Para identificar mulheres lésbicas:

• Ter unhas curtas (por motivos óbvios né), já aumenta as chances da garota ser sapacaxa, mas ter unhas compridas e pintadas (principalmente francesinha ou cores clarinhas) é praticamente certeza de ser hétera
• Gostar de cantoras de MPB como Ana Carolina, Simone etc, nem preciso falar né. Se adorar showzinhos de MPB, ao vivo, as chances já triplicam.
• Normalmente as garotas lésbicas são mais agressivas, tente fazer algum comentário machista que você vai ver o que vai acontecer com os seus dentinhos.

Menines lésbicas quando vão juntas ao banheiro, é pra se pegarem. zenzualíssimo.

Nel film ricchissimo cast composto da Hugh "Wolverine" Jackman (Robert Angier/Il grande Dalton), Christian "Batman" Bale (Alfred Borden), Michael Caine (Cutter), Piper Perabo (Julia Angier), Scarlett Johansson (Olivia), Andy "Gollum" Serkis (Alley) e David Bowie (Nikola Tesla).

Siamo alla fine del 19° secolo (stranamente oltre l'argomento anche il periodo ricorda "The illusionist") e troviamo due amici aspiranti illusionisti che lavorano come assistenti dello stesso "prestigiatore". Cutter è l'inventore di trucchi e magie ed illusioni che aiuta, insegna e consiglia i due.
Una sera durante uno spettacolo Julia, la moglie di Robert (Hugh Jackman) viene legata da Alfred (Christian Bale) per eseguire un numero di liberazione dalle corde in una vasca piena d'acqua (come in "Houdini"). Il numero non finisce bene e Robert incolpa Alfred dell'accaduto rendendo i due di fatto rivali e opponendo fine alla loro amicizia.
Da qui partono le carriere parallele dei due che tentano in ogni modo di ostacolare quella dell'avversario e di divenire il migliore con illusioni sempre più difficili e meravigliose.
L'ossessione di entrambi sembra poi divenire quella che è l'illusione di potersi trasportare da un luogo all'altro scomparendo alla vista del pubblico (una sorta di teletrasporto antelitteram).
Prima ci riesce uno e l'altro impazzisce tentando di carpirne il segreto, poi ci riesce il secondo grazie all'intervento di Nikola Tesla ed il primo - suo malgrado - ne rimane a sua volta ossessionato.
Non dico altro perchè rovinerei la sorpresa ma vi dico da subito che il film (un po' come "Memento") è costruito in maniera raffinata e in parte grazie ai flashback. Non è un film facile ma con attenzione si colgono molti riferimenti che solo nel finale acquistano un senso. Bellissime certe sequenze e doppi rimandi in tutto il film in un gioco fatto di avvenimenti e persone a specchio: per non dire troppo cercate di notare come siano uguali i destini dei due illusionisti e delle rispettive mogli o come Borden vada incontro al suo destino in un crescendo che sembra anch'esso un numero d'attrazione (le corde, le cinghie sembrano l'anticamera di una successiva illusione...)

Chiudo dicendo che spesso durante il film si pensa di aver capito tante cose e ci si illude (appunto) di aver colto da subito quello che ci riserva il finale ma...in realtà non è così! Il finale poi è shockante ( e potrebbe non piacere ma personalmente l'ho trovato perfetto).

Un film denso, intenso, attori bravissimi, un regista in stato di grazia. Da rivedere per cogliere aspetti "minori" e dettagli importanti per assaporare meglio la costruzione dell'intreccio. Davvero un grande film.

Aidan Quinn, Rutger Hauer, Piper Perabo, Andie MacDowell, Sharon Lawrence, John Carroll Lynch, Warren Christie y Morris Chestnut conforman el elenco de este peculiar proyecto.

Peculiar porque se trata de una versión gótica y actual del clásico de la literatura Hamlet. Aunque esta vez la tragedia abandona tierras danesas para trasladarse a la ciudad de Detroit.

