Guitar Hero World Tour (initially referred to as Guitar Hero IV) is the latest addition in the music

Guitar Hero World Tour (initially referred to as Guitar Hero IV) is the latest addition in the music video gameGuitar Hero series, and is being developed by Neversoft and published by RedOctane and Activision. Guitar Hero World Tour will be expected to be available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, and Wii consoles on October 26, 2008.

It will have the same guitar controller with one different Guitar Hero World Tour will be the first game in Guitar Hero Franchise to feature drums and microphone for the percussion and vocal parts you know basically like Rock Band, in my part Guitar Hero World Tour will be better than Rock Band.

The game will allow users to create new songs, including drums, rhythm guitar, lead guitar and bass guitar, although the studio mode will not allow players to record vocals, officially due to copyright and storage limitations, among other undisclosed reasons also players will have the opportunity to upload and share their songs as well as download others' songs through a service known as GHTunes.

I think the one of the coolest part about this game are the drums, Im a drummer my self and I can not wait for this game to come out, but I let you see a video where they explain how the drums came alive in Guitar Hero World Tour

Players will be able to use "create a rocker" mode just like "create a skater" mode in Tony Hawk and they are going to be able to change the way they stand or balance, their clothing, tattoos, makeup and their age. Also players are going to be able to customize their guitars, drums and microphone.

So I’m kinda excited that my OXM subscription kicked in yesterday and I recevied my 1st issue.

So I'm kinda excited that my OXM subscription kicked in yesterday and I recevied my 1st issue. It's a pretty good deal to get the magazine along with the disc for $24.95 for the whole year as opposed to paying $9.99 an issue at the grocery store or bookstore.

I'm happy to see some offical pictures of all the new Rock Band 2, Guitar Hero World Tour, and Konami's Rock Revolution peripherals (well Konami only showed the drums kit, and it looked a little strange). The nice thing is that Konami stated that both RB and Gh's guitar will be compatible with their game. I'm getting pretty psyched that these will start launching next month, and I'll have a whole new bey of songs to play and download.

Ion is introducing there own uber drum kit for the Rock Band series which just looks crazy mad. By itself, it'll be $300, metal, and ships with 4 drum pads, 2 cymbals and kick peddle. For even another $50 you can buy yet a 3rd cymbal!

Harmonix's new Stratocaster looks pretty sweet, and they promise it will be much more sturdy than the original, meaning overdrive sensor and strum bar, plus it's wireless. A fine addition to my colllection. However, RedOctane's new axe for World Tour may be the one to get. Also wireless, it has an additional touch sensitive neck for hand sliding and an oversized 'star power' button (thank God!) so you won't have to tilt your guitar to achieve star power.

I played RB last night for a bit and tried multiplayer online play. I experimented with both 'Tug of War' and 'Score Duel' modes and had my as handed to me all four times, but it was fun. I have to get out of the competitve mindset and just enjoy it playing a song with someone else. The problem for me is that Tug of War is very unforgiving...miss one note and it's very difficult to recover against the other player. This resulted in a True Skill point value of '1' for me, even though on medium I was pulling perfect solos and completing like 97-98% of the song. Seems a bit harsh to ever recover and be motivated to continue playing...you find yourself praying the other guy misses one note as well just to give you a chance.

I may need to buy a new HD soon with all the songs coming down the pipeling. My 20GB drive is already 75% full lest I remove some other games and demo's.

On the horizon for me: Force Unleashed, Rise of the Argonauts, GH WT, RB 2, Too Human, Fracture, GoW2, Lego Batman, CoD 5, Clone Wars (Wii) and a few others. Man, I don't even have time now....or money.

Speaking of money....I was so planning on buying a new PC today. A new Dell XPS system to replace my 5year +, but then my wife told me yesterday she is behind on bills. Dammit. Well, there that goes for now. I was eyeing a 2.4 GHz system with 3GB memory, plenty of L2 cache, and a 20" widescreen monitor for my WoW and CoH habits. Looks like that's put on hold....yet again. ::Grumble::

Been getting back into my PSP again too...playing Metal Gear Solid Ac!D and enjoying it. My coworker was showing me his new God of War PSP slim and gameplay and it looks pretty sweet as well.

Wii: Okay, so my store didn't get the Wii Fit today, but I also have an alert from Amazon.com sent to my phone. If any Fit's become available, they send you a TXT message to whcih you simply reply 'Buy', and they send one to you based on your Amazon account. Well imagine my surprise when I got my alert today (WooHoo!!) at 10:17am saying they are available. I reply at 10:20am with my text. At 10:22am I receive a reply back saying they are now 'unavailble'!!! DOH!! WTF? So between the time I received the alert and I responded (3 minutes!) they were already sold out again. What....did they only get 2 in stock?

