• Makino, oh,.......Makino?! : They recently announced who would be playing the female lead, Makino, in the Korean "Boys Over Flowers" set to come out late this year. An actress named Goo Hye Sun and all I have to say to that is......WHO?! [caption id="" align="alignright" width="140" caption="And the role of Makino goes to.....WHO?!"][/caption]

  Apparently she recently starred in a drama called "Strongest Chil Woo" and another drama "Pure 19" which, obviously, I haven't seen yet. I looked her up on DramaWiki and so far it looks like she has a pretty respectable resume so it may not be as bad as I'm thinking. I must say I was rather impressed with the fact that she had a cameo in "August Rush" which is one of my favorite movies. Now I have to go home and pull a "Where's Waldo?" because as of this moment I don't remember seeing her at all. "Hana Yori Dango" forum participants are freaking out a little because she's older than the boys who will playing F4......which is depressing because she's only two years older than me. Let's face it though: Most Asian actresses don't look their age until they hit ohhhhh....... 60!! And even then they only look like they're in their late 40's or at least they're early 50's. I was a bit nervous about this announcement because I have loved this character in every version and it'd be a shame if they ruined it in the Korean version of all versions.  So here it is ladies and gentleman, the lead actors in the Korean "Boys Over Flowers":

They're all a little TOO pretty don't you think? I have to admit that I am hopelessly devoted to "Meteor Garden" while the production is not nearly as good as the Japanese version was and what the Korean version will be it WAS, technically, the original. Plus I kinda have a semi-crush on Jerry Yan. Not only

 is he abnormally cute but he is an ambassador for World Vision Taiwan (he

sponsors a rather LARGE handful of children,) AND he pulled an Angelina Jolie by adopting a child!! Talk about bringing your work home with you!!! Although one thing that none of the "Hana Yori Dango" remakes can claim is that they have Jun Ki Sang directing it. Jun Ki Sang directed "Delightful Girl, Choon Hyang", "My Girl", and "Witch Amusement"-all awesome, all will be in the next issue of "Of the the Asian Persuasion". So far it looks like they have got all the necessary ingredients to make "Boys Over Flowers" a MAJOR HIT!!! But it hasn't air yet and in the "biz" what seems like a sure fire thing could turn out to be a sure fire bomb.

• All that hype.....FOR THIS?!: Well, they finally announced who would be leaving "We Got Married" and turns out it was.......well, Andy and Solbi. That's right. The mystery couple leaving.....is the [caption id="" align="alignright" width="194" caption="Thanks!!......FOR NOTHING!!"][/caption]

  couple we already knew was leaving. All the other couples will be sticking around for a little while longer and they have added two other couples bringing the grand total up to five couples. Of course I'm ecstatic to know that Alex and Shinae are sticking around. This episode was especially special to any "Alshin" lovers.  I'm excited about the other couples sticking around but they all feel like their expiration dates are coming up fast. Crown J and In young are now the only couple that have been together since the very beginning and now that they are going on a year pretty soon here. While the show is fun I'm sure doing this every week can be tiring. Even I would be tired of it after a while. As you may have noticed Kim Hyun Joong is all set to start filming "Boys Over Flowers" so we'll see how long he'll be able to stick around. Between filming, publicity, and the pure mania this role has in store for him he may have to choose between the two shows. My gut is telling me that he won't be choosing WGM over BOF anytime soon. Honestly, I wouldn't either. Lastly, as much as I love to see Alex every week the fact of the matter is that he is still having back issues and I would rather he give up the show if it gets to be too much for him than to continue the show in pain. Then to top it all off one of Shinae good friends committed suicide this past week and I hear she's taking it pretty hard. There, unfortunately, seems to be a string of suicides happening in the entertainment industry over there. Prayfully, the trend will cease and desist ASAP.

  2010. Yes, I know it's a long ways off but that doesn't mean it's not worth getting excited about. Double bonus: Seth Rogen will be starring in the film and the script was written by him and Evan Goldberg. You know? Evan Goldberg. The OTHER guy who wrote Superbad. Honestly, I could care less about The Green Hornet (I'm a Superman fan), there's a good chance that this could go completely wrong, and I think the first few people that see this will have to be established fans of any or all of the people involved.  I've been trying not to be so pessimistic lately but, honestly, I don't know one person who sat and thought to themselves, "Wouldn't Stephen Chow and Ken Miller from "Freaks and Geeks" make a GREAT TEAM?!?" Of course I don't think anyone was thinking of teaming Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan and that turned out pretty nicely for all parties involved.

¿Pueden haber tomado una decisión más extraña? ¿Por qué ella? ¿Porque es conocida y querida en su país? Es obvio que tras sus dramas Pure 19 y King & I, la chica ha ido a más, y ha demostrado que sabe actuar... ¿pero interpretar a Makino?

