Ah, don't you love Stuff White People Like? Ol' Christian Landers doesn't post new entries very often, but when he does, I read, I laugh, I sigh and realize that I'm totally that white person he's writing about. His latest entry, #105, is about unpaid internships:

White people view the internship as their foot into the door to such high-profile low-paying career fields as journalism, film, politics, art, non-profits, and anything associated with a museum. Any white person who takes an internship outside of these industries is either the wrong type of white person or a law student. There are no exceptions.

Last summer I turned down a full-time business-y job that would have paid me so that I could work part-time at a non-profit that could barely pay its employees, let alone its interns. Also, I was hoping to make my father even more irritated with me by continuing to make no money. Ever. It worked.

I was really sold out on Gov. Bush back then. It sounds so corny now, but I thought he was a really cool guy. The kind of guy you would have over for a barbecue and to share a good beer. I liked his proposals for building an international community to move into the post-cold war 21st century in a universally beneficial manner. He was going to 'save' Social Security, lower my taxes and .... bring integrity back to the Oval Office. Because we just had a guy getting serviced by a brainless intern on the Resolute Desk and we needed integrity in the White House. Our long national porno was cumming coming to an end!

Eight years later and Bush's 2000 standard of "not only what is legal but what is right" is a joke. Let's see, his Attorney General (Gonzales) is suspected of perjuring himself a number of times BEFORE CONGRESS on the little issue of warrant-less wiretaps and politically motivated firings. And how he was able to fight off those charges by claiming that the NSA's program "may have created confusion" or that he was told to fire the US Attorney's, but wasn't sure who told him. One would hope THE ATTORNEY GENERAL would write those things down.

That's not all folks! The ongoing Bush-clusterf*ck of an energy policy written by Exxon-Mobil and Haliburton,  'Plamegate', the Libby pardon, the Abramoff affair, doctoring scientific reports to support all sorts of cockamamie ideas from stem cells to evolution. Oh, and my favorite! Telling the first-responders and volunteers at Ground Zero that that powdery stuff that Manhattan was covered with was just a powdered sugar coating.

I believe that Lewis Black said it best, "I watch the President and I can't help but think that one of us is f*cking nuts. And for once in my life, I don't think it's me".

Let us not forget that we have seen the end of habeas corpus, endorsing the torture of war prisoners, the politically-motivated firings of U.S. attorneys, the theory of the unitary-executive and the unprecedented assertion of executive privilege all show a President committed to doing neither what is legal nor right. And then there's Iraq.

Eight years ago on August 3rd, George W. Bush promised us he would "uphold the honor and dignity" of his office. I'm calling BULLSHIT on that one!

Bush volcando la ambición homicida de la mafia sobre poblaciones civiles indefensas. Unos cuantos votos mal contados en Florida bastaron para que el saxofonista de Arkansas fuera sucedido no por Al Gore, quien por lo menos ha leído un poco y sabe dónde queda Asia, sino por el junior petrolero que soñaba con terminar los negocios bélicos que su papá había dejado pendientes. Como consecuencia, muchos centenares de miles de personas han fallecido en forma prematura. Hay coyunturas críticas en las que vale la pena jugarse el todo por el todo. La elección de 2000 fue una de ellas y los demócratas estadunidenses no quisieron hacerlo.

Este año hay otra. La candidatura de Obama representa la posibilidad de que la política interna y externa de Estados Unidos experimente un retorno mínimo a la sensatez y al aprecio por la vida humana. Desde luego, el hombre de Illinois no es, ni pretende ser, un revolucionario, sino un moderado, dispuesto a rescatar algunos de los valores básicos de la democracia formal estadunidense que han sido hechos de lado por el régimen de Bush; un neoliberal vergonzante, si gustan, consciente de la necesidad de endulzar el salvajismo del mercado con un poco de programas sociales; un imperialista modesto, digamos, con cierta disposición a ensayar métodos de control sobre otras naciones que no sean los tanques Abrams y los barcos y aviones y campos de tortura de secuestrados.

John McCain, por su parte, lleva un tanque Abrams interconstruido en su estructura mental y su oferta política es, en esencia, la misma que la de Bush, acaso con un poco menos de corrupción y un poco más de elegancia. De resultar electo, es muy posible que el mundo viviera otros cuatro años –ya van casi ocho– de violencia militar indiscriminada, de extremada insensibilidad imperial y de predominio absoluto de los capitales por sobre las personas.

