[caption id="attachment_165" align="alignright" width="300" caption="Hard at Work Readying the Car for the Track"][/caption]

VROOM! VROOM! I'm ready for the track!

This weekend I have my first track event! This should be a lot of fun. Dad is racing in a Time Trial. I wonder if I'll get to drive? Mom says I'm too young but we'll see. Maybe I can convince Dad. He's a sucker for my smiling puppy face. I've been practicing while they are at work and I'm stuck in my silly crate.

I worked in the garage to help get the car ready for the weekend. I was a huge help. We reinstalled the passenger seat as well as the harnesses. Safety first is what I say! Tonight we even rotated the tires. Getting the car ready is a lot of work.

[caption id="attachment_166" align="alignright" width="300" caption="Helping Dad Install Passenger Seat Harness"][/caption]

I stayed right by Mom and Dad so they wouldn't have to worry about me. I'm good about that - I know they worry if I stray too far away. Plus I like their company.

I should have some great stories and pictures from this weekend.

I kept getting a little distracted though while working on the car. There is this spot on the driveway where Mom spilled a drop of milkshake a week ago. She swears there is nothing there anymore but I can taste the delicious flavor for sure. I keep trying to get her to try but she isn't going for it. She gets mad at me and tells me to move on but I just can't. IT IS SO WONDERFUL!

One of my ears is pretty close to staying up. I can't wait to start looking like a grown up GSD! Mom and Dad says I'm growing each and every day. I can't really tell but they say they can. Mostly they just think I'm getting a bit chubby to carry down the stairs for potty breaks but again - just more of me to love. :)

The local and international news media reported the story of Nancy Kissel, an American expatriate living in Hong Kong, who murdered her husband in cold blood when she served him a milkshake laced with sedatives before bashing his head repeatedly.

She blamed it on sexual/drugs abuse and neglect, reacting in self-defense; the prosecutors said she was a calculative woman who had planned this murder from the start.

So which is it? The law has concluded that she is guilty. But if you peel the layers that surround this story, you will find that it is more complicated than a simple summer milkshake plot.

Burger Binge

While I eagerly wait for one of the Project Runway stars to open a inexpensive clothing boutique akin to H&M, I have to settle for the fast-food exploits of another Bravo boy, from a show I don't particularly love. Top Chef contestant Spike opened a burger joint several months ago on Capitol Hill called Good Stuff Eatery. I entered with little enthusiasm, but was impressed with what I saw, aside from the prices. (Since when was it okay for an order-at-the-counter restaurant to charge $6.89 for a burger, and $5.25 for a shake?)

The operation seemed to run smoothly. And the place was clearly created for replication. It had that Chipotle minimalist feel—and I felt kind of cool just to be there. Like I was on the precipice of something that could one day be "big." The food is the real star here. I ordered the Farmhouse Burger (pictured below), the most basic choice available. And it was excellent. The meat was moist and cooked medium (apparently that's okay now), the tomatoes and lettuce were backyard fresh (nothing like the soggy hybrids you tend to get at big chains), the buttery bun somehow avoided that "greasy" taste, and the thinly sliced red onions—oh, the onions—gave the whole package a zing. It really was one of the better hamburgers I've had. Patten ordered Colletti's Smokehouse, a bacon, cheese, and onion ring sandwich that tasted good—great really, but how could something that fat ridden not taste great? I suggest the simple Farmhouse burger, as it really allows you to appreciate the quality of each ingredient.

We ordered the onion rings and famous Toasted Marshmallow shake too. We'll pass on the rings next time (their fat to taste ratio didn't compete with our other items), but the shake.... I've read rave reviews about this thing, but you really have to taste one for yourself to understand the power of this milkshake. Like whoa! We left engorged and felt no need to eat for hours afterward—the perfect spot for an occasional binge.

I am feeling some of the side effects of Cambridge Diet now. They don't last and can be alieviated. Yesterday I drank 5 litres of fluid - most of which was water. I woke up this morning and immediately thought "Oh I've got to do through all that again". I drank water and left the flat early because I didn't want to be tempted. I have my quota of water to drink before lunch. Have a slight headache but that will go. By day 3 things should be different but I am struggling today. I keep thinking "A week today you'll already have lost weight" and that does help. For somebody who loves food, Cambridge is incredibly hard. The one advantage is that I now work in an environment where the food available isn't, shall we say, stunning. My last employment had many excellent subsidised eateries and superb jerk chicken and pork! And today I have... well another strawberry milkshake! Day 2....

