He may be small, dark and wasn't gifted with so much good looks like his Mexican opponents. His accent may be so thick that native English speakers might not understand what he is saying on TV. He even looks unhealthy and untidy due to his simplicity. He may be "just" a Filipino and others might not know where the Philippines is and yet, he managed to conquer the world with his extraodinary talent in boxing. Of course, I shouldn't be talking about any other boxing heroes nowadays but Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao, the Pinoy boxing superstar whose records cannot be surpassed as he continue to dominate the boxing world by being the first Filipino and Asian boxer to win four world titles in four weight divisions namely --- WBC Lightweight Champion, the WBC Super Featherweight Champion, IBF Super Bantamweight, and WBC Flyweight divisions.

At the age of 29, Manny Pacquaio has won 47 times in a total of 52 fights. 36 of which he won via knockout. He has three loses and two draws. What a record?

Pacquiao has destroyed the careers of some of the world's best boxing boxer including Marco Antonio Barrera, Juan Manuel Marquez, Erik Morales, Hector Velazquez, Oscar Larios, Jorge Solis and recently, David Diaz.

There are times when I wanna lose my trust in his ability and I sometimes bet on his opponent however, I always went wrong whenever I do that. Pacquiao is simply not a hard nut to crack and he's not gonna let everything he owns fade away just like that. He is actually more than money or fame right now. He is a statue of success that everybody dreams to be.

I have read some of other blogs and got this one who commented "Pacquaio is a mutant!" I almost laugh to it but the comment makes sense. Undeniably, it is a compliment. A mutant is an extraordinary being and take note, a mutant isn't a human being. That means that blogger thinks Pacman is more than a human. Of course, do not take it seriously because obviouly it is just a fanatic view. But what I really wanna say is, Manny Pacquaio is really a helluva man. Now I believe that where there is hardwork and dedication, success is easy. Pacman works really hard to achieve his goal weight and keep his body healthy. And working hard is literally a hard work especially to a Filipino who is not born in the US and not accustomed to American climate and all that. But Pacquiao will do everything to make his country proud. He is indeed an epitome of the 'hope' that the Philippines has lost for hundred of decades now! And I hope his personality, his humility, his nationalism and his success serves as a model to every Filipino and everyone in the whole world.

By Mr.Death (Waka Waka Waka)

Hi Diddly Ho, cartoon fanarinos! This week on yet another Intro Bonanza, we've got the 80s cartoon video game ledgend who later made a mediocre cartoon. No not Mario, Zelda, or anyone from Captian N. Pacman!

What is this? Seriously, what is this? So they are chasing Pacman so they can get power pellets? Arn't those just lying around everywhere? As far as I know, Pacman doesn't really carry around the pellets, he just finds them and eats them. Maybe if the Blinkys didn't chase him everywhere, they could just walk up, grab them, and walk away. And what's with the villian anyway? He has a really annoying voice. "Oh I want those power pellets! Get me the power pellets NOW!" I heard they were inspired for him while watching a game of Pacman and listning to kids beg their moms for quarters. "Oh I want some quarters! Get me the quarters NOW!" Plus, Pacdog and Paccat? Thats pushing it.

the search is on for the next opponent of the world’s best pound for pound boxer today and Phi

the search is on for the next opponent of the world's best pound for pound boxer today and Philippines' pride Manny Pacquiao.

On top of the list is Edwin Valero, the devastating fighter from Venezuela.

News circulating states that Valero has the inside track of the November 8 slated fight of Pacquiao.

Now is he the best opponent to choose if one is given the chance?

From my end I say no.

Why?

For some simple and practical reasons.

Valero will have nothing to lose but everything to gain.

Valero has an incredible boxing record of 24 wins no loss with all his wins by knockout including 19 in the first round.

He is currently the reigning World Boxing Association super-featherwieght champion.

Valero, 26 and managed by Akihiko Honda is no push over and obviously again a very dangerous opponent.

I find it too risky for Pacquiao to face Valero considering his status. When risk everything if you have other ways to still avoid it.

Why not face Ricky Hatton of Great Britain or Jose Casamayor.

In case he square off against Englishman Hatton even in his current 140 lbs division, super-lightweight, he will be up against an equally popular fighter and with fan or support base.

It will be i think Pacquiao best option.

After the fight it will be time for Manny to think of retiring. That will be again another piece. . .

