A frugal businessman walked into prestigous bank in Central London and asked to see the loan officer. He told the loan officer that he was going out of town for two weeks and needed a £5,000 loan. The loan officer told the business man that there had to be some type of insurance on the loan. One option was to offer up some collateral. The businessman said he had a Rolls Royce parked outside that he could offer as collateral. The bank employees checked out the vehicle and parked it in the bank’s underground garage.

The businessman returned two weeks later to pay back the loan and retrieve his car. He paid back the £5,000 and the interest which totaled about £15. While he was away, the bank was able to check his account status. They noticed he had millions of pounds in the bank. One employee asked him why he would need a £5,000 loan. The businessman replied, “Where else in London can I park my car for two weeks for fifteen pound?

Let it be known that Tan Sri George Chan and Tan Sri Alfred Jabu are being chauferred around in BMW 735s as their official cars. Well, why not since the dear CM himself goes around in a Rolls Royce? It seems the roads in Kuching are so unsafe these days. Rumours have it that George Chan claims he only feels safe riding in a BMW 7 series, nothing less. Or could it be Kuching boasts far more prominent foreign visitors than Terengganu, hence the bigger flashier cars to impress them! ;) Or could it be, that these people are 'the untouchables'?

Now, how much does a Rolls Royce cost in Malaysia? I'm curious really. Let's do a quick google and check it out. Here's what I found.

A standard wheelbase model in the UK costs around £260,000; the extended version around £300,000. So if you want to import that into Malaysia, it will be around RM1.8 Million for the Standard Version and RM2.1 Million for Extended Version before tax. Take the import tax which is around 200% and add it to the price off the road in Malaysia. It should add up to around RM5.4 Million for the Standard Version and RM6.3 Million for the Extended type.

Now, I'm clueless when it comes to cars and their jargon. I don't know which type our dear CM of Kuching owns but let's say he owned the Standard Version (the cheaper one mentioned above) of a Rolls Royce, which costs RM5.4 mil, that's still approximately RM2 mil cheaper than what the Terengganu government spent on their 14 Mercedes Benz.

So if you compare, the CM of Kuching's official car which is already worth more than the 14 Mercedes Benzs the Terengganu government purchased! It's not that bad really. Is it??? On second thoughts, judging by the car he drives. I think CM Taib Mahmud should be our Prime Minister instead!

Sad, but true!

Makes sense, then, that when you pull up in front of "The Villa" - and a swarm of ravenous paparazzi descend on 'ya - that your Beamer, Benz, or boxy Volvo gleams under the light of the silvery moon.

God forbid you should be busted for a DUI in a late model sedan with a nick or two in the door and a swirl of dead leaves decaying beneath the windshield wipers.

At Santa Palm Car Wash in West Hollywood, a crew of uniformed experts is prepared to slap that auto into tip-top shape, but the detailing will cost you extra!

First time I heard the term - "detailing" - I shook my head.

Say what?

It's an anal retentive's ideal approach to a "car wash" - with an emphasis on painstaking nerve-racking attention - to the essential nitty-gritty. At Santa Palm, for instance, a gang of veritable whiz kids add sparkle to the chrome grill, luster to the interior headrests, and a dash of spit-and-polish to set off those hub-caps.

Yeah, no crevice, crack, or crawl space goes unchecked!

In a nutshell, it's a Hollywood-style fancy-smantzy way to extract a few extra bucks from the tony elite!

But, Santa Palm Car Wash stands out from the others - if only for its celebrated clientele - who swear by the foo-foo experience.

In fact, many of the glittering elite snap up a glossy still from their portfolio before they head out to the popular scrub joint, sign a heartfelt note to "Sam" (the owner), then mingle among the other notables out front as the minions work magic on their precious glide mobiles.

In the old days - when I first sauntered into Tinsel town with stars in my eyes - quite a few of the local merchants were inclined to tack up a dog-eared publicity still or two at the entrance of their establishment.

It was great for stirring up a bit of idle chit-chat - and a much-needed distraction - as the customers lolled about and waited patiently for the cashier to rustle up the dry cleaning or discreetly pack up and tally the liquor tab.

At Santa Palm the tradition is a class act!

At "Sam's", each keepsake is a veritable treasure; framed under pressed glass on a custom-made wall that stretches all along one side of the scrubbing paraphernalia.

