Remote install spy software programs are an excellent choice if you want to monitor a user from any place in the world and also be able to do it in real time.

You will literally see anything they do on their pc and nothing will be hidden from you.

If you suspect your spouse of being unfaithful, then you can install spy software to see what they are doing and who they are contacting. You’ll be amazed at what details you can find!

Use a remote spy monitor to monitor your children and see what they are up to.

Monitor employees. It’s best to inform them about your intentions, but you will also have to discuss it with them since privacy issues also come into play here.

Remote Install Spy Software - Legal questions

Is the software legal?

To install the software, you must own the pc, otherwise it’s illegal, unless you have permission from the owner of the computer.

If you are a government institution like a school, then you will be allowed to install the software on all your computers, but it is preferable that you let everyone know that they are being monitored.

Remote spy monitor software is very powerful and should not be abused.

Remote spy monitor software - Real Time Spy

This software will allow you to monitor computer usage in real time and see everything they do in total secrecy. If you are interested to see how it works you can try out the free demo.

Can be used to monitor IM chats, email, internet usage and a whole lot more.

The software defeats most anti spyware programs and runs in total stealth.

It’s not necessary to install the software on your computer and all you have to do is to make a small executable file which you then email to the other pc. The only snag is that the other user will have to download and install the file, otherwise you will not be able to do any monitoring.

View logs at any time whether the other user is online or not.

There’s many legal uses for remote install spy software but it’s best that you do some legal research before attempting to monitor someone else.

By: Vincent Z.

I have 3 computers connected over LAN, sharing a single router. Sometimes I find it toublesome to adjust some settings on the other computers when I'm on one computer. Just because I'm the administrative overlord on my home network doesn't mean that I have to be subjected to frequent and needless "errands". Fortunately, I figured out that all I need is just a VNC software. After having tested several free VNC softwares, I can only conclude that only TightVNC provides the best without using too much memory.

In short, TightVNC is a remote control software.

Notable Features

Unbelievably low memory consumption
For a VNC client, it takes up only 5mb in memory(for controller) and 10mb (for controlled) when running. Coupled with a fast LAN connection, there is virtually no lag when controlling the computer at anytime.

Cross-Platform support
If you happen to have 4 computers each running different OSes (e.g. OSX, Linux, Windows), fear not, because TightVNC supports all the mentioned platforms.

File transfer client
Easy file transfer between computers over LAN without the use of a storage medium (e.g. thumbdrives). A huge plus for me since I do not have to run "errands" anymore.

Final Say
A very useful/valuable ultility indeed. It's more for the average network administrator than for the average home user. But for those who are curious, you can give it a shot. Have fun!

Got Windows Vista Home Premium or Ultimate? Also got a Windows Mobile? Then this is for you.

Again, I will post this as a tutorial-like... tutorial, with steps and what you'll need, as well as what the final result should be. But before I go into that, I will first detail whwat makes this possible.

On the 2nd of June, 2008, the Windows Sideshow team over at Microsoft released a program, a "developer preview", which lets users use the Windows Mobile 5 or 6 device, whether touchscreen or not, as a Sideshow device. That means that all Sideshow gadgets compatible with all other Sideshow devices. This includes Windows Mail, Outlook and Windows Media Player controls.

But much more recently, on July 7th the Windows Sideshow team launched a Microsoft Connection at Microsoft Connect, which when joined allowed users to download their WIndows Media Center remote control gadgets, especially for the Windows Sideshow system. It allows you to view your TV, your music, your videos and pictures as well as control the Media Center. It even displays the album art of the music file you are viewing. That is the technology that makes it possible to do what we are doing today.

To use your Windows Mobile device as a remote control, you need a computer with Windows Media Center and Bluetooth (or Bluetooth dongle), and a WIndows Mobile device.

Download Windows Sideshow for Windows Mobile here.

Install it. The instructions for installing the program can be found below the download.

Setup a bluetooth partnership between your phone and computer (explained below).

Click start, then search "bluetooth devices" and open the program.

Click add...

Follow the wizard, turning on your bluetooth on the phone and making it discoverable.

Right-click the paired device on your computer (still in device manager)

Click properties.

Go to services tab.

Check "Windows Sideshow"

Click Apply, then OK.

Watch as the drivers get installed.

Open Windows Sideshow and click Connect. Then choose a user.

You have successfully configured Windows Sideshow on your computer and mobile device. Now to get the Media Center plugins working.

Join the Microsoft Connect connection with your Windows Live ID here.

After successfully joining, download the executable here.

Download the Windows Sideshow Managed Runtime 1.0 here.

Install it.

Install the "executable" from step 2 now.

