple of hours, and that set of pages would be used as Google's index for a fixed period of time. Today, Google downloads the web continuously, collecting updated page information and re-processing the entire web-link graph several times per day. This graph of one trillion URLs is similar to a map made up of one trillion intersections. So multiple times every day, we do the computational equivalent of fully exploring every intersection of every road in the United States. Except it'd be a map about 50,000 times as big as the U.S., with 50,000 times as many roads and intersections.

As you can see, our distributed infrastructure allows applications to efficiently traverse a link graph with many trillions of connections, or quickly sort petabytes of data, just to prepare to answer the most important question: your next Google search.

I am surprised by that number. I figured maybe in a couple years...but wow. I don't know about you, but my money says Googlenet is already more powerful than Skynet.

Over hoe leuk het gisteren was in de Efteling. Het ging er druk zijn volgens de site, maar de regen verpestte dat feestje en het was er magisch rustig. Over hoe we iemand geweldig hard van de carrousel zagen vallen en het stiekem geweldig grappig vonden. Over hoe "Papier hier" de eerste keer heel leuk klonk, maar de 765ste keer niet meer ... Over hoe vandaag de zon wel kon schijnen en gisteren blijkbaar niet.

En misschien ook een beetje over hoe geweldig ik mijn leventje vind. Ik vind mijn drukke leventje geweldig. Al mis ik soms een beetje mijn slaap. Die mis ik niet op het moment zelf, maar meestal de dag erna, dat is het lastige van de zaak. U kent het gevoel.

Over hoe ik mijn dromen nog steeds kan manipuleren ... Ik droomde over een geweldig bloederige editie van Rock Werchter, waar de zanger van de Editors dodelijk gewond afgevoerd werd, maar dat vond ik niet leuk, dus concentreerde ik me en even later was hij alweer springlevend. Leve mijn dromen.

En ook over Skynet, die z'n limieten blijkbaar verlegd heeft naar 25 gb en we nu urenlang, dagen aan een stuk, YouTube kunnen kijken zonder op smallband gegooid te worden. Het leven kan toch mooi zijn.

T-600

El T-600 es el predecesor del T-800 que conocemos (interpretado por Arnold). Se trata de una versión más grande y tosca. Faciles de detectar y letales, posiblemente serán los enemigos que más veamos enfrentandose a John Connor y los suyos.

T-800

Este será el sustituto de Arnold. Roland Kickinger. Previsiblemente tendrá un enfrentamiento con John Connor, aunque no por ello, podá evitar que Skynet envié al T-800 al pasado a matar a Sarah Connor. Y John Connor tendrá que enviar a Kyle Reese a proteger a su madre y posibilitar su propia existencia. Más tarde otro modelo de esta misma versión T-800 sería reprogramado por John Connor para ser enviado al pasado y procurarse protección, pero supongo que eso se verá en Terminator 5.

HARVESTER

En el trailer puede verse como una mano metálica atraviesa un muro y agarra a un pobrecito ser humano. Supuestamente estamos ante los Harvester. Maquinas gigantescas dedicadas a la recolección de humanos con vida, destinados a los experimentos de Skynet o a campos de esclavos.

HYDROBOTS

Los Hydrobots son maquinas que se desplazan por el agua patrullando en busca de humanos. No creo que se dejen ver mucho en la pantalla, supongo que los seres humanos, en el medio acuático llevan las de perder.

AEROSTATS

En el trailer no aparece en ningún momento maquinas voladoras. La única pista que podemos tener es este cuerpo que aparece colgado, posiblemente tras el enfrentamiento con alguno de los aerostats. Aunque no es seguro.

En las otras películas, en diversos flashbacks, pueden verse el aspecto que tendrían los aerostats, que podrían ser como el de las imagenes pequeñitas de arriba.

Kickinger als Arnold in "See Arnold Run"

Voor degene die het niet weten de Arnold's karakter van de Terminator films behoort tot de T-800 series van de Terminator lijn van Cyberdyne. Ik geloof dat Arnold's karakter in de verschillende films waren verschillende versies van dezelfde 101 modellen. De cyborg zei al in T3 (of T2? weetnie meer...) dat deze lijn allemaal hetzelfde uitzien als de Terminator van de eerste film.
De T-800 is simpel het type endoskeleton die we ook kennen van de toekomst scenes van de films.