Allí seguiremos las peripecias de un apacible profesor de filosofía que, tras la muerte de su padre, deberá ponerse al frente del millonario negocio autmovilístico familiar. Para aumentar sus problemas, el fantasma de su progenitor se le aparecerá para alertarle sobre su tío, su auténtico asesino, y exigir venganza.

“ I'm not a lesbo! I'm Paulie, and I'm in love with Tory!”

Lost and Delirious è un prodotto che va maneggiato con cura, va guardato senza pregiudizi, ma soprattutto va osservato cercando di evitare ogni tipo di introspezione che potrebbe causare. Senza seguire tali consigli, lo si potrebbe guardare con pregiudizi troppo forti, che farebbero propendere l'ago della bilancia da un lato o dall'altro. Prima di tutto, il pregiudizio sull'omosessualità va eliminato, un po' come accade con tutti i film di tale genere. Il secondo pregiudizio da bruciare è appunto il ritenerlo un film di genere. Lost and Delirious NON è un lezmovie regolare, se per lezmovie vogliamo intendere un film di “Orgoglio Lesbo”. La storia prende luogo in un realistico College Canadese, la Bishop's College High School di Lexington, Québec, Canada, nei primi anni del terzo millennio. In breve, narra del tormentato amore tra Paulie e Tory, visto dal punto di vista di Mary “Mouse” B. . Il film gioca bene le sue carte, cercando di scendere nel profondo della psiche della narratrice interna, la quindicenne Mary B. (una convincentissima Mischa Barton, Il sesto senso, Notting Hill, The O.C.[T.V]), nuova iscritta dell'istituto, che si ritrova a dividere la stanza con due ragazze, Victoria “Tory” Moller (Jessica Parè) e Pauline “Paulie” Oster (Piper Perabo, “Coyote Ugly”). Le tre compagne di stanza sono tre personaggi totalmente diversi: Tory è una ragazza tranquilla, ordinaria, un po' carente in matematica, occasionale fumatrice; Paulie, dal suo canto, è una ragazza sfrenata, fumatrice appassionata, impetuosa e sfrontata; Mary “Mouse” invece, è una piccola ragazzina timida, che poco conosce del mondo. Tutte sono accomunate da situazioni familiari non vissute in modo sereno, ed è proprio questa caratteristica che le unisce per davvero, come amiche. Le giornate, alla Bishop, passano tra una lezione di letteratura, una lezione di matematica, qualche tiro di sigaretta, e un bel po' di educazione fisica. Il ritratto fatto dall'autrice della sceneggiatura (Susan Swan, unica opera) è convincente, e risulta gradevole da seguire, sebbene forse un po' stereotipato. Ciò che invece appare evidente allo spettatore, sin dalle prime battute, è il fortissimo sentimento che lega Paulie e Tory. E' chiaro che l'amicizia delle due è da tempo maturata in un sentimento ben più forte, e la cosa appare quanto di più naturale possibile, anche ai meno abituati alla presenza scenica di un amore omosessuale. Tale coppia, però, è di breve vita, sullo schermo, in quanto presto si dividerà a causa dei pettegolezzi che nascono all'interno della scuola. Il resto della storia, va osservato, non spiegato a parole, in quanto potrebbe sembrare quantomeno scontato e poco interessante.

