“So Sambo beat the bitch!”
This is how Republican Vice Preside

From http://www.laprogressive.com

“So Sambo beat the bitch!”

This is how Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin described Barack Obama’s win over Hillary Clinton to political colleagues in a restaurant a few days after Obama locked up the Democratic Party presidential nomination.

According to Lucille, the waitress serving her table at the time and who asked that her last name not be used, Gov. Palin was eating lunch with five or six people when the subject of the Democrat’s primary battle came up. The governor, seemingly not caring that people at nearby tables would likely hear her, uttered the slur and then laughed loudly as her meal mates joined in appreciatively.

“It was kind of disgusting,” Lucille, who is part Aboriginal, said in a phone interview after admitting that she is frightened of being discovered telling folks in the “lower 48” about life near the North Pole.

Then, almost with a sigh, she added, “But that’s just Alaska.”

Racial and ethnic slurs may be “just Alaska” and, clearly, they are common, everyday chatter for Palin.

Besides insulting Obama with a Step-N’-Fetch-It, “darkie musical” swipe, people who know her say she refers regularly to Alaska’s Aboriginal people as “Arctic Arabs” – how efficient, lumping two apparently undesirable groups into one ugly description – as well as the more colourful “mukluks” along with the totally unimaginative “f**king Eskimo’s,” according to a number of Alaskans and Wasillians interviewed for this article.

But being openly racist is only the tip of the Palin iceberg. According to Alaskans interviewed for this article, she is also vindictive and mean. We’re talking Rove mean and Nixon vindictive.

No wonder the vast sea of white, cheering faces at the Republican Convention went wild for Sarah: They adore the type, it’s in their genetic code. So much for McCain’s pledge of a “high road” campaign; Palin is incapable of being part of one.

The last couple of weeks I have written on my blog my support of Barack Obama. I know that most of the people at my mostly all white church would disagree with my political views. However, I would still like to ask:

Has animosity increased between both African-American and White Evangelical Christians now that a black candidate has been chosen to run for president?

Will Sunday continue to be a day of separation for both groups?

Do you feel that race has anything to do with election?

Do you think think white evangelicals will commit to praying for a black president as they did Bush?

Do you think Evangelicals owe it to the African-American community to put a black man in the white house?

What do you think about the racial-overtones in this race?

Three Jewish teenagers have been attacked by a group of Arabs in the French capital Paris on Saturda

Three Jewish teenagers have been attacked by a group of Arabs in the French capital Paris on Saturday evening, a French police spokeswoman has said.

The Jewish teens, ages 17 and 18, are leaders of the Bnei Akiva youth group in Paris' 19th District. Thierry Nebet, Dan's father, told the Israeli newspaper 'Ha'aretz' that according to what his son had said, as they were walking down the street, "Four or five Arabs of African origin started to throw walnuts at Kevin. When he went up to them to ask them why they did it, they surrounded him and knocked him down. Dan and David moved in and very quickly more Arabs joined in and started to beat the three with their fists and with chains."

The Jewish teens were hospitalized, one with a broken nose and jaw and all three with bruises, and filed a police report after their release. Police opened an investigation and are looking for the teenagers allegedly responsible for the attacks.

According to the head of the Jewish Students Union in France, Raphael Haddad, barrages of stones were thrown at the three teens during the attack. Haddad also said the incident had occurred on Petit Street in the 19th District, not far from where a 17-year-old Jewish youth was attacked and seriously injured by immigrants on June 21.

The attack iis the latest in a long series of racial attacks in Europe in general and in France in particular. France has Western Europe's largest population of both Jews and Muslims. President Nicolas Sarkozy condemned the assault and Jewish organizations called it an act of anti-Semitism. Interior minister Michele Alliot-Marie issued a statement saying she "strongly condemned the anti-Semitic violence".

I, along with many others who believed in MLK's vision of EQUALITY and PARITY for minorities and women -- all oppressed people -- are horrified in how MLK's vision for his people has been co-opted and corrupted by this "movement" led by Obama. MLK preached to us to evaluated people not by the color of their skin, but the content of their character. Black Liberation Theology, which has its roots in the Black Liberation Army (a domestic terrorist group in the '60s that cooperated in several terrorist attacks with Bill Ayers and his Weather Underground), preaches black supremacy, which is just as wrong as white supremacy. To have any race, ethnic group, gender, religion or sexual preference to be supreme over others is wrong. However, this Black Liberation Theology is the underpinning of the Obama movement. And throwing Rev. Wright, Father Pfleger and Trinity under the bus does not divorce him from that philosophy that he has embraced and been programmed to believe since his early 20s.

