Google has been trying to evangelise the whole world into cloud computing and guess its really recorded a major success in doing it with its self-proclaimed competitors the Redmond giants also announcing its plans to release an operating system that would rely on the data in their data centers. Untill recently many of the   MS executives were swearing at cloud computing saying the desktop is and will be the future and now this bomb shell. Craig Mundie the personal computing pioneer admitted that the desktop computing is the future. With Ballmer agreeing that "Windows Cloud" the name of the cloud computing based OS from the stable of Micro soft is in line to release it has trigerred speculation that the giants project code-named Reddog is something connected to this. This though is in no way connected to the Windows 7. It has tagged its Cloud based OS as "software + Services" as opposed to the Google & Salesforce.com's version of Cloud as SaaS. Also with Microsoft gearing up for the PDC this 'd be official in there. The OS uses the server virtualisation software that runs software on a single physical system and can be used to transport the apps from one server to the other. Well as for now the thing is still in the garage ready for the build up. Though one thing is pretty noticeable can you hear any noise in the tech world. Ok no ones interested I guess.

Chetumal.- Agentes federales catearon la empresa Compuplanet ubicada en la ciudad de Chetumal después de que se denuncio el uso de software pirata, hay cinco detenidos entre ellos el dueño del negocio de nombre José Chan Buenfil.

En el cateo se comprobó que al menos una decena de computadoras tenían instalado software pirata por lo que tres empleados, el gerente y el dueño de la empresa fueron detenidos en calidad de presentados.

En el operativo participaron unos seis elementos de la Agencia Federal de Investigación y al menos dos expertos en software que fueron enviados por la empresa Microsoft, líder mundial en programas para computadoras.

De acuerdo a las autoridades de la Procuraduría General de la Republica, el delito de marca constituye violaciones a la Ley Federal de Derechos de Autor y la Ley de la Propiedad Industrial, las cuales sancionan esta actividad con multas hasta por 20 mil salarios mínimos diarios, y el Código Penal Federal la sanciona con prisión de tres a diez años y de dos mil a 20 mil días de multa.

Cabe mencionar que el código de procedimientos penales tipifica a este delito como grave, lo que significa que los acusados no podrán de gozar la libertad bajo fianza durante el proceso judicial en su contra.

Las autoridades de la Procuraduría General de la Republica, informaron que esta es una campaña nacional y a la fecha, mediante el esfuerzo de constante vigilancia del canal de ensambladores en el país, se han detectado a más de 705 ensambladores en distintas partes de la republica ofreciendo y comercializando software ilegalmente.

Se dijo que la Procuraduría General de la Republica (PGR) ha realizado mas de 26 operativos policíacos en distintos bazares, locales comerciales y establecimientos de fabricación y venta en distintas partes de la republica para sancionar a aquellos ensambladores detectados vendiendo y ofreciendo software ilegal y que a pesar de las notificaciones y advertencias al respecto, continuaron con su ilícita actividad.

Il mese scorso si è molto parlato dell'acquisto di una nuova promettente tecnologia da parte dell'azienda di Redmond: U-Prove è stata dapprima adocchiata e in seguito acquistata da Microsoft, che ne ha intravisto l'enorme potenziale applicativo. Questo sistema, sviluppato in seno a Credentica dal crittografo Stefan Brands e dai suoi colleghi, sarebbe in grado di scongiurare, con una certa efficacia, le fughe dei dati personali online. U-Prove promette di impedire che i siti web colleghino i dati delle transazioni alle informazioni personali degli utenti.

A seguito dell'operazione commerciale, sono state riproposte alcune osservazioni sulla politica di Microsoft riguardante la gestione delle informazioni personali degli utenti: l'azienda, già accusata in passato di operare ambiguamente nell'ambito della tutela della privacy, viene ora interrogata sul recente acquisto. C'è chi ritiene che grazie a questa mossa Redmond possa estendere ancor più la propria presenza nella gestione delle identità degli account.

Sulla vicenda sembrano essersi consolidati due fronti opposti. Alcuni esperti considerano l'acquisto delle licenze di U-Prove un importante passo in avanti nella protezione della privacy. Altri invece esprimono preoccupazione per il possibile blocco che Microsoft potrebbe imporre sugli algoritmi della nuova tecnologia. Ben Laurie, guru inglese della privacy e fondatore di Apache Software Foundation rientra in quest'ultima categoria: in un'intervista, Laurie ha manifestato qualche dubbio sulle nobili intenzioni di Microsoft di rendere il nuovo sistema di sicurezza accessibile alla concorrenza.

Al contrario, Brands e i dirigenti Microsoft vorrebbero sopire tali timori. Secondo alcune testimonianze, l'azienda assicurerà l'interoperabilità tra le varie piattaforme, garantendo così una piena gestione delle diverse identità nella tutela della privacy. I nuovi algoritmi saranno integrati nelle identità d'accesso Microsoft a partire dalla metà del 2009. Per il futuro, la società prevede inoltre di aprire al mondo l'interfaccia di programmazione dell'applicazione.

