A mi me gusto mucho.

Autrice sarà Nina Matsumoto, disegnatrice che nei mesi scorsi si era fatta notare sul web con alcuni disegni (tra i quali una versione manga dei Simpson che le ha fornito una serie di occasioni di lavoro) e che già ha disegnato la famiglia più famosa d'america sull'albo del Free Comic Book Day di quest’anno.
La storia sarà di 15 pagine e sarà scritta da Ian Boothby.

Nel ricordarvi che in Italia i fumetti dei Simpson sono editi da Rizzoli, vi proponiamo l'anteprima di una vignetta e l'illustrazione che l'anno scorso ha aperto la strada a questo progetto.

Argumento de la serie

Los Simpson (en inglés, The Simpsons) es una serie de sitcom animado estadounidense creada por Matt Groening para la Fox Broadcasting Company y emitida en varios países del mundo. La serie es una sátira y crítica hacia la sociedad estadounidense (su forma de vida, sus valores, sus prejuicios, su sistema político, etc.), en palabras de su creador Groening, que narra la vida y el día a día de una familia de clase media estadounidense — cuyos miembros son Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa y Maggie — que vive en un pueblo ficticio llamado Springfield (en Estados Unidos hay 26 localidades con el mismo nombre).

La serie fue concebida por Groening de la producción de una serie de cortos con el productor James L. Brooks. Groening creó una familia disfuncional y nombró a sus personajes en honor a los miembros de su propia familia, sustituyendo su propio nombre por Bart. Los cortos se convirtieron en parte de The Tracey Ullman Show el 19 de abril de 1987,[2] pero después de tres temporadas se decidió convertir los cortos en una serie de episodios de media hora en prime time que se convirtió en un éxito de la cadena Fox, siendo la primera serie de la cadena en llegar al Top-30 de los ratings en una temporada (1992-1993).

La revista Time del 31 de diciembre de 1999 la llamó la mejor serie de siglo XX, y el 14 de enero de 2000 recibió una estrella en el Paseo de la Fama de Hollywood. Los Simpson es una de las series estadounidenses de dibujos animados de mayor duración.

Space Coyote es el nick de Nina Matsumoto, una joven artista canadiense, que saltó a la fama por sus versiones manga de Los Simpsons y Futurama, así como los crossovers de conocidas series de animé, al estilo Los Simpsons. Tanto así, que Matt Groening le ofreció trabajar en Bongo Comics, para lanzar su propia serie de historietas basadas en la conocida familia de Springfield.

La misma Nina Matsumoto, a través de su blog, comentó que está trabajando en el especial de Halloween de los comics de Los Simpsons (Treehouse of Terror), en el cual se hará una parodia del exitoso manga y animé, Death Note. La imagen de arriba corresponde a uno de los primeros trabajos que hizo Space Coyote, en el cual dibujó a los personajes de ese mismo manga en lo que ella llama "estilo Matt Groening".

The new mega-attraction showcases everything the popular television series has made famous and that Simpsons fans love – a great story, humor and irreverence that are pure Simpsons with original animation starring  many of the show’s instantly recognizable characters, voiced by the original actors.

 America’s favorite animated family officially arrived in Orlando on May 15, 2008, when “The Simpsons Ride” celebrated its grand opening. In an unprecedented collaboration, Executive Producer James L. Brooks, Creator Matt Groening and Executive Producer Al Jean in association with 20th Century Fox Television and the creative teams of Gracie Films and Universal Theme Parks accomplished what had never been done before – the  launch of the world’s first authentic Simpsons mega-attraction.

The millionth rider, Dion Fenderson, was on vacation in Orlando from the Detroit suburb of Eastpointe with his wife, LaTika, and two sons, Dion (11) and Dylan (6).

Class dismissed.

The song is called "Psyché Rock" by Pierre Henry and was made in 1967. Later on, it was remixed and made into the Futurama theme song.

