The world has lost Randy Pausch. Temporarily.

The world has lost Randy Pausch. Temporarily.

The Carnegie Mellon prof who gained acclaim and then wrote a best-selling book about dying of cancer has passed away in the last few hours. He was 47.

His story is particularly touching to me because he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at precisely the time that my wife was initially diagnosed with the same illness. Our initial scans showed a mass on her pancreas and a number of spots that looked liked metastasized tumors on her liver. We spent several weeks contemplating the possibility that Beth would be gone within 3 months to a year, just like Randy's family.

Thankfully for us, when we went to the Mayo clinic a more focused scan revealed that the local doctors had seen false positives. But the confrontation with death left us with a deeper sympathy and deeper sense of purpose for living well and loving much.

Randy's response is bittersweet to say the least. While we admire his refusal to whine or complain, we cannot help but ask why death happens, and what the purpose of human life might be, if there is one at all.

For myself, times like this make me embarrassed to have to identify with the Christian community... because the dark side of orthodoxy is that people like Randy are "lost"... a euphemism for an eternal destiny of hopeless, conscious torment "in the hands of an angry God."

Randy chooses to be satisfied with the amount of life he has enjoyed. He is thankful for his parents, thankful for his job, thankful for his family and the many dreams he has been able to achieve. But the ugliness of Calvinist or even Arminian theology casts the darkest of shadows on every life, no matter how well lived, which does not end with the unqualified acceptance of their Molechian concept of deity.

I am crying right now, in grief for Randy's wife, his kids, his many friends and colleagues, his students. What a great man he was. But I am also deeply happy, because the Bible is so crystal clear, so brightly unambiguous, that orthodoxy is dead wrong and doomed to full disclosure and embarrassment; and that Randy has not delivered his last lecture. Randy will be back ... with songs, with joy, with the same humility and fun-loving spirit that he carried into the grave.

The karma of Randy is far closer to the truth than all the brimstone claptrap of the Christian establishment. They can wring their hands about Oprah all they want... but Oprah has more sense about what's fair and what ought to be than any orthodox theologian I have ever met. The Bible, and the love of God, backs her up.

The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne is a book I skimmed and put back down at the Bookstore. It's got a catchy title, one that just begs you to open the faux leather copy and to pore through the faux parchment pages, but alas, I found nothing there that seemed to be new. The Secret boils down to "Want anything bad enough and it will come true in mysterious ways". This is in a lot of "self help" books, and it is called "The Law of Attraction".

Most responsible self help books - and anyone that has a few years on them - will tell you that sometimes, wanting, no matter how much, isn't going to cure your Dad's alzheimers, your sister's cancer, your daughter's stutter. These things CAN be cured or dealt with, but before anything can happen, you gotta want it, but wanting alone it isn't always enough. It reminds me of the old lottery joke:

Morty, a deeply religious man, had long prayed to win the lottery to get him out of financial trouble. He prayed to God every night to win, even as things got worse and worse. After loxing his job, his car and with his wife about to leave him, he prayed one last time. "God, please, I'm in trouble. I lost my job, my car, and I'm about to lose my family. PLEASE God, let me win the lottery."

Suddenly God Himself appeared before Morty, long beard, white hair, deep voice, shining light, the works. Morty said "God, you're here! Does this mean I'm going to win the lottery? God said, pleadingly "Morty, meet me halfway on this. Buy a ticket."

My advice? Know what you want, be open to getting want you want in more than one way, and then ACT to get what you want, with the faith that you'll get it. Anyway, these Scathing Book Reviews of The Secret think one Secret to success is to not read the book:

The following information can be found in either of my books: Hot and Cold Health (c) 2003, revised 2008, and Hot and Cold Diseases (c) 2008 and is based on traditional Chinese (TCM) and Ayurvedic medicines, both 5,000+ years old and widely practiced but not scientifically recognized by Western allopathic medicine. I was a licensed Acupuncture Physician (FL 1992-2002). Most of my practice was based on diet, herbs, exercise, sexual moderation, etc. and not on needles, although I am a big fan of Miriam Lee OMD (Google Bob Flaws, Blue Poppy Press).

The body is more or less a living machine that builds up and breaks down. Like any balance of opposites, one opposite (male or female, anabolism or catabolism, hot or cold, dry or wet, etc.) one opposite is always in excess, i.e. dominant. Life is more building than cleansing (breaking down). It builds up and breaks down primarily according to food, nutrients, to which there are only two: building and cleansing.

