Coming back with updates! Oh ya, you must remember that i can’t always update the SJ Member

Coming back with updates! Oh ya, you must remember that i can't always update the SJ Member's CY/fancafe entry everytime they post it. Maybe i will take my priority to Heechul's, Kyuhyun's, Eeteuk's and Donghae's CY/Fancafe entry only. Because sorry, i'm afraid i can't have much time for this.

Hoah, so tired after school. But, this really made my mood up! Our GameKyu is not emo-ing again! Yeah, i'm sure he was happy now.

Kyuhyun’s Minihompy Avatar and Column Update 2008.07.25 (at about 4am China time)

"Whoohoo Let’s go"

Let's go? Go to where, Oppa? Wanna take me there? Oh my god, the landscape on this photo was really beautiful. I wonder where he takes this photos.

FLASH NEWS

Some SHIWON's Randomness

When i was surfing to my friend's blog (fan blog like this), i saw The Story of Ryeowook's present. It's all about SJ-M inside, so i decided to shrink it. Sorry people, but i've got some things that you must know about Shiwon.

Read below.

FANS: No plans to get a girlfriend?

SHIWON: (Suddenly becoming sober) In fact I haven’t gotten a girlfriend till now for three reasons: nd I can focus my energy on taking care of my parents and fam1) I’m a Christian, so I won’t get a girlfriend that early, 2) without a girlfrieily, 3) I’m an entertainer right now, so due to the time constraints of my work and my personality I really can’t get a girlfriend right now, so getting a girlfriend is something for much, much later.

FANS: Shiwon, I hear you like to use a cologne called Miracle?

SHIWON: What?? This is the cologne I used during middle school [TN: junior and high school], you even know about this?

FANS: Your fans are very formidable, the brand of that cologne was told to me by your fans. Do you feel lonely living and working in China?

SHIWON: It’s all right, with them [SJ-M] together with me, we’re quite united, plus with Hangeng’s care towards me, so in these days in China I’ve felt a lot of warmth.”

Because this is not me, who translated it, so if you want to read full of The Story about Ryeowook's Present, you can read it here.

I'm not Christian, so his answer about girlfriend makes me curious. He said, "I’m a Christian, so I won’t get a girlfriend that early". What does it mean? Do you people know what this sentence mean? Why if you a Christian? If you know, then let us know by commenting on this topic. Thanks before :)

Shindong was Dating?

Apparently, rumors are flying all over the internet in Korea that Shindong and an internet ulzzang named Im Ee Rang are dating because some folks took a picture of them coming out of a movie theater together. Both sides are denying it, saying that they are just a close oppa-dongsaeng and have known each other since they were young.

Yesung has a crush on Moon Geun Young (Not confirmed)

Yesung confessed that he was a coward in front of his crush, Moon Geun Young during Choi Hwa Jung’s “Power Time” radio show. Despite the fact that he had always been infatuated with Korea’s little sister, Yesung failed to impress her when he met her at the premiere of the movie “M’s” a couple months ago.

According to Yesung, he couldn’t approach her when he spotted her because there were too many people around. When he saw her for the second time in the parking lot, he was interrupted by his fan who yelled “Moon Geun Young, look at Yesung…”

I am so not the audience for this.

I know, disclaimer, but fuck it, it has to be said.

Mamma Mia! as if you need telling, is the story of a young girl on a Greek island, whose 'free-spirited' mom (now a hotel owner) had three flings one summer twenty years earlier, such that she doesn't know which of the trio is her real Dad. With her wedding imminent, the girl invites the group of aging suitors along (without telling her mother) to try and get the most fitting one to give her away.

With hilarious consequences. And songs.

This is a great fat farce of broad comedy and silly situations, played out in a simplistic Set Up, Joke, Set Up, Joke format that would make Gerald Thomas and Peter Rogers blush with embarrassment. If seeing Julie Walters fall off a boat into the sea is your idea of comedic perfection, then this is the film for you. There was certainly enough screeching hilarity ringing in my ears to suggest that there is indeed a substantial group of the population just ready to lap this up, and neither happy nor willing to ask why she was standing up in the dingy in the first place, rather than sitting, like everyone else would. Possibly wearing an "I'm Going To Purposefully Fall In" t-shirt would have telegraphed the 'joke' a little sooner, but it's debatable.

But, hey, people laughed.

And they sang, too. I mentioned the songs, right?