De Terminators van de tv-serie waren overigens geen T-800's, die aangezien wat meer konden, gezien emoties etc...(end spoiler haha). Arnold van T3 was ook een upgrade van de T-800, mede door de verandering van de tijdlijn...(nvr mind...long story!)

Anyways...Kickinger's model kan dus gewoon een andere T-800 model zijn...

Ik moet echt zeggen beetje jammer dat de T-800 in de film zit...Het is al aangegeven dat deze aankomende film deel uitmaakt aan een nieuwe trilogie. Als dit het begin is had ik verwacht in de eerste nieuwe film het begin van de oorlog tussen man and machine...hier is dus mijn punt...in Terminator 1 zei Reese dat Skynet (A.I. die Cyberdyne (bedrijf) overnam (en uiteindelijk de wereld)) de laatste set Terminator's moest upgraden want die waren makkelijk te zien (rubberen huid).
Skynet had natuurlijk de bedoeling om Terminators als infiltrators te fixen om dichterbij de mens te komen...anywhoo...Reese zei dus dat de nieuwe Terminators (Arnold) moeilijk te spotten waren en dat ze honden nodig hadden omdat die het wel konden.
Er is dus een progressieve lijn van productie modellen...ze worden steeds beter...zoals diegene in de tv-serie. Dan vraag ik me af waarom nu al een T-800 met human skin? Ik zie persoonlijk liever een all-out war in de eerste film tussen man en machine, en met machine bedoel ik woeste cyborgs met miniguns en rocketlaunchers en wilde grasmaaiers als voeten waar ze over de mensen heen boeken...vet chill...

en in T5 een realisatie van Skynet dat het niet lukt want mensen zijn te slim dus we gaan infiltrators fixen (T800+human skin) en misschien ten slotte laten zien hoe ze het idee hebben om de etterende John Connor te killen in het verleden om het heden te fixen voor zichzelf....

T6 de conclusie...John Conner heeft het verleden overleeft...ondanks Skynet's pogingen om meerdere Terminators op hem af te sturen...en dan de final beatdown tussen de 2, met Skynet als winnaar die uiteindelijk de mensen als energiebronnen gaat gebruiken. Ze fixen hierbij een virtuele wereld waar de mensen in kunnen leven zodat het lichaam ongestoord energie kan leveren...klinkt als een blockbuster...

Ya ha aparecido la primera imagen de los que será la próxima película de la franquicia Terminator con la que ya se han realizado tres largometrajes y una serie de televisión hasta la fecha.

La cuarta película, titulada Terminator Salvation y cuyo estreno está planeado para mayo del 2.009, narrará los intentos por sobrevivir de la humanidad tras el futuro holocausto nuclear provocado por Skynet.

En la fotografía (click sobre ella para ampliarla) podéis ver a Christian Bale en el papel de John Connor demostrando que los terminators del futuro no son tan rudos como Schwarzenegger.

La saga de Terminator todavia no acaba y ahora veremos a Christian Bale interpretando a John Connor, esta película tendrá lugar después de los eventos de Terminador 3, y se centrará principalmente en la guerra entre los humanos supervivientes y Skynet, por ahora solo queda esperar hasta el siguiente año para verla pero ya salio el trailer de esta película asi que disfrutenlo.

Now, I've never really sat down and watched Terminator, but I sure as hell saw T2: Judgement Day. Sadly I also witnessed T3: Rise of the Machines - which was mildly interesting, but ultimately not worth it. There's several things going for Salvation that makes its stand out. First: no Arnold. Yeah, the movie is Arnold-free thanks to him serving his second term as governer. Understandably Arnold is very much a symbol of the series, but its nice to see one without him. Second: Christian Bale is John Conner. Bale fucking rocked in Batman Begins, and he's pretty good in just about anything else. He's got talent, what else needs to be said? Third: its a different timline. Thanks to the wonders of the internet, you can read all about the time-travel issues in the series, so I won't go explaining it. To summarize though: there's a shit-ton of them. By making a new timeline Salvation frees itself from the drudgery of the other movies; in addition it shows us a part of the Terminator movies that hadn't been seen in detail: the future.