Building nutrients, foods (protein, fat, meat, eggs, chicken, cheese, bans, etc.) build, thicken, fuel and heat. Cleansing nutrients, foods (water, minerals, sugar, fruit, vegetables, grains, etc.) reduce, cleanse, cool and moisten.

The body is more building, heating than cleansing, cooling. Normal body temperature is 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit. It measure energy, heat production require to sustain the body mind. Above or below that temperature, in the extreme, tends to disrupt, sicken the body mind via too much (greater than 98.6) or too little (less than 98.6) energy, heat.

The body mind heats up and cools down internally (food, digestion, circulation, respiration, elimination, etc.) and externally (climate).

Too many building foods, nutrients, over the course of time, years, tends to overbuild and thicken the body (intestines, liver, heart, arteries, etc.) with excess protein and fat (includes oil, cholesterol, etc.). This excess protein and fat, excess weight, acts like clothing that is one pound, ten pounds, twenty pounds, etc. too thick.

If you are an overweight person, suffering from summer end, then you need to eat less. Eating less is the first answer to withstanding the summer heat, along with shade and less, thin clothing. There is only so much clothing that you can take off. Fortunately, you do have excess, internal clothing, that you can also take off, as long as you can eat less, and enjoy the experience an empty stomach by spacing and or reducing the number of meals from three to two.

Eating less does not mean starving yourself. it means eating less, smaller meals. Eating less can mean eating only one serving per meal, if you are the type that goes back for seconds and thirds. Eating less can mean skipping breakfast or eating just a light breakfast: toast, jelly and tea. Eating less can mean eating a strong, big breakfast (vegetable omelet, toast, jelly, tea or chicken, rice, vegetables, and fruit) and a late, smaller lunch. It all depends on where you are coming from.

And also where you are going. Spring and summer temperatures in the 70's are called ambient, pleasing to the human body. Above or below the seventies tends to overwork, displease the body, forcing it to work faster (hotter) or slower (colder).

Eating food, especially protein and fat, tends to heat the body.

Digestion (acid, enzymes, protein, fat) tends to heat the body.

Smaller meals (less protein, fat, quantity) reduce heat, body temperature.

Too little protein and fat, in excess, for those who are thin, and or weak, can also cause the body to easily overheat as well as (lose) perspire sweat.

The ideal meal, especially breakfast (best time energetically to digest) is not only 1/3 protein and fat, 1/3 grain, 1/3 cooked, raw vegetables, fruit but also spices.

Spices (cardamon, cumin, coriander, fennel, ginger, cayenne, cinnamon, turmeric, peppermint, etc.) increase digestion, sweating (and the subsequent cooling), urination and has oils that are noxious to many bacteria, fungi, viruses and mosquitoes.

Mosquitoes, like many insects are attracted to smell, especially the sweet smell. Blood is very sweet in taste and smell. Women have more blood than men. Mosquito are more attracted to women than men. Mosquitoes are more attracted to perfumes, also explaining their attraction for women, although men also wear colognes, perfumes but not to the same extent, extreme.

Mosquitoes do not like the smell of peppermint, cayenne, fennel, etc. It is no different from termites. I once asked a farmer how he dealt with termites. His farm, barn, etc where in western Pennsylvania. He said he used cedar chips, spread them around the barn, because termites couldn't stand the smell, He never had any problems with termites.

Body odor attracts and repels mosquito, flies, people, etc. The sweet smell (blood, sugar, ice cream, cookies, candy, etc.) attracts mosquitoes. The smell of peppermint, cumin, fennel, etc. repels them.

Spices are generally used in cooking (boiling, baking, soups, stews, etc.). They help reduce bloating, gas and loose stools, diarrhea.

Eating big and late dinners (after 7 p.M.) tends to overheat, overbuild the body.

Eating smaller meals, but more often, in the extreme, tends to overwork the digestive system.

Check with your doctor before making any changes in the way you eat.

Drink when you are thirsty.

How often do we stop to really think things over, sure if it’s something we are going to spend a l

How often do we stop to really think things over, sure if it’s something we are going to spend a lot of money on like a car or a house we will take our time but if it’s just a small thing like are we going to eat that whole basket of fries or just half we often times let the moment decide.