Sólo con decir que la actriz es noona de todos los F4 parece bastante evidente que esto no va a funcionar. Nacida en 1984, le lleva 3 años a Lee Min Ho, el Doumyouji coreano, y, aunque aparente más edad, nosotros sabemos lo que hay.

Y no es que no me guste la chica... es que no la veo como Makino. Pese a esta foto:

Pero es lo que hay, así que habrá que aceptarlo. El director del drama, Jeon Ki Sang (Delightful Girl Chun Hyang, My Girl) explica que escogió a la actriz por adecuarse a la imagen de Makino y que también se guió por las sugerencias de muchos, ya que su nombre encabezaba la mayoría de las listas de posibles actrices protagonistas.

Hye Sun interpretará, en esta versión (muy versionada, así que no debemos partir de la idea de que será un Hana yori exacto), a la hija del dueño de una lavandería y es la nadadora estrella de una escuela que no tienen equipo de natación. Su historia comenzará repartiendo ropa limpia a una escuela de elite, donde conocerá al F4.

¿Qué opinais vosotros? Espero que no os dejéis llevar por mi primera impresión; creo que lo correcto antes de decir nada es verla actuar interpretando al personaje. Sólo hay que recordar cuánto criticaron a Yoon Eun Hye antes de grabar Goong porque no se asecuaba al personaje... y resultó que al final todos la quisieron y se convirtió en un icono.

En estas cosas, nunca se sabe. A esperar!

Well, i prepared a bday dinner for her and invited our relatives around.  Everyone enjoyed.  I did enjoy too but i was very tired at the end of dinner time.  Am not yet done with the cleaning, the bday girl went to bed already.  She was tired.  I guess with playing but she is not really 100% healthy because of her cough and colds.

I don't have budget for any dine out but she told me that she will pay for me.  I really laugh and wonder where did she get money for that.  Only to find out that the money she has is the money for her medicines. hahaha!  Sneaky girl.  So we went in.  I checked all the food and my they are so expensive.  Since she can't have anything cold, she asked for a burger and french fries.  and i pick the Mc Savers that was worth 50 pesos which has a burger and a drink.  While eating, i told her, that would be our last time to go in there.  :)  Though i love Mc Do fries, i still love the prices at Jollibee.

After buying her meds, i told her that if she is not sick, she could eat a lot more at Mc. Do.  One of her tablets cost P42.00 and i just purchased 3 pcs.  and i told her do u want to eat more? Go to Mc Do and carry the 3 tablets in exchange for fries and fried chicken. hehehe

Lee Dong-wook, just coming off his recent dark drama La Dolce Vita (The Sweet Life), has been invited as a special VIP guest at the upcoming Bangkok International Film Festival, which takes place from the 23rd through 30th. However, as one of eighteen VIP guests, he represents the Hallyu world not on the basis of his recent drama work but an older series, the 2006 SBS trendy drama My Girl. Interestingly enough, while the other seventeen guests were invited on the basis of their movie work, Lee was the only one invited for a drama series.

In addition to walking the VIP red carpet, he’ll be holding his own fanmeeting and press conference, hosting his “Exclusive Party with Lee Dong-wook” on September 27.

A representative from his management company explained, “Because the drama My Girl and the film Arang were big hits in Thailand, Lee Dong-wook has a lot of fans there. As a result of holding one to two fanmeetings there, his interaction with his fans has made him popular.”

So what is a K-drama you ask? It's like an American soap opera only it generally lasts around 16 episodes, higher quality, and mildly less over dramatic...kind of like a miniseries. Love. Lies. Heartbreak. All that jazz.

Iljimae would be on there...but stupid Crunchyroll (my drama paradise) took down the drama due to copyright infringement. I hate law abiders! I was only on Ep 7 or 20something!

Summary

Girl meets a lower class guy with a tough exterior but a good heart and she can't stand him. She hates him. He hates her. They bicker for the first 6 episodes or so. Until Episode 7 when the girl is somehow reunited with her sexy, doctor sunbae (university senior) or a Richy Mc. Richerson from somewhere in her past, and suddenly she's swept away in his perfection. He starts showering her with attention, expensive clothes, fine jewelry, fancy restaurants...the whole shibang. Poor guy gets jealous and slowly starts admitting to himself that he's really in love with the girl he's pretended for 7 episodes to hate. The next 3 or 4 episodes the guy juggles with his feeling and tries to drop hints to the girl about his intentions, but some how communication errors and mix ups keep stopping them from being together just as you think something is going to happen. The rich guy is great, but the poor guy is so sensitive. Viewers side with poor guy (but lets be real...who would you choose?). Episodes 11-14 the girl starts realizing that money isn't whats important...LOVE is important. This realization is aided by the fact that the rich guys mother doesn't think the girl is good enough for her son...so she offers to pay her to disappear. So the girl, starting to feel like she's pretending to be something she's not, is actually falling in love with the guy she always feels like punching in the nuts. Episode 15 they confess their love to each other. Everything is going GREAT....they are about 2 seconds away from kissing...and then I don't know...miscommunication...or the rich guy comes running in breaking them up...or the girl finds out she's dying...blah blah..they don't kiss. You're pissed off. Episode 16 is spent just wanting them to be happy again already. You spend the entire episode in suspense. Even though every drama ends exactly the same you're still biting your nails thinking, "Will they end up together." They do. They kiss. The kiss is disappointing. The end. After spending 16 hours watching the drama you now feel an gaping void in your life...so you fill it with....another drama.