Ah well, there's always next week.

1960
Norman Greenbaum - Spirit in the Sky
The Who - Pinball Wizard

1970
AC/DC - Let There Be Rock
Allman Brothers - Ramblin' Man
Bad Company - Shooting Star
Blondie - One Way or Another
Bob Dylan - Tangled Up in Blue
Cheap Trick - Hello There
Elvis Costello - Pump It Up
Fleetwood Mac - Go Your Own Way
Jethro Tull - Aqualung
Journey - Anyway You Want It
Kansas - Carry On Wayward Son
Rush - The Trees
Squeeze - Cool for Cats
Steely Dan - Bodhitsattva
Steve Miller Band - Rock'n Me
Talking Heads - Psycho Killer
The Guess Who - American Woman

AC/DC - "Let there be rock". É claro que eu (como bom rockeiro que sou) conheço quase toda a trajetória do AC/DC, mas todo mundo estava esperando "Higway to hell", "Back in Black" ou "Shook me all night long". Ficamos a ver navios.

1980
Billy Idol - White Wedding Pt. I
Bon Jovi - Livin' on a Prayer
Devo - Uncontrollable Urge
Duran Duran - Hungry Like the Wolf
Jane's Addiction - Mountain Song
Joan Jett - Bad Reputation
Megadeth - Peace Sells
Metallica - Battery
Motorhead - Ace of Spades
Ratt - Round & Round
Sonic Youth - Teenage Riot
The Go-Go's - We Got the Beat
Survivor - Eye of the Tiger
The Grateful Dead - Alabama Getaway
The Replacements - Alex Chilton

1990
Alanis Morissette - You Oughta Know
Alice in Chains - Man in the Box
Beastie Boys - So Whatcha Want
Bikini Kill - Rebel Girl
Dinosaur Jr. - Feel the Pain
Foo Fighters - Everlong
Judas Priest - Painkiller
L7 - Pretend We're Dead
Lit - My Own Worst Enemy
Lush - De-Luxe
Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Where'd You Go
Nirvana - Drain You
Pearl Jam - Alive
Presidents of the USA - Lump
Rage Against the Machine - Testify
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Give it Away
Testament - Souls of Black
The Muffs - Kids in America
The Offspring - Come Out & Play (Keep ‘em Separated)
Soundgarden - Spoonman

Comentário: E o Grunge dominou em 1990! Junte os amigos e dê moshs do sofá enquanto grita: "Oh IIIIIIIII! Oh I still alive!" como se fosse o Eddie Vedder. L7, Nirvana e Alice in Chains detonam o set list dos anos 90.
Pra mim, o melhor setlist do jogo.

2000
AFI - Girl's Gone Grey
Avenged Sevenfold - Almost Easy
Beck - E-Pro
Disturbed - Down with the Sickness
Dream Theater - Panic Attack
Guns N' Roses - Shackler's Revenge
Interpol - PDA
Jimmy Eat World - The Middle
Lacuna Coil - Our Truth
Linkin Park - One Step Closer
Mastodon - Colony of Birchmen
Modest Mouse - Float On
Panic at the Disco - Nine in the Afternoon
Paramore - That's What You Get
Rise Against - Give it All
Silversun Pickups - Lazy Eye
System of a Down - Chop Suey
Tenacious D - Master Exploder
The Donnas - New Kid in School

Artistas bonus: década 2000
Abnormality - Visions
Anarchy Club - Get Clean
Bang Camaro - Night Lies
Breaking Wheel - Shoulder to the Plow
The Libyans - Neighborhood
The Main Drag - A Jagged Gorgeous Winter
Speck - Conventional Lover
The Sterns - Supreme Girl
That Handsome Devil - Rob the Prez-O-Dent

Faltaram boas bandas. Principalmente o New Metal do início dos anos 2000.
1. Anarchy Club mereceu figurar entre as bandas do game.
2. Onde está The Distillers?

Before Harmonix and MTV delivered the music juggernaut that we all know as Rock Band, I was frankly

Before Harmonix and MTV delivered the music juggernaut that we all know as Rock Band, I was frankly mystified by the success of Activision and RedOctane's Guitar Hero franchise - I played a little here and there, and while fun, it astounded me as to how fast the popularity of the game has grown. It is ironic then, that the first game to truly captivate me enough to finally go on and purchase a Nintendo DS is Activision and Vicarious Visions' offering of Guitar Hero : On Tour.