We are an impulse people, that’s why the advertisers love us, we see it, we want it. Go in to any store and they will have signs all over the place, each one designed to make you spend more then you want to. My sister and I joke that if she goes in to Target and spends under $100.00 she is doing good, and for me if I go in to the dollar store and spent under $20.00 I am doing good. She didn’t really need all she got nor did I, but we are impulse shoppers, the both of us. We are a marketers dream come true.

Why do I bring this up? What does this have to do with change? Well The idea is, we don’t spend the time we really need to on thinking, we need to stop before we purchase and really think about do we really need this? We also need to do the same with our lives, we need to stop and think more.

Often times we do things in our lives on impulse, we go out, get drunk on an impulse. We get married or divorced on an impulse. We pick up one face self help book or diet on an impulse. No real thinking involved, we just do it.

Life change is not an impulse it is a slow thought out process, one that takes dedication and lots of hard work. Fads and impulses are not the cure; you will not find what you are looking for based on a quick reaction, or the latest book. Change is deeply rooted in you; it has to become your fabric of life, your mantra. Impulses are not mantras they are slick advertisements designed only to take not to give.

So stop the next time you are about to make a life change (diet, self help book) and really think about it, is this something that I can really make part of my life fabric or is this something I saw on Oprah. Life change is not a 30 minute TV show; it is a commitment of self for self for life.

The growing motivation among millions of young social networking junkies, including myself, to post pictures and details of all the fun we are having in life may eventually cause us more harm than good as we age and move further into our professional lives.

Reading the article entitled Facebook Never Forgets as posted on our class Del.icio.us feed summoned me to think more carefully about how freely I may decide to post pictures of myself partying, running around in short skirts with beer in my hand or even sitting seductively on the lap of a “special friend”. These are simple fun activities, which remain relatively harmless until the wrong eyes look at them, at the wrong time.

Sure, I have absolutely NO intention what so ever to ever run for President or any political office for that matter, but I do have other personal and professional aspirations planned for myself. It doesn't mean much right now, but having the wrong picture of me saved to the wrong persons hard drive could make for a pretty sticky situation in the future. At the very least, I may have to end up doing some explaining to someone I’d rather not have to do any explaining to about why I felt the need to take a picture bent over with my hand on my behind or my middle finger up (which, by the way, I honestly have not done in at least 10 years now).

The point the article makes is that the Internet has a viciously long memory...a lot longer than most humans. Therefore, it might be worth taking some extra consideration and precautions in everything you say/post onto social networking platforms such as Facebook, MySpace or even you own Blog.

My dream is to either one day attend or be a guest of The Oprah Show. I really look up to and respect Oprah. I am sure attending her show will not be hard for me to accomplish as long as I am willing to get on a year-long waiting list for tickets, fly to Chicago and stand on an insanely long line for hours. However, actually getting ON The Oprah Show as a guest is going to take a little more ingenuity on my part, but I have ideas on how I might go about making that happen (which I will keep to myself right now). However, how likely is Oprah going to be willing to interview me on her highly acclaimed talk show if her researchers forward her a link to some old blog I wrote about me baring my “hoo-ha's” during an innocent Mardi Gras bachelorette weekend with my girlfriends? How seriously could she (Oprah) or any one else, like potential investors, really take me after reading something like that?

The internets’ “free-for-all gossip culture”, though currently serving as a GREAT entertainment and networking feature for me NOW, could quite possibly come back and bite me in the “hoo-ha” later if I am not more careful, selective and discriminating.

Come to think of it…..maybe, I could just settle for being an audience member on The Oprah Show instead. Yes, maybe that will do just fine.

Three Steps

These three steps are the foundation for the Law of
Attraction. Whether we realize it or not, the Law is
always working. Positive attracting positive and
negative attracting negative. Therefore skipping
steps, may cause results that differ greatly from what
you intended. Know what you desire and ask for it

Knowing what you want isn't as easy as it sounds.
Aside from the basic physical needs, your mind is
filled with wants, desires and fears. Conscious and
unconscious.

You need to know why you want the things you want.
Maybe what you really want, isn't what you’re asking
for at all. The conscious thoughts produce the same
amount of energy as the unconscious ones. And if
they're contrary to one another, you're defeating
yourself.

Believe that what you desire is already yours

Visualizing you having already achieved your desire is
an important step. It's the "positive thinking" step.
Focusing on having it will create positive energy. The
completion of your desire is a result of this positive
energy.