Well, of course, you knew that, obviously, but it really needs to be hammered home, because in-between the numbers I disappeared into a shell of denial, thoroughly refusing to acknowledge what had just happened and what was just about to happen. Songs. Abba songs, pointed out with huge neon arrows of predictability before the first notes are sung. Crowbarred in like shoving diamonds back into the mine, the silliness of building a musical around songs written to be listened to as individual pieces really does hit home almost immediately.

Much has been said about the singing, some of which catches a fleeting glimpse of adequate, but which is mostly fairly poor. I guess I'm supposed not to care, that the essential feeling of joi de vivre and untethered recklessness is its own reward. That it's all about fun? And it is fun, I can't deny that, but it's artifice. In Sondheim's A Little Night Music, the song Send in the Clowns has often been handed to an actress unaccustomed to musical theatre who doesn't normally have 'a voice'. Liz Taylor in the movie, Judi Dench on the stage. Many people attack it because of the faltering cracked delivery that’s sometimes used, but that’s the whole point. Desirée is reflecting on the ironies and disappointments of her life, which include her rejection of a marriage proposal twenty years earlier. Meeting the same man after so many years, she finds that he is now in an unhappy marriage. She proposes to marry him, but he declines. It is this rejection that prompts the song, and the broken and cracked-open bitterness. It doesn’t matter how good a vocalist the person playing Desirée is, just that she imbues the song with the right sentiment.

So what’s everyone’s excuse here? The young girl is good, Meryl Streep as her Mom isn’t bad either, but beyond that this is ‘Allo ‘Allo with a soundtrack.

Phyllida Lloyd, the director might by saying with a smile, "Don't you love farce? My fault I fear. I thought that you'd want what I want."

Sorry, my dear.

Well, here we go again...I just saw my first movie of the summer, Mamma Mia!, starring a cast of mostly unknown but surprisingly talented actors, who could sing and dance as well. If you're not on the Filling Extra Space homepage, you'll be able to see the movie poster up above this text. This will be a small review of the movie, including what I liked about it, what I didn't, and everything in between. Afterwards, please tell me how I did and leave a comment or tell me how you liked the movie.

I think we all know the classic story with the three 'fathers', and everything, so I won't get into much detail about that, but I will tell you that the actors put the story together in a very nice way to make the film, for me, most enjoyable. There were many fresh faces in the cast, and I actually really liked that, not having to refer back to other films which they had done. I'm a big fan of most of the original music by ABBA, so I couln't help singing along to the catchy tunes.

Now that I think about it, there wasn't really anything that I disliked about the movie. Overall, it was great. What did you think?

Anyway... this post won't be reviewing the movie (sorry) and I wanna post something about anime now. I also posted something interesting below the jump so check it out :) lols.

This film is a must see for ABBA fans; ABBA's music is cleverly re-cast to tell the story of a young 20 year old woman - Sophie played by Amanda SiegFried - searching for herself. It is set on an incredibly picturesque Greek island - that must have been especially built by the Greek tourism commission.

Sophie is about to get married and after coming across one of her mother's old diaries, she secretly invites the three men who could be her father to the wedding: Stellan Skarsgård, Pierce Brosnan, and Colin Firth duly turn up. I am not going to bother giving their characters' names, because their star quality just powers through the plot!

This comes as a unwanted surprise to Sophie's mother - played by Meryl Streep. Two of her old friends - played by Julie Walters and Christine Baranski - who have proper invitations help to balance out the sexual dynamics. Once again I won't bother giving their characters' names, because their star quality just shines through!

The storyline is appealing: young woman searching for her father, but really searching for herself. Minor threads include: single parenthood; love that lasts a 20 year separation; and being true to yourself.

The music was wonderful; the singing was patchy: the mum, aunts and dads were not great singers, but hey, it was sunny and it didn't get in the way of the story being told.

The dancing was nice. As someone said to me afterwards: "It is a bollywood movie with white people!" Who can turn down the cygnet dance done by four men wearing flippers! Did Meryl Streep really do the cossack unassisted off the bed?

The flow of the movie was a little stilted - stop start - due to the need to work in or set up the lines of the next song. This is where the movie betrayed its beginnings as a stage musical. But it did not really matter - the music and scenery carried all before it!!

The only thing that did not work, for me, was the visual age of the dads, aunts and the mother. Amanda SiegFried looks 20, but for me the others looked more like six grandparents. Still good on them for putting themselves outside of their genres.

I think that between them Christine Baranski and Julie Walters nearly 'stole' the movie.

They must have really enjoyed themselves making the movie - imagine getting paid to hang around on a sunny Greek island.

In some ways, this is long ad. for Mamma Mia the stage musical ! I will certainly go if given a chance !! I might even buy the sound track if it comes out.