How does one pronounce Djordje? Are the Djo in Djordje and the Djo in Djokovic phonetically similar? POTENTIAL FOR AWESOMENESS AND ALLITERATION GO HAND IN HAND.

Don't get me wrong, I'm v. excited about Marko's debut and how it could be a delicious taste of things to come (IMAGINE A DJOKOVIC-RUN DC SQUAD), but Djodjo is where it's at. He's supposed to be the climax after a crescendo in tennis talent, drama and pratitude in the family. HE'S THE WALRUS. I love him already. ;_;

Unrelated, but Nando Verdasco is ON NOTICE for chatting up Ana Ivanovic and not thinking about me and my good ship dreams. But can't blame it all on him. Ana's proven to be an Armada fan. Tommy, Rafa, Nando. Check, check, check. (Ana, a warning: Feli Lopez's girfriend seems like a territorial bunneh. Beware, bb.)

Friends, I made an alarming discovery this afternoon that has the potential to alter my life in a drastic way. Carl's Jr. makes very good milkshakes. This may seem like great news at first glance, and indeed I was myself at first thrilled to discover it, but upon further reflection I've come to believe it as potentially detrimental. You, fare readers, I'm something of a milk shake afficianado and if given the ease of opportunity I could envision myself drinking one nearly every day. What has kept me from doing so is not unlike what has kept me from consuming deadly amounts of bacon and other cured meats, which I have previously discussed. There is a built in safeguard against over consuming such delights, which is that they are kind of a pain to prepare. Now, you can find a milkshake on just about every corner in town, but I usually avoid shakes from fast food places because they're usually lousy and the hole-in-the-wall burger joints that do have the good stuff don't usually have drive-thrus. The prospect of having to find a place to park, get out of the car, and wait in line has more than once deterred me from purchasing the semi-liquid treat. So this new found fact has me much concerned. It wouldn't be big deal except that there is a Carl's Jr. a mere half-mile from my work and I pass it at least twice a day, sometimes more.

I'd been craving a shake for a week or so, so on my way home I decided I'd give CJ's a try and maybe I'd get lucky and it wouldn't be half bad. If I had only known. Jen and I have been doing Weight Watchers for the past few weeks and I've done pretty well, losing about five pounds. But I fear this is going to put a damper on the whole endeavor. I think I can live with that.

So it was an ultra impromptu outing, Jerry had his van today, and we intended to watch Mirrors, stupid Sheena was too scared to watch it, then we decided to ask Rebecca too because she was quite excited to watch horror movies.

Are you afraid now sheena? MIRRORS?(Nana too)

As mentioned earlier, after Jerry asked me about it, I asked rebecca, she's ok with it except that she can't confirm with it. So suddenly we thought of NaNa, didn't see her for decades so why not? We were lucky that she was out with her friends at orchard. So we decided to meet at around 4-5 plus. In the mean time, was stoning at home until sheena forced me to watch MTV, and omfg, Britney is getting popular again or what? seriously? Besides that, I had not touched the tv remote control for at least a year now. Then kept calling rebecca about the outing to confirm, oh well, guess its only me jerry and nana. Talked to Jerry online and told him that I will be going to the epicenter at wheellock for awhile to check out some ipod stuff, so we decided to meet there. As at 3.50, I was still home doing some stupid thing that Sheena introed, some pet society thing, it was bloody addictive, I don't know why, but it is. So you see Sheena's so serious into it..

It's something in Facebook, gotta try it out. At around 4.00 while i was busy addicted to the pet thingy, Joey called and want me to fetch him from the MRT. So it was a little rush, I made it to Wheellock, Jerry wasn't there yet. On the way there I saw his van and he was like confused on where to go. It seems like he've made the wrong turn and went round and round and the ICU beeped twice. Fortunately for me, I escaped the erps.

Went there and checked out the ipod. Jerry came and Nana came afterwards. NaNa was like I don't care I have to shop before we do anything else! She said she dressed too casually and without make-up. Err.

We went to Vivo and bought movie tickets. It was for Step Brothers, a funny but ultra lame movie. Well, better than watching MAMAMIA I guess? Then we went to Secret Recipe for lunch. And oh my bloody god it was fabulous. The food there totally owned me. Nana and Jerry was complaining that I complement the food too much. It was totally superb.
Here's NaNa enjoying her fish thingy.

Jerry and NanaI think everyone's trying to renact Sheena's Murder Tastes Good. The closest that can match Sheena would be Rebecca

As seen from:

Oh, here's NaNa and I. The third attempt, NaNa says she doesn't look good three times.

Nana's Dolly Fish

Jerry's poor Lamb...

My chicken thingy.
We watched the movie and afterwards, NaNa went window shopping for a while. She was like saying all the clothes are nice but the price is defintely not nice. Went to Zara and stuff, that's the only shop I know.

Afterwards it was Marche! Best place on earth to eat potatoes. Told NaNa that they've got the best potatoes ever made and she was quite excited to try. I ordered my Rosti and Jerry wasn't hungry. Went around with NaNa to find her food and she found a salad shop worth eating. She "tapped" the card and then to find out she couldn't order some vege, it was a different category from what she had ordered. She then wanted a refund but couldn't bear to do it. I couldn't bear to to it too. In the end, we stood there for 2 minutes and waited for the guy to come back. Had a refund then NaNa bought a fruit cake.

As you can see from the pic below(Nana: Is my editing good or what?!):

Then she kept dropping food on her newly bought backs, she talked about her "Cursed hands". How true! LOL!
Jerry and I was amused to find a picture of a girl inside her wallet, we were like, is that your girlfriend or what?!

My Rosti, or rather, Jerry's one too, he ordered one of them.

Then here's NaNa once again.

THAT'S ALL! Nice little outing

It's now time to start Lost Marathoning again!

Today has been a busy day with rushed meals, a microwave lasagne at lunchtime, and some sandwiches and a milkshake from Tesco before dashing our for Annual Appeal collecting in the evening. The day was spent in the office on administration, having several conversations, amongst other things - but I was especially pleased to be able to get out in the afternoon and make a pastoral visit, and make some pastoral telephone enquiries. As you perhaps know from reading my posts, I am always on the look out for photo opportunities - the above photo is an old plough in a garden in Scotter, a village outside Gainsborough.

ORIGINAL: 21-06-2008

First post in English. I'm not going to write a lot *not very talkative right now*. Instead, I'm leaving here a CTRL+C CTRL+V gift. My favourite song by The Cure (maybe)

The Cure

Album: Kiss me, Kiss me, Kiss me

(1987)

Source: http://www.lyricsdepot.com

Listent to it on YouTube

You want to know why I hate you?
Well I'll try and explain...
You remember that day in Paris
When we wandered through the rain
And promised to each other
That we'd always think the same
And dreamed that dream
To be two souls as one
And stopped just as the sun set
And waited for the night
Outside a glittering building
Of glittering glass and burning light...
And in the road before us
Stood a weary greyish man
Who held a child upon his back
A small boy by the hand
The three of them were dressed in rags
And thinner than the air
And all six eyes stared fixedly on you

The father's eyes said "Beautiful!
How beautiful you are!"
The boy's eyes said
"How beautiful!
She shimmers like a star!"
The childs eyes uttered nothing
But a mute and utter joy
And filled my heart with shame for us
At the way we are

I turned to look at you
To read my thoughts upon your face
And gazed so deep into your eyes
So beautiful and strange
Until you spoke
And showed me understanding is a dream
"I hate these people staring
Make them go away from me!"

The fathers eyes said "Beautiful!
How beautiful you are!"
The boys eyes said
"How beautiful! She glitters like a star!"
The child's eyes uttered joy
And stilled my heart with sadness
For the way we are

And this is why I hate you
And how I understand
That no-one ever knows or loves another

Or loves another

*********************************************************

I'll explain myself: the two last lines make this song "my favourite" because the 80% of the time, I think this is true. And, for those plenty of joy and love in their hearts, I think the rest of the song shows perfectly why and how a person can reach to this conclusions. Dissapointment, alienation and sorrow.

: o I'm trying to be poetic here, this way is more useful for my English practice. Shut up, Ted! (q)

You know Austin is big when we have an Ultra Lounge (Pangaea) AND a Cookie Lounge. One of the top 10

You know Austin is big when we have an Ultra Lounge (Pangaea) AND a Cookie Lounge. One of the top 10 pastry chefs in the nation, Mark Chapman, former executive pastry chef at the Driskill, schemed up Cookie Lounge as a customizable cookie shop and delivery service.

Here's the main draw: customers choose from six cookie dough options and more than 30 mix-ins--from M&Ms and marshmallows to more indulgent ingredients like French chocolate, goji berries, sundried cherries, and toasted pistachios sprinkled with sea salt. You can even design gluten-free oatmeal cookies!

Though the place doesn't open 'til mid-October (sorry to get your hopes up), it will also be a kick-back destination with cozy work spaces, free wi-fi, french-press coffee, and hand-spun milkshakes. Plus, the Cookie Lounge will offer locally farmed milks in a variety of fat contents, from double whole to skim milk, as well as other options like soy and almond milk--I'm super-excited about that! You can barely find locally-farmed milks at grocery stores, much less restaurants! In West Campus, it's sure to become a UT fave.

Entrepreneur-backer Artie Rogers says of the concept, "Most sweets just turn up the notch on sugar, but Mark pays great attention to ingredients and knows how to add an element of sophistication to a good, old-fashioned cookie."

Dedicated to eco-friendly business, Cookie Lounge provides cookie delivery services throughout Central Austin with a fleet of human- and electric-powered mopeds.

Start working out now, mid-October will be here before you know it ...

I remember when we first got Bootsie. I was at the birthday party of one of my friends at the time

I remember when we first got Bootsie. I was at the birthday party of one of my friends at the time, back in like first grade I think. On the ride home from the party I remember gaining the knowledge of us having a new kitty, named Bootsie. The name had been given to her by her last owners, because of her four white paws. I guess the name sounds strange at first, but hey, she was a cat, and I never had a problem with it.

Bootsie hated other cats. She’d scowl at them. When we got our all black kitten we named Chip, she would hold him down with her paw. Bootsie was the cat of the house, I think. The outside, like the yard and everything, was her territory. She’d go out every day and patrol, and she’d do that a few times a day, I think. She used to lay at the top of a slide we had on the swingset in the yard, and one time I saw her actually climbing up the ladder to get to it. Straight up, paw over paw. That was awesome. She and Chip would hunt sometimes, too. One time one of them brought a live bird into the house, I think. I’m pretty sure that was either Chip or Bootsie. The things were gifts. Thanks, guys.

Bootsie was affectionate. She used to really like me a lot. She’d curl up with me every night. She’d sleep in my bed, try to take my pillow, crawl underneath the sheets and then come up so that she was about to my chest before lying down. We’d snuggle up. I forget why that stopped. I think that’s when I stopped letting cats into my room.

At one point earlier this year we saw blood in Bootsie’s pee. Not pleasant. Not too long after that Bootsie started getting hungry all the time. Like, all the time. Soon she was diagnosed with diabetes, and she had to take insulin. She took the shots like it was nothing at all. I think that was because she was so old. She was like, 90 in cat years. My Dad was the one who gave her the shots. I don’t think I’d have been good at that. And she lived. She was old and had diabetes, but that was part of the age.

Even more recently, a few days ago in fact, she began throwing up a lot. Like, vomit that reeked way more than it should have, imo. My Dad took her to the vet today, where they said her kidneys were failing. They put her to sleep. I don’t wanna make other people feel sad or bad, or feel like they should feel bad, but I think Bootsie deserves remembering. She fucking rocked. Twelve years of awesomeness, and she outlived both our cat Chip and our dog Harley, after being born before both. Right now, we still have Twilight, whom we got when we still had Chip, Flurry, whom we got after we had lost Chip, and Mooch, a gray shabby homeless cat that we feed. Bootsie was the best of them. She lived a great life for any housepet, I think, and I’m glad we could help with that. She was ours. We were hers. Rest in peace, Bootsie.