El matiz que separa a ambos se ha vuelto cada vez más tenue, sobre todo por la desafortunada idea de Obama de ir a buscar los votos del centro político, para lo cual reprimió su audacia y su frescura. Con ello, lejos de ganar sufragios de los indecisos, generó el desencanto de quienes consideran impostergable un viraje significativo en el manejo del poder (cada vez menos) público estadunidense. Ojalá que de aquí a noviembre recupere su perfil propio. Estados Unidos merece una dignificación de la Presidencia y el resto del mundo merece un respiro.

This Friday they will make a joint campaign appearance in Unity, New Hampshire. How special.

New Hampshire is a critical battleground state, and what better symbolism can there be for uniting the Democratic party and trying to take the State, than appearing in Unity.

Of course it was a tough decision which town to appear in. Hillary first proposed Hell, Michigan, because frankly that's what it f*#king feels like having lost.

Some of her ardent supporters suggested the location of Why, Arizona, because what difference does it make to them since they're voting for McCain.

Angered by this, some over-zealous Obama supporters, retorted, "Maybe the pants-suited Hillary should kick off her campaign in Square Butt, Montana!"

To which the Hillary people, said, "At least she doesn't belong in Superior, Wisconsin, that damned elitist!"

This "Unity" thing could be harder than it seems, leaving some to speculate that perhaps the two should start in Deep Gap, Tennessee, or Double Trouble, New Jersey, and maybe after some long months on the road they could pray to end up in Paradise, Michigan come November. One can only Hope (Arkansas).

But despite the challenge, the New York Senator and former First Lady really wants to do the right thing, so hence, Unity, New Hampshire it is. (However, she did say that on her way there she hopes not to get "accidentally" lost in Detour, Maryland.)

Their appearance in Unity is in fact the beginning of a series of joint campaign appearances. After Unity, the two will travel to a town in another key swing state - Devil Town, Ohio, where they will be joined by Reverend Jeremiah Wright. Wright was quoted as saying, "Obama is the Devil, or at least I thought he was, but then I realized, no, it was me all along. So I'm going to apologize and do the right thing, praise Jesus."

From there Obama and Clinton will address the need for renewable sources of energy and weaning Americans off foreign oil, in their stop in Gas, Kansas.

The duo will show their support for same sex marriage and GLBT issues at their stops in Gay, Michigan, Queer Creek, Alaska, and Lesbia, New Mexico.

Meanwhile, Bill Clinton wants to do the right thing as well. So he's going out on his own to stump for Obama. Bill's office released the towns that Bill said he really wants to tour. First stop is Zip Down, Pennsylvania, with another stop at nearby Blue Balls, Pennsylvania. From there it's on to Cockland, Ohio, then Beaver, Oklahoma. Finally, he'll make two last quick stops in Intercourse, Pennsylvania and Dickshooter, Idaho before reaching Climax, Minnesota, his final, and much desired, destination.

Upset that the Dems are again pulling all the attention, John McCain is going on his own tour beginning in Overlook, Alabama and ending in November in Road's End, California. From there it's back to Nothing, Arizona.

One thing for sure: we wish all politicians would conduct their business in Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.

Recently, Bill Clinton threw a hissy fit over an article in Vanity Fair magazine accusing him of infidelity via sleeping with actress Gina Gershon. Oh, how do they get away with such outlandish truthful lies and defamation you know he did it! (source).

On the Democratic side, voters were given the golden opportunity to elect the redoubtable spouse of the recipient of the most famous act of fellatio in the history of mankind.

The voters unfortunately rejected Madame Clinton and they will forever regret it.

The most disturbing aspect of this current election season is the selection of Barack HUSSEIN Obama as the Democratic nominee.

Zontar has obtained some photos which the Obama camp does not want you to see. One can understand why. If you were Obama would you want the electorate to see you in your undisguised state?

It is also quite understandable why Mr. Obama and his advisers tried to play down his association with the ever amusing Jeremiah Wright and one of Obama's oldest friends:

Should we hand over the office of the president of the United States to someone who was most likely in on the planning of 9/11? I think not! The alternate of Mr. McCain being elected as the leader of the free world is not acceptable. Zontar, through his gift of second sight has a vision of McCain being awakened at 3 a.m. and unleashing nuclear warheads into the atmosphere for no good reason other than being in a sour mood from losing his sleep. Old folks do get moody!