The collection is quite amazing and includes: a dashing Dudley Moore astride a pristine Roll Royce; a perky Shirley Jones beaming a winning smile (a dead moth managed to settle inside the frame of her mug shot, somehow); a faded shot of Ann Miller (with a boa constricting her); a chubby-faced Rock Hudson lookin' a little worse for wear (must have been in the "McMillan and Wife days". That catered food will pack on the pounds, fer sure!), and one of my faves, actress Ann Gillian (I acted in "This Wife for Hire" with the sexy talented woman a few years back).

In addition to the actors, mixed in for good measure, are a handful of celebs from the music biz; The Temptations, in a snazzy band shot; Kiss, dolled up in a ghoulish, signature get-up; Cher, with her foot resting on a barbell, of all things (must have been in the days when she was into bagel boys, I guess); and Edgar Winter caressing his horn.

Some photos are faded, others poorly lit. A few are slick and professional, with the names of Managers and Agents stylishly etched on the edges, for easy reference. 'Ya never know, the exposure may land a bookin'.

On occasion, the personalities peer out like old friends from the past; for example, Sally Struthers posing in her thin days; gorgeous Farrah Fawcett enticing gawkers with a publicity still taken at the height of her poster power (when teen-age boys pined for her as a Charlie's Angel); Jimmy Connors spinning a winning ball; while a weathered mug of Columbo comforts, as he tokes on a crusty cigar.

Holy cheese whiz, Batman! There's Robin in his kitschy get-up, too.

So many stars in the great firmament.

And a mug or two that faded away into oblivion.

Maybe memory doesn't serve me well, but there appears to be a face - and a name or two - that just don't jangle any bells.

Don Blanton? Blair Ashley? And who the heck is the male fitness model - with just one name - Sebastian?

Speaking of one name-wonders...Angelina didn't make the cut, doesn't grace the wall; but, Fabio does - go figure!

Yup, pecker - um - pec power goes a long way in Tinsel town.

Ah, all the stars that never were, are pumping gas and parking cars?

Then, there are the "Tony Orlandos", plugging weight-loss programs for suburbanites, waiting for the fickle finger of fate to turn around.

Heh, come backs are big in Hollywood.

Hold on to that memorabilia; it may be worth big bucks one day!