It's mildly ironic that I will again be writing about a musical. Today I saw Mamma Mia! at Square One with Sarah and my sister Andrea. I have to say I was disappointed. It wasn't bad, but I remember seeing the trailer and having high hopes. I think it's always risky when you turn a stage show into a movie. It's a different kind of story telling and a different style of acting. Although I have not seen the stage show, it seemed that not a sufficient number of changes were made to make this a good movie.

First, many of the actors were still doing stage acting on film, which is absolutely horrid to watch. Second, the songs didn't flow into the story and seemed really musical like. Not that they shouldn't feel like a musical, but the transition in and out of song should have blended better making it feel natural and not forced. Speaking of not blending well, every time the ensemble cast was involved it seemed out of place and awkward. Another awkward thing about the movie was that the action always seemed to be moving. Again, this doesn't seem like a bad thing, to avoid talking heads, but the characters always seemed to be going somewhere and were never in one place at a time. This gave the audience a real hard time to get settled with the suroundings. Every other shot was someone running around on this tiny island.

Just like We Will Rock You where the choice of songs is limited to those from one artist, this time ABBA, the story was again weak. The only character with depth was Donna played by Meryl Streep, the single mother of the bride to be. but even her carefree character didn't give much for you to chew on. The individual performances were exceptional. Although Streep seemed to take too many cues from Celine Dion when it came to putting emotion into her singing and arm movements. Peirce Brosnan, although not a spectatular singer had a soild performer as one of Sophia's three possible fathers.

Many of these issues, I'm not sure if it is a problem with the musical or the movie, but I can definately see the potential as a stage show. I just don't think the transition into a film version was accomplished sucessfuly.

I’ve had this big TV movie idea for awhile now and I’ve decided to pitch it to you today

I've had this big TV movie idea for awhile now and I've decided to pitch it to you today while progress (procrastination) continues on my movie and book reviews.

[caption id="" align="alignleft" width="240" caption="Vanessa Williams"][/caption]

Ever since the debut of Pushing Daisies (one of my new favorite shows!), I've been contemplating how awesome it would be if ABC filmed a movie-length television feature that brought together all of the fabulous Broadway stars in its shows. This network has a huge treasure trove of excellent singers with Tonys, albums, and whatnot. What a waste of talent for them to just be on TV and NOT break out into song every few minutes.

[caption id="" align="alignright" width="240" caption="Sara Ramirez"][/caption]

A semi-brief list of good singers in ABC shows:

Grey's Anatomy: Sara Ramirez joined Grey's after doing Monty Python's Spamalot, T.R. Knight (George) apparently also has some Broadway experience, and Chandra Wilson (Bailey) showed off her singing skills in a Grey's episode where her character sings a lullaby to her baby boy over the phone. Also, Sandra Oh (Cristina) recently belted out "Like a Virgin" while doing an autopsy this season.

Private Practice: I can't vouch for any of the other actors, but Audra McDonald has won FOUR Tony Awards (three of which she won before she was 28!).

Ugly Betty: Dude. Vanessa Williams. Seriously.

Desperate Housewives: Sadly, none of the housewives are musically gifted, but Andrea Bowen, who plays Susan's daughter, was part of the original cast of a Sound of Music revival as Marta von Trapp.

Samantha Who?: Christina Applegate was nominated for a Tony Award for Sweet Charity.

Brothers & Sisters: Both Calista Flockhart and Ron Rifkin (Saul) have Broadway experience (Rifkin won a 1998 Tony for Cabaret).
[caption id="" align="alignright" width="240" caption="Kristin Chenoweth"][/caption]

Pushing Daisies: Last but not least, the jackpot. Kristin Chenoweth, whose character suffers from unrequited love with Ned, is well-known for her role as Glinda the good witch in Wicked. Swoosie Kurtz and Ellen Greene, who play Chuck's aunts, are both Tony-winning/nominated (respectively) actresses. And all three already sing in random episodes of Pushing Daisies anyways!

I'm sure I've missed some people who done more minor Broadway roles, but the point is there's definitely enough people to do this musical.

So here's the big plan. We do a big crossover musical where all the characters from ABC primetime sing, dance, and cause big drama in one show. I'm still working on the plot, but it should go something like this:

[caption id="" align="alignright" width="240" caption="Calista Flockhart"][/caption]

Evil Wilhelmina Slater opens the film with a catchy tune about her conniving plans to conquer the Meade empire. She comes to Seattle Grace hospital because Christina, her baby-surrogate, is having complications with Bradford Meade's baby. The Grey's Anatomy doctors need help from Addison and her Private Practice gang (as they have yet to hire a new pre-natal surgeon) so she comes up from LA for a visit.

