We here at Random Ramblings would like to apologize for our extended vacation. While working for this publication is our main job, we do have a hobby (ie-full time job) that takes up a lot of our time.  So while we've been hobbying quite a bit lately, you have had to go without our informative insight. And for that we are truly sorry. 

So now that we got that fake apology out of the way, let us move on to the business at hand: ridding the world of politicians.  I realize that they are an easy target.  But don't we all need easy targets in our lives? Like Jack Handey (perhaps the smartest man that ever lived) said, kids need to have a good, lucky feeling. 

I suggest that we have another debate. But every time a candidate speaks poorly about the other guy, they are tasered.  This way, we actually get to hear what they think on certain issues, without them saying how stupid they think their opponent is. Plus, one of them is bound to slip up, and nothing is funnier than a politican flipping around on the floor like the fish at the end of the "Epic" video. 

It all just makes me very tired.  I can't even imagine how tired the candidates feel, though.  Countless hours on the campaign trail, saying the same rote responses, the stale speeches, the platitudes said to gain another point in the polls. I can imagine Obama waking up in a cold sweat at 2am screaming "Change! Change!" I can picture a drowsy McCain falling face first into his bowl of Frosted Flakes, gurgling "maverick" into the milk.  And I can picture me running off into the hills, to form my own commune.  We'll use hush puppies as currency, adopt the language Jodie Foster used in "Nell", and always enter a room/fire circle to the theme song of the Ultimate Warrior.

Abschliessend bleibt zu sagen...(weiterlesen)WOoooW, der Manga geht in die vollen. Team Aizen ist eingetroffen und die Elite der Soul Society versucht Aizen und seinem zwielichtigem Gefolge die Stirn zu bieten. Ich hoffe es gibt bald wieder lecker Nell Action *_*, Halibel Action *boingboing*... und...wird es neue Inormationen zu Ichigos Vater geben? der Ominöse Auftritt als Shinigami lässt drauf vermuten das er wohl mehr als nur ein Volltrottel sein muss.

Und Hisagi Shuuhei hat sein Zanpakuto gezeigt "*Kazeshini" (*Wind of Death), er entfesselt die Form aus seinem Schwert mit dem Befehl "*Karire" (*Reap). Die Waffe ist Furchteinflößemd. 2 Kama-ähnliche Waffen die an beiden Enden 2 Klingen haben die in gegengesetzte Richtungen Zeigen zusätzlich mit langen Ketten versehen ist Kazeshini ein Monstrum von Mordwerkzeug. Hisagi nutzt sie als Projektile, und es ist unmöglich für den Gegner die nächste Bewegung Kazeshinis zu erahnen.

Ok so I got some good feedback for my music box article and I am going to this this with even more enthusiasm [ if that's even possible ]. Anyway, I was asked why most of my playlist is made of Korean songs. Well it's not like I purposely planned it that way... emmm... I like diversity. Pretty much everything that this world is today is diversity. So, I I don't listen only to American or English artists that does not mean the music I listen to is not good. Nor that I am in any way weird. I just prefer variety and acknowledge the fact that the English language is not the only language on the Planet. The fact that you do not understand something, does not mean it is automatically a bad thing or of poor quality. So, readers, my few readers, open up to the fact that art in general is universal and we should try and know a little of anything, if we do not want to be called ignorant.[ of course that does not mean that ou have to also like it ; just don't dismiss it because you don't like it ].  With that in mind ...

The reason why I put this together is because they are all about the same genre and message. I love is a very sweet song with an equally sweet video. And you'll probably going to say, all the songs are sweet, but this one makes more sense if you watch the video and listen to the actual tune. It's very relaxing with some piano sounds in the background and simple, loveable lines to make it even more positive and romantic.Here is the video, which you can easily access in HQ on youtube and I'll post the English lyrics as well under the video:

Now, "Flower Pot" is the song that put Alex on the map as a solo singer.It's quite touching and very poetic, but it was originally sung by the band Loveholic. They are a rock band that split after the lead singer Ji Sun left to pursue a solo career. You can still find her in many Epik High songs, including their title song "One" from the the latest album. Here is the video, the original version, and I highly recommend this one for those who are not familiar with Korean music. It's very very impressing how the feelings come across without even understanding the lyrics:

This is a song I just recently found and I really don’t know what else to says except is has a good beat, a lovely piano tune and displays very good rapping skills. Wonder why it made it to my top favorites ? Well I listened to it once about 2 weeks ago and have been humming it ever since. It’s catchy is a non 50 Cent, slutty, meaningless kinda way . So enjoy !

♥ Time walking on memories and Getting further - Nell ( 3 and 4 )

Like I said, Nell are poets and my words won’t do these 2 songs any justice. They speak from heart to heart so listen while watching the videos . I case you haven’t notices until know, most of the songs here are slow paced, fairly romantic or poetic, so they cater to a certain type of taste. I’m sorry that I can’t please you all, but I trust that at least a part of you will find the tracks I select soothing and inspiring. It helps to think about spring, rain and fields when you listen to Nell. I find it’s the only way you can truly find the source of the beauty behind their complex lyrics and melodies.

