While searching around the internet, I came across this website that it actually really good. I, myself, am someone who loves to keep up on gaming news. Usually I like to use a few independent gaming news sites, and Kotaku. Today I present to you a gaming website that hasn't really been around that long. It is "Powered by Sci-Fi". The rough idea behind the plan is that an elevator would be made to take humans into space using a genius counterweight system.

Le possibilità sono numerose, dal nuoto allo sci, dalla pallavolo al calcio, ma anche canoa, golf e tennis!

E' possibile trovare gruppi italiani di nuoto a Verona, Bologna, Roma, Torino e Milano. Le associazioni, denominate "Gruppo Pesce", nascono spesso da un'accozzaglia di amici per dare un' occasione alle persone di incontrarsi e di praticare sport in un ambiente allegro e amichevole, ma con la voglia di mettersi in gioco!

Per la pallavolo esistono il Bogavolley a Bologna, il GateVolley a Milano, le Ienevolley a Brescia e il MaterialGuys a Firenze. Questi ultimi hanno partecipato a molti tornei italiani ed ad alcuni tornei internazionali tra i quali gli EuroGames 2008 di Barcellona dove la squadra ha vinto la medaglia d'argento del suo livello.

Per praticare lo sci basta rivolgersi allo SciG di Milano o allo SciG Veneto, che tra le altre cose propone delle uscite domenicali che prevedono pranzo con degustazione vini in cantina!

Per quanto riguarda il tennis è possibile partecipare al gruppo A.T.Omo di Milano o ad un'associazione nata da poco con sede a Roma, Torino e Pisa: il gruppo Yellow. Quest'ultimo è stato il primo gruppo in Italia che ha adottato la parità tra uomini e donne all'interno del direttivo. Inoltre ha organizzato interessanti iniziative durante il corso dell'anno, come il "Torneo Fiori di Pesco" a Maggio, un torneo all'interno del Les Week tenutosi a Luglio a Torre del Lago, ed è previsto il "Torneo della Vendemmia" a Roma il 4 e 5 Ottobre.

L'esistenza di associazioni sportive gay o gay friendly è molto importante dal momento che è assai diffusa la discriminazione degli omosessuali in questo ambito, rischiando di essere esclusi o non presi sul serio.

Ricordate le affermazioni di Moggi di qualche mese fa? "Un omosessuale non può fare il calciatore!"

Quanti professionisti devono addirittura temere di perdere il posto in squadra e i contratti con gli sponsor? Lo sport dovrebbe proporsi di diffondere l'integrazione di tutti, anche degli omosessuali, nella società, offrendo un modello positivo di visibilità, aggregazione e impegno.

La lotta alla discriminazione per le persone Lesbiche e Gay, tramite lo sport, ha visto Roma al centro di un dibattito grazie alla candidatura della capitale ai ‘Gay Games' Europei del 2011, denominati EUROGAMES, che sono le olimpiadi Gay che coinvolgono oltre 40 Nazioni e 8.000 atleti lesbiche e gay impegnati in più di 20 discipline sportive.

Così ha dichiarato l'On. Paola Concia:

"La Regione Lazio è intenzionata a supportare questo tipo di eventi sempre con maggior forza ed impegno, in quanto, riteniamo la lotta alle discriminazioni un elemento prioritario della nostra azione di governo. Inoltre, chiederemo anche il supporto di altre istituzioni ed Enti, per mostrare ai club gay di tutta Europa, che l'Italia è pronta anche per ospitare competizioni sportive internazionali a sostegno delle battaglie contro le discriminazioni, al pari delle altre nazioni europee."

La prima leggenda dello sci alpino e la genesi del Campionato Mondiale

“Il mio campo di allenamento è il pascolo, tagliare la legna è il migliore allenamento”. Queste le parole con cui un ragazzino austriaco poco più che ventenne, appena diventato campione del mondo di slalom, rispose ai giornalisti increduli che gli chiesero come fosse mai riuscito a distaccare il secondo arrivato, il connazionale Gustav Lantschner, di ben 10 secondi!

Il ragazzino in questione si chiamava Toni Seelos e l’anno era il 1933, a Innsbruck si stava disputando il Campionato del Mondo di sci alpino. Era un competizione giovane, giunta appena alla terza edizione (la cadenza biennale sarebbe stata istituita nel 1948), e i praticanti provenivano in gran parte dalla regione delle Alpi, poichè gli scandinavi, data anche la conformazione geomorfica delle loro terre, preferivano lo sci di fondo.

La FIS (dal francese Fédération Internationale de Ski) venne istituita il 2 Febbraio 1924, e nei primi anni di attività si occupò esclusivamente della promozione dello sci nordico. A partire dal 1928 su proposta dei paesi alpini (Svizzera, Francia e Italia) pose la sua attenzione anche sulla variante alpina includendo le gare di slalom e discesa libera. Fu però necessario vincere la resistenza dei paesi scandinavi, che in principio osteggiarono apertamente tale proposta.

Il 25 Febbraio 1930 si convocò a Oslo una riunione dei vertici federali. Il delegato svizzero Karl Danneger aprì il dibattito con una spiegazione delle regole delle due “nuove” discipline, nell’estremo tentativo di convincere i delegati svedesi, norvegesi e finlandesi a rivedere le loro posizioni. Quando il rappresentante della Federazione Norvegese N.R. Östgaard (futuro presidente FIS dal 1934) prese la parola comunicò ai presenti che le tre federazioni scandinave non avevano invece alcun motivo per impedire l’ingresso dello sci alpino all’interno della FIS. Fu una decisione storica e inaspettata. I tre presidenti scandinavi si erano riuniti in maniera informale il pomeriggio del giorno prima per concordare il cambiamento di linea. Tra l'incredulità generale l’allora presidente federale Ivar Holmquist fu ben lieto di aggiungere al paragrafo 3 del regolamento la dicitura “Downhill and Slalom races may be organized”¹.

La prima competizione mondiale venne organizzata dal 19 al 23 Febbraio 1931 a Mürren, in Svizzera. Le gare maschili furono appannaggio della squadra svizzera che aveva i suoi assi in David Zogg e Walter Prager, mentre la pattuglia britannica dominò lo slalom e la discesa femminili con la diciottenne Esmè McKinnon. In questa edizione un giovanissimo Seelos partecipò alla gara di slalom, riuscendo a piazzarsi secondo. Utilizzava ancora quella che allora era la tecnica classica: la “Stemm Cristiania”.

L'evoluzione della tecnica e l'espansione della disciplina sportiva

Seelos fu il primo sciatore di cui si ha memoria che affrontò una gara di slalom mantenendo gli sci paralleli per tutta la lunghezza del tracciato, il che gli consentì di segnare tempi incredibili per l’epoca. Anni di studi e di esperimenti gli avevano consentito di elaborare questo tipo di sciata che lui denominò "Parallel Cristiania". La maggioranza degli sciatori agonisti infatti adottava una tecnica denominata “Stemm Cristiania”, che se da una parte consentiva una velocità costante sia in curva che in dritto dall’altra non permetteva di accelerare oltre un certo limite, oltre il quale solitamente si perdeva il controllo, con esiti non troppo positivi. Si trattava in sostanza di un’antenata della tecnica “Spazzaneve” che oggi viene utilizzata a fini didattici dai maestri per far prendere confidenza ai neofiti con lo sci alpino.

La “Stemm Cristiania” fu inventata dall’austriaco di Sankt Anton Hannes Scheneider. Egli migliorò la “Stemmbogen” di Giorgio Bilgeri, che per primo concepì una sciata impostata prevalentemente sugli arti inferiori e il bacino con l'ausilio dei due bastoncini.

Prima di allora lo sci aveva una connotazione estremamente diversa da quella che si conosce oggi. Non c'era un concetto comune di sci come "strumento": ogni regione montana possedeva un suo modello tipico, adatto alle necessità d'uso che il luogo imponeva. Non fu casuale la nascita dello sci di fondo in Scandinavia, terra pianeggiante e con pochi rilievi eccezion fatta per le Alpi Scandinave, un complesso orografico tuttavia molto vecchio che non garantiva pendenze utili alla pratica dello sci da discesa.

Nelle Alpi il boom dello sci, in precenza riservato a pochissimi "spericolati", si deve principalmente a Sir Arnold Lunn, titolare di un agenzia di viaggi inglese specializzata nell'accompagnare viaggiatori facoltosi a compiere escursioni e a sciare. Nel 1924 sull'onda del successo di questi viaggi Lunn fondò il Kandahar Ski Club e l'anno successivo il D.O.C., "Downhill Only Club", organizzando così le primissime "settimane bianche". Nel 1931 insieme al già menzionato Hannes Scheneider progettò la prima edizione del Campionato del Mondo di sci alpino riconosciuta ufficialmente dalla FIS.