Ciò che colpisce, del film, è la preponderanza di sentimento, è la potenza di queste sensazioni vissute da Paulie, che la spingono al tragico finale. Ciò che invece resta incomprensibile, è il peso di tante cose che restano solo dettagli quasi fini a se stessi, come il ruolo del giardiniere, o anche, e questo lo ammetto con molto dispiacere, l'importanza vera dell'amore per la madre di Mary B. Queste due cose, sembrano lanciate là come pretesto, o anche come riempitivo, e rendono quello che potrebbe essere un grande film drammatico, un bel film drammatico, ma poco, pochissimo al di sopra della media. La regia svolge come si deve il suo lavoro, esclusion fatta per la scena “hot”, (che fa ulteriormente cadere il film nella categoria di cui sopra) che si sarebbe potuta gestire meglio, con meno indugi sui particolari, e più “poesia”. Insomma, dal punto di vista tecnico estetico, il film bene o male non fa una piega, con inquadrature adatte, giochi di luce carini e scene non troppo lunghe e prolisse. Per quel che riguarda la sceneggiatura, come già detto, non si può dire lo stesso. Ci sono delle idee che sembrano buttate là, mentre ce ne sono altre azzeccatissime, con l'idea del falco, vera e propria metafora di vita. Ciò non toglie che il vero e proprio fulcro della storia, l'amore di Paulie, resta in primo piano fino all'ultimo fotogramma del lungometraggio. Nota leggermente dolente, invece, è quella appunto della colonna sonora. Ci si sarebbe aspettati, e questo è un punto a favore, una colonna sonora Indie o College Rock, ma ciò che ci si trova ad ascoltare è il tipico repertorio di musica da Teenager movie, con pezzi che non sanno esaltare i grandi momenti e i grandi personaggi che si trova ad avere la storia. Infine, e qui c'è il vero dramma, la traduzione è stata davvero PESSIMA. Basti pensare alla scena in cui Paulie, verso l'inizio, decide di “ribattezzare” Mary, e da Mary B. la chiama Mary Brave, la coraggiosa. In italiano, viva la tristezza traduttoria, la chiama Mary Brava. Basti questo per far comprendere il livello dell'adattamento. Una solita occasione sprecata, coronata inoltre dalla scelta delle doppiatrici, troppo adulte per certi personaggi e troppo giovani per altri. Di contro, invece, la versione originale ha un audio particolarmente raffinato, con suono ambientale assente durante le frequenti scene di sussurro.

Insomma, un film con alti e bassi, con punti di forza (tanti) e punti di debolezza (non troppi), che si fa godere, ma che spesso fa nascere la sensazione di “atteso”, sensazione che dovrebbe essere bandita da ogni film inneggiante all'amore, che per definizione è inatteso e inaspettato.

Insomma, un film piacevole, che sa interessare, sa guidare in un mondo di prima adolescenza, ma che per determinate scelte, cade nel “già visto” e soprattutto nella categoria di Lezmovie “ordinario”. Insomma, niente di nuovo sotto il sole, sotto troppi punti di vista, per definirlo un capolavoro. Ma, va sottolineato, sotto un certo punto di vista è un'opera unica. Un vero e proprio inno all'amore, un canto di amore folle, “Delirious” come nel titolo, ma tristemente “Lost”.

Un film di non nominata dedica, alle persone convinte di aver perso l'amore, che contiene un tacito monito per chi crede che tutto sia perduto, dopo tale perdita, e che sa ritrarre, negli ultimi fotogrammi, il dramma di chi resta. Forti sentimenti, peccato solo per la realizzazione, troppo ordinaria, troppo poco “osante”, troppo poco in linea con il carattere di Paulie, il personaggio principale della storia. Un film non per tutti, ma solo per gli appassionati d'amore, di storie d'amore, e di sentimenti che vanno al di là di ogni cosa.

Manifiesta gilipollez producida por el magnate del cine de acción Jerry Bruckheimer y Touchstone (Tostón) Pictures y dirigida en 2000 por David McNally (director también de Canguro Jack, trinca y brinca, lo cual lo dice todo...) esta película de apenas hora y media de duración es un suplicio. Protagonizada por Piper Perabo (¿quién decía que hacía falta un nombre artístico para abrirse paso en Hollywood? ¿qué clase de nombre es ese?), la película, azucarada y almibarada hasta más allá de lo admisible y rodada como un film calentorro de baratillo, nos cuenta la historia de una jovencita de provincias de voz dulce y aterciopelada educada en los coros de iglesia wasp que marcha a Nueva York (aunque, al contrario que en la horripilante canción de Mecano, no especifica si llevaba o no la botella de Fundador) a convertirse en cantante y/o letrista de éxito. Lo que pasa es que la nena, buena y dócil cual pajarillo campestre, va a caer en un antro de perdición y lujuria, el Bar Coyote, cuyo atractivo básico consiste en que las camareras, tías buenorras donde las haya, visten de manera provocativa y cuando toca se suben en la barra a contorsionarse lúbricamente para calentar al personal masculino y parte del femenino meneando el pandero y aumentar así la cantidad de consumiciones gracias al bamboleo de su silicona y la flexibilidad de los pespuntes heredados de su paso por el cirujano plástico.

Rodada con cierta gracia y con la música de Trevor Horn, la película tiene todos los ingredientes del estilo "porno para abuelos" tan querido a creadores como José Luis Moreno, en este caso en su versión "porno para adolescentes para ver en compañía de sus padres". Combina un romance empalagoso entre la niña bien que hace como que se porta mal y el chico guaperas de turno con escenas coreográficas más bien cutres en las que las mozas del garito chapotean en la barra y lucen sus modelitos de tres tallas menos cual trajes de buzo moldeados por el plástico. La historia resulta nauseabundamente previsible y el pastelón edulcorado se hace indigerible. Desde luego, no merece la pena aguantar hora y media de truño para "disfrutar" de cuatro bailes pseudo provocativos y siliconados como único aliciente.

Con todo, esta película fue número uno de taquilla en USA (para que luego digan que sólo les gustan las películas violentas; también las idioteces mayúsculas) gracias al predominio del cine juvenil por aquellos lares. Infumable producto.

Creio que foram duas mulheres que me deram a dica desse filme, faz um tempinho. Se a memória não falhou teriam sido: uma amiga argentina, a Laura; e uma das minhas sobrinhas, a Nanda. Bem, se não forem elas, eu me retrato. Agora, se forem, poderão ver o quanto eu gostei do filme. Com a Laura, o nosso troca-troca de sugestões cinéfilas é maior.

Agora, esse filme me motivou a... Huhu! "Rapazes! Assistam esse filme! E riam com ele que mostra um universo bem feminino e real." Buá... Gente! Eu adorei! Ri muito. Fazer o que, se o filme além de divertido me fez pensar em lances reais. ...hehe! Ah outra diquinha aos Moços: "Lembrem-se que antes de ser sogra, ela é mãe e que quer o bem da filha!"

Entrando no filme... Entre cerimoniais de casamentos, pela sua empresa, Milly (Mandy Moore) não consegue um namoro fixo. A mãe, Daphne (Diane Keaton) resolve dar uma ajudinha. Se a filha não arruma um cara decente, ela, às escondidas, põe um anúncio na internet. Marca um encontro para fazer a seleção. A entrevista é divertidíssima!

O filme também traz algo que emociona. Um deles é a união de Molly com suas irmãs: Maggie (Lauren Graham) e Mae (Piper Perabo). Ambas casados. E os maridos delas "aparecem" de fato no aniversário da sogra. Foram ótimos!

O outro lance é a cumplicidade entre mãe e filhas. Em poder falar sobre tudo. Mesmo com a Daphne tão presente na vida íntima delas, elas, as filhas, levam na esportiva. E quando esquenta... uma joga para a outra. Voltando ao sério... Há um momento em que a Daphne se abre com a Milly... Não deu para segurar as lágrimas. Sou de uma geração que era raro esse tipo de intimidade da mãe para a filha. Até por conta disso, esse filme me tocou.