Receive

This step is the one where so many people lose it.
It's the completion of your desire. Allow yourself to
acknowledge your right to have your wishes fulfilled.

For many accepting this is the hardest part. If you
consciously or unconsciously feel you don't deserve
what you're asking for, you won't get it. If you don't
believe you're worthy of having your desires come
true, they never will.

As anyone can tell you, I don't embarrass easy. My boobs frequently pop out to say "hello", I trip all the time, my lack of geographical knowledge is legendary and so on and so forth...

However, I was embarrassed recently (and continue to blush when I think about it) because of an occasion where I met a few rather accomplished people. During this evening, where I drank far too much, I blabbed on about music and what I do and my relatively small achievements. They were, of course, very gracious and barely spoke at all about what they do, have done.

I didn't find out until later just how much they've done and how celebrated they are. And so it makes me feel small and ridiculous and like a little kid who has to show off how smart she is (Did you know the human brain weighs 8 lbs? Or something like that...) Again, my cheeks are getting hot just thinking about this night.

I suppose a little embarrassment never hurt anybody. But I wonder what that emotion is really about when it comes down to it? Shame? Guilt? Insecurity? Sensitivity? Because I imagine if you're an insensitive person, you wouldn't get embarrassed by much. And then there's that whole other thing of being embarrassed by other people's behavior.

If you're a very secure person, do you just never get embarrassed? Is Will Smith embarrassment-free? How about Oprah? The Dalai Lama?

Anyway, that is my embarrassing moment of the month (or maybe even year!) Lord, I hope my breasts spill out during a senior citizen Church ceremony or something, just so I can get over this...

We all work with one infinite power. We all guide ourselves by exactly the same laws. The natural laws of the universe are so precise that we don't have any difficulty building spaceships, we can send people to the moon and we can time the landing with the precision of a fraction of a second.

Wherever you are - India, Australia, New Zealand, Stockholm, London, Toronto, Montreal, or New York - we're all working with one power. One law. It's the Law of Attraction!

Everything that's coming into your life you are attracting into your life. And it's attracted by virtue of the images you're holding in your mind. It's what you're thinking. Whatever is going on in your mind you are attracting to you.

Of course not - and neither is his chief apostle Oprah (but I've already covered that).

I'm taking a moment to interupt the conversation on reformed theology in the black community because I read an interesting article from Christianity Today magazine. The article took a closer look at the new-age warlock Tolle from a Christian perspective:

Nothing New

Popular spiritual author and Oprah favorite Eckhart Tolle quotes Jesus a lot. Is he a Christian?

James A. Beverly | posted 7/23/2008 09:50AM

Oprah Winfrey's recent promotion of Eckhart Tolle has put the German-born author's latest work, A New Earth, on the bestseller lists with the largest reprint run in the history of Penguin Books. Tolle, in turn, has given Oprah a new sense of purpose. She calls her work with him the most important and exciting thing she has ever done. This spring she hosted 10 Monday-night web seminars with him. As many as one million people watched them live, and 27 million more downloaded them afterward.

Tolle claims no specific religion and states that his teaching fits with the essence of all spiritual paths. While he quotes freely from Jesus, Buddha, and others, he focuses on the divinity in all beings. "How 'spiritual' you are has nothing to do with what you believe but everything to do with your state of consciousness," he writes in A New Earth.

Click the title to read the article in it's entirety. James Beverly (the writer) goes on to discuss that although Tolle may quote Christ's words (even the Devil quoted scripture to Christ, remember Matthew 4:1-11?), he mixes Hinduism, Buddhism, and various tenets of New Age garbage. Come to think of it, maybe this is what attracted Oprah to him in the first place.

Anyway, Beverly closes the article with an interesting observation:

For Tolle, ascribing any unique significance to Jesus of Nazareth is ultimately wrong-headed. The Power of Now states: "Never personalize Christ. Don't make Christ into a form identity. Avatars, divine mothers, enlightened masters, the very few that are real, are not special as persons." In Tolle's system, "Jesus" is little more than a cipher for "awakened consciousness." The particular God-man Jesus and his saving acts in history are of no concern to Tolle. In fact, Jesus only becomes "the way" when the crucified, risen, and exalted Lord of history is put aside.

At least Tolle is playing his role well - what else would we expect from someone who can't accept the Deity of Christ or that He is the Only Begotten Son of God the Father?