Le vittorie mondiali e la beffa olimpica

Nel 1933 il Campionato del Mondo si tenne a Innsbruck, a pochi chilometri di distanza da dove sorgeva il paesino d'origine di Toni, Seefeld: un centro di 3000 abitanti, famoso fin dal medioevo per la produzione di birra e la silvicoltura. Quell'anno Seelos si presentò al cancelletto di partenza dello slalom con in testa l'idea di sbaragliare gli avversari: sapeva di avere dalla sua parte una tecnica praticamente sconosciuta, ma assolutamente vincente.

Dopo la partenza i paletti sfilarono uno dopo l'altro. Destra, sinistra, ancora destra, una doppia, ecco il traguardo. Al termine della gara il suo tempo risultò il migliore. Allora non venivano conteggiati i decimi di secondo (oggi si calcolano anche i centesimi) ma un conto del genere sarebbe stato inutile: aveva vinto l'oro con una facilità estrema. Sul secondo gradino del podio sarebbe salito un altro austriaco, il cui tempo era di dieci secondi superiore a quello di Seelos: un infinità anche per l'epoca.

Dominò gli altri concorrenti anche in combinata, vincendo il secondo oro in una singola edizione, impresa mai compiuta in precedenza ad uno sciatore uomo.

Due anni dopo il campionato mondiale si svolse nuovamente a Mürren. Quella edizione fu un successo netto per l'intera squara austriaca che conquistò con il solito Seelos sia lo slalom che la combinata e con Franz Zingerle la discesa libera. Questi tre ori, a cui si aggiunserò anche un argento e un bronzo, consentirono all'Austria di concludere la manifestazione al primo posto del medagliere, mettendosi alle spalle Germania e Svizzera.

Dopo i successi ottenuti ai campionati del mondo l'alloro olimpico sarebbe dovuto essere una formalità. La IV Olimpiade Invernale venne organizzata nel 1936 in quella Germania nella quale pochi mesi prima furono emanate le tristemente note Leggi di Norimberga. La cerimonia di apertura del 10 Febbraio a Garmisch fu presieduta ufficialmente dallo stesso Hitler. Nonostante ciò tutti gli appassionati si aspettarono di vedere ancora una volta Toni intento ad umiliare un avversario dopo l'altro, ma il Comitato Olimpico Internazionale impedì la sua partecipazione: Seelos si guadagnava da vivere facendo il maestro di sci, mestiere che secondo i dirigenti olimpici lo elevava allo status di professionista e pertanto non corrispondente a criteri di partecipazione ad un Olimpiade.

Non fu l'unico sciatore a dover rinunciare a gareggiare (molti altri atleti svizzeri e austriaci furono "accusati" di professionismo) e così si accontentò di fare l'apripista della gara di slalom, facendo comunque fermare il cronometro sei secondi prima del vincitore olimpico. Anche se non ufficialmente, aveva fatto suo anche quello slalom e poco importa se gli almanacchi riportano un altro nome sotto la dicitura "campione olimpico".

Poco dopo il ritiro dalle competizioni agonistiche fu costretto ad emigrare in Francia: il 10 Aprile 1938 Hitler fece il suo ingresso trionfale a Vienna, proclamando l'Anschluss il giorno successivo. Nel paese transalpino Seelos intraprese la carriera di allenatore, conducendo la nazionale del paese che lo aveva accolto a successi mai ottenuti prima.

L'anno scorso in Fassa, durante un pranzo, la discussione è finita a parlare di innevamento artificiale, e un responsabile della promozione si è lanciato in difesa del "sistema", argomentando con quello che a me è sembrato un ragionamento bizzarro.

"Noi non rubiamo l'acqua" ha detto in sostanza "non la sprechiamo, ci limitiamo solo a *trattenerla* per innevare le piste, poi la rilasciamo".

Mi è venuto in mente il mio orto: cosa succederebbe se annaffiassi regolarmente per un certo periodo, poi niente acqua per mesi quindi, quando tutto è ben secco, inondando con acqua a ettolitri?