Click start, then control panel.

Search "sideshow"

Click "Windows Sideshow", you should see your already-configured device here. If it isn't connected, connect it.

There should now be 4 new programs: Music, Now Playing, TV and Pictures+Videos. Click all of these checkboxes to enable them.

Now you can control Windows Media Center with your Windows Mobile device! Very convenient.

I have discovered a whole new way to annoy Judy... And its all thanks to technology.

I have an iPod Touch that now allows me to add applications to it. Applications such as Apples Remote for iTunes. This combined with my 6 year old laptop (well actually we just celebrated its 7th birthday) opens all sorts of possible ways to annoy.

My Favorite: waiting in the car for my lovely wife, open up Remote, select Jack Johnson's "Sitting, Waiting, Wishing" and repeatedly click it to 26 seconds where we hear the line "Must I always be waiting, waiting on you?" (And she couldn't understand why I was so excited about getting this application.)

The first time this made her laugh so hard that she had to run to the bathroom before peeing her pants. Each consecutive time

resulted in getting a sterner version of the "look" that most men are all too familiar with.

Like I said extensively in my last post, the App store is filled with a bunch of junk apps. I have found a few great apps, that I use.

Here's the lineup:

Twitterific - Great twitter client, it is as good if not better than the Mac OS X version and is a must have if you are a Twitter user. On that same not you should also check out Twinkle from Tapulous. I personally don't like it nearly as well as Twitterific but it has an opposite but equally viable approach to deliver your tweets. Titterific is either free (with ads) or $9.99 without ads and with an extra theme and it's from The Icon Factory.

Remote - Apple's remote app that allows you to control iTunes on your computer or Apple TV from your iPhone or iPod Touch from across the room using your wifi network in your home. Works just like it should perfectly. Remote is available for free.

Day Forty.
First of all, again Thank You for your comments on my last post. I feel like Densha Otoko

Day Forty.

First of all, again Thank You for your comments on my last post. I feel like Densha Otoko right now, getting encouragement from people online. I may never see any of you in person but I'm really thankful for everything you said. I may not deserve it, but you still took the time to write those encouraging words. Sorry, here I go again with the thank you's. But I really mean it. Thank you! I have made a decision long ago and I promised myself that I would not change my mind no matter what. But I will try to live happier from now on.

You know what? I even slept at night for the first time in months. Well, I ended up sleeping for almost 24 hours though. So I when I woke up, it's dark again. But at least, I was able to sleep at night, right?

Anyway, I watched a movie the other day. I'm flat broke yet I still watched a movie! I couldn't help it! If this goes on I'd probably end up eating bread ends for a month. Oh well, as you've probably guessed from the tags and the title of this post, this post will be mostly about the latest superhero movie: "The Dark Knight". But I'll talk about that a little later.

Drama department first! My internet connection's pretty bad so I still haven't finished Trick 3. I'm on the last episode but I just couldn't finish it because I keep getting disconnected. It's a pity since Narimiya Hiroki is in this episode. It's weird, he was also in a couple of episodes of Kindaichi 3! In Kindaichi, he's the girlish son of a rich butterfly collector now he's timid male Cinderella. He works all day and gets beaten up by his foster parents. He's an amazingly versatile actor! Some people didn't even recognize him in Trick 3! Come to think of it, if "The Dark Knight" have Japanese actors, Hiroki could probably pull-off the role of Joker. He had a similar role in "Kou Kou Kyoushi 2003" and he was pretty darn psychotic and scary there!

Anyway, back to dramas, I managed to watch the first episodes of Shibatora, Code Blue and Maou. First off, is Shibatora. Shibatora is a comedy detective drama about a rookie cop who looks like a middle-schooler but has a supernatural ability to see every minute detail in a crime scene. Apparently, he could see what's going to happen in advance and he could even see the hands of the Shinigami (Reaper) when a person is about to die. Koike Teppei really does look like a kid in this drama. I would honestly think that he's a middle-schooler if I didn't know who he is. That just means he's perfect for the role! All in all, this drama seems pretty fun and interesting but I'm still not that impressed. There some terrible and exagerrated acting from some of the minor characters and it seems to have a lot of unnecessary scenes. But I'm still looking forward to seeing the next episodes. Besides, Fujiki Naohito (One Litre of Tears and Kou Kou Kyoushi 2003) looks hot in this drama! I'm used to seeing him play gentle characters but there's nothing gentle about his character here! I'm glad he finally ditched the professional-looking suits and neat black hair! Ohgo Suzuka (Sexy Voice and Robo and Memoirs of a Geisha) is here by the way and she looks all grown-up! She's quite different here from her character in "Sexy Voice and Robo" but her performance is still pretty solid. She's prettier when she was younger though.