Countless other iterations of the franchise aside (see: GH Aerosmith), the thing that made On Tour stand out from the rest of its brethren is the inclusion of the Guitar Grip - a peripheral that plugs into the GB/GBA slot on the DS lite (also included is an adapter for those that have the original DS). Manufacturer RedOctane has successfully managed to capture the tactile feel of the game on a considerably smaller scale, and for that they should be applauded. Depending on whether you're left or right handed, one hand will be strapped to the Grip while the other is strumming along to the touch screen - preferably using the included guitar pick stylus. At first, it felt slightly jarring, and even uncomfortable, to play with the Grip; but once you get going and find a suitable position to play in, you'll see that the spirit of Guitar Hero has been kept pretty much intact.

Series veterans may be a bit miffed at the inclusion of only 4 buttons - compared to the 5 on the console releases - but believe me, you'll find plenty of challenge here. Whether it's trying to navigate your pinky to hit the blue notes fast enough or finding a comfortable position to play the game at long sets at a time, it takes some serious practice if want to hang with the big boys on Expert. I'm frankly frightened how those with much larger hands than mine will even manage to play the game...

While On Tour offers your standard fare of game modes - Quickplay, Career, Practice, Tutorial - the new mode, Guitar Duel, is served up a little bit different. In a tug-of-war style battle with either the computer or another player via Multi-Card Play, Guitar Duel is focused on causing the most havoc to your opponent as much as possible. This is done through the use of power-ups that can be obtained through "Battle Gems", which replace the usual Star Gem note sequences that are used to gain star power, with up to 3 that can be stored at a time. These power-ups range from the practical to the hilarious: cut guitar strings; t-shirt autographs; pyrotechnics that must be blown off through the DS microphone; and even a screen flip icon that can cause unwanted confusion during the heat of battle. Other multiplayer modes are the usual co-op and face-off options, but Guitar Duel is the one that'll keep you playing with your friends.

Now the dealbreaker for any GH game is the track list, and this is one of On Tour's greatest strengths and yet its most detracting weakness. Many may turn their nose at the inclusion of Smash Mouth, Daughtry, or Maroon 5, but rest assured, their is much more variety than what you may expect; further songs to be unlocked include Santana, Osbourne, and Twisted Sister. Personally I don't have any real dislike to the songs included, but as always, musical taste is largely subjective so it is up to you if the track list will be worth your while. The reason these songs are a weakness, however, is its disappointingly short number of songs that you'll find - 25 in all. While I don't have any significant insight to whether this was due to technical limitations or simply holding back for future releases on the DS, it is a rather questionable decision on the developers part to include such a short list.

If you're still wondering whether Guitar Hero: On Tour is right for you, then consider this: if you liked/loved the franchise before, then you'll have no problem embracing its portable cousin - now, you can rock out to Guitar Hero wherever and whenever you want. If you could care less about the series, then On Tour won't do much to dissuade you. However, if you are as interested as I was to see how the successful console franchise was translated to the Nintendo DS, don't hesitate to at least try it out - it certainly is remarkable how much of what makes GH successful is contained in this portable package.

Within the first few days of its official announcement, Guitar Hero: World Tour is besting Rock Band

Within the first few days of its official announcement, Guitar Hero: World Tour is besting Rock Band in every category, even the ones Rock Band originated. World Tour will not only feature a drum set, a microphone, and newly designed guitars, but it will also showcase 8 player "Battle of the Bands" online play. It will still, of course, have single player online mode a la Legends of Rock so you can still duke it out over then net when you're by yourself.

But the online gaming experience doesn't end there; World Tour will also have downloadable content which is one of the major flaws in Harmonix's cash in. Unlike the PS3 and 360 games, the Rock Band Wii port doesn't allow players to go online or download anything new. World Tour, however, is going to utilize this function quite thoroughly though there's no word as what songs we'll be able to down load at this point.

But to top this all off, you'll also be able to fully customize your in-game experience. You'll have the option to create your own characters, design their guitars, album covers, band logos, and write your own songs. Oh yes, artists can now bring themselves fame and fortune on Guitar Hero by writing their favorite songs and spreading them across the globe.

Activision is really bringing the heat to EA with this title. They're aiming for the top spot of the music gaming food chain and they're going for Harmonix's jugular. With new instruments, new downloadable content, new create your own song feature, and eight player online capabilities, World Tour is seriously going to give Rock Band a run for its money. One thing I'm wondering is if Guitar Hero 3's Wii guitar will be compatable with this game, I don't see why not.

"Additionally, the game will offer significantly more localized downloadable music than ever before on all of the next-generation consoles. Budding rock stars will also be given creative license to fully customize everything from their characters' appearance and instruments to their band's logo and album covers...