Perhaps one of the most disturbing aspects of this "movement" if their total lack of respect for those who have come before them -- those on whose shoulders they stand. From the civil rights leaders like Cliburn and Jackson to their collaborators and partners in the white community from President Johnson to Bill and Hillary Clinton, this "movement" has dissed them all. Telling us that they are "turning the page" and don't need (or want) us anymore. We can take our experience and our knowledge home and go get in our rocking chairs and leave this world we help build to the new "movement," as their leader Obama scoffs at experience as "Washington trying to boil all the hope out of him." Forget experience and wisdom, which are the building blocks of judgment, along with character. He will base his judgment on instinct alone. He tries to characterize all the efforts to point out his weaknesses are "fear mongering," but it is rational to be fearful of handing over the reigns of government and the power of the leader of the free world to a man that scoffs at experience and bases his superior judgment -- an his presidential candidacy -- on one speech given in the safety of the absence of any real informed commitment (Iraq), especially when he didn't bother to show up for the same vote on Iran.

The real racists in this election are the blacks supporting Obama, who have threatened to leave the party if he wasn't nominated, and who are now threatening to cause problems if he doesn't win the election. This not-so-subtle message was being transmitted from a number of black leaders very early on. In fact, right after Obama won IA. That started the drum-beat to get Hillary to quit the race and "let" Obama win.

I demonstrated for minorities and women to have equal rights and equal protection under the law. Emphasis on EQUAL, not superior or better or favored status. And one of the wonderful things about MLK is he realized that every time anyone who is one of the "outsiders" gets their foot in the door, it opens up the door for others as well. This "movement" of Obama's does not have that tolerance or that goal to open up and share the power. They have basically walked through that door of opportunity and slammed it in the faces of those waiting in line behind them. They want it all for themselves and expect you to show the proper gratitude that they are 'allowing" you any consideration at all, if at all. You are not allowed to question their authority. That disturbs me more than ever. This total disregard for my personhood and my civil rights and my civil liberties is the most troubling aspect of all.

That's why I say MLK would roll over in his grave if he realized what was being done now. Like Bill Clinton, I waited all my life to be able to vote for a good black person and a good woman for president. Hillary Rodham Clinton was a good woman who would have made a good president. Barack Obama is not.

I noticed the intro with www.DetroitIsCrap.com on it. So of course I go to check the website out and I was welcomed by a banner that said "Detroit News For Whites". After reading that I pretty much knew what kind of ignorant crap that I was in for. The site has navigation links that are titled Black Crime Stats, Black STD Stats, DiversityIsCrap, and Ruins of Detroit. I swear it never ceases to amaze me what sick, ignorant, and racist people take the time out to do. Like who the fuck takes their time out to put together a site like that? These fools actually take donations too, stating that if this site has been beneficial to you please make a small donation for bandwidth costs. Anywho, usually stuff like this makes my blood boil but, today I'm like whatever. Fuck the foolery.

http://www.uwm.edu/~gjay/Whiteness/stranger.htm

I read that essay last week, and I didn't, at first, take into account when it was written, and it just about blew my mind. I had such difficulty understanding this man's attitude, and I felt like he was overreacting. Now, it may just be my ignorance that contributed to this; as a white woman, perhaps I just can never understand the life of a black male in the United States, but I somehow still feel like James Baldwin had a rather harsh attitude toward the people in that village.

Now, I mentally flinch at the word 'nigger' just like anyone, even typing it just now caused a pretty significant amoung of time spent on whether or not I should allow myself to back down and call it 'the n-word.' I can hardly stand thinking it in my own mind, I've never said it, and hearing someone else speak it bothers me to no end, and I can almost not think why. There's a book, by that title, with the subtitle "The strange career of a troublesome word" that I heard about in a sociology class. The author explores the history of the word, and why people react to it in the way that they do, and I have never been able to screw up the courage to buy it, seeing as I could not stand the judgement, real or imagined, of even a bookstore clerk.

Even so, this essay threw me. I've never thought that the racial problems in this country are nearly as bad as Baldwin made them out to be, and I never thought that racism was present enough to have such an effect on anyone as to cause them to think and write like this.

However, as soon as I realized when this essay was written, my understanding changed. As soon as the date 1955 entered my mind, I understood everything. This instantaneous change in my thoughts on the piece led me to question why there is such a marked difference between the generations. And there is indeed a very severe gap between the older generation, the civil rights generation, and my own.

With Barack Obama in possession of the Democratic nomination for the Presidency, race is at the forefront of American politics for the moment, but it is tiptoed around in such a way as to avoid giving offense. It is talked about in a political way by almost everyone, discussing how it will effect his candidacy and his political success. Even so, people my age don't give his race a single thought outside of the political side, at least, none of the people I've come into contact with.

My father, on the other hand, is amazed on a daily basis that he lived to see a black man come this close to leading our nation. I was surprised when I first heard this from him, not realizing that he grew up in a world where black people were strictly oppressed and had very few rights compared to whites. I've never experienced that. Segregation was never a part of my life, in any context, and I've never looked twice at someone because of the color of their skin. So perhaps, it is a matter of my generation not understanding everything that both sides of the civil rights movement went through, and that is a lot more influential on the country today, and in politics in particular, than is the matter of race. We hardly even look at it.