As for Maou, I'm still not sure about this drama. A lot of people apparently loves it and are raving about Ohno's scary performance as the Devil Lawyer. I'm still not impressed. I watched this weeks ago and I didn't quite like his character. I just think there's something wrong with his portrayal. His character was supposed to be an angelic lawyer on the outside but the devil on the inside. Well, he did look like the devil when he glares and grins and he's pretty creepy. But I just couldn't see the angelic side. He's supposed to be like Harvey Dent, a charismatic White Knight. He helps people and everyone loves him. But whenever I look at him, even when he's supposed to be on his "angelic mode", he still looks creepy. When I look at his face I just couldn't see the good guy he's supposed to look like. He still lacks versatility and cannot switch from good to bad as easily as...maybe Aaron Eckhart? (Sorry, Dark Knight fan-girl mode) Also, when he's on his "Devil-mode" he looks scary but in an annoying way and not in the spine-tingling kind of way. If he's supposed to be the Devil then he should have eyes that looks like their looking into your soul. His eyes looked quite blank to me. If you're a good actor, you don't have to glare all the time to look scary, you have to have an ominous presence. It's like there's a dark cloud above your head that brings gloom to the room when you enter...like Sousuke of Last Friends. No matter how I look at him, I really can't see what other sees in Ohno's character. I guess, you could say I'm too meticulous but this is just my opinion. As for Ikuta Toma, he's the reason I watched this drama but I'm sorry to say, he's even worse than Ohno. I know his character is supposed to be rash and hot-headed but he's performance is just way over the top! As for the plot, I find it to be quite typical and ordinary. Revenge is a common theme in Mystery dramas and if you're going to use that theme again then you better have added surprises to make the drama more interesting. Sad to say, I just couldn't find anything in this drama that would keep me hooked but I will still watch the next episodes. It's way too early to say if this is worth watching or not. As for Ohno, I hope he'd take a few pages from Heath Ledger's book. If you want to deserve the name: "The Devil", you can't just pretend to be one, you have to be one!

Yamapi's new drama, Code Blue or should I say, Japan's Grey's Anatomy, although quite unoriginal is still pretty interesting to watch. This is actually my first Japanese medical drama. I've seen ER, House, Grey's Anatomy and Scrubs but I never watched Japanese medical dramas. I'm not sure why though. Anyway, I'm watching this because of Yamapi. Not because I'm a Yamapi fan-girl but because all of his past dramas were really good.

Anyway, my first impression of Code Blue turned out to be right. It IS a lot like Grey's Anatomy. It's about four young surgical Interns who are just about to enter the cut-throat world of being a Flight Doctor. Well, this is a bit challenging though since they're Flight Doctor trainees. They must perform complicated surgeries outside the hospital, whether it's in an ambulance or inside a hot factory, they must be prepared to operate on patients on the spot. But still, the whole concept of this drama is pretty much the same as Grey's Anatomy's: each intern learns new things per episode while dealing with their own personal issues. They're interactions with the various types of patients also affects how their characters evolves throughout the series. Each character even have their Grey's Anatomy counterparts. Hiyama Mihoko, played by Toda Erika (Death Note and Liar Game) was a pretty but not so competent doctor just like Isobel Stevens of Grey's Anatomy. The comment she first got from her superior was that she has a lovely smile but that won't work here. They see her as a pretty face without the brains to go with it and so she was given mundane tasks like contacting the patient's family instead of actually participating in surgeries. Just like Izzie, she's very compassionate towards the patients and lets her emotions motivate her to do her best. Fuikawa Kazuo, played by Asari Yosuke (ROOKIES) is the clumsy goofball in the group. He's exactly like George O'Malley. He has a kind and pleasant face and a friendly and cheerful nature. His kind face and carefree attitude makes the patients immediately feel at ease when they are with him. Just like George in the beginning of Grey's Anatomy, Kazuo's not a very gifted surgeon and screws-up most of the time so he have the rest of drama to prove himself worthy of becoming a real doctor. Shiraishi Megumi, played by Aragaki Yui (My Boss My Hero and Papa to Musume no Nanokakan), is the resident Meredith Gray. Just like Meredith, Megumi's parents are famous doctors so she is pressured to be just as great as them. She's smart and brilliant but she's quite unsure of herself which causes her to panic sometimes. She wants to live-up to her parents' names so bad that she ends up doubting her own capabilities. Yamashita Tomohisa's character, Aizawa Kousaku, is somewhat like Christina Yang. He's cold, confident and extremely competitive. He's a brilliant doctor and he knows it! And he's out to prove that he's better than everyone else. Just like Christina, he doesn't seem to feel any emotions towards the patients either. When he was asked what he felt when he amputated the arm of a 19 year-old boy in a factory, he said, "I felt hot. It was hot in there." He also didn't hesitate to cut-off that boy's arm and he didn't sugar-coat his words either. He just coldly said to the boy: "I'm going to amputate your arm otherwise your heart would stop beating". Then he cut it off, just like that. The other three would have hesitated since the boy is still quite young and losing his arm at such a young age would affect the rest of his life. Kousaku, on the other hand, was not afraid to make the decision everyone else is afraid to make. (Wait! That sounds like a line from Dark Knight! Waaah! Here I go again!) Aside from being like Christina he's also a bit like McDreamy (Dr. Shepard) because the female patients think he's hot. A teenage girl even said that she wouldn't want Aizawa-san to see her chest because it's too embarrassing. She said "He's too cool!"