Former World Boxing Council lightweight champion David Diaz believes Filipino ring idol Manny Pacqui

Former World Boxing Council lightweight champion David Diaz believes Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao, who took his title with a masterful ninth round knockout in Las Vegas last Saturday, will beat WBA super featherweight champion in a fight that Top Rank promoter Bob Arum said will take place in November with the undefeated Venezuelan moving up to 135 pounds.

In an overseas telephone conversation with Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today, Diaz said although he hadn’t seen Valero fight “my money is on Pacquiao.”

He belittled the undefeated Valero’s record of 24 knockouts in 24 wins posing the question “who has he fought?” In stark contrast Diaz said Pacquiao has fought "the greatest of Mexican fighters and has fought a lot of skilled fighters.”

Diaz added “Pacquiao has the pedigree and although I personally haven’t seen Valero fight my money is on Pacquiao.” He quickly clarified “I’m not a big betting man. No, no. no. If I bet something it will be a case of beer. That’s as high as I go.”

Diaz praised Pacquiao as “a smart fighter who did what he had to do and he’s a great champion.” In his view Pacquiao “definitely fought his best fight against me and like I said before he would come to the fight very well prepared.”

Diaz revealed there were those who said Pacquiao wouldn’t be in top condition for the fight but he had responded, “that’s nonsense. Manny Pacquiao has got history he wants to make and he’s going to train his butt off to achieve that and he did, and he did a great job to achieve that.”

Diaz added, “my hat goes off to him and my respect for him has increased tremendously.”

The former champion and ex Olympian said he was not thinking of boxing at this time saying “right now all I am thinking about is a nice, warm shower, nice blanket with my wife and spending time with my kids.” He said he had neglected his family for about a month while training for the Pacquiao fight “so its time to make up and spend time with them.”

Advised by us to go and cheer for his favorite baseball team – the Chicago Cubs – Diaz said he’ll “drink a couple of beers and watch the Cubs.”

Asked whether he plans on buying a new car Diaz said “oh yeah, we have to” but jokingly added that with the skyrocketing gasoline prices “I’m going to end up getting a bicycle.” He said he would “wait around and see what happens because I don’t have to do nothing.”

Arum, in an interview with Dennis Principe on his “Sports Chat” show over dzSR Sports Radio praised Diaz as “one of the nicest young men that I’ve ever had to promote and he was tremendously gracious in defeat and he told me after the fight that he wants to rest for the remainder of the year. He took a tremendous beating at the hands of Manny and I will start planning for him sometime. There are a lot of lightweight champions and lightweights out there that David could do very well against. Manny was just too fast and had too much stamina and energy for David to cope with. There are other fighters out there who would not present that kind of problem.”

Not bad, not bad. The Baltimore Orioles fielding phenomenon, Adam Jones, poked fun at the NFL’

Not bad, not bad. The Baltimore Orioles fielding phenomenon, Adam Jones, poked fun at the NFL's Adam 'Sans the Pacman' Jones last night. Original source (Click).

It’s time to turn the page.

So thinks Orioles center fielder and super prospect Adam Jones, who stated in a press conference yesterday that going forward he would prefer to be addressed by the nickname “Pacman.”

“It’s a perception thing,” said Jones, who has frequently been referred to by the Baltimore media as “accountable” “humble,” and “morally upstanding.” “Things just can’t keep going on like this. I’m not proud of the way I’ve behaved since breaking into the league, and the new name is meant to signify the changes I know I have to make.”

This season, Jones is the only player on the Orioles roster to play in every game, a feat largely attributable to his behavior off the field. He is known to head straight home after games, eschew alcohol in favor of fruit juice, and bring his wife and childhood sweetheart, Pamela with him on every road trip.

“It’s hard to be around him sometimes,” said teammate Aubrey Huff. “Last month after a game in Texas, I brought a stripper into the clubhouse. She was really hot, and a bunch of us broke out some body paint and were decorating her ass. Adam just kinda sat there at his locker, looking at the floor, blushing. It was really awkward.”

Becoming comfortable around strippers appears to be among Jones’s new goals. He approached a clubhouse attendant before last night’s game, asking him to cash several hundred dollar bills into ones. In between innings that night, cameras caught him in the dugout with his eyes closed, mouthing to himself.