Whenever I read of the latest New Age philosophical garbage, I'm reminded of Paul's sermon on Mars Hill - specifically addressing the "religious philosophers" of his day. Read Acts 17 for the full context, but take a look at the overarching statement:

Acts 17:22-23 (New American Standard Bible)

22 So Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, "Men of (A)Athens, I observe that you are very (B)religious in all respects.

23 "For while I was passing through and examining the (C)objects of your worship, I also found an altar with this inscription, 'TO AN UNKNOWN GOD ' Therefore what (D)you worship in ignorance, this I proclaim to you.

And Paul goes on to explain the consequences of mixing God with all other manner of "religion" and philosophy:

Acts 17:30-31 (New American Standard Bible)

30 "Therefore having (A)overlooked (B)the times of ignorance, God is (C)now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent,

31 because He has fixed (D)a day in which (E)He will judge (F)the world in righteousness through a Man whom He has (G)appointed, having furnished proof to all men by (H)raising Him from the dead."

Yet more evidence that every biblically sound Christian should avoid Oprah...and ANYBODY that she recommends.

Well, it's day 3 of my summer vacation at home and I've:

Made a "to do" list that I accomplish before noon, leaving me with way too much time to think

Convinced myself that my dog does have a soul and have used it as justification to dress him up in the future (and also talk to him about Jesus Christ)

Watched Oprah and Dr. Phil and decided to get "excited about [my] life" (but really I want to watch other people's train wrecks and, subsequent, smack-downs by rich talk show hosts with everything to prove)

Become a slave to diet pepsi and become bff with the owner of my local convenience store - he can cut my keys and do my dry cleaning!

Decide that if I don't record my daily activities I'll have nothing to show for the rest of the summer

*z = extra fun

The seeming promise of success literature to its readers is "Read the book, and your life will change", where in fact, the writer's message is, "read this and do as the book says and then your life can change".

All too often, the only thing that actually changes is the money, from the reader to the bookstore. I've read my fair share of "success" book, and the ones that tend to be the most beneficial are the ones that tell you to know what you want, figure out how to get what you want, build a plan, and then CARRY IT OUT! It's the last part that tends to trip us all up.

Oprah Winfrey thinks this book is worth buying, but I ask you, can you really trust a guy named "Eckhart" to offer good advice? These Scathing Book Reviews of A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose, by Eckhart Tolle make it their purpose to convince you to not buy the book:

The following info is based on traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic Medicines, in addition to Western m

The following info is based on traditional Chinese and Ayurvedic Medicines, in addition to Western medicine, nutrition. I was a licensed Acupuncture Physician (FL 1992-2002).

Yes and no. Yes, we need them, and no, we do not need all of them.

It would be great if all we needed was food to not only build health but also cure disease. Unfortunately, that is not the case. Herbs, nutritional supplements, pharmaceutical drugs, etc. do not replace food. They supplement.

You can not replace good dietary habits, food with pills, powders, etc.

You have to cook daily, eat freshly prepared vegetables, grains, beans, fruit, etc. in addition to your choice of protein and fat (animal, foul, dairy, plant, etc.), two to three times a day, preferably breakfast and lunch.

If you are not doing this but instead eating salads, yogurt, cottage cheese, fruit, nuts, seeds, grains, pasta, smoothies, shakes, etc. then no amount of any supplement will help you until you reign in your diet first (more info: Hot and Cold Health by the author). After, you can add the supplements, herbs, drugs, etc. to further enhance your health, fight disease. Diet is the first step. All other steps have diet as their foundation. you don't build blood with iron supplements. You build, thicken blood by eating animal (includes fowl, eggs, fish, dairy, etc.) foods. You reduce, thin your blood, arteries, cholesterol, etc. by eating less, avoiding animal foods, especially red meat.

If you are not doing this but instead little or no breakfast, coffee, toast, jelly, pastry, steak sub, chicken burrito, pizza, lasagna, French fries, potato chips, salad, beer, soda, late dinner, etc. then no amount of any supplement will help you, until you first change diet.

Most disease is caused by poor diet (too building or too cleansing). I've questioned and counseled 30,000+ always asking the same same question, over and over (see my bio). "What do you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?"