I don't know why I love them so much...but damn...those things are guuuuuuuud. I won't admit to how many I've watched this summer. You'd probably cry for me.

She missed school today and i told her to make herself get better so that she can be in school tomorrow.  She told me yes.  I hope she is laying down reading or resting, not online to browse or play.

She's thinner this time than months back.  She has this cough that has been on for many months now.  I wonder why it did not stop - is it due to ice-cold drinknig water or the hairs of the cat? :(  Even she's sick, she still managed to go out our backdoor to play awhile with the kitty cat. Mom told her that if the cat's fur is the culprit, we would throw our cat away.

Happened to me yesterday... and this isn't the first time I've heard this.

I stopped to get gas before picking up my daughter from school. Usually I do this in the mornings and I send her in to pay while I pump the gas. Well yesterday when I walked in to pay for the gas, the lady behind the counter asked why I didn't send in "our little girl"... she said that they all just love it when my daughter comes in and that she's the sweetest most polite little girl she's ever met. She said "you've done a wonderful job raising her"... I damn near cried.

Now of course I know my daughter is a beautiful person... inside and out... but to hear it from other people... it just makes my day!

I have a confession to make...I haven't watched television for month. I know, I know, it's criminal. Now that things are easing up in my corner of the world, I can now go and indulge in my addiction. I wish I am not too late.

Yes, I missed the finale of My Girl. Honestly, I do feel a bit burdened by the last episodes of the show that I felt I did not miss much, in fact I was so relieved when I stopped watching it. I felt sad that the series reverted to melodrama when it started to not be that. Any readers who would like to give me their own review of the finale of this show, feel free to post. I still don't feel like watching it.

Ako si Kim Samsoon is another matter. Now that is a show I am catching up on. I won't be giving the full recaps of the episodes I missed, maybe a batch review so that I'll be able to give my two-cents' worth on the subject.

I have been waiting for the longest time for the remake of Yo Soy Betty La Fea and last Monday it premiered. Of course, I wasn't there to watch it. I am about to watch it online so that is another show that I'll have to recap. Some commented that it was awful, I guess good taste was not something Philippine dramas are known for. I guess I have to see this things for myself.

Dimple attended a birthday party last week-end. It was Bea's 5th bday. We all love birthday parties, don't we? I love bday parties too but i was not there that night because i worked. So i just let my aunt carry the camera so that she can take photos of the children's fun. This picture is one of their photo sessions. lol!

Desde que terminó de grabar La dolce vita no sabíamos nada de él. Ahora podemos ver a Lee Dong Wook como imagen de Jasper.

No sé porqué, será por su papel en My girl, donde lo vi por primera vez y me enamoró, me parece un hombre de lo más respetuoso y caballero. Suena muy raro lo que digo, pero es así... Aunque al parecer en la vida real es de lo más simpático y siempre está bromeando.

En fin, sea como sea, en estas fotos aparece muy serio, pero la ropa le va de maravilla (hasta el traje de bodas!).

The PA system provided by Earwig Studios, (where we recorded my daughter Gemma Cappel's single 'From Me To You', performed perfectly under the sound engineering of owner, Darren McShane worked so well that noone realised it was live music until we came out from behind the camouflage of the Daimler limousine we arrived in.

2 weeks ago, said daughter became the proud mother of my first grand daughter, Madison Purvis. This was the background from which my song, 'Watch Me Daddy' was born.

I wrote the song, both for her and also for all fathers and daughters because the sentiments I felt, are common for most parents. Fathers and daughters traditionally have a special relationship, but often fathers aren't great, especially as their daughters become teenagers, at telling them how much they love them.

So with the song, this is an opportunity to tell your daughter how much you care, as I did. The chorus is:

The rest of the song is about how our daughters want us to watch everything they do, all their little achievements, how they put on little shows for us when they are little and keep 'performing', wanting us to be proud of them, as we are, which goes on until adulthood, as the last verse:
