Quem nunca ouviu falar do Photoshop, Hoje adobe Photoshop Cs3 (última Versão)?

Vale a pena conferir: https://www.photoshop.com/express/landing.html

Some of the long time readers of the blog will be knowing about my liking for graphics softwares and websites. While surfing the web today I came across Sumopaint. I immediately fired it up and started using. A little over 2 minutes after using the application I was just crazy about it. Its simply amazing. So I thought I would share it with my readers.

Photo editing

Sumopaint is an online flash based application that allows you to create content from start of you can apply some of the effects you find in photoshop. You can call it a striped down version of photoshop just like photoshop express. However while photoshop express only allows you to do effects on your photos, Sumopaint actually gives you a variety of drawing tools as well that you can use to create your art.

To start with you can find rectangular select tool, move tool, gradient tool, pencil tool, brush tool, paint bucket, Erasertool etc

In shape tools you get rectangles, rounded rectangles, ellipse, pie, polygon, star, line and symmetry tool

In effects it offers blur tool, smudge tool

It also has a free transform tool, a text tool, an eyedropper tool.

Sounds a lot like photoshop doesn't it, oh wait wait wait, did I mention layers support? Yes! It has layers too. Color swatches, color palettes and wow....

The palettes and tools

The layers support basic functionality like reordering, adding, deleting layers, flattening all layers. Next on very photoshop like you have a Filters Menu. So what all is included in it? Start counting because here I begin: Blur, Sharpen, Emboss, Detect edges, Twirl, Liquid waves, Noise, Perlin Noise, Clouds, Brightness/contrast, Hue/Saturation, Color Balance, Desaturate and Negative.

What's more when you select a tool you even get an options bar for the tool just as you would get in Photoshop. Nifty, ha? Like when you select the brush tool you can change the brush shape, scattering, diameter, opacity from the options bar.

Its one of the best web apps out there, the control you get with the cursor is amazing, and the symmetry tool is awesome, you just have to use it and see it in action to believe what it can do. The folks have done a very very good job. 5/5 stars from me.

Ah.. just for the sake of completeness, since it on the web so you can't ignore the social aspects of the app, you can create your profile and view other user's work, being online means that two or more people can collaborate and so much more fun and productive.

Let me get my hands wet and show you my master piece!

Creating art!

OK, my master piece is not top class stuff but was created in under a Minute! You got to give some concessions to me and credits to sumopaint. Here is what I did incase you want to emulate my art!

Fill the background layer with a gradient (Choose gradient tool, choose two colors and just click and drag your mouse)

Create a new layer (Click add on layers palette or choose new layer from layers menu) then choose the symmetry tool, choose bright colors and just scribble around (in short strokes, changing colors often, you can change the shape of symmetry tool from the options bar as well).
Choose filter > Liquid Waves (play with settings till you are satisfied)

Lower the opacity (till you are satisfied) of currently selected layer so that the background layer shows through, change blend mode (towards the top of layers palette) to Linear dodge.

Create a new layer, choose the brush tool and change the shape to stars or something similar and just randomly click here and there!

There you have it, your result will look different for sure but you get the idea! Pheew! It took more time to type the steps than it took to create it.

Most of all have fun at Sumopaint, its really good, trust me I am very critical and don't get blown away by things easily but I can't help praising Sumopaint.

Eto pa yung isang maganda: may 3GB space kapa at personal sharing URL.

http://www.lifeclever.com/10-free-web-based-alternatives-to-photoshop/

I’m fed up with Photoshop and its one billion rarely-used features.

How about a simple photo-editor that’s quick, easy, and doesn’t cost a thousand dollars. Fortunately, there’re tons of web-based photos editors popping up. Most are crap, but some are promising. Check out these free web-based Photoshop alternatives:

1. Picnik

Arguably, Picnik is the most popular web-based photo editor. Why? Because it’s now integrated with Flickr.

2. Splashup

Very polished interface. Tools and palettes are modeled after Photoshop. And it has layers!

3. Phoenix

Part of the Aviary suite of creative apps, Phoenix also offers layers and compositing.

4. Photoshop Express

Adobe was a little late to the web-apps game, but this is a pretty good first try. I like the free 2GB of space. Unlike the real Photoshop, this web version has no ability to layer or composite images.

5. Snipshot

Nice, simple, and clear interface, with no ads at all.

6. flauntR

flautR offers a cornucopia of image tools, boasting thousands of photo effects. If you want to make your photo look like a cheezy painting, this is the place.

7. Pic Resize

Another ad-free editor. I love the huge buttons.

8. Pixenate

Hmm… looks like Pixenate was “inspired” by Pic Resize. The icons and ads are annoyingly awful, but the app works.

9. FotoFlexer

Another simple interface. This one enables you to composite and “layer” images but without using a traditional layers palette. Instead, you can drag the photos and “push” them back or forward.