[caption id="" align="alignleft" width="240" caption="Christina Applegate"][/caption]

It just so happens that at the same time, Samantha Newly is getting a check-up by Derek Shepherd because her amnesia isn't getting any better. She gets a flashback of bad Samantha being horribly mean to five housewives on Wisteria Lane and she leaves the hospital singing of her determination to make things up to them (out of hospital subplot).

Former presidential candidate Robert McCallister is also at Seattle Grace with his wife Kitty Walker, who desperately hopes to conceive (the rest of the Walker clan somehow find out, call each other in that big family gossipy kind of way, and tag along, Nora asks nagging motherly questions like usual, and maybe Sarah Walker has a fling with Alex Karev).

[caption id="" align="alignright" width="240" caption="Swoosie Kurtz"][/caption]

Finally, Ned, Chuck, and Emerson Cod sneak into the hospital morgue to investigate the latest murder case and Olive Snook tries to follow them to see what they're up to (perhaps she serenades Ned from afar). It turns out the cure to everyone's medical problems is a therapeutic trip to watch Chuck's aunts' synchronized swimming act the Darling Mermaid Darlings (complete with a musical performance). Ned and company tag along and catch the murder culprit at the show and the movie ends with a big happy song where Dancing with the Stars contestants join the dance sequence.

Oh yeah, and the whole thing should be narrated by the Pushing Daisies narrator with the British accent who will say awesome things like "Wilhelmina Slater had been alive for exactly 46 years 22 days 11 hours 2 minutes and 51 seconds when she decided to supplant Daniel Meade as editor-in-chief of Mode Magazine."

[caption id="" align="alignleft" width="240" caption="Audra McDonald"][/caption]

What would make this movie even better would be if they did something like only sang Backstreet Boys songs the entire time. It'll be like Scary Movie meets Mamma Mia!. But with better humor and better singing. It would blow High School Musical 3 right out of the water.

To show you how well this proposal could work, the following is a clip of how musical-esque scenes are wonderfully integrated into Pushing Daisies episodes. Just imagine this video, except a lot longer and with more people. Enjoy!

(P.S. It sort of scares me that I know stuff about all these random shows. Too much TV for Sophia. Tsk Tsk.)

Let me first say that I am open to learning about the opposite sex, and not in a dumb how do I know

Let me first say that I am open to learning about the opposite sex, and not in a dumb how do I know she likes me? kind of way. A few years ago I went to a local production of Eve Ensler's The Vagina Monologues, where women talk discuss in rather frank terms about what makes them...women. I was shocked--do women really talk that way when men aren't around?--but I sat through it. My female friends appreciated my tolerance (it was very crude) and assured me that not all women talk about lady business.

Last summer I attended a women-only improv workshop at a national improv competition. It was refreshing to see how women perceive how men perceive women. I've even read He's Just Not That Into You. Sure, women still frighten me a bit, but at least I'm trying my darndest to understand them.

Mamma Mia! is a movie about women, starring women, made by women (first time film director Phyllida Lloyd and screenwriter Catherine Johnson) and made for women. Being a straight dude, I bravely entered into the theater with my date, knowing full well that I fall nowhere near the film's target demographic. I had weathered the Monologues and an improv exercise called--no joke--The Womb, and survived. Two hours of singing and dancing to ABBA tunes won't kill me, right?

Mamma Mia! produced a new level of discomfort for me. I have no doubt that to enjoy this film, I would have had to have unholy doses of estrogen sashay through my veins. I could actually feel my body physically reject this movie. This is not a slam on the quality of the movie (that'll come later); I'm simply saying that there are certain places I shouldn't go, and this was one of them. The whole time I was in the theater my soul whispered, you shouldn't be here. Never ignore that still, small voice that tells you you're in way over your head, especially when taking a voyage to Secret Lady World.

What's it about? If you watched the above trailer, you know the entire story. 20 year-old Sophie (Amanda Seyfried) is getting married. She sends wedding invitations to three different men (Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgard) who may or may not be her father. See, twenty-one years ago Sophie's mom Donna (Meryl Streep) had an extra hot summer, and nine months later Sophie appeared. The only--and I mean ONLY--problem is that nobody knows who the real father is; not Donna, not her old beaus, and not a doctor who could do a DNA paternity test, because this all takes place on a remote Greek island.