Also would you want your president to have no more control of his bowels than this?

That's how the Clintons think - no matter what, they have to win. Winning is everything, and how you do it is not determined by any inner sense of values or ethics, but by a resolve to do whatever needs to be done, no more and certainly no less. So, on that day in January 1998 - because they had to win - their campaign to discredit a 23-year-old intern began in the White House. Private investigators dug up her old boyfriends. White House operatives spread the word that it was the president who was the victim. The young woman was an unbalanced stalker.

As impeachment unfolded, the extramarital affairs of key members of the Republican leadership in the House were suddenly outed.

Hillary Clinton began the disinformation campaign. Appearing on "The Today Show," she righteously claimed that there was nothing to support Lewinsky's claims and insisted that Bill was just "ministering" to a "troubled young woman." Then came the blue dress and the Clintons finally - and reluctantly - changed gears.

But they never changed philosophies. Winning is still everything. No matter who gets destroyed, offended or hurt in the process.

Wow...Doesn't give me much hope that Hillary won't try to take this nomination battle all the way to the convention...

She seems that she is getting loose with the press, because as my man Dandy Don Meredith (former Cowboy QB, and host of Monday Night Football) was fond of doing at the end of the game was to sing, "Turn off the lights, the party's over!" What made it funny was he seemingly was very perked (or inebriated) and sang off key. I think that the picture speaks for itself. She is probably reminiscing on the times when she actually had a chance to win, or talking wistfully about when she was a shoo-in for the Democratic nomination. In light of Nate correcting borrowing from the stages of Grief, we will use the stages of political drunkenness and sobering up, borrowed from George, and adapted to the Clinton Campaign.

The Five Stages Of Political Drunkenness And Sobering Up

Drinking

• Stage 1 - Clever: This is when you suddenly become an expert on every subject in the known universe. You know you know everything and you want to pass on your knowledge to anyone who will listen. At this stage you are always right. And, of course, the person you are talking to is very wrong. This takes for an interesting argument when both parties are CLEVER.
  

This is the beginning of the Clinton campaign. Everyone is telling her how great she is. After her win in New Hampshire, to quote Kayne West, You can't tell me nothin'… and you certainly couldn't tell her anything. This was her race to lose…and later she would find a way to make that happen…

• Stage 2 - Attractive: This is when you realize that you are the most ATTRACTIVE person in the entire bar and that everyone fancies you. You can go up to a perfect stranger knowing that they fancy you and really want to talk to you. Bear in mind that you are still CLEVER, so you can talk to this person about any subject under the sun.
  

She knew that the race was hers, so she started to pay less and less attention. According to Michelle Cotto,

"Hillary assembled a team thin on presidential campaign experience that confused discipline with insularity; they didn't know what they didn't know and were too arrogant to ask at a time early enough in the process when it could have made a difference, effectively shutting out even some long-time Hillaryland loyalists. Her innermost circle of [Patti Solis] Doyle, [Mark] Penn, [Mandy] Grunwald, [Neera] Tanden and [Howard] Wolfson formed a Board of Directors with no single Chairman or CEO; nobody was truly in charge, nobody held truly accountable."

Overconfidence got her to this part. She was married to one of the most popular presidents in recent history (excepting Ronald Regan, who was beloved from his time on the silver screen) and couldn't find a way to assemble a start studded staff. Far too many times during the campaign, the message espoused by Hillary seemed confused or in some cases, contradictory. But, this didn't matter to her, because regardless of whatever warts she might have, she was the flyest one in the room.

• Stage 3 - Rich: This is when you suddenly become the RICHEST person in the room. You can buy drinks for the entire bar because you have a bottomless wallet. You can also make bets at this stage, because of course you are still CLEVER so, naturally, you will always win. Anyway, it doesn't matter how much you bet because you are RICH. You will also buy drinks for everyone that you fancy, in the knowledge that you are clearly the most ATTRACTIVE person present.
  

Her attractiveness level went down in November, when questions about her slinging the race card, (something that we have already blogged about) and her waving the gender card, forgetting that that there is an intersection of people that she totally wrote off in trying to win. That is okay though, because to her, she is the hottest pistol in the bar, capable of winning over whoever she needs. This Slate article, speaks to her comebacks after her popularity started to wane.