L'IAV (Institut d'Art Visuel) d'Orléans a organisé un petit voyage à Annecy pour ses étudiants. Le but ,pour eux, était de rencontrer des professionnels de l'animation et de visionner les nouvelles créations.

Alexandre, notre designer préféré, faisait évidement partie du voyage. Ce petit veinard a rencontré Matt Groening, le créateur des Simpson.

Depuis leur rencontre, Alexandre travaille sur un projet : réaliser un reportage sur le festival d'Annecy tout en gardant l'esprit Simpson (dessins, humour...)

Une fois son travail terminé, il l'enverra à Matt Groening. Rien de tel que l'avis d'un expert!

Bien que très contents pour lui, nous avons un peu peur que sa notoriété explose et qu'il finisse par nous délaisser. En effet, depuis le début du projet, son aide a été précieuse. ;)

At some point over the past couple years I’ve become a Futurama junkie. I never paid much attention to it when it was rolled out by Fox. It seemed like a poor follow-up to The Simpsons. Fox’s chronic mistreatment of the show didn’t much help me catch later episodes, and it was only when the show went on heavy rotation on Adult Swim that I began to truly appreciate the storytelling layers beyond the sci-fi geek jokiness.

The characters are all likeable folk (though I can take or leave Zoidberg) who over the course of a couple seasons evolved into three-dimensional two-dimensional figures. The stories are engaging, too, managing to serve up a host of sci-fi tropes and clichés and spin most of them into immensely satisfying episodes. And unlike its forerunner The Simpsons (in whose shadow, Futurama ultimately withered) and the deluge of mean-spirited, trash-talking cartoons that would follow, Futurama’s stories have heart. Sure, some are silly, but most are surprisingly affecting. Who can’t sympathize with poor Fry in the episode “Time Keeps on Slipping” when he literally moves the stars to show his love for Leela, only to have his constellation blown up before she had a chance to see it? (Something similar happened to me once with a yoga instructor I had a crush on…only without the time paradox and moving the stars part) And I defy anyone to watch the episode “Jurassic Bark” without tearing up at the end (except you, TenFeet—you have ice-water in your veins).

Until now I’d had to get my Futurama fix with the series DVDs. They’ve got surprising longevity, since the commentary tracks are worth the price alone. Co-Creator David X. Cohen plays supremely nerdy scout master to a collection of rambunctious voice artists. However, Futurama is reborn in a series of direct-to-DVD movies. Yay! The second in the series, Beast with a Billion Backs proves to be a marked improvement over the first Bender’s Big Score (which I’m not reviewing here, because I don’t want to). And if it lacks the effectiveness of the series’ best episodes, it’s still good to spend some time in the Futurama world again.

Beast with a Billion Backs takes up more or less where BBS left off—that is, with an enormous rift torn in the fabric of the Universe. Fry has a new girlfriend (whose unremarkable voice is provided by Brittany Murphy). And Amy and Kif finally get married. [Oh, and if you’re not familiar with the characters, read up on the show online or watch the DVDs…I’m not going to explain five seasons of characters and relationships to you, you lazy sack.] Unfortunately, the rift throws all these events into disarray as giant tentacles emerge from it and begin taking over the minds of everyone on Earth.

The idea of a mind-controlling alien which makes its victims love him unconditionally and live in harmony bonded by their love of it is clearly a swipe at religion, and likely the influence of Cohen (himself an atheist). It’s workable, if clunky, and most of the movie’s middle-section (and tightest part) focuses on Leela’s attempt as the last un-converted person on Earth to unravel the mystery of the tentacle monster. When the movie emerges from Invasion of the Body Snatchers mode about three-quarters of the way through it makes a dramatic left turn into another movie completely. It’s almost as if Cohen and company finished with their script, only to find it coming up fifteen minutes or so short.