“Usually, when I’m about to hit, I try to visualize the at-bat, what the pitcher is going to throw me and how I can respond, Jones said.” Last night, I was just trying to ignore the game and picture myself in the strip club later. I just kept saying ‘I will make it rain…I will make it rain…I will make it rain.’ Adam Jones would worry about whether or not he was going to see a fastball or curveball with a 1-1 count. Pacman Jones worries about how good he’s gonna look in his new clothes, and how much love the ladies are gonna throw his way at the club.”

Financial documents also indicate that Jones’s commitment to change isn’t just talk. He’s already begun funneling funds from personal charity, Pacman’s Posse (formerly Adam’s Army), an organization meant to provide baseball equipment to underprivileged youth in his hometown of San Diego, into his personal bank account. In addition, he has stopped reporting all memorabilia income on his federal taxes.

Jones apologized that he did not have time to fully address his new monetary developments, saying he was already late to meet a guy in an alley to buy an illicit firearm.

As he left the Orioles stadium, he was approached by a young fan looking for an autograph. Out of habit, Jones stopped, dropped down on one knee to address the youngster and began to feeling his pockets for a pen. Midway through the encounter however, he caught himself repeating old habits. Jones immediately leapt to his feet and began storm away, turning back only after he was at a safe distance to snarl, “kid, stay the hell away from Pacman!”

The devastating win of Filipino ring gladiator Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao against the badly

The devastating win of Filipino ring gladiator Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao against the badly beaten and dethrone Mexican- American David Diaz again will resurrect the question is manny pacquiao now the greatest boxer of all times the Philippines ever produced?

Before the entry of Pacman, it was no doubt the Gabriel "Flash Elorde was considered and almost handsdown choice of many especially our boxing analysts and scholars.

Even when Pacquiao began showing what stuff he was made of.

His meteorically climb to become one of the most exciting fighter of his generation did not move many of the Elorde believers.

More so when some of Pacman's outside the ring activities were being expose to tri-media and his humiliating loss in his first political try in 2007.

The once poor boy from General Santos City however elected to make some changes and move to the better and proper direction.

Pacman eventually upped even his boxing popularity and even further improved his boxing prowess as shown by his wins against future hall of Famers Mexicans Erick "El Terrible" Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera and juan manuel marquez.

His marquez split decision victory set him up to the Diaz fight many thought will be a very crucial fight.

One his last victory was clouded because of the close decision which could have gone neither way.

He is moving up to higher division which is clear five pounds up.

His devastating performance where his showing is considered by his renown trainer Freddie Roach as his best performance ever erase all doubts about his capacities and what is made up as a boxer.

Pacquiao justified is current billing as the best pound for pound boxer today.

He holds now the distinction of the only Filipino fighter to ever win the lightweight belt.

Lastly as the first Asian fighter ever to win four boxing belts in four different divisions.

Pacquiao really has gone a long way and currently the top world boxer undoubtedly.

All of these praises and accolades of Pacquiao did not seem to affect him as he remains humble and true to himself which in my view is even more remarkable.

This can easily be attested by the countless media interviews that he accommodates and still show signs that his feet are well planted to the ground.

From my end I have no doubt that Pacquiao was ever future holds him is now the greatest Filipino fighter of all time.

More so he could contend himself even the Asian best produced boxer.

(the above post is my humble opinion as a sport fanatic and a boxing fan)

It is a proven fact that time flies fast. Days would turn into weeks, weeks into months, months into

It is a proven fact that time flies fast. Days would turn into weeks, weeks into months, months into a year. And true enough, the first half of the year just passed by. The thirty days of June which seemed too long by looking at it on the calendar went by just like an overnight visitor. So here I am again, doing a recap on how my month shaped up. Enumerating personal events, things and personalities that made a mark for the month of June.

Wedding bells again. And this time it was two of my friends, a barkada of mine Rhey and our college classmate Roselyn. They are the first of the two of our college couples who got married, and what made it extra special was the date. It was the 7th of June 2008 or 06-07-08! That day actually turned up to be a triple celebration, because it was a joint wedding and christening of their baby Riley Adriel, and it sort of became a college reunion for some of us. We had a lot of fun catching up with old friends and hoped to attend another wedding before the year ends (guess who?haha!).

Online movies. It wasn't until this month that I learned or tried watching movies online. And I liked it! The first ever I got to watch was Dekada '70, after reading the novel. And since the first site I checked out mostly had Tagalog uploads, I also got to watch Ouija with the twins and A Love Story with a friend. Just recently, I watched Kung Fu Panda over at watch-movies.net (which I really really loved!), and also a 1995 Leonardo DiCaprio film Total Eclipse. I hope I can watch some more, the ones that are really difficult to find a dvd copy of.