• Stage 4 - Invincible: You are now ready to pick fights with anyone and everyone, especially those with whom you have been betting or arguing. This is because you are now INVINCIBLE. At this point you can also go up to the partners of the people who you fancy and challenge them to a battle of wits or strength. You have no fear of losing this battle, because as well as being INVINCIBLE you are CLEVER, you're RICH and you're more ATTRACTIVE than them anyway.
  

Really? You are going to challenge Barack on race? Then you think that you have the ability to basically challenge him on his quals? I mean, what are your political chops coming from? Being one of many who slept with the president is not enough to run the country, or else she would be running the country, because you do not like to go south, or "shake hands" with the president.

Sometimes, you have to get down and dirty…

• Stage 5 - Invisible: This is the final stage of drunkenness. At this point you can do anything, because you are now INVISIBLE. You can dance on a table to impress the people who you fancy because the rest of the people in the room cannot see you. You can also snog the face off them for the same reason. You are also INVISIBLE to the people who want to fight you. You can walk through the street singing at the top of your lungs because no one can see or hear you and because you're still CLEVER you know all the words.

TIME: Can you envision a point at which--if the race stays this close--Democratic Party elders would step in and say, "This is now hurting the party and whoever will be the nominee in the fall"?

CLINTON: No, I really can't. I think people have short memories. Primary contests used to last a lot longer. We all remember the great tragedy of Bobby Kennedy being assassinated in June in L.A. My husband didn't wrap up the nomination in 1992 until June. Having a primary contest go through June is nothing particularly unusual.

I mean, I blogged about this earlier about the fear of a black president and that he would get shot. Good to know that Hillary is acting on my fears…Plus, the Kennedy affair was a short race from entry to the unfortunate conclusion. Besides that, your husband (who I voted for) had the race wrapped up hella early, so your comparison doesn't fit there either…Part two later on sobering up…

What credibility to you actually have to be a commentator in these elections? Or rather, to be a voice of authority for one of the candidates? Do you really think we are so stupid that we will think of you as a great thinker about the election that we should take you seriously? Let me write this slowly for you. Gas Prices: 
One thing we can all agree on; Welfare mother PHD, vegetarian, Italians, Jews, meat eater, rich,  poor.  Everybody have one thing in common, they are all complaining about the gas.

Economy:
You stop and think about how bad things are, no one is complaining about it.   They are talking about 17,000 retailers going out of business between now and Christmas, Sharper Image is already gone.   I knew things were bad 12 years ago when white people started having happy hour. I would go in there and no one was happy! 

Rev. Wright:
People say why didn't Obama leave the church?  So why do the rules change when it becomes my turn?

Nuns and priests both have college educations.  Yet nuns don't have equal rights with priests!  She can't give communion.  She can't listen to confessions.  Nobody said why didn't the nun leave the church?  Where those priests were ripping off those little boys I never read where a priest or nun left the church.  What they were doing was criminal.  At least what Jerimiah Wright was doing wasn't criminal!

Now, we are certainly not saying in American Politics, there should not be good morals and values; however, Democrats are not the only ones who have failed in their marriages or have had been caught in adultery. Someone has already said Senator McCain has already had an affair with another woman who looks similar to his wife. This case has already been in national breaking news. Of course, Senator McCain denied his sexual encounter with this other woman and so did his wife, but that does not make him an innocent saint.

We don't want another Republican over this country. The Democratic Party must succeed in getting the hight number of votes, because anyone like George Bush will get us more in debt. We had enough increase in gas prices. We have had enough fear of taking a flight or even entering an airport. We've had enough people die in this war against Iraq. We have had enough hatred against foreign countries. Now, we must choose a president who is opposite of George Bush. John McCain does not look like a nice guy. He doesn't even speak like a nice guy: "If I have to go through the gates of hell to get Bin Laden, I will," He said.

It's time for the Democratic Party to rule this country like never before, even if it takes changing the minds and hearts of people who vote republican. The Republican Party will destroy this country and people will never even realize how we could very well come to terms with our enemies, if we just choose peace. It's so simple. When we choose peace, then we all can focus on making a better economy, rather than a recession.