10. Phixr

An example of how ugly these apps can get.

This last week I took several photos with an old Tower 20B 1960's rangefinder camera. The camera produced decent results, but due to the low light or somewhat expired film many of the shots were extremely grainy and fuzzy. I had Longs scan the photos onto a CD so I could actually do something with them, and Photoshop Express came to the rescue of my fuzzy photos. Even with the limited feature set of the online version, I was able to do everything I needed to clean up and color correct my pictures. After I was done editing, it was a snap to send them over to my flickr. My only complaint is that they show up on flickr restricted to friends and family only. I haven't found a place to change my default settings yet, but it's only a minor issue.

Apologies for my recent posting laziness. One of the hazards of running a work related blog, is work getting in the way. Damn.

To make up for my shoddiness here are a few sites (some new, some not so new) that I think point to the way the web is developing at the moment.

CLOUD COMPUTING

First off - the cloud, the mesh, the whatever. The cloud refers to accessing computing services over the web rather than from your desktop - see definition here. In other words applications live 'out there in the cloud' rather than inside your machine. For a while now I've been using google docs (for word processing, presentations and spreadsheets). The following google docs video gives a good explanation for why you might find cloud computing useful:

But there are many more interesting examples of cloud applications starting to appear. A month or so ago Adobe made Photoshop Express freely available as a cloud app. The app allows users to tweak, store and place images on flickr, facebook, etc. It's not anywhere near as advanced as the full version (obviously), but it does point to the way users can expect to access more services away from their desktop. And it's free.

As is box.net a free online storage and collaboration application. I use it to (along with flickr for photo's) to keep my hard drive free of unnecessary data and as a security back-up in case my home computer gets stolen.

Another tool that I find useful is LogMeIn - this cloud app allows you to access your home computer from anywhere in the world. So far it feels secure. It also allows you to create a vpn (virtual private network) which is able to connect multiple computers. And like box.net it can act as storage backup - except LogMeIn can do this automatically.

FREE STUFF

Although not a cloud app, AVG is well worth downloading (if you're running Windows or Linux). It's free anti-virus software. Like lots of free software it does encourage you to upgrade (and pay) for a more advanced solution.

NICHE SOCIAL NETWORKING

For the past year or so lots of brands have tried to exploit the opportunities offered by social network, but only a few have been brave enough to launch their own niche networks. Courvoisier have their future 500 network for today's most thrusting and select business stars. And earlier this year the Financial Times announced the thrillingly named FT Media and Technology Executive Membership Forum - a £2,000 a year subscription based network designed to enable senior executives to 'maintain contact with peers and luminaries operating within the digital, new media, mobile and telecoms sectors.' Phew - and pricey too.

More exciting is quark's social network hooking up designers and allowing them to share their portfolios online. Ilovedesign is the site.

VIDEO

Video services seem to be all the rage at the moment. Youtube are due to launch a live video streaming product soon, for a while now kyte have been allowing users to create their own tv channel streaming content live (and rather badly) from their mobiles. But for me, the most exciting video project (and no doubt youtube will nix this when they launch their service) is Y!Live an experimental release from Yahoo. The site takes live video from your webcam and simply streams it to the world - bingo, your own personal tv channel.

I can see huge opportunities for brands here. Especially in the fundraising space. Imagine a regular stream from your favourite charity in the developing world, where field workers report in each day to chat about their projects and introduce the local people they're working with. Supporters of the charity would have a instant view of how their money is having an impact, and the charity has a new, low budget media channel - they also incidentally have an instant video conferencing ability allowing dozens of people in many different locations to see what they're up to.

...and Facebook and Photobucket and Picasa.

Photoshop Express has inked a deal with many photo websites to allow editing of your photos on those sites in Photoshop Express. I've formerly written about Photoshop Express itself and how I wasn't going to put my photos on that site, because of it's bad user policies, but now you don't have to, if you wish to use the online editing capabilities.

You just need to click to login to your photo website from Photoshop Express, and it'll load all your photos from your photo website for browsing. This transfer of images becomes rather slow if you have a lot of photos.

Editing a Flickr photo on Photoshop Express

While the editing controls aren't as plentiful as a software like Lightroom, what would you expect anyway for a free online tool? It's definitely quite sufficient for basic editing, with controls for Auto Correct, White Balance, Red Eye Removal, Fill Light, Saturation, B&W settings, etc. All I needed to correct my underexposed shot from the Portland Japanese Garden was a little exposure control and fill light. BTW, the image above hasn't been corrected yet, in case you're wondering.

Once you're done, Photoshop Express will save the edited image as a different photo with the same name into your original photo site. If you're happy, you can now delete the old photo.

Adobe rolls out Photoshop Express' (PSE) Flickr support, as well as an embeddable player for distributing your slideshows.