MV Princess of the Stars Tragedy. June 21, 2008 can probably make it to history books as a 23, 824-tonne commercial ferry which reportedly had around 800 passengers, capsized off the coast of San Fernando, Romblon at the height of typhoon Frank/Fengshen. It was on its way to Cebu City at about 11:45am when it happened, according to a survivor. Only around 40 survived and majority were said to have drowned with the ship. Rescue operations are still on going, and it was later found out that the ship carried some certain chemicals which may affect the marine life. Families of passengers are still devastated as they might not see their lovedones anymore. What happened was really heartbreaking. It is indeed very very hard to lose your lovedones in a tragic way. Let's just hope and pray that this won't happen again.

Pacquiao Victory! Ok, I won't end this entry with a tragedy so might as well conclude on Manny Pacquiao's recent triumph. It was indeed another victorious day for the entire Philippines as our People's Champ won against David Diaz by KnockOut last June 29. Because of this, Pacquiao became the very first Asian to win four World Championship titles on different divisions. These are Super Flyweight, Super Bantamweight, Flyweight, and the one he just snatched off Diaz, the Lightweight title. It was an amazing fight! All rounds were dominated by Pacman, that's why I was a bit surprised Diaz still managed to last until Round 9. Aside from the knockout scene, my most favorite part was when Manny checked out David after being knockedout, and attempted to help him. The first time Pacman did that to his opponent because according to him, he felt that David is a nice guy unlike the other ones he fought with. It was one of those time you'd go "Aaaaww.." Congratulations Pacquiao!

Those are the events, stuff I got busy with and personalities that shaped up my June. Until next month! ;)

Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao is the new title holder of WBC Lightweight Division after beating David " Dangerous" Diaz yesterday. After the fight David was very proud of our legendary boxer. Manny's speed and movement in the ring amazed him so much. A press conference happened right after the event but Diaz was not seen too long because he needed to rest. The doctor will have to take care of the damages on his face.

I can feel the mexican boxer's sincerity while talking and appreciating Manny. David Diaz showed his respect for Manny after they had changed their clothes.

Since the moment I met Manny in person I'd been tracking all his boxing events. My entire family is certified a fan of Pacman. Even my lola admire and love this amazing boxer from Mindanao.

The Pacman has always been impressive, but last night he took it to a new level in my eyes. I don't care what anyone says, David Diaz is no slouch, he's tough as hell, and he's bigger and stronger than most of the fighters Manny has previously faced.

Pacquiao's performance can be summed up in three words, speed, speed, and speed. His speed was just incredible. Really, the whole package was incredible. Manny has it all, blazing speed, power, great footwork and head movement, and pretty much anything else you need to be a world class boxer. The Pacman is one of the elites in boxing to be sure, maybe one of the best ever, and on top of it he's a classy guy too.

Diaz has nothing to be ashamed of either. Even though he was totally out-classed as far as skill goes, he showed tremendous heart to take that kind of beating and frustration and still keep coming. The guy has no quit in him, period.

Overall, I'd say it was a very entertaining, though one-sided fight. Normally, fights this one-sided are not very entertaining, but Manny's performance was just so impressive, it didn't matter.

I thought Diaz would only last 7 rounds max against the highly skilled Manny Pacquiao but I was wron

I thought Diaz would only last 7 rounds max against the highly skilled Manny Pacquiao but I was wrong as the gutty fighter from Chicago lasted 9 rounds before kissing the canvas. Many pundits of the boxing community predicted Manny to finish Diaz by the 8th round but nobody thought that the fight would be very one sided as this is the first time The People's Champ is fighting in lightweight against a naturally bigger opponent.

A complete boxer, slugger, warrior and strategist version of the Pacman showed up yesterday and showed the whole world how compelling the sport of boxing can be at it's highest level with its best boxer out there. A complete domination from the opening round until the time referee Drakulich stopped the fight without even counting to ten.

Kudos to Manny for his best disciplined fight ever. Kudos to Freddie Roach and the rest of the training staffs as they get Manny to follow their magnificent game plan.

Manny will be singing tonight in N'awlins without so much of a bruise :)

Mabuhay ka Manny!