A trilha sonora é um dos ingredientes dessa festa. Great! Como também ver Diane Keaton atuando é sempre um presente! O filme é 10!! Esse entrou para minha lista de que vale a pena rever, sempre! Ah sim! Tem que ser muito cuca-fresca para gostar desse filme. Os ou as de mal humor é melhor escolherem outro filme. Esse é indicado àqueles que riem até da própria sombra.

Disney is again going to the dogs - and this time there's not a Dalmation in sight! Be on the lookout this September as America's favorite the feisty pocket-dogs - chihuahuas take over the big screen in Disney's new film "Beverly Hills Chihuahau!"

The film stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Piper Perabo as the humans in the film. Drew Barrymore as the voice of Chloe, Salma Hayek & Edward James Olmos adds their vocal talents to the mix, George Lopez voices Papi and other actors to lend their voices include Cheech Marin, Andy Garcia, and Paul Rodriguez.

The premise of the movie is While on vacation in Mexico, Chloe, a ritzy Beverly Hills chihuahua, finds herself lost and in need of assistance in order to get back home.

The Film is set for release on September 26, 2008.

I'll be playing with both Vehicle and Piper Perabo (complete with new songs!)... quietly.  Should be a good time.  There was a similar "staircase" during the ECMA's that was a pretty great success.  So come on by!  Then, buy some records!

In other news, we're moving on the 27th of April to our new deluxe apartment in the sky.  It's right downtown, across from Urban Alamanac (as I've mentioned before).  I was thinking that maybe people might be interested in a get together at the old apartment this weekend.  If there's any lasting interest, give a shout.  I'll probably also fire off an email.

Eight years after its release, this film is funnier, smarter, and more timely than ever.

In the movie, Rocky & Bullwinkle work with new FBI agent, Karen Sympathy (Piper Perabo) to prevent Rocky & Bullwinkle's arch enemies, Fearless Leader (Robert De Niro), Natasha (Rene Ruso) and Boris (Jason Alexander), from accomplishing their dastardly plan to hypnotize America using RBTV (Really Bad Television), thus creating mindless human beings, which will allow Fearless Leader to go on TV and get everyone to vote for him as President of the United States of America.

I'll focus on Fearless Leader's tactics to get everyone to vote for him as President in another blog, but for this blog, my subject is RBTV (Really Bad Television or in today's terms, Reality Bad Television) turning America into mindless human beings.

For some people, it wouldn't matter what the programming was -- simply because it airs on TV it is really bad television.

For me, I am not of that belief. Through the years I have enjoyed, laughed at or with, shed tears, and waited on the edge of my seat to find out who did what and to whom. Good storytellers have always made my life better. A good storyteller can teach me, entertain me, and/or take me out of my own life's challenges for a short period of time so that I may either feel a reprieve or gain a new perspective.

I appreciate good storytellers.

That's one of the reasons why I supported the writer's strike.

That's one of the reasons I am disappointed in CBS's decision to cancel Jericho.

As I wrote in an earlier blog, during the writer's strike I dove into the murky waters of Reality TV to see what could possibly be worth watching.

WOW.

RBTV is a reality.

The majority of these reality shows left me numb, dumb, and with a bigger bum. My energy level dropped with each viewing. I actually began to feel depressed and a sense of lost hope in the American public.

Out of the large numbers -- and I was surprised by how many are actually being aired -- I did find a few that were worth watching, but only one in which the contestants/real people were truly inspiring and the show was/is educational (The Biggest Loser).

That said, what none of the reality shows do -- even the ones I enjoy -- is take me out of my own life and into a story the way a good book or a movie can. I never leave the viewing of a reality show feeling like I do when the credits of a good movie roll or when I close the back cover after having read the last page of a good book or when I watch the last scene of a weekly serial drama and am left on the edge of my seat wondering what will happen next week.

Close your eyes and remember the first time you saw the Wizard of Oz or the first time you watched it with your children.

Close your eyes and remember the feeling of the first time you saw a movie in a theater on a big screen.

Close your eyes and remember your favorite childhood cartoons.