Well, this series seems like a rip-off but it's okay. It has its own unique qualities and the performances were pretty solid. Plus doing surgery outside the hospital is way cooler. And I did like Grey's Anatomy before! (before the interns started sleeping with each other. Geez! George slept with all the girls except for Christina!) Anyway, Code Blue is quite an intense and interesting drama. It may not fit into my Detective drama marathon but I'm still gonna keep watching it.

Okay, on to the main course: "The Dark Knight"! Everyone's raving about how magnificent it is and how brilliant Heath Ledger's performance was! And I couldn't agree more!

But it made me think of what I said in my previous post. About how the death of one person affects the people around him. When I heard about Heath Ledger's death before, I felt quite sad but it didn't bother me or anything. He's a great actor and I was a fan of his. I did see ALL of his movies. But just like every other ordinary fan, his death did not change anything in my life. But after seeing this movie, I suddenly felt really sad. This man, who's young, talented and had so much potential died just when he was about to show the world his greatest masterpiece yet. Some people said he killed himself, others said it was an accident but, honestly, it doesn't matter. A star who's light is just beginning to shine brightly suddenly disappeared... and not many people felt bothered by it...until now. When I left the theater, I heard people saying: "Oh my God! He's so good! It's too bad he's gone in real life!" or "So who will play Joker in the next film then? It'll be hard to fill his shoes." Heath Ledger's Joker is like Johnny Depp's Jack Sparrow or Matsuyama Ken'ichi's L: unforgettable and irreplaceable. He immortalized the role and portrayed it in a way that we never thought possible. The Joker was just a grinning clown before, but now he's so much more. Heath Ledger's fearless and gritty performance introduced us to a character like we've never seen before. The Joker's an unpredictable, manipulative, extremely intelligent but somewhat hilarious psychopath with no past or future. His sole purpose for living is to spread chaos and to upset the balance. Most villains have motives like greed, revenge, anger, but the Joker has none. That makes him the most complex and incomprehensible villain who ever graced the silver screen. And it is this madman that made us remember, the actor behind the cracked white make-up and the scary blood-red grin.

It is because of his final and unbelievable performance that people started caring about Heath Ledger's death. People started regretting his death. They started thinking that his death is a great blow to the entertainment industry. That it's not fair for him to die so young. I know, because I'm one of them. But you know what? He's quite lucky for being able to finish this movie before he died. He left the world something to remember him by. Something that his loved ones could be proud of. He'll be known by generations to come as the guy who trampled Jack Nicholson's Joker. And as one of the greatest, scariest and creepiest-looking villain ever! People are even talking of a posthumous Oscar for him. And he deserves it. Remember Harvey Dent's words: "It's either you die as a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become a villain." A life of a celebrity is like the life of a superhero. One day you're worshiped and adored, the next day you could be a drunken mess crucified by the public. It's a very unpredictable world. You could be successful now but you never know when you'll become the bad guy to the publics eyes. Right now, Heath Ledger is seen as a white knight. Everyone's looking-up to him and praising him because of his performance in the Dark Knight. He died young but he died as a hero in everyone's eyes. He didn't live long enough to see himself become the villain of his own story. And for that, he's very fortunate.