D'accordo, le montagne in inverno non sono un orto, eppure sembra difficile pensare che questo gigantesco prelievo d'acqua non abbia alcun effetto sulla natura. Su tutte le Alpi e soprattutto nel Trentino ci sono impianti di sci dappertutto, e praticamente ovunque c'è l'innevamento artificiale per le piste, che consuma una quantità enorme d'acqua, per non parlare del consumo elettrico.

Noi non ce ne rendiamo conto ma certamente c'è flora, fauna e microfauna che dell'acqua piovana hanno bisogno anche in inverno. E se gli effetti in montagna di questa siccità artificiale sono forse poco evidenti, certamente in pianura le conseguenze sono maggiori perché la portata di torrenti e fiumi viene notevolmente ridotta. Non ragiono bene?

Estas son algunas impresiones y reflexiones sobre la participación de Labein-Tecnalia en la feria FUTUREBUILD/ECOBUILD de Londres en Febrero de 2007. 

Se celebraron conferencias y seminarios en paralelo sobre construcción sostenible -ECOBUILD-, la construcción del futuro - FUTUREBUILD-  basada en Industrialización (OFF-SITE CONSTRUCTION),  Regeneración y Comunidades Sostenibles, han sido algunos de los campos tratados.

El sector de la construcción en Inglaterra se mueve entorno a la nueva normativa que entrará en vigor en Abril,  basada en ECOHOMES (aplicación de la normativa de sostenibilidad del sistema BREEM desarrollado por el Instituto de investigación BRE).  Así como en España el movimiento actual es entorno al CTE (Requisitos mínimos de habitabilidad), en Inglaterra ya van por delante introduciendo un sistema de certificación de la sostenibilidad obligatorio. 

Se aprecia un cambio cultural abismal hacia la sostenibilidad y los nuevos Métodos Modernos de Construcción (MCC) basados en la industrialización (Off-Site Construction, OSC) y prefabricación compitiendo con las técnicas tradicionales para demostrar sus ventajas frente a la sostenibilidad. 

Las alternativas actuales a la construcción tradicional que se están impulsando desde el sector son: la construcción en acero (módulos integrales en fábrica, Steel Construction) y construcción con estructuras de madera (wooden timber frames), y en menor medida los elementos constructivos de hormigón prefabricado (consideran mayor flexibilidad que la fabricación de módulos volumétricos). 

Algunos de los slogans utilizados son: Ecohomes, Sustainable Homes, Futurebuild, Constructing Excellence, Towards Zero Carbon,   Sustainable Comunities,  Off-site Construction, Modern Methods for construction, The carbon challenge, The customer driven strategy,  Volumetric Construction, Refurnishment for the Future,  Zero Carbon Home, Towards Zero Emission, Living Steel, Intelligent Steel, Steel-City,.....

Hay un entramado de asociaciones o grupos de interés entorno a los nuevos modelos modernos de construcción (MMC) y a la construcción industrializada (Off-Site Construction), tanto desde la industria como desde las administraciones.  Algunas de ellas son:  Comisión para el Desarrollo Sostenible (SDC), Steel Home Group, The housing forum-constructing excellence, Agencia Nacional de Regeneración (English partnership)..... 

Dentro de los agentes que impulsan el proceso del cambio también se encuentran los arquitectos. The Royal Institute of British Architects (Instituto Real Británico de Arquitectos) participa activamente en las iniciativas y son expertos en MMC (Modern Methods for Construction); defiende las ventajas de estos nuevos métodos respecto al tradicional en una apuesta firme por la industrialización (presenta diversos ejemplos de instalación incluso con datos de tiempos de ensamblado de módulos de sólo 4 días); comenta que es necesario cambiar el ciclo de coste de vida de la vivienda: ahora el coste es proporcionalmente de 0,1 para el diseño, 1 el coste del edificio, 5 el mantenimiento y 200 el uso del propietario.

 Es de destacar el papel del centro de investigación BRE y del Instituto de construcción en acero (Steel Construction Institute, SCI) en todo el cambio de cultura promovido entre administración e industria del sector.

 Métodos modernos de construcción en acero (Off-Site Construction)

Protagonismo absoluto del Instituto de la Construcción en Acero (SCI) y del fabricante de acero CORUS.

Corus (Terry Goodwin) nos convence de ¿Qué haríamos sin acero? mediante un video "STEEL and YOU".  Define a SCI como la voz independiente del acero en UK. 