Pero como no todo es así de tranqui... ya hay iniciativas que buscan justamente lo contrario... hacer saber que seguimos queriendo Windows XP para rato. Una de estas inicitativas es SafeXP.

Το Google Sites φιλοδοξεί να ανταγωνιστεί το αντίστοιχο SharePoint της Microsoft, το οποίο όμως απαιτεί από τις εταιρείες να αγοράσουν άδειες χρήσης και να αποκτήσουν δική τους υποδομή για την υπηρεσία. Αντίθετα, οι δικτυακοί τόποι συνεργασίας που δημιουργούνται στο Google Sites παραμένουν αποθηκευμένα σε διακομιστές της ίδιας της Google, ώστε οι χρήστες να μπορούν να έχουν πρόσβαση στις σελίδες τους όπου κι αν βρίσκονται.

Η υπηρεσία της Google επιτρέπει σε απλούς χρήστες να στήσουν το δικό τους intranet (κλειστό εταιρικό δίκτυο) και να δημιουργήσουν ιστοσελίδες που μπορούν να εμπλουτιστούν με συνδέσμους, ημερολόγια, φωτογραφίες, βίντεο, παρουσιάσεις και άλλο υλικό. Το Google Sites έρχεται να προστεθεί σε μια σειρά από άλλες διαδικτυακές εφαρμογές γραφείου που έχει παρουσιάσει η Google με την ονομασία Google Apps. Non so se questo video sia vero o un fake, fatto sta che comunque alcune "applicazioni" che si vedono in questo video sono innovative e, come da copione della microsoft, sono MOOOLTO simili a programmi già esistenti su altri Sistemi Operativi! (a un certo punto del video si vede una copia del front row del Mac :D )

So to me they are really copying the iphone but putting a mircosoft spin on it.The screen will of course be like the iphone with a touch display.

According to the document, Microsoft has created a camera device to detect motion,offering motion control without the need for complex accelerometer and gyroscopes.

The phone is capble of skipping tracks with a shake of the phone.The new media player is promised to have improved.

The internet explorer is also improved with a fullscreen tabbed browsing with the option to swap pages by shaking the phone.

Still I think the iphone is the top dog but hey you never know until it comes out but it just doesn't appeal to me as much as the iphone OS.

The main points of this announcement are:

• Services exposed through controls have no user limits or fees.
• Sites or Web applications with fewer than one million UUs pay no fees. With some restrictions on the usage levels of Search, Virtual Earth and Silverlight Streaming services.
• Once the service emerges from beta, sites or Web applications with more than one million UUs will be charged USD $0.25 per UU per year for the covered services or will engage in ad revenue sharing with MSFT.
• For Search and Virtual Earth, sites using more than the limits on free services will need to conclude commercial agreements with Microsoft outside of the $0.25 per UU/year noted above.
• The one million UU threshold will be measured as a quarterly average, to smooth out usage spikes that sites may experience

The Restrictions placed on search, Virtual Earth and Silverlight Streaming are summarised as:

• Search: free up to 750,000 search queries/month
• Virtual Earth: free up to 3 million map tiles/month
• Silverlight Streaming: free up to 4GB storage and unlimited outbound streaming, and no limit on the number of users that can view those streams

This is great news for people who wish to use Microsoft services for their own sites and of course Mash-up makers as these terms are much simpler than anything previously from Google or Microsoft. It will give developers more confidence to build on these new Microsoft technologies and should hopefully speed up adoption.

It will be interesting to see if Google decides to change its Terms of Use in the wake of this announcement as Microsoft has “upped the ante” with this announcement. This can only mean good things for developers as these two big companies fight it out for devlopers.

This is part of a huge week of announcements from Microsoft and really seems to point towards Microsoft shifting some of its strategies in the web sphere.

A matéria, no link http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/pubs/vista_cost.html, cita questões sobre o uso de hardware, a autenticação de drivers, o bloqueio de drivers open-source ou alternativos, por chekagem hardware/software (o "tilt-bit"), problemas de desempenho devido a criptografia (ele criptograva tudo que vai pra I/O), e muitas outras coisas.

Acho que mesmo sem este artigo, estava bem claro que o Vista seria uma perda de desempenho para algo que não interessa ao usuário, e sim a Microsoft e a industria, e este artigo veio consolidar com fatos esta posição.

ADENDO: O leitor "usucapiao" acrescentou o link http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/ati_nvidia_hdcp_support/page2.asp que cita especificamente a proteção da saída de conteúdo protegido pelas adaptadoras gráficas. Gostaria de salientar o seguinte comentário:

Porque precisa ter controle nos dados transportados entre as controladoras?