Anyway, back to the movie. "The Dark Knight" is without a doubt the most brilliant and most intelligent superhero movie ever made. Some people even say that it should be under the "crime saga" genre because of its very realistic approach in analyzing crime. But I couldn't help but notice the similarities of Joker's little social experiments to the Japanese movie: "Battle Royale". Battle Royale is a survival game with one main rule: "Kill or be Killed". A group of students are trapped in an island and are ordered to kill all of their classmates. There must only be one survivor or else the facilitators of the game will blow-up everyone in the island after three days. Kinda reminiscent to Joker's little game with the ferries right? (Blow-up the other boat otherwise I'll blow-up all of you in an hour.) The Battle Royale theme was used again when it comes to Bruce Wayne's lawyer. At the time when he was about to reveal the identity of Batman, the Joker called and said that he would blow-up a hospital if they don't kill that man in...was it 6 minutes? Everyone tried to kill that lawyer to save the lives of the people in the hospitals. Those people who tried to shoot him are not criminals but it's a survival game! Kill a stranger or watch your loved ones be killed. Wait, I think it's more similar to that episode in the Japanese drama, "Remote". In one episode a mysterious bomber, who goes by the name: "Regret", held an entire school hostage and the students trapped inside the building. He told the students through the speakers all over school (just like in the Dark Knight in the ferries) that if they want to survive, they have to kill one of their schoolmates, a boy named Sawamura Keisuke (played by Eita). If they don't kill Keisuke in one hour, "Regret" would blow-up the entire school. Eventhough the students are not bad people, most of them hunted down Keisuke and tried to kill him. Although some of them just sat down and cried, most of them were willing take a life to survive. It shows an ugly side of human beings but it's true, no matter how hard we try to deny it. Most people want to live so bad and they would do anything to survive even if that means they have to sacrifice others. I know that "The Dark Knight" is trying to show us that good can triumph over evil but if Joker's little experiment happened in real life, one of those boats would have been blown-up. Everyone has a dark side, and desperation could bring out the worse from the best us. If Harvey Dent, who's the image of goodness, was able to kill for revenge, then why didn't those people blow-up the other boat to protect their loved ones? The message they were trying to send in "The Dark Knight" is quite idealistic but sad to say, it's not what reality is like. When a building gets caught on fire, why is it that the weak always get left behind? Because no one is willing to sacrifice themselves to save a stranger's life. When there is bomb in the building, why is it that some people die or get seriously wounded because they got stepped-on by the panic-stricken crowd? Because no one cares if they trample other people, all they care about is their own survival. It's true that there a few brave men and women out there who are willing to give their lives to save others. But they are the few who dares to defy human nature. Because it is in our nature to survive no matter what it takes.

Another part of the Dark Knight, that reminded me of the drama "Remote" is the part where the clowns are the hostages while the Doctors are the killers. It was a lot like the first few episodes of Remote regarding the "Clown murders". A guy dressed-up as a clown was killing people. Then the cop, Kurumi found the clown in some sort of abandoned house. She ran after the clown but found him dead on the street. An innocent looking man was standing next to him. He said that the clown suddenly crossed the street so he accidentally hit him with his car. All the evidence is saying that the killer clown is dead. But it turned out that the dead clown was actually a victim and the innocent-looking guy was actually the culprit. I know it's not exactly the same but I had a flashback of that episode when I saw that scene in the Dark Knight. Oh and the part when that lawyer showed-up on TV to reveal Batman's identity was a lot like that scene in Death Note 2 where a guy showed up on TV to reveal the identity of Kira. Also, (***WARNING: major spoiler***) when they faked Gordon's death, it was exactly like that scene in the drama "Unfair" when they faked Ando's death! LOL! Sorry, I have a habit of remembering similar scenes when I watch a movie. It's a curse, really.

But don't mind me. It's just me making silly comparisons. The Dark Knight is an awesome movie! It's smart, action-packed and is definitely not your everyday, average superhero movie! Plus, everyone in the cast did a spectacular job! I'm not gonna go into a detailed review since there are tons of that already in the internet. But seriously, if it weren't for the guy in a bat-suit, I'd forget this is a superhero movie. It just exceeded the level of superhero movies. It's that good! So if you haven't seen it, well stop reading this and go to the theater now! Oh by the way, in case you missed this... Do you think this line is a hint to who the villain of the next installment would be?

BRUCE: So, how does this (suit) hold against dogs?

LUCIUS: I don't know. Is it a pitbull or a chiquaqua? It should do really well with CATS.

Hmmm, cat's huh? I wonder who they'll cast as the next seductive feline villain. Michelle Pfeiffer's a tough act to follow. But so was Jack Nicholson yet Heath Ledger trampled him to the ground. So I'm sure they'll find someone who's up for the challenge.

By the way, Favorite Joker scene: When he said "Hi!" to Harvey Dent while wearing that white and pink nurse's uniform. He was just so adorable in that scene! LOL!

End of Day Forty.