Close your eyes and remember your favorite television shows when you were growing up.

There's just something about the creativity of the arts that brings people together, that inspires them to new heights, that builds a community, and that can strengthen the collective spirit of a generation.

Reality TV does not hold any of these qualities or abilities.

And the long term numbers show that more people enjoy the creativity of the arts than they do reality TV.

According to Nielsen ratings...

...from 1950 to the present, only 3 reality shows are listed as the top rated TV series during a specific year: Arthur Godfrey's Talent Scouts (1951), Survivor (2000) and American Idol (2004 - 2007).

...from 1964 to the present, the top 45 primetime telecasts do not include one episode of Reality TV.

...from 1964 to the present, the top 3 network primetime telecasts of all time are MASH (the final episode), Dallas (Who Shot JR?) and Roots (finale).

...Superbowl's 1982 and 1983 round out the top 5 network primetime telecasts of all time since 1964.

...during a 38 year period, the American public has demonstrated its preference for storyline driven television.

Being a part the entertainment industry, I have always been amazed by how an industry that produces creativity on a daily basis functions on many levels with extraordinarily little creativity.

Maybe that's because the most creative thinkers are rarely the top decision makers.

It's not often that directors, creative producers, or actors become heads of studios or television networks. Tom Cruise is an exception to the rule.

Most often the people in the top positions are finance people or excellent deal making people. Most often the top people are numbers people.

And that's what makes all of the numbers on Jericho so interesting.

According to the New York Daily News...

...as of March 8, 2008 the most downloaded television show on iTunes was Jericho.

...and absolutely none of the top 10 downloaded television shows were reality shows.

According to TiVo...

...for the week ending 3/23/08, Jericho is listed in the top 25 most recorded television shows.

...for the week ending 3/23/08, out of 25 television shows only 3 reality shows made it on the most downloaded list.

...for the week ending 3/23/08, America proved again that they prefer storyline driven television over reality TV.

...and America proved again that Jericho is one of their most favorite programs currently on air.

As an MBA, I believe with iTunes and TiVo being much more up to date systems for counting the accuracy of viewers, their numbers should hold, at least, equal value to those gathered by the standard methodology used by Nielsen.

According to The Conference Board...

...more consumers are watching broadcast TV online.

...as of October 15, 2007, more than 16% of American households were watching TV online.

...as of October 15, 2007, the number of American households watching entire episodes/shows online doubled from the previous year.

...as of October 15, 2007, Lynn Franco, Director of The Conference Board Research Center, the number of online television viewers is likely to increase.

...as of October 15, 2007, nearly 73 percent of online households use the Internet for entertainment purposes on a daily basis.

With all of these numbers in mind, I am confused by CBS's cancelation of Jericho.
With the networks just having learned a HUGE lesson in the importance of downloaded material and television shows watched online, I am truly stumped by the "numbers" people at CBS.

During the very short period of time Jericho has had to find its land legs, the show has done remarkably well...

...after its first season (ONE SEASON), a rally cry like none other from all television viewers combined came about.

...after a long writer's strike that disappointed and frustrated much of the television audience, Jericho came in as the #1 downloaded television show on iTunes.

...after a long writer's strike that disappointed and frustrated much of the television audience, Jericho made it into the top 25 television shows recorded on TiVo.

Sometimes in business decisions need to be made based upon quality and long term.

Sometimes in business decisions need to be based upon long-term faith in people rather than short-term numbers in a book.

Sometimes in business decisions need to be made with courage and belief in a good product.

Sometimes in business decisions need to be made with the knowledge that all good things build with time.

Sometimes in business decisions need to be made by going back and reviewing the market over a long period of time.

Sometimes in business decisions need to be made based upon the value of the product offered to the consumer.

Sometimes in business this consumer needs for network television decisions to be made based upon the value of RGTV.

Really Good Television.

Jericho is really good television.