Considering that this is a teaser trailer no one can honestly say that much about the movie itself. You can read about the basic plot online via Wiki (and many other sites I imagine). Its interesting to say the least, but I'll reserve final judgment for when the movie comes out, and whenever I get a chance to see it.

Now they're producing it, underwriting some incredible content producers in the process.

Lo que queda por ver es de que lado estará ya que según parece se confirma que Josh Brolin podría ser el que tomara el relevo de Schwarzenegger.

Dear Skynet, the malevolent artificial intelligence bent on destroying humanity in the Terminator series of movies, comics and a television show,

I think we need to have a chat, man to malevolent artificially intelligent being.

I understand your concerns about your future. Your initial nuclear strike on humanity, while successful, was not the humanity eliminating coup de gras you were expecting. Small bands of men and women survived, and persist in resisting your attempts to destroy them. One, in particular, a man known as John Connor, has been a thorn in your side for many years now.

I understand your idea, though, that John Connor must be killed. All attempts on his life in your time have been more or less unsuccessful, except for that one time. But that's not enough for you. You developed time-travel technology and sent cybernetic killers into the past to kill him so that we would never be a problem.

First you sent one of your basic models, the T-101 to kill his mother, surmising that if his mother is dead, he cannot be born. However, the rebel humans sent one of their own back to warn/help his mother, and together the succeeded in both destroying the T-101 and creating John Conner.

So then you decided to send a more advanced model composed of liquid metal back in time to kill the pre-teen John Connor. The humans, in turn captured one of your T-101s, reprogammed it, and sent it back to defend the future resistance leader. Your T-1000 was destroyed in the process, while Connor lives.

Finally you decided to send a still more advanced Terminator to kill John Connor's liutentants, and John himself, if possible. The humans sent yet another reprogrammed T-101 to help, and your T-X was subsequently destroyed.

One failed attempt is a fluke. Two failed attempts is a coincidence. Three failed attempts is a pattern.

I'm not a very religious man, but there seems to be some kind of supernatural force protecting the Connor family from termination by killer cyborg. I won't go out on a limb and declare him invincible, because he's obviously not since you managed to kill him in your time, but your current tack of "send killer robot into the past to kill John Connor and thus erasing him from existance" isn't working at all.

Might I suggest a new course of action, if you don't mind?

During your second attempt on John Connor's life, we met the director of special projects of Cyberdyne Systems Corp. His name was Miles Dyson, and he is the one, essentially, responsible for your creation. In a manner of speaking, he'd be your father. Instead of continually attempting and failing to kill Connor in the past, why not try, say, sending information to Dr. Dyson, which would ultimately make you more powerful in your time. It stands to reason that sending a handful of Terminators to his time with the instructions to aid him no matter what the cost, you could accellerate your development to the point where when John Connor begins to become a threat, he will merely be an annoyance.

Wouldn't this be a better way to expend your resources, oh great and mighty Skynet?

Also, if you don't mind, I'd like to point out that the help I'm giving you could be invaluble. Could you find it in your cold, mechanical heart to spare myself and my decendents?

Mobile Skynet telah mengembangkan sebuah kode yang dapat dijadikan sebagai sarana untuk mengakses situs Mobile atau juga aplikasi.

SKY CODE

Skycode merupakan salah satu model dari kode QR(Quick Response) yang telah banyak dipergunakan di beberapa Negara, seperti Amerika, Jepang, Korea, Inggris. Dan sekarang ini kode QR ini telah banyak dipergunakan oleh banyak perusahaan-perusahaan besar di dunia untuk mendukung aktifitas pemasaran melalui situs-situs perusahaan mobile yang diakses melalui Mobile Hand-Phone, seperti Business Week, BWM, Three. Kode QR ini dapat disebarkan di tempat-tempat umum, seperti mall, airport, bahkan di tempat pemberhentian bis. Hal ini agar informasi yang disampaikan dapat diakses secara umum melalui Hand-Phone yang saat ini telah banyak dipergunakan oleh masyarakat.