We here at Hot Lard like to think we have a heart. A big fat sloppy heart that we like to share with

We here at Hot Lard like to think we have a heart. A big fat sloppy heart that we like to share with others. I believe we shine brightest when we work with others on their relationships and how to keep them going. But unfortunately there are times when a relationship does fall apart no matter how hard you try. But after some time the bitter feelings you have for one another starts to fade and the love you felt starts to resurface. But most males find it hard to set down and write their feelings out to share with their woman.

So we here at Hot Lard have searched the Internet and found what we beloved to be the best, "Makeup Letter" ever written and would like to share it with you. If we can help just one broken hearted couple mend their relationship, then the whole 30 second we spent on Google looking for this was worth it.

Good luck,

The best makeup letter ever written:

Dear Connie,

I know the counselor said we shouldn't contact each other during our
"cooling off" period, but I couldn't wait anymore. The day you left, I
swore I'd never talk to you again. But that was just the wounded
little boy in me talking. Still, I never wanted to be the first one to
make contact.

In my fantasies, it was always you who would come crawling back to me.
I guess my pride needed that. But now I see that my pride's cost me a
lot of things. I'm tired of pretending I don't miss you. I don't care
about looking bad anymore. I don't care who makes the first move as
long as one of us does.

Maybe it's time we let our hearts speak as loudly as our hurt. And
this is what my heart says: "There's no one like you, Connie." I look
for you in the eyes and breasts of every woman I see, but they're not
you. They're not even close. Two weeks ago, I met this girl at
Flamingos and brought her home with me. I don't say this to hurt you,
but just to illustrate the depth of my desperation. She was young,
maybe 19; with one of those perfect bodies that only youth and maybe a
childhood spent ice skating can give you. I mean, just a perfect body.
Tits like you wouldn't believe and an ass that just wouldn't quit.
Every man's dream, right? But as I sat on the couch being blown by
this stunner, I thought, look at the stuff we've made important in our
lives. It's all so superficial.

What does a perfect body mean? Does it make her better in bed? Well,
in this case, yes, but you see what I'm getting at. Does it make her a
better person? Does she have a better heart than my moderately
attractive Connie?

I doubt it. And I'd never really thought of that before.

I don't know, maybe I'm just growing up a little. Later, after I'd
tossed her about a half a pint of throat yogurt, I found myself
thinking, "Why do I feel so drained and empty?" It wasn't just her
flawless technique or her slutty, shameless hunger, but something
else.

Some nagging feeling of loss. Why did it feel so incomplete? And then
it hit me. It didn't feel the same because you weren't there to watch.
Do you know what I mean?

Nothing feels the same without you. Connie, I'm just going crazy
without you. And everything I do just reminds me of you. Do you
remember Carol, that single mom we met at the Holiday Inn lounge last
year? Well, she dropped by last week with a pan of lasagna. She said
she figured I wasn't eating right without a woman around. I didn't
know what she meant till later, but that's not the real story.

Anyway, we had a few glasses of wine and the next thing you know,
we're banging away in our old bedroom. And this tart's a total monster
inthe sack. She's giving me everything, you know, like a real woman
does when she's not hung up about her weight or her career and whether
the kids can hear us. And all of a sudden, she spots that tilting
mirror on your grandmother's old vanity. So she puts it on the floor
and we straddle it, right, so we can watch ourselves. And it's totally
hot, but it makes me sad, too. Cause I can't help thinking, "Why
didn't Connie ever put the mirror on the floor? We've had this old
vanity for what, 14 years, and we never used it as a sex toy."

Saturday, your sister drops by with my copy of the restraining order.
I mean, Vicky's just a kid and all, but she's got a pretty good head
on her shoulders and she's been a real friend to me during this
painful time. She's given me lots of good advice about you and about
women in general. She's pulling for us to get back together, Connie,
she really is.

So we're doing Jell-O shots in a hot bubble bath and talking about
happier times. Here's this teenage girl with the same DNA as you and
all I can do is think of how much she looked like you when you were
18. And that just about makes me cry. And then it turns out Vicky's
really into the whole anal thing, That gets me to thinking about how
many times I pressured you about trying it and how that probably
fueled some of the bitterness between us. But do you see how even
then, when I'm thrusting inside your baby sister's cinnamon ring, all
I can do is think of you?

It's true, Connie. In your heart you must know it. Don't you think we
could start over? Just wipe out all the grievances away and start
fresh? I think we can.

If you feel the same please, please, please let me know. Otherwise,
can you let me know where the fucking remote is?

Love,

We wasted spent about an hour on Friday making sure the term "Wiimote" was waxed from the NCS shopping experience. We'll endeavor to search and replace instances of the word "Wiimote" on our other websites by the end of the month. We wouldn't want the "Weemote™" trademark holder to be supposedly damaged by our conjunction of the words "Wii" and "Remote." We're thinking of coining a new word - "Wii-rote" or maybe just "Wote." As in, "Wave your Wote in the air. Wave it like ya just don't care."