This week, Reverend Dr. John M. Perkins, founder of the Christian Community Development Association

This week, Reverend Dr. John M. Perkins, founder of the Christian Community Development Association and the John M. Perkins Foundation, spoke at Covenant about the righteous' response to the breakdown of the family and the community in urban America. He explained the problem in the inner city of 84% of children raised without a father and attributed problems these children experience in school to this family breakdown. According to Dr. Perkins, a greater problem is our broken community; however, which should catch the family when it is broken. He explained the failing of the church as a force in the immediate community since many churches are made up of outsiders who only frequent the church on Sundays and he strongly endorsed the recent creation of Hope for the Inner City which combines urban ministries and volunteers with local church congregations in order to implement programs in the immediate community.

Dr. Perkins encouraged God's people to respond this brokenness in the 5 following ways:

1. Bring faith back into the center of life by depending on God's Word and seeking God in his fullness.

2. Dehijack prayer which has become a product of individualism, selfishness and greed by asking the Lord "What would you have me do for you?"

3. Finish decolonializing the Gospel by becoming a healing element in our society and taking responsibility for the actions of the people of our day.

4. Bring the church back to the center place.

5. Teach principles (a philosophy) of how to solve the problems of our society.

In Dr. Perkins' experience and work, this philosophy is summarized by his "3 R's" for building community: Relocation, Reconciliation, and Redistribution. He particularly stressed the problem with our thinking that depriving the economically poor access to education and resources will enrich the non-poor and he spoke of reconciliation resulting from disregarding this bigoted thinking.

Dr. Perkin's closed with this short poem of how community development work should be done:

Go to the people

Live among them

Learn from them

Love them

Start with what they know

Build on what they have:

But of the

best leaders

When their task is done

The people will remark

“We have done it ourselves.”

Can we break down longstanding prejudices about race and gender in this year's presidential election?

There's Barack Obama, the black presidential candidate. There's Sarah Palin, the female VP candidate.

Even though she's not a candidate, there's also Hillary Clinton, the woman who garnered the famed 18 million voters in her long race to the White House.

Michael Steele, the former Lieutenant Governor of Maryland and a leading African-American Republican, acknowledges there is something special about this year's campaign.

"That's transformative and transitional... you have both parties taking bold steps forward to advance the ideal of America through its politics," Steele told Delmarva Public Radio's Don Rush.

Is America finally changing? Are we becoming a perfect union, of equality?

Feminist Gloria Steinem, calling herself a "hope-a-holic," wants to see something positive come out of the Palin VP pick.

Here's what she sees that could be positive:

"Republicans may learn they can't appeal to right-wing patriarchs and most women at the same time. A loss in November could cause the centrist majority of Republicans to take back their party," Steinem wrote in the L.A. Times.

New Hampshire radio and television talk show host Arnie Arnesen, speaking on Iowa Public Radio, said the Palin pick was a weak effort to appease Hillary Clinton supports who wanted a female candidate.

Is Palin playing the token woman role?

Is Obama playing the token black role?

Problems of racism in this country are not going to end with Barack Obama's candidacy, said Michael Steele.

"That's a lie. It doesn't happen by Barack Obama giving a speech about race. It doesn't happen by nominating him for the presidency," he told Delmarva Public Radio.

When will the lie end, Michael? When will your hopes come true, Gloria? On November 4, 2008? In 2012? As ever in this election -- we'll have to wait and see.

The more that comes out about Palin it seems that she is a woman that only a Republican can love.

She did refer to herself as a pitbull with lipstick and people laughed at the joke. Those in Alaska know only how true it is.

In a letter that went viral last week, Wassilian Anne Kilkenny said that many people were afraid to speak out against Palin. Kilkenny said was speaking out because "bad things happen when good people stay silent”. But she also expect retribution for speaking out.

"I am no fool," Kilenny wrote. "She is immensely popular here, and it is likely that this will
cost me somehow in the future: that’s life."

In an article for the LA Progressive, Alaskans confide that she is "vindictive and mean". The site also interviewed a waitress who served Palin and five to six other people, who said she overheard Palin say to her table, “So Sambo beat the bitch!”

“It was kind of disgusting,” Lucille, who is part Aboriginal, said in a phone interview after admitting that she is frightened of being discovered telling folks in the “lower 48” about life near the North Pole.

Then, almost with a sigh, she added, “But that’s just Alaska.”

Other people who know Palin have said she has referred to Alaskan Aboriginals as "mukluks" and "Arctic Arabs".

Her husband, Todd Palin, is half Yupik Eskimo.

With Govenor Palin being thoroughly vetted perhaps McCain has heard rumors of Palin's alleged racist attitudes. Whether the rumors are tue or not, her being thought of as making bold (bigoted) statements against minorities will play well with voters who have stated they won't vote for a black man.

It's not that McCain or Palin is racist, but they probaby want to make sure the racists get go the polls, too.