The game's innovative new Music Studio lets players express their musical creativity by giving them access to a full compliment of tools to create digital music from scratch, utilizing all of the instruments, and then play their compositions in the game. Music creators will also be able to share their recordings with their friends online through GHTunes(TM) where other gamers can download their unique compositions and play them..."

So Guitar Hero is no longer heroic in it’s guitar undertakings. You guessed it, Activision is

So Guitar Hero is no longer heroic in it's guitar undertakings. You guessed it, Activision is revamping it and will include drums and vocals. What's the matter RedOctane? Harmonix stealing your thunder?

Anyway, a load of Guitar Hero IV details are being reported in next month's Game Informer (you know, that terrible GameStop magazine.) First, as I said earlier, they are adding drums and vocals to the game. So you crooners can sound just like Bruce Dickinson, and you're buddy can be Nicko McBrain. Or you can just play Rock Band instead?

Another addition is song creation. The game allows for the player to create their own song, minus the vocals (copyright issues anyone?) and upload them online. You can even upload album art, and others can download them. The question that pops up in my mind is: How to weed out the crap? So we're not too sure on the QA. Rather than just blatantly copy Rock Band, Activision promises to surprise us.

"We've put a lot of additional development resources, a lot of additional music licenses resources, a lot of additional hardware supplier resources against the title to fuel growth over next year,"

"We're excited by the increased musical content and innovation we're bringing. We do expect a leap forward in innovation with our holiday launch, and we're about two weeks away from providing very specific details on that." ~~Mike Griffiths, Activision's publishing president.

Gee, I wonder what it is? Maybe, this version will come with groupies?

We can only hope.

Okay, so I'm really late on this one - I meant to post it over the Thanksgiving weekend, but obviously that didn't happen due to issues involving gluttony and tryptophan. What I'm talking about here is the long-rumored release of the Halo 3 theme for the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.

While some may gripe that it was first rumored to be a downloadable track for Guitar Hero II, the fact remains that it was never officially promised by Microsoft, Bungie or Activision, so it's not like GHII owners are missing out on something that they were told they'd be getting by anyone other than the internet water cooler.

While the news about the Halo 3 track is good, the second part of the announcement is even better... it's a free download. If you've got the 360 version of GHIII, you've got no excuse to head over to the Xbox Live Marketplace and add this one to your hard drive. Get to it!

It's just funny watching guys play on what looks essentially like a toddler's Fisher Price guitar.

There have been numerous complaints across the internet regarding the X-plorer guitar included with

There have been numerous complaints across the internet regarding the X-plorer guitar included with the Xbox 360 version of Guitar Hero II, and yesterday word began to circulate that RedOctane's customer service had notified someone that there were two (2) models of guitar that were in fact defective.

The reported problem with the guitars, aside from having the worst back button in the history of the franchise, is that the whammy bar is partially or totally unresponsive, the yellow fret button sticks, the "tilt" function for Star Power works, but only sporadically and that some form of issue with the strummer exists, be it that it's too loose, too tight, doesn't work, etc. (For those wondering about my comment regarding the back button, that's the button used to activate Star Power if you don't feel like tilting the guitar - and it's miniscule and recessed on the X-plorer)

According to Kotaku, one of their readers got the following response to his queries regarding some of the issues he was having with his controller;

"We have isolated this issue to two model numbers that can be found on the guitar's packaging. The numbers are 95065 and 95055. We are asking that customers who puchased their items from a retailer perform an exchange with that respective store (for a model number other than the defective two listed above). Customer's who purchased through our online story can complete an rma request for their defective item and we will exchange it for a fully function guitar controller. We do apologize for the inconvenience and will [resolve] these matters." - Quote from RedOctane customer support as per the Kotaku article

Since my guitar is a 95055 and it most certainly has lag issues with the whammy-bar, I started to look to see if there was any official word regarding that comment. In searching through RedOctane's site and the official Guitar Hero forums, I couldn't find anything other than links back to the Kotaku article or other sites that had picked up on that quote. There was no official comment from RedOctane to be found.

Here is what I did find in my search for answers;

It appears that there are only two models of guitar - the 95055 and 95065. The few sites that stated the box they had said "95067" advised that the guitar inside was labeled as a 95065.

I Called my local Gamestop (where I bought the game) and they advised they haven't heard anything about the issues with the guitars or any kind of a recall / return request.

Given the horror stories about some of the guitars and the fact that mine, while off, isn't badly off, I'm really inclined to hold onto it for a few more days until someone knows something concrete as I'd hate to bring it back and get one that's even worse. (Especially since the only guitars out there are apparently the problematic 95055 and 95065 models)

So, is RedOctane really asking people to return their guitars? I don't know. I know I'll be holding onto mine at least until next week in hopes that someone makes an official, on the record, statement about this whole mess.