I don’t know much about the band and it’s the only song I have from their album(s). Found it while I was watching the HBO documentary “Thinking XXX” [ which is btw really fun to watch ]. The song is totally not my type and I loves it !!! [ yes the “s” is on purpose ]. ♥ Miles Away – Madonna

I love Madonna. I can’t pin point exactly the reason, but she has had a great career and I love the fact that she lasted for sooo long all the while being on top every time she releases a single. Although I wouldn’t listen to all her songs, some of my favorites include :”Crazy about you”, “Frozen”, “Vogue” and “Justify my love”. “Miles away” is a slow paced guitar track with acceptable lyrics, but that are very relatable to in our day and time. It’s definitely a nice track to have and store on your iPod and listen from time to time.

♥ When you tell me that you love me – Dolly Parton and Julio Iglesias

side note : that Jasmine chick reminds me of Kim Kardashian  or however you spell her name . And that just spoils it all ...

I am fully aware how ridiculous it is for an 18 year old high school girl to like and actually enjoy this song, but I simply can’t help myself. I know it’s cheesy and the lyrics are oh so generic in comparison to the other stuff I normally enjoy, but the song reminds me of the Disney themes that play when the princess and prince kiss at the end of the movie. It’s just way to cheesy not to adore lol. So give it a listen, perhaps you’ll also like it and join the dark side, or maybe you won’t and I give you the permission to mock me forever.

♥ Don’t look back in anger – Oasis

If you’ve never heard of it, then you should have and there’s no excuse. This is the kind of song you listen when you’re 16 and have a rebel heart. I’m 18 going strongly on 12, so my rebel days are over, but the song still rocks every time I hear it. And I make sure it’s always in my top 25 most played. Viva Oasis !

♥ Summetime – Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong

Classic, do not bash it and you have to like it, unless you can do better , which pretty up there near impossible. Ok, joke aside. The whole album is worth listening to, if not for the music [ which would be hard to believe ], but for the cultural aspect of the album. It’s obviously part of universal music history and America’s history so it’s pretty important to know that these are the two most amazing jazz artists in the world. However, I’m pretty sure all of you will like this song !

♥ Jump ( For my love ) - The Pointer Sisters

I first heard the song while watching the movie “Love Actually” , which, btw, was pretty good and fell in blissful love with it once Hugh Grant started doing a funky dance while listening to it. It was pure comic perfection and I do try and recreate the moves every now and then, fail miserably, but since the songs is an all time favorite I trust the dance will get better in the years to come . Dance away!! Oh and send me a video if you get the dance right ! I swear to Danny Crane [ cause he’s God ] I’ll post it !

God damn it, this just screams old Hollywood, sexy dancing and short, glittery dresses with feathers in your hair. It's just the perfect music for the perfect dance with a stranger in a little, chic bar at the end of a semi illuminated alley somewhere in Paris. The lyrics are very well written in terms of expresing the contradiction that love is. The fact that we find ourselve superheroes when it comes to anything else,but love and romantic relationships. "I Can turn the greyest sky blue. / I can make it rain, whenever I want it to./ Oh, I can build a castle from a single grain of sand. / I can make a ship sail, uh, on dry land." Also this version of the song seems much more well put together than the one sung by "The Temptations"... so make sure you give it a listen.

♥ I just called to say I love you - Stevie Wonder

Now if you are over 10 years old and have never listened to this song, not even once in your life, I truly feel sorry for you. It's just pure romanticism and something that people don't do anymore, because now we have e-mails and text messaging, faxing and so on. HOWEVER, if you are single and miss having someone by your side, or feeling sad/ depressed I do not recommend listening to this track... it's pure torture. Nevertheless, the song's a keeper, at least as a reminder of the silly and mushy things we do when we fall in love.

♥ If it's you - Alex (Clazziquai)

Alex, from the Korean group Clazziquai [ a 4 member group that has electronic, bossa-nova stuff or just pure sweet songs ] released a ballad album this year, named "My Vintage Romance", and I'm telling you, the lyrics are all so sincere and heartwarming, poetic and so in sync with the melody. The only downside of the whole album, is that it's in Korean, so not all the world can understand it. Other than that, if this would be released world wide I'm very confident it would be a success. The track is about a grown up man that remembers his first love.

♥ Kiss me - As One

As one is also a Korean group that is known for making anything from heart breaking ballads to funky party music and they put a tremendous amount of effort in both. I first got acquainted with the two female group when they feature in the OST of the award winning drama "Coffee Prince" and I started collecting tracks from them because they are really original. I like this song the best because it has a girly, bubbly feel to it, without being too generic or tasteless. Here's the video, which you can watch in HQ on Youtube:

♥Fallin' and Hello Brooklyn - Jay Z [ Epik high and Pe2ny remix ]

Although I'm not a big fan of Jay Z these two tracks definitely stuck with me because Jay Z brings the cool, gansta, hood [ I don't really know what those mean] vibes with the perfect beats from EH and Pe2ny. My favourite out of the 2 is defo "Hello Brooklyn", maybe because of the line : "If we had a daughter, guess what I would call her? Brooklyn Carter " . Most surely worth giving it a listen, especially you Jay Z fans out there!