Flickr has the capability to round-trip photos into PSE for editing and back out to its site. Additionally, users of Photoshop Express albums will now be able to create multiple versions of a given image, a much-requested feature, according to Adobe.

Adobe simultaneously announced an embeddable player for posting your photos to home pages and blogs in glitzy slideshows.

I was so excited to see that Photoshop released a free version of its software (Photoshop Express).

I was so excited to see that Photoshop released a free version of its software (Photoshop Express). Within minutes of signing up, I was gleefully lightening, cropping, and creating picture doodles to my hearts content. Then I realized the implications for online daters who just can't resist the powers of Photoshop.

Case in point: Back in my single days, I remember coming across some a clear case of Photoshop of Horrors. Of the ten or so pictures he posted with his profile, the first few were standard issue: awwww.. there he is with grams, there he is on vacation, doing something sporty, at a wedding with his friends, etc..

Given all of these nice, normal pictures, I was unprepared for what came next. Up pops a photo of him with what I assume in the light of day was a very atttractive blonde woman. But he had slapped a bright yellow happy face on her. To make matters worse, two disembodied fingers emerged from her face, flashing a peace sign. In the next picture, her face was replaced by an even bigger brighter yellow happy face, this time wrapped in a U.S. flag bandana.

So not groovy, man.

I write all of this assuming that there isn't some deadly affliction that renders eyes, nose, and mouth mere thin black lines on round, bright yellow face. If there is, then people of the world, forgive me. I know not what I say.

Photoshop should be used for good, not evil. Unless you're Tucker Max. See Tucker Max's Almost Banned Miss Vermont Story.

To review:

Good = cropping, red-eye reduction, correcting over/under exposure.

Bad = removing or significantly altering features the Good Lord gave you, whitening out or otherwise disfiguring your ex as some sort of cosmic payback.

Please people, 'shop responsibly.

De curand (aproximativ) au aparut buzzword si photoshop express, ambele made by adobe.

Buzzwords are un design ireprosabil, singurul lucru care-i lipsea lui google docs.

(si nici nu apaream in vreo poza, pff...)

Da, migratia asta spre internets e tare simpatica.

nataliedee.com

Even after my horrible, horrible experience with Flickr, I have finally conceded to sign back on and upload away...even though the process is still slower than molasses (2-3 minutes per photo, if not longer.....this sucks if you have a lot of photos).

BACK STORY: Last November, I forgot my Flickr account password and it took customer service two days to manually reset it. Apparently the merge with Yahoo/SBC Global prevented me from resetting my password via e-mail because of the confusion over whose jurisdiction it was to help me. After making multiple customer service phone calls and e-mails to all three parties, I got an apology and a link to reset. However, after that annoying ordeal, I angrily blogged about my dissatisfaction on my discontinued Xanga (entry is titled "Fuck You Flickr!") and vowed to never sign on to Flickr again.

REALITY: Unfortunately, when so many people that you know have a flickr account that they update and engage daily, it is really hard to be the odd ball and use something else. So for a trial period, I am going to take Flickr back, but if you piss me off again, so help me.........just don't expect me to purchase a Pro account anytime soon!

So what crazy PR/Marketing campaign brought on this sudden interest in becoming a picture person? Thanks to my photo-taking and design-savvy friends and family who sent me links via IM to two cool new web-base applications and services (see below), I now want in on all the fun.

Blurb - Scrapbooking for people who hate scrapbooking. Basically, it's a publishing service that lets you design and print you photos into nicely bound soft/hard cover books with dust jackets. I am currently working on my first book, but it might take me a while to finish as my artistic gene is a bit under developed (the result of a liberal arts education and two years at The Agency).

Photoshop Express - Photoshop for people who can't justify buying the real thing. This is a very cool web-based version of Photoshop that's free and allows you to edit your pictures with Photoshop tools that have been simplified for people like me. Now I too can adjust lighting and clean up a pimply face.

Now for all you newbies and oldies to marketing who are still scratching their heads at how to run a proper WOMM campaign on-line....the IM technique is how it has been done, but for a more cutting-edge way to do it, I suggest that you look into Twitter and master it. So on that note, please stop with the direct mailing pieces and get with the program.

It looks like Adobe has now entered the online photo sharing business. See Adobe's press release here. Or follow this link to the Photoshop Express site.

Adobe has offered Lightroom 2.0 beta for us Lightroom customers.

I just took it for my first test drive and at first glance I don't see much difference from my current version 1.41. I did see a few fixes that I think should have been addressed in 1.41 such as when you go from the library module to the web module it starts loading all the images in your collection not just the ones you have selected.

It looks like they have mostly, at first glance, just moved the interface around but then this is just my first test drive so I'll let you know about what's new and improved after more testing.