Most, if not all were eating too building or too cleansing; thereby developing symptoms, diseases, that were too building, overbuilt (high cholesterol, high blood pressure, arteriosclerosis, cirrhosis, gout, psoriasis, tumors, cancer, etc.) or too cleansing, under built (bloating, loose stools, edema, cellulite, thin skin, hair and nails, anemia, fatigue, amenorrhea, infertility, miscarriage, sort term pregnancy, frigidity, auto immune, eczema, osteoporosis, depression, fear, etc.).

Most were taking supplements, herbs, etc. that, in some cases, were too building (hot, dry, etc.) or too cleansing (cold, watery, etc.) relative to their condition.

Herbs, supplements do not replace food.

They can pharmacologically be used in the treatment of disease, including prevention. Vitamin C, in mega doses has been found to cure the common cold, at its onset as have hot, spicy soups, good diets, plenty of protein and fat, exercise, etc. Weight gain powders for teenagers can be difficult because of raging hormones, especially testosterone, which is the ultimate fat burner.

There are no pills, powders, etc. that adequately replace fruits and vegetables. You have to eat them daily, two to three times.

It all depends on how serious you are. If you are serious, you will make diet your main focus, and not supplements, herbs, etc. Herbs and other whole food (seeds, nuts, etc.). supplements can then be used effectively once one has undertaken (a) good diet for some period of time and (b) studied biology, diet, nutrition and herbs, which is why I wrote my books.

It's been three weeks since his/her blue-eyed baby debuted in this world, but Thomas Beatie – better known around the world as the Pregnant Man – can already say this about his daughter's personality: "She's easygoing and mellow and intelligent."

On June 29 at 8:55 p.m., Beatie, 34, a former female beauty pageant contestant, made cultural history as perhaps the first legally transgender male to give birth, bringing into the world a 9 lbs., 5 oz. baby girl named Susan Juliette.

No matter what this child will have SERIOUS issues - I don't care how far in acceptance we'll come by the time she's of age!!

Oprah Winfrey exposed Rhonda Byrne's secret, showing how your goals can be achieved. Let's simplify it: everything you you can learn about The Secret & the Law of Attraction.

The law of attraction is one of the most important secret by Rhonda Byrne that was mentioned on the Oprah Show. The Secret movie about the attraction and the various courses it can take. The movie is extremely compelling, dramatic - and at times very funny!

The Secret and the Law of Attraction

As stated in the Secret, which was featured on the Oprah program, the law of attraction is the basis of how we make our lives for ourselves. Debt, negativity, failure will attract more of itself. This is the Law of Attraction. On the otherside, fortune, positive energies, and prosperity attracts more of itself.

Likes attract likes. In The Secret on the Oprah show, this is true for our thoughts and feelings attracting that which is like our current state. The decisions we make is what forms our destiny. What the law of attraction ("The Secret") tells us is that mental states drive physical actions and decisions; all of these work together to move your life in a specific way. If you bring into focus that which you want, it will come to you. Where you are going instead of right now is a great example of making good decision. The Secret, as featured on the Oprah program, shows how making a vision bulletin board is a sensible, efficient method of attaining what you desire.

Our feelings and the attention that affects on how we fell is one way to send a wave into the universe. Oprah has discovered that an item is brought to us when it vibrates in a very similar way. There is a growth in your area of focus. Is it well understood that "Misery loves Company"? Energy is directed where you focus your attention.

More on the 7 Laws Of Attraction

Different Wavelengths: The secret on the Oprah Show.

Most relationships fail when a couple is not on a same wavelength. If you don't attain your desired goal, you might have to recheck your beliefs, plans and actions, because they might not occupy the same wavelegths. Energy and wavelengths was discussed as one of the secrets of the Oprah Winfrey Show.

The Secret on Oprah: Attention Moves in the Direction of Energy

What you think as well as what you do influences the direction of the stream of energy. A thought can be perceived as being one measurable unit of mental energy which has consequences on all aspects of your life. When you are generate feelings of love and gratitude a better flow will occur in your life, this is according to the secret. An enormous part of this is gratitude: without this essential "magnetic" force of the cosmos, you cannot bring anything new into your life.

According to The Secret, there are no coincidences in the universe. All things respond and react by law and principals.
The totality of events in your life, positive and negative, are due to the forces of attraction which you create. One would be surprised to realize just how much the energy the emit effects who is drawn to them.

Your unconscious orders to the universe: The secret on the Oprah show unconscious feelings includes fears, doubts and worries. A greater understanding of ones self is a significant sign of spiritual growth. Whether or not you are aware of it, you are consciously and unconsciously requesting orders from the universe, and you will eventually receive everything that you order.

For instance, if you continuously say to yourself that you'll never pay off your credit cards, then your credit card debt will remain with you for the rest of your life. The message of "The Secret" is that you need devote your mental energy to becoming financially free and having a deep love for what you do with your life. Naturally, you'll have to first decide what it is you desire.

How your language Rules your life: The Secret on the Oprah Show.

Saving terms like, " I'm surviving, "I'm hanging in there," or I've been better,"creates those negative circumstances which was revealed on the Oprah Show. If you just say things like "I'm great", or "My day is going beautifully", you will build positive images. The Secret Law of Attraction declares that you will draw toward yourself that which you hold as a belief and which you talk about.

Frustration is the anger at the difference between how the world is and how you hope it to be. True forgiveness is letting go of that anger and accepting how the world is. Realizing the gift from the horrible thing that happens, is one way to find forgiveness. What has that event taught you that can benefit you in the future? What we have learned from the Secret on the Oprah program is that the real you evoles from life experiences - whether good or bad and that these experiences mold you to who you are today. Accept that, and the path to true forgiveness is much easier - and therefore letting go of the past is that much more easier to attain.

Achieving Your Dreams: The Secret on the Oprah Show.

Letting go of something old is one way to hold on to something new. Forget about the past, your previous employment, and your outdated relationships to allow yourself to make forward progress. You gotta put down the ducky if you wanna play the saxophone. The Secret on the Oprah Winfrey Show is the motto of ask, believe and receive. Don't feel a need to force events into being, ask once and be willing to step aside and let things take their course. Have faith and be happy!

Take advantage of every day and use the valuable time towards achieving your long-held goals and dreams - because such a stretgy is key in achieving your important dreams, according to the Law of Attraction and The Secret on the Oprah television show!

I hate running. Normally I wouldn’t run unless someone was chasing me with a weapon. Unfortuna

I hate running. Normally I wouldn't run unless someone was chasing me with a weapon. Unfortunately, running is the best way to wear out Piper. Yesterday we did a 3 mile interval (running/walking) and finished up at the pond on campus. Piper was worn out enough that she got into the water, waded and swam around, and then laid down in the water. This is spectacularly unusual because Piper is 100% mutt, but enough lab that she can't resist a stick or a ball.

Oprah's doing this thing with Eckhart Tolle's book, A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose. And watching Piper in the water, halfheartedly holding a stick in her mouth but laying down in the water so I can't make her fetch it, I started thinking about this need people have for a Life's Purpose.

Piper is not a complicated animal. In fact, most animals aren't that complicated. Piper likes to chase sticks (and balls, and rabbits). When there's a stick or a frisbee nearby, Piper is completely and totally focused on it. That is the center of her existence. But when there isn't a fetching tool around, she's not MISERABLE. She doesn't lay down and heave enormous sighs, feeling bad because there's no frisbee or all. She clearly doesn't spend all of her time thinking that she needs a frisbee. She finds other things to do with her time. She enjoys having people pet her as much as she likes fetching. She likes to look out our front door and windows. She likes to lay in our bed. She loves truck surfing.

Animals don't need a Life Purpose. They are drawn to certain activities, biologically or not, but in the absence of those activities aren't depressed or unable to do other things. People are animals. I mean, a lot of people don't like to admit it but that's what we are. Mammals. Not all that different from dogs and pigs and monkeys. But people are obsessed with having this One Reason to exist. A Life's Purpose which will make everything else in life more relevant and enjoyable.

My dad was a very wise men. As with most very wise men, you don't realize how wise they are until many years after they've been wise around you. He always told me that, "No one and nothing can MAKE you happy. You have to choose to be happy because if you're not happy with yourself, no one else can be happy with you." The other wise guy in my life has this to say: "I don't go to work to get fulfilled. I go to work to make the money I need to do OTHER things I enjoy. I get my fulfillment in other places."

Nobody wakes up and thinks, "I am destined to be a telemarketer."* But for some reason, people are obsessed with finding this One Thing. I'm more likely to combine the wisdom of my guys and the lessons Piper provides. Find things you enjoy. Enjoy them. Those things will probably change over time. Don't get too worked up about those things changing. And it's okay to not love your job. It's okay not to get any fulfillment from your job. That's what the other things you enjoy are for.