Quick, someone trademark that.

So, if you're a vendor who's foolish enough to use the word "Wiimote" in your literature and product descriptions, watch it. You're liable to get a letter from a law firm. Can the word "Wiimote" be banned from every shopping site on the internet? Maybe. Maybe not. In any case, the word "Wiimote" will be stricken from this posting in approximately 24 hours lest we receive another letter. Y'know, a letter from a law firm.

As I type this I lay in my bed a good 15 feet away from my giant computer. It's more like a multi media center. I have a wireless keyboard, a wireless mouse, and a remote that can handle all my media desires.

I have been here for 18 straight hours.

I have not moved out of my bed for 18 straight hours. I have moved around IN my bed, yet have not actually left it.

I have my mini-fridge as my nightstand.

Fat Kid.

I was going to play some Nintendo Wii. But decided to watch videos of people playing it instead.

I often wonder what it would be like to have magical powers. For instance what if I was Harry Potter. Just 15 minutes ago I got my workout in by pretending my wireless media remote was my wand.

I pointed it at my penis and commanded “levicorpus.”

I laughed for a good 7 minutes as I did this. Then I realized that I was the only one in the room and I was truly entertaining my self. That’s how lazy I have gotten. I don’t even have the motivation or energy to work up a good erection.

So lazy I can’t move 4 feet to turn on my entertainment console PS3, and just sit in another location for hours and move nothing buy my digits.

But, I digress. Harry Potter and my penis. So after I came to the conclusion that my Macintosh wireless media remote wont simply give me an erection because I yell “Levicorpus,” and press the volume up button at it, I realized something.

The volume on my iTunes was increasing as the sweet nectar sounds of Elton John’s Tiny Dancer blared. Yes, sometimes I do listen to Elton John by myself while trying to command an erection with my white Macintosh wireless media remote. Judge away.

As the song reached a crescendo I concluded I don’t need to be Harry Potter because technology was the contemporary definition of magic. If I could do what I am currently doing 100 years ago I would be a shaman of epic proportions.

I got to thinking. In ten years what other kind of magic would I be able to do? I started to make a mental note of the possibilities.

But then I got tired and went to sleep.

The day the iPhone 2.0 firmware upgrade came out, I spent most of the afternoon trying to connect to the overloaded servers to upgrade my phone. While I waited, I perused the App Store for apps, downloading the ones I wanted to try so that they would be ready to sync right away. I've trying out a few different apps that everyone seems to get like Remote, and I have a few others that I havenbeen 't really used yet, but thought I might want. But there are four (free [except for Vay]) apps that make me love my iPhone all over again: Twitterrific, Pandora, Aurora Feint, and Vay.

Twitterrific is a twitter client for the iPhone. I had used the Twitter web app before, and it got the job done. Twitterrific not only gets the job done, but it looks good, is well-implemented, and adds lots of new options for mobile tweets, including automatically adding photos from the camera to twitpic when you select a photo for a tweet. If you have an iPhone 3G, you can even geotag your tweets.

Pandora has been a popular internet radio service for a while, where you create stations from songs and artists that you like. Pandora plays music similar to & including what you listed. With this service on the iPhone, you basically have an infinite number of songs available for your listening pleasure.

Vay is the first RPG to show up on the iPhone. It was originally released for Sega CD in 1994 so it is a great way to get your 90's Japanese RPG fix in wherever you are. It's the first app I've actually paid for ($4.99) after Ben posted a tweet about it. The controls work well and the battle graphics have been slightly ramped up. Plus, thanks to my penchant for compulsively leveling up, I should be able to get nearly infinite game play out of this.

[Edit] To clarify: this game is really fun and addicting. If you like RPGs I recommend Vay.

Finally, Aurora Feint (The Beginning), is an addictive puzzle game that makes great use of the accelerometer for changing the puzzles' orientation to gravity. You can level up to gain new abilities and make it easier to gather resources. Given that this app was made in a pretty short period of time, I expect that subesquent chapters of this iPhone only MMO will be something to watch out for.

If you have an iPhone and haven't downloaded Remote, stop what you are in the middle of and do it now.

When I first read of the iPhone as a remote, I imagined a limited but functional remote control which would allow stopping/playing and skipping to previous or next song.

Remote goes a few steps further by allowing you to view playlists and control the volume. When a song is playing, it shows you the album art and the controls you need to go to any point in the song.