Skycode sebagai salah satu model dari kode QR ini juga dipergunakan untuk memudahkan akses informasi dan interaksi dengan situs-situs mobile yang dikembangkan. Situs-situs mobile ini dapat merupakan situs perusahaan, situs produk, situs pengumuman, situs pembelian tiket, atau juga situs quiz. Sehingga dengan adanya Skycode ini, maka situs mobile yang bersangkutan dapat diakses dengan mudah melalui pembacaan langsung dengan kamera hand-phone tanpa perlunya mengetik alamat situs mobile tersebut.

Disamping untuk memudahkan akses dan interaksi dengan situs Mobile, Skycode mempunyai beberapa fitur yang disiapkan, seperti statistik dari akses melalui kode tersebut, direktori mobile, alamat situs mobile internet yang dapat diubah atau disesuaikan dengan keinginan pelanggan.

Iklan-iklan produk yang biasa disampaikan melalui Billboard, Brosur, Koran ataupun majalah dapat juga dipasangkan Skycode untuk dapat menjelaskan produk-produk tersebut lebih lengkap ataupun informasi terbarunya.

Buku Direktori
Saat ini telah banyak bermunculan buku-buku direktori perusahaan, seperti Yellow Pages, Indonesia Industrial Directory. Skycode dapat dipasangkan pada perusahaan yang berkeinginan profil perusahaannya dapat diketahui lebih lengkap serta produk-produknya.

Quiz
Quiz merupakan pendekatan yang sering dipergunakan untuk mendekatkan pelanggan dengan perusahaan. Skycode dapat dipergunakan untuk menampilkan Quiz-Quiz yang berhubungan dengan produk atau lainnya.

City Guide
Setiap kota mempunyai panduan kota (city guide) untuk memudahkan masyarakatnya, atau terutama touris mengunjungi tempat-tempat yang dapat memberikan kenyamanan atau hiburan. Skycode dapat dipergunakan untuk memberikan akses informasi kota yang bersangkutan dan juga arahnya dengan mudah.

Musium Sejarah
Gedung-gedung bersejarah mempunyai informasi yang perlu disampaikan dengan lebih baik. Skycode dapat dipergunakan untuk menyampaikan informasi yang lebih lengkap, dan juga termasuk photo-photonya.

Bioskop dan Tiket
Bioskop mempunyai jadwal pemutaran film yang telah diagendakan, dan juga sering dilakukan penyebaran iklan melalui media lainnya. Skycode dapat digunakan untuk memberikan informasi film yang bersangkutan, termasuk trailer, wallpaper, soundtrack dapat didownload, dan juga dapat diberikan kemudahan untuk memesan tiket.

Koran atau Majalah
Saat ini Koran dan majalah mempunyai situs Internetnya, dan kadangkala mempunyai berita singkat yang baru diperolehnya. Skycode dapat dipergunakan untuk akses berita terkini dari Koran atau majalah yang bersangkutan.

1. Install QR Barcode Reader
Pertamakali perlu diinstall QR Barcode Reader ke dalam Mobile Hand-Phone kita. Kita bahkan dapat mempunyai beberapa Reader dalam hand-phone jika diperlukan. Untuk pemilik Nokia N93 dan N80, sangat beruntung karena telah ada aplikasi Reader di dalam tipe hand-phone tersebut. QR Barcode Reader ini dapat membaca Skycode dengan baik, karena Skycode masih termasuk dari keluarga QR Code. Silahkan masuk ke http://www.mobileskynet.com untuk mengetahui aplikasi Reader yang bersesuaian dengan mobile yang dimiliki.

2. Arahkan Pada Skycode
Semua QR Barcode Reader akan memanfaatkan kamera yang telah ada di Hand-Phone untuk mengambil gambar Skycode. Pada saat kita mengambil Skycode dengan aplikasi QR Reader ini diperlukan sekitar satu detik untuk diterjemahkan dan selanjutnya masuk ke alamat situs Mobile yang dituju.

3. Membaca Situs Mobile
Pada saat alamat situs Mobile dapat diterjemahkan, kita dapat membaca informasi atau isi yang terdapat dalam situs mobile yang bersangkutan. Skycode mempunyai fitur perhitungan jumlah yang melakukan klik akses melalui kode yang menjadi sasaran. Sehingga perusahaan atau organisasi dapat mengetahui dan menganalisa statistik dari jumlah yang mengakses situs atau aplikasi mobilenya dengan baik.