The flimsy plot is weaved through a seemingly endless array of ABBA songs (as opposed to regular musicals, where songs cater to story and character) as people dance and sing and squeal and hug and kiss and drink and run away when flustered. (This movie could have also been titled Everybody's Running, and probably would have had ABBA wrote a song with the same name.)

What's good about it? Seyfried has genuine charisma and a pleasing singing voice--we'll be seeing more of her in the future. And Streep, in true form, owns her role and gives 110%.

What's bad about it? Lloyd's direction is quite flat. The dancing is sloppily choreographed and edited poorly. Isn't that one of the reasons why people go to musicals? And to see Pierce Brosnan--the former James Bond--warble through his songs made my soul die a little. He's a good sport for doing it, but he was grossly miscast. The supporting cast play their parts so broadly they leave no room for subtlety. You can tell everybody had fun making the film, but after a while it just feels like they're having so much fun they forgot to invite you.

Perfect for: Women. And only women.

I haven't been to the theatre in probably 25 - 20 years, so last night was something I haven't done for a long time. Tickets were bought for Sal's birthday - she seemed to have a fantastic time, which is what was the most important thing really, but I really enjoyed it too. The scene changes, songs, routines and actors were all fantastic. A great audience made for a great atmosphere too.

I've got supercalifragilisticexpialidocious in my bloody head and can't get rid of it now though!

Holiday time on Sunday. The back packing is starting todat as I can almost guarantee that we're going to forget something!! I can't wait. I am in serious need of a break.

Pierce Brosnan cannot sing.

It's a mean way to start a post, I know... but I just got back from seeing Mamma Mia and I just cannot pass up sharing these thoughts with you unknown readers out here in Cyberspace.

I'll be the first to admit that I'm not a die-hard Brosnan fan, although I have admired him as one of those "hot" older actors that I think has aged well and continues to be a stud on the big screen and the small. More than that, I have to admit that I absolutely love the idea that Pierce Brosnan, everyone's choice for hottest James Bond ever, is actually bad at something. It gives him this human edge that makes him seem so much more real. I mean, I don't know what I expected. I guess I figured that since he was so great looking that he must also have the voice of an angel. I was relieved to find out that not only were angels completely non present, but he also doesn't seem to show his teeth when he attempts singing. A fact that my coworkers and I continue to snicker at.

The point? There might not be one. I think it's something along the lines of -- it's good to know that hot men don't have everything going on either. It makes me feel better when I think I'm looking pretty darn sexy and then I walk myself right into a glass door. We all have moments. Even you Pierce. We love you all the more for it.

I did tech crew in high school, and was in a couple plays so it felt like I was constantly living in the state of a "musical" mind. We new the songs for all the plays and would break out singing sometimes, I know, I know...sad but true. It was good times (:P) after all.

Well, here is a crew that truly made life a musical. Granted they don't sing very well, but still it's hilarious.

I'm sitting in my living room sipping milk. It is quite milky and delicious. I had a very interesting morning. Well my sister Andrea works at the Second Cup by Square One, when she's working I like to go visit her and have a drink. Well, unfortunately it's at a very awkward distance from my house. It's walkable but just a tad too far to walk on a hot day. Walking is not the best option but there is a perfectly easy way to get there by bus. Heck, there are two different bus routes close to my house that will get you there conveniently. But, it's just a tad too close for that. Also, spending $2.75 to to buy overpriced drinks at that lifestyle food establishment is not worth it. So, what is the best way to travel to this place? A bike of course. The problem was that although I had a bike I never used it. It was grossly dirty and on my balcony. I have been putting off cleaning it and tuning it up for a long time but I decided this morning I was going to do it. Now the tires were flat but I was home alone and didn't know where our pump was, so I decided that I'd be able to make it to the closeish gas station that had an air pump. This descision was mistake to say the least. Bicycles are supposed to you know be efficent in the sense that you can get further with the same amount of energy used walking. This was not the case with flat tires. I decided after getting three quarters of the way that I would walk the bike. I filled the tires and I was off ( with a lot more efficency) to Second Cup.

I sipped a refreshing drink while reading the newspaper. I read an article about We Will Rock You which I am seeing tonight. I saw it on it's very first showin previews at the Cannon theatre in 2007. It was excellent. It has since moved to the Panasonic theatre where Blue Man Group used to be. The review in the paper said it was better this time around with cuts and changes that were beneficial to the show's enjoyment. I'll be the judge of that.

I returned home after a short stop at Square One with a new sense of freedom. After I had finally got the bike out, now I can go alot more places.