The only setup required involves having iTunes open and giving you a special code that you will need to type into iTunes to make the link to the iPhone. After that, you are ready to remotely control iTunes with your iPhone or iPod Touch.

The app requires Wi-Fi, and can control any iTunes-loaded computer on the network. It works great with a Mac, and I just confirmed that it also works on a Windows PC. It's available for free in the App Store.

Windows 2000 (with the Resource Kit installed) and Windows XP (natively) have an actual shutdown com

Windows 2000 (with the Resource Kit installed) and Windows XP (natively) have an actual shutdown command that can be launched from a command prompt — and which, therefore, also can be launched from a shortcut. To see all available options for this command, click Start, click Run, type CMD, and click OK. Then, in the box that appears, type:

SHUTDOWN /?

You can also study the available options in the Microsoft KB 317371, “How to Use the Remote Shutdown Tool to Shut Down and Restart a Computer in Windows 2000.” (The article is basically suitable for Win XP also.)

This command starts a 30-second countdown for a shutdown or restart, which permits you to abort it (with a shutdown -a command). It you want the command to execute, use the -t flag, which lets you set the time lapse in seconds. The examples below use a 1-second delay.

For a shortcut to RESTART Windows XP:
SHUTDOWN -r -t 01

For a shortcut to SHUT DOWN Windows XP:
SHUTDOWN -s -t 01

Unfortunately — especially on Windows XP — this option only shuts down Windows. It does not shut down your computer, at least on most hardware. For that, on Win XP (and for most Win 2000 users also), I recommend the freeware utility Shutdown.exe (not to be confused with the Windows utility by the same name) by MS-MVP Andrej Budja. I’ve seen several shutdown utilities recommended, but this is the only one that I’ve seen actually shut down Windows XP and then powerdown the computer behind it. For more information on the tool, see here. After you place this utility in the root folder of C:, the commands for a shutdown, restart, or hibernate (respectively), each without a time delay, would be shutdown -u -t 0 for shutdown, shutdown -r -t 0 for restart, and shutdown -h -t 0 for hibernate.

Using the TSShutDn Utility

If you don’t want to use a third-party utility, you may be able to get by with a lesser known utility in Windows 2000 and Windows XP. The native commandline tool tsshutdn.exe was originally designed for shutting down servers, not work stations. It was introduced in Windows 2000, and retained in Windows XP. See MSKB 320188, “How to Use the TSSHUTDN Command to Shut Down a Terminal Server in Windows 2000 Terminal Services,” and MSKB 243202, “Windows 2000 Terminal Services Session Management Tools.” From a command prompt, type tsshutdn /? for a list of its subcommands and syntax. A command line of C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\TSSHUTDN.EXE 0 /DELAY:0 /POWERDOWN will powerdown most Windows 2000 and Windows XP computers, though some (according to correspondent “perris,” who first turned me onto this native utility) will get an error message 1702

I followed instructions from the Oracle documentation to connect to our remote server with a public

I followed instructions from the Oracle documentation to connect to our remote server with a public IP address from home and check that everything was running ok. It is easy when you know how, as usual!

First off, make sure you have enough swap space (over 1GB) to install the Oracle Express Client. I didn't have enough so had to use a livecd and a third party partition manager to resize my swap partition to a reasonable size.

Next up I downloaded the Oracle Express Client from Oracle themselves (click here to download it) and installed it using the ubuntu package manager. Easiest way, double click on it, click install!

Now the oracle client is installed you have SQL*Plus, a command line interface to your remote and local databases. It isn't great to use, no command completion, no remembering previous commands but it is the quickest way to get a SQL command line interface.

Open up SQL*Plus (in the main menu > Oracle Client 10g Express Edition > Run SQL Command Line) and now you have a SQL> prompt. This is where you enter "connect" and your connection string and user details etc. For example, connecting as "sys":

connect sys/password@ip.ad.dre.ss/instancename as sysdba

The oracle default instance name (if you installed the example database) is "orcl". So if your password is "foobar" and your ip address is "192.168.1.1" then you need to type into the command prompt:

connect sys/foobar@192.168.1.1/orcl as sysdba

Of course you can change the login to whoever you want and if you look at the documentation you will find a better way to do this in future using a connection identifier. If you are successful then SQL*Plus will say "Connected." and you now have a connection, it's just like being there.

To test out your connection as "sys" try typing the following (thanks Viktor) into the terminal to list all the current schemas/users in the database:

select username from all_users;

You should get a list back and the number of rows selected (about 27 rows if you installed the example database). Now you know how to connect you can run any SQL commands (inc PL/SQL etc) you want plus all the SQL*Plus commands, which I am just beginning to get to grips with.
