Web 2.0 ist keine neue Browserart und keine Software, die man sich in irgendeiner Form herunterladen muss. Es handelt sich hierbei vielmehr um einen Sammelbegriff zur Definition einer neuen Internetgeneration, die sich über einen längeren Zeitraum entwickelt hat. Das Internet und dessen Seitengestaltung im klassischen Sinne, sind Webseiten, deren Inhalt von einzelnen Anbietern, Firmen oder Privatpersonen gestaltet wurden und vor allem, deren Inhalte auch nur von diesen Menschen gestaltet wurden.

Der Unterschied besteht nun darin, dass Internetseiten, die auf Web2.0 basieren nicht von Einzelpersonen gestaltet werden, sondern von der Gesamtheit der Nutzer. Hier hat jeder die Möglichkeit, sich zu registrieren und den Inhalt der Seiten zu beeinflussen. (themenguide, wikipedia)

Szene1 hat zum Beispiel bereits einen Messenger integriert. Szene1 ist eine Plattform in der österreichische (besonders bekannt in OÖ) Jugendliche kommunizieren und chatten können. Auf dieser Plattform können auch Fotos und Videos veröffentlicht werden.

No tengo ni Messenger ni google talk, es la primera respuesta que le doy a mis amigos cuando me preguntan si tengo algún cliente de mensajería para ubicarme ya que en general no me gusta chatear, para los que me conocen saben que tengo un par de cuentas en gmail y msn, las que suelo ocupar para comunicarme esporadicamente con amigos o clientes (uso facebook), administrar sitios, correos o bien ordenar mis suscripciones a news.

En fin, para los que les gusta chatear un equipo sin MSN en un ciber cafe, en el pc de un amigo (por ejemplo el mío) o bien en el trabajo suele ser un martirio, de hecho mi amigo "Lu" no encontraba la forma de comunicarse con sus amistades en la oficina.

Es un hecho que son pocas las empresas.. bueno, y a su vez los empleados que le brindan un uso práctico a los clientes de mensajeria instantanea. Flirteos virtuales, conversaciones excesivas son algunos de los ingredientes que condimentan y por que no decirlo, "frien" la disponibilidad de nuestros empleadores de dejar a libre disposicion estas herramientas de comunicación a los empleados.

Asumiendo que en la red siempre podemos encontrar herramientas que nos faciliten el acceso a las aplicaciones bloqueadas encontre hace un par de meses meebo, el cual es una web que permite conectarte a diversas plataformas de mensajería instantanea, como AIM, YAHOO!, MESSENGER, ICQ, GOOGLE TALK o MSN, basta con indicar tu correo o nombre de usuario y contraseña y puedes comenzar a chatear libremente.

Conceptualmente la interface trabaja por medio de ventanas, muy simple e intuitiva de usar, es, como pueden apreciar multiprotocolo (por eso te permite conectarte con distintos clientes de mensajeria)... y se encuentra programada en ajax, por ende una aplicacion muy liviana, funcionalista y casi un calco de las aplicaciones de escritorio.

En el caso que meebo se encuentre bloqueado por algún firewall o proxy meebo lanzó meebo repeater, una herramienta que permite a los usuarios configurar sus propios proxies para acceder al servicio desde una PC con Windows..... ya que la mayoría  de los adminstradores no bloquea el tráfico en el puerto 443 (HTTPS), 
por lo tanto es todavía posible conectarse al servicio.

I enjoy Radiohead's music only once in a great while...but I appreciate their non-traditional and counter-culture efforts towards video creation, song sharing, business models and the like. In a traditional, top-down, centralized command and control industry like music, they are making waves and doing things differently. As Apple once marketed "Think Different".

The redundancy you see in some cases is deliberate and you can consider it as risk management. I also use various synchronization programs, all freely available to synch online services on the web with my Nokia N95 8GB and Windows Vista desktop, the latter is mainly to ensure high availability of my data in the absence of an Internet connection or when a service is offline. Google Gears takes care of my data from many of their online services with an offline mode synched to my desktop, so I use this as well. I'm using the free versions of all of the services I've listed, which completely fills my needs for now. I use the Firefox 3 browser almost exclusively, but I'm also testing Google Chrome. To ensure ultimate portability "on the go" I keep some open source portable applications, including a Firefox 3 browser with all of my addons and plugins along with Google Chrome, on a 2GB USB memory stick on my keychain.

I've kept this post relatively short because I plan to go deeper into detail later about these and other web apps I'm using. I mainly wanted to start a dialogue about the use of these web apps and their lessening of our dependence on the desktop and local storage, so I'm looking forward to seeing your comments about your own experiences.  I've already become fairly comfortable living in my browser as a denizen of cyberspace, what about you?

Now let’s move to the internet world which actually is a forest and then we have several websites offering same services. This made people to think on why not try to take the pain of maintaining similar service on multiple site from the user and help them with the concept of shopping mall. The outcome was called Web Aggregation. Its there from quite a while.

Lets take a few examples like meebo which aggregates you IM\Messenger and there you can maintain all you messenger simultaneously. A plugin also comes to add this to your blog so that you can chat with your reader. Blogging has taken quite a good place in our internet life hence we cant ignore the blog aggregators.

Other example could be on the email side where even as of now we can view different email on our desktop client. Though it might also look awesome to have over the web provided the complexity has been handled properly along with nice UI. We find a lot of social websites, travel sites, e-commerce websites and this list is very long to be put here though the point is basically to work on taking them to a common platform and let the user manage them easily on you aggregator.

The program was pitched as “Web 2.0 makes headlines, but how does it make money? Businesses both large and small are thinking exponentially and powering up with new and creative online opportunities.”

I was asked by ZDNet blogger, Jennifer Leggio, to do a guest blog on the evening and here’s what I wrote “Inside Web 2.0” – a newbie’s perspective.

My girl Jae Dee is applying for a new job. She downloaded a job application from the company's website. It is in PDF format. She wanted to know how to type in the info instead of handwriting it. I was able to walk her through it via meebo instant messaging.

I used to do this kind of PDF manipulation a lot whilst I worked as a desktop publisher at Kinko's. I imported the PDF files into Adobe PageMaker and then was able to type information into the forms.

I didn't want her to go through the hassle of pirating Adobe software just to add some text to a PDF file. I knew of a better option. Inkscape to the rescue.

Inkscape is a free and open source cross platform vector graphics editor application (That's a mouthful). She first had to update Mac OS X to 10.5.5, update her X11 to 2.3.1, and then install Inkscape.

Once Inkscape was installed, she imported the PDF job application and used the text tool to type into the fields. When she was done, she saved it as a new PDF file and was able to print it out with all the info neatly filled out.

I think employers will be quite impressed with the typed in job application instead of the plain old handwritten ones like everyone else does. Happy job hunting Jae Dee!