So to give his Drophead that distinct Beckham look, he had the wheels changed to a 24-inch custom built Savini Forged wheels, had the color of the exterior trims match with the finish of the car and had his famous number 23 placed on the car seats. The two-door Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead was first unveiled last January 2007 at the Detroit Motor Show with production commencing in the summer of the same year. Trattasi di un cacciabombardiere supersonico multiruolo di 5° generazione ad alto contenuto tecnologico, contraddistinto da bassa osservabilità radar-termica-acustica-visiva (stealthness). Verrà prodotto in tre versioni ad alta comunanza di componenti:
F-35A, versione per le piste convenzionali;
F-35B, versione a decollo corto ed atterraggio verticale;
F-35C, per decolli a catapulta ed atterraggi col gancio sulle grandi portaerei della US Navy.
Il programma si articola in quattro fasi:
System Development and Demonstration (SDD), della durata di dieci anni, con completamento entro il 2012, durante i quali verrà portato avanti sia lo sviluppo dei sistemi del velivolo che i relativi test, condotti tramite 19 esemplari già in linea di volo od in fase di produzione;
Production, Sustainment and Follow-on Development (PSFD) in cui vengono delineate le partecipazioni industriali, l’impegno economico ed i requisiti dei singoli partner del progetto complessivo;
Low-Rate Initial Production (LRIP), con inizio nel 2009 e conclusione indicativamente nel 2015, in cui avverrà una produzione a basso ritmo (poco più di venti velivoli al mese);
Full Rate Production (FRIP), cioé la produzione a pieno regime.
Il programma trae beneficio da una serie di studi condotti negli Stati Uniti negli anni ’80 e ’90 del secolo scorso, nell’ambito del Joint Advanced Strike Technology riguardo nuove tecnologie in grado di essere applicate su un futuro aereo d’attacco comune a US Air Force, US Navy e US Marines. Nel 1997 fu definito Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) il requisito per un velivolo in grado di soddisfare tale scopo e due consorzi concorrenti guidati da Lockheed Martin e Boeing vinsero la gara per la definizione e realizzazione del primo prototipo, che si concretizzò nel 2000.
Venne quindi selezionato il prototipo della statunitense Lockheed Martin, con quartier generale a Bethesda, Maryland e fatturato di 42 miliardi di dollari nel 2007 (che è il primary contractor, affiancata da Northrop Grumman, BAE Systems, Pratt & Whitney, General Electric e Rolls Royce quali principali subcontractors) come vincitore della competizione ed il gruppo ottenne un contratto da 19 miliardi di dollari per lo sviluppo e la produzione del JSF. BAE System è invece capo commessa per le due nuove portaerei della Royal Navy sulle quali opereranno i 138 F-35B britannici.
Il programma ha assunto una significativa dimensione internazionale con la firma di un accordo di cooperazione fra Stati Uniti, Gran Bretagna, Italia, Olanda, Turchia, Canada, Australia, Danimarca e Norvegia avvenuta nel 2002, che ha fatto del JSF il più grande programma aeronautico internazionale dell’era moderna.
Il 15 dicembre 2006 ha avuto luogo il primo volo di un F-35A, mentre l'F-35B ha fatto il suo esordio lo scorso 10 giugno sui cieli del Texas, guidato dall'ex pilota RAF Graham Tomlinson, compiendo la prima delle 5.000 uscite previste nei prossimi cinque anni.
All’inizio del 2007, le nove nazioni partner hanno firmato – dopo numerose discussioni sulle partecipazioni industriali ed i trasferimenti di tecnologia – l’accordo di prosecuzione per la fase successiva di PSFD.
L'F-35B sarà la prima delle tre varianti del Lightning II a ottenere l'Ioc (Initial operational capability), con l’entrata in servizio, in dotazione ai Marines, nel 2012. La capacità operativa iniziale verrà poi raggiunta dagli F-35A e, nel 2014, dagli F-35C.

The popular car magazine Motor Trend estimates an output of approximately 1,000 RR4s per year, which does not compare well with the Bentley Continental production (about 8000 Continentals are produced in one year). However, Rolls Royce CEO Ian Robertson comments that "it will be significantly more expensive than the Bentley." Pricing is expected to start somewhere in the neighborhood of $350,000.

Taking the basic styling model from the Phantom and the underbody from the next-generation BMW 7 Series, it will be smaller than the Phantom and have much different proportions than the new 7 Series. The car is still very impacting, but more swept back and less imposing than the Phantom. Just as usual, the wheels are half the height of the entire vehicle, which help create the grand, elevated style of all the Rolls Royce models.

Originally it was thought that RR4 would be fitted with a V8 engine as featured in the new X6. Now it is near certain the RR4 will boast BMW's all new V12 engine, which will also be the power behind the new 7 Series. Providing more torque and only a little less hp than the V12, the V8 seems to overshadow it and make it seem puny. However, you can expect an improved version of the V12 giving more than 470 hp. Regardless, the new RR4 will pack far more punch than necessary.

It is hard to say whether the future of the RR4 will pay off or not. While it may offer more diversity in the Rolls Royce lineup, it may also steal sales away from the more expensive, flagship Phantom. Obviously those at Rolls Royce are inclined to think more positively. Of one thing we can be sure: it sure will be exciting.

I have to mow the lawns, and also build an amplifier for a man. Then I am working tomorrow Sunday 29th, so I may possibly hand down some Godly per-oration (on Sunday 29th June) pm but I don't yet know what, so I don't promise anything yet.

It does rather depend on what aspects of applied Gramsco-Marxianism (as applied daily by the British State to the people which are elected and dismissed periodically by it) that I decide to be irked by on the day. I may even then write about it, and about what ought to be done with the buggers, to ensure their re-socialisation as individual human beings living in a Market Civilisation.

We regard today's protest as a success in many ways from both sides protesters and the police, who actually put the protesters playing music over the red line ordered by the secretary of state. Dorothy who's bail conditions banned her from the area is over the moon.about it... and with luck hopes to be allowed next time along with her comrades, also banned over the concrete blocks last time.

Today your behaviour was first class music great a credit to all I did notice one or two coppers humming to the music and tapping their feet, getting groovy.