Insisten en las oportunidades del acero en cuanto a: 

• demostrar ahorro de energía, minimización de residuos y reciclabilidad, reducción de polución en obra, cumplimiento e Kyoto, índice de carbono, certificación de sostenibilidad Breem, etc.
• la obra demanda menor ruido, polvo, polución, tráfico y mayor seguridad.

En UK, el acero tiene su gran oportunidad en los Juegos Olímpicos del 2012, y esperan que a partir de ellos esta industria naciente del acero en construcción residencial se incremente de forma espectacular.  Hasta ahora, se han estado preparando para el crecimiento futuro.

 Presenta las líneas de I+D actuales: 

• "Living Steel", programa de premios (competición) a proyectos que impulsan el acero en construcción.
• Proyecto europeo Manubuild, resolviendo aspectos técnicos de uniones y desarrollando herramientas de software de apoyo entre otros.
• Procesos de fabricación de acero de emisión ultra-baja de CO₂ (ultra low CO₂ steelmaking).
• Transferencia tecnológica entorno a "Intelligent Steel/Sustainable Cosntruction".
• Desarrollan nuevos productos combinando acero con PV (paneles fotovoltaicos).

El SCI (Martin Heywood) habló del informe sobre los beneficios de la construcción industrializada  en el que DTI y Coros han comparado técnicas OSC con tradicionales  recogiendo aspectos como residuos, movimiento de camiones, velocidad de ejecución de obra, etc. analizando tanto casos reales como en fase de proyecto y destacando las oportunidades que presentan las técnicas OSC.

El resto de ponentes presentaron numerosos ejemplos reales donde se demuestra la velocidad de instalación: por ejemplo, una prisión en 12 meses, un hotel de 100 habitaciones con 10 meses de proyecto, 10 de fabricación y 3 de instalación.  1380 módulos,  1157 camas/estudios en 90 días.

También citan repercusión en costes. Se reducen en 1,6% debido a la rapidez de ejecución en obra; 1,8% debido a reducción de imprevistos y riesgos en obra; 5,1% debido a la temprana ocupación de usuarios respecto a construcción tradicional en la que tardarían mayor tiempo en instalarse. 

Otra iniciativa real presentada fue la oportunidad de construir encima de edificios existentes (levantar en altura) no ocupando suelo adicional mediante módulos industrializados.  

Se presentaron numerosos casos reales del proceso de fabricación, transporte, instalación de los módulos en obras reales. 

También se presentó un caso de patentes de fachadas prefabricadas (KINGSPAN) y su sistema de transporte dentro de un contenedor (minimizando embalajes, residuos, número de camiones y por lo tanto polución y ruido.....) y por lo tanto, como sistema orientado a la sostenibilidad  y certificado Breem (Kingsframe architectural facade system).  Tardan 22´ en instalar cada módulo de fachada y realizan entre 12-15 módulos por día.   No solo disponen de acreditaciones de sostenibilidad, sino también térmico-acústico, permeabilidad al aire, fuego, el control de producción y el control de la instalación.

El objetivo de la jornada era la presentación de la estrategia del Departamento de Vivienda y Asuntos Sociales del Gobierno Vasco en relación con la innovación, la industrialización y la sostenibilidad, así como dar a conocer experiencias que en este ámbito se están desarrollando tanto a nivel internacional como en la CAPV.

Innovación, Industrialización y Sostenibilidad han sido los temas centrales de debate, intentando combinar experiencias de ponentes relevantes a nivel europeo con experiencias realizadas en el País Vasco.

El acto fue coordinado por Mertxe Fernández, del Departamento de Vivienda y Asuntos Sociales del Gobierno Vasco y presentado por Mª Pilar Garrido, Directora de Vivienda, Innovación y Control del Dpto. Vivienda y Asuntos Sociales del Gobierno Vasco, quién explicó las estrategias del Departamento en los campos de la Industrialización y la Sostenibilidad.

En materia de industrialización la jornada contó con representantes de:

• SCI - Steel Construction Institute (R. Marc Lawson) presentado experiencias internacionales sobre industrialización.

• Modultec (Luis Buznego) que basó su ponencia en  "Construcciones modulares"

• VISESA (Juanjo López) quien presentó la experiencia en el País Vasco en la promoción  de Zabalgana basada en industrialización en hormigón.

• Universidad politécnica de Madrid (Sergio Vega) quien presentó el proyecto Solar Decathlon