The truth of the matter is that, like dogs, we don't HAVE One Purpose. Each of us is different and gets fulfillment from different things at different stages in our lives. I like practicing yoga because 1. It makes my body feel good, 2. It helps keep me in the moment, which reminds me how unimportant a lot of other things are, and 3. It calms me down and makes me feel happy. I will endeavor to keep TEACHING yoga for the rest of my life because I love being able to share those things with other people. I will probably never make a living at it and that's okay. I would also probably never have become a yoga teacher if my father hadn't died. There are things that change your path, sometimes dramatically, so to think that there's just One Thing that you're meant to do isn't just unrealistic - it's kind of silly.

Holding on to the idea that "I'm meant to do this One Thing" is a guarantee for disappointment with your life - and how much fun is that? Accept that there are things you do because you need to, there are things you do because you want to, and neither has to have some Bigger Purpose in your life.

Do what you like.

Enjoy your life because it's far too short to do anything else.

*Okay, I WAS telemarketer and I'm telling you for real that NO ONE thinks its a great job. Especially not the people who have to do it.

2. Do not drink beer and then the hard stuff. (Beer before liquor, never been sicker!!)

3. When somebody climbs on the hood of your car, don't accidentally hit the gas. Sorry Clayton. May he rest in peace.

4. Don't tell Anthony Woolstrum when you have a crush on someone. He will be sure to LOUDLY point out to you your crushes whereabouts and then continue teasing you.

5. Texas Hold 'Em is very fun and addicting.

6. If you don't want to commit to something, always say maybe. Brian LOVES this!

7. Always wear sunscreen.

8. When a dog is biting you and furiously shaking his head while your hand is still in his mouth, don't just quietly tell the dog to let go and barely tap him on the head. Punch the dog on the head with all of your might, so the dog will know to let go of your hand. Thanks Sarah, you saved my fingers!!

9. When your taller friend pulls on a tree branch, right after it rains, to have water spill all over you...don't retaliate by trying to kick (while barefoot) a water puddle onto them because you will be sure to miss that puddle and kick the taller person right in the shin...which will then cause your big toe to break. Ouch!

10. Do not give your dog a toy with stuffing in it or he will need a $3000 surgery to remove all of that stuffing from his bowels.

11. When you are going to the beach with your girlfriends, ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS look at the map before you head out...otherwise you will end up in Laredo and then your typical 4 hour drive will turn into a 10 hour drive.

12. Just because you are from Texas and can wear flip flops 365 days a year, does not mean you should wear flip flops in December in England. You will be sure to get a lot of weird looks from the Brits as you are walking in the snow, while wearing flip flops. Plus you can get borderline frostbite!! Okay, maybe you won't actually get frostbite...but it will sure feel like it!!

13. When rescuing a puppy from a wooded area behind your church, always look out for poison ivy.

14. Spider's are the devil's insect of choice.

15. Tornados are the devil's natural disaster of choice.

16. Country is the devil's music of choice.

17. Oprah is full of herself and really, really annoying.

18. When pet sitting for someone, don't let the cat pee all over the new leather/suede chair/ottoman.

19. Did I mention that Spiders are evil?

20. Don't lock your keys in the car while it is still running.

21. Don't lose three phones in the same month.

22. When involved in a car wreck, always always always get the other car's insurance information. (especially when it was their fault)

23. When buying a birthday/christmas gift for someone, don't give it to them early and then go by another one and then give that one to them early and then go by another one. Just be patient and give it to them on their actual birthday. It will save you a lot of money.

24. When walking on the jetty at the beach don't constantly joke about how it would suck if someone slipped and broke something because sure enough someone in your group who is really, really tall will slip and break her elbow at the very end of the jetty and then have to let two strangers/men guide her back to shore and then you will spend five hours in the hospital and later when you are on your way home the driver will get a ticket at three in the morning for going 5 over the speed limit.

25. When your work sends you overseas for seven months, make sure to bring documentation from your job stating the reason why you are being sent there. Otherwise you will spend 3 hours in interrogation and will hear endless threats of being put back on a plane to be sent back to the states (at your expense)...even though you just spent ten hours on a plane, without getting up from your seat once!!

26. Rhuematoid Arthritis sucks.

27. After blow drying your hair, don't stick the end of the blow dryer on your chin. It will burn you. And it will hurt something fierce!!