♥ Hachimitsu - Hachimitsu and Clover OST

This is a Japanese track, I have no idea who the singer is, I just know it's part of the OST for the movie "Hachimitsu and Clover". The song is what I would describe as a hippie road song. It's semi up beat with some nice instruments playing in the back, a powerful voice and nice lyrics. I don't have the translation handy, but I do remember reading it at one point [ about 2 years ago ] and liking it, so you'll just have to trust me on this one.

♥ Romeo and Juliet / Lover boy - Clazzyquai

These two tracks are the perfect example of what Clazziquai is really about. They're one of those bands that make music because they love music and, as a listener, you can instantly feel it, because everything is in the right measure and has it's own place and purpose. "Romeo and Juliet" is a one line at a time duet sung by Alex and Horan the two vocalists of the band. You will notice that both have very soft tones, but powerful vocals, so they can sing whatever notes, but still take off the edge, which make their voices perfect for modern love songs such as this one. "Lover Boy" is a little bit more up beat and has a stronger tehno influence, but is tremendously catchy and you'll most definitely find yourself humming the tune during the day .Here is the video for "Lover Boy":

♥ Stay - Nell

Nell is a Korean rock band that is way too awesome for words. Why ? Because they are poetic through the lyrics and melody. They truly make beautiful music. That you can almost see unveiling right before your eyes. It's an awesome experience to listen to their songs and watch the world just pass you by. Everything is calm, collected and right where it should be. I can't even begin to explain the track, because my explanation won't do it justice, and not because they use complicated words, just because the words blend in with the notes and you listen to them as one. So it would be pretty much useless to try and take them apart. I will however post a translation, so you'll know what they are talking about word by word:

Their music is known for its melodramatic and poetic lyrics along with it's kind of emotional feeling to it.

“Recede” or “Drifting Apart” is the song that I was getting addicted to listen to.

Nell's music is kind of my taste. Their lyrics are very poetic and romantic which is very pleasant to hear. They combined their gloomy lyrics with a melodramatic musical arrangement and turned it into rock. Their videos and style of music is very unique as well which makes them loved by more fans.

Their newest album is called "SEPARATION ANXIETY" released early this year of 2008. Here's a list of some of Nell's great songs which I really like "A Time to Walk on Memories," "Yearning," "Drifting Apart," and "Goyangi."

Other people may not understand these kind of music, but I'm loving it. It is much more than what meets the eye. If they could understand it the way others which love these kind of music do, they will appreciate it so much.

Look, lordy knows we're all for trans-medium shake ups in the arts (we stoutly encourage them in fact), but standards are standards folks and if you want to use glass then at least respect it sufficiently to do it well.

Nell's latest offering, A white bird flies in the mist, a black bird flies in the night, a woman walks, wild and free, she is not afraid to die, 2008 [installation Gertrude Contemporary Art Spaces, Melbourne] courtesy of Roslyn Oxley9 Gallery, is the perfect example of the problem. No glassie of any standing would be allowed to get away with publicly exhibiting such badly crafted/finished work, so why the hell should anybody else? 

As she gives no accreditation - mind you, no professional gaffer would put their hand up for this lot - are we to presume that Nell herself made them? (...this might, at least, explain the obvious lack of mastery...)

And yes, we get that it's a pop/Pacman-esque critter (see a previous article in Artlink) but that doesn't excuse the drack workmanship.

Our advice to Nell, with all due respect, is (if you want to be so literal) to at least go out and hire yourself a competent blower and/or team... 

    ...just give 'em your (very cute) drawing and bob'll-be-your-uncle, no sweat.

The incision runs from the top of her ear to slightly below what you can see in the picture. Sophie (the basset hound) has been a little afraid since Nell came home. She's been looking at Nell's stitches, but if Nell moves, Sophie runs away. She's a little unsettled with this new look of her adopted Mama Nell). I'm a little concerned about Nell, but for now we are glad she's home.

  I realize this post is a big switch from the past few days of focusing on Nancy Pelosi and her attempt to spin Catholic history and justify her being a pro-abort, and I'll have more on that in the coming days.

For now, I just want to report that our Sussex Spaniel, Nell (who will be 9 in September) will be having surgery tomorrow morning to remove a very large tumor that has grown on the side of her head. My regular readers know this has been a rough year for dogs around our house, so I am concerned for Nell. It's been a year since we rescued Nell. I don't think I've ever had another dog that is so appreciative of the smallest thing. A toy of her very own to chew on. A dog biscuit. Or a pat on the head ... I am still touched by how Nell looks up at me when I stroke her head, squints her eyes shut and smiles. Something so simple, but so meaningful to this brown dog.

Hoping that all goes well tomorrow ...