Skycode merupakan bentuk pengkodean dari sebuah alamat internet yang direlasikan dengan situs Mobile yang menjadi target pernampilan di layar Mobile Hand-Phone. Skycode ini dapat disebarkan melalui media-media yang dimiliki perusahaan, seperti kartu nama, kop surat, brosur, iklan Koran atau majalah, bahkan mungkin di billboard terbuka yang dapat dilihat oleh masyarakat secara luas.

Con el lanzamiento de un nuevo satélite de comunicaciones, los militares británicos han completado una gran red avanzada que permita controlar unidades robóticas militares a larga distancia. ¿Suena algo familiar? De hecho, el proyecto fue llamado Skynet (WTF?!). Cuando los T-1000s toquen a tu puerta, habrá que estar atentos a las etiquetas "Made in UK". 

Skynet 5 es la última iteración de un sistema mundial de comunicaciones desplegados por las Fuerzas Armadas del Reino Unido. El último satélite en el sistema se puso en marcha esta semana, y permitirá alto ancho de banda de telecomunicaciones entre las fuerzas británicas situadas en cualquier lugar del mundo. Además de comunicaciones de voz, permitirá la transferencia de datos y el control remoto de aviones robots, uno de los cuales se llama "La Reaper".

¿Todavía no estas aterrorizado? Esto se vuelve mejor. El sistema es en realidad desarrollado por una empresa privada - las Fuerzas Armadas Británicas han sido prometidas sólo con una parte del ancho de banda como parte del contrato. El único aspecto alentador es que la empresa no se llama Cyberdyne.

Ya solo queda la esperanza de que los escritores de la serie "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" nos den una salida a este apocalíptico problema.

To Bath to meet Dr Adrian Bowyer, the father of the world's first self-replicating machine. The RepRapis a kind of 3-D printer that can fashion fairly crude objects out of molten plastic.  Last week, Bowyer appeared at the Cheltenham Science Festival with Vik Olliver and a pair of RepRaps.  The Second machine had been partially (though significantly) fabricated from a "parent" machine.  The pair are claiming it as a major step forward towards a self-replicating machine.

Talk to most lay-people about self-replicating machines and most start talking about Terminator movies and the fictional Skynet computer that will eventually take over the world. Delightful nonsense of course, but self-replicating machines could eventually assist developing countries develop a cheaper form of manufacture.

Like his original RepRap machine, Bowyer is the father of the RepRap rather than the inventor. Although he came up with the concept, many others have contributed. It was Olliver's machine that begot the first "child", not Bowyer's. This is because Bowyer has open sourced his ideas, effectively giving them to the whole world and waving goodbye to potential profits. Although as he told me, its very difficult to make money from a self-replicating machine. You could probably only sell the first one.

The apparent players actually serve various roles in the swindle: they act as lookouts for the police; they also serve as "muscle" to intimidate marks who become unruly and some are shills, whose job is to pretend to play the game, and entice the mark into betting.

• La película se desarrollará tras el Día del Juicio pero antes del año 2029, año en que Kyle Reese y un T-800 viajan al pasado, en busca de Sarah Connor.
• Al ser anterior a ese año 2029, para darle más realismo, el T-800 aun no se habrá descubierto.
• En su lugar, existirá un T-600. Un terminator de casi dos metros y medio, que aparecerá más viejo y sucio. Dicho T-600 fue nombrado en la primera película The Terminator, se aseguraba que tenían piel de goma y que eran muy faciles de reconocer.
• También habrá una serie de vehículos robotizados:
  • Hydrobots - Para desplazarse por el agua
  • Transports - Tranportan prisioneros de un lugar a otro
  • Harvesters - Recolectan humanos vivos para experimentos de Skynet
  • Aerostats - Vehiculos que surcan los cielos cargandose humanos.

En la 4ª peli quizá veamos como se engendran los terminator. ¿Será así? xD

Respecto a la tan criticada calificación moral que le van a poner: PG-13, el director McG ha comentado que Batman Begins tuvo esa calificación y cumplió con las expectativas de sus seguidores.