Still, for all the unevenness of the script, the movie plays to its strengths. Zapp Brannigan is back and in fine form: “Leela! It looks like we’re going to have to repopulate the world. You brush your teeth. I’ll be waiting under this sexy quesadilla.” And, of course, Bender’s back. BBS erred in a huge way by making Bender a mindless pawn for much of its runtime, since it drained much of the life out of the movie. Let’s face it: Bender is the “alcoholic, chain-smoking, whore-mongering” id-monster that exists in all of us. When I’m tempted to use our databases to look up old girlfriends, it’s not a devil, but a tiny Bender that appears on my shoulder, puffing a Camacho, and urging me, “go ahead…see what fat, loser she ended up with. You know those dweebs at the NSA do it all the time.”

Yet Bender’s misanthropy is always ultimately endearing. Whether he’s innocently asking, “Wait? You had a life before you met me?” or passing himself off as a Pharaoh and casually enslaving his friends and co-workers so they can build a massive monument to him, Bender is like that uncle at the family get-together who gets drunk, tells hilarious stories late into the night, and then takes you out on the river so you can go fishing with his favorite machine-gun (gosh, I miss the Green Bay relatives…)

Beast with a Billion Backs lacks a bravura action sequence like the one that caps off BBS, but it’s loads funnier and less plot-intensive. It’s not the best story Futurama has ever told, but it’s still good to spend time with these folks again.

Especially Bender.

Now the reason Futurama is worth mentioning here is that it has what is perhaps the most highly educated writing staff for a show in television history.  Amongst the writers are:

David X. Cohen who studied physics at Harvard and computer science at Berkley.

Ken Keeler who has a PhD in applied mathematics from Harvard University and who spent time at Bell Labs.

Jeff Westbrook a former professor of computer science at Yale.

Kristin Gore, novelist and the daughter of the former Vice-President.

The end result is one of the best pieces of science-fiction television has ever seen.  The show pokes almost equal fun at society and advanced physics.  The previous dvd release even had a math lecture as a special feature!  This is a show that just understands all the unexplainable aspects of geekdom (like our love of fight pits, killer robots, and penguins with shotguns).  It's also perhaps the most environmentally conscious show ever, with regular environmental themed episodes (often featuring guest appearances by Al Gore) and carbon-neutral dvd packaging.

Précis: Futurama movie number two of four is focused on the theme of love ... examined through a plot about an inter-universe rift and a planet-sized tentacle monster.  Most importantly though, it's funnier than the first Futurama film!

Good news everyone! Futurama, the animated sci-fi comedy show created by Matt Groening, continues its afterlife with the release of the second of four post-television movies: The Beast with a Billion Backs. The Futurama fan base is large and diverse, so some of you will inevitably dispute my assessment - but let me tell you: The Beast with a Billion Backs is much better than the first Futurama movie. To quote one high profile film scholar, Bender's Big Score was a "weak, boring disappointment". Inexplicably, Beast with a Billion Backs is just a whole lot cleverer and funnier. The difference between the two is like watching a bad Futurama episode (like, say, The Deep South or That's Lobstertainment!) and watching a pretty good one (like, say, Godfellas or The Farnsworth Parabox). Who knows what changed in the well-populated Futurama team - but it was the right thing. Beast with a Billion Backs is like the good old days of Futurama again. The jokes come frequently, they're a combo of slapstick, black, offbeat and witty, and it's all couched in the kind of sci-fi action that tickles your nerd centre.

Hopefully viewers know the premise of this show already. The movie doesn't take any time to bring outsiders up to speed. No help from me - read the premise of the show if you need some background. Beast isn't as "fans only" as the first Futurama Movie though, and there are less in-jokes. You're also fine to watch this movie without having seen Bender's Big Score.  The Beast With a Billion Backs gets straight into it: within the first five seconds, space has ripped open leaving an inter-universal portal hovering above New New York (presumably this was caused by Bender's careless time-hopping in the previous film). Terrified earthlings are beginning to grow exhausted from pointing at it and screaming. It's the kind of parallel-universe premise that Futurama loves (I also love it). But, in case the title didn't already alert you, you'll soon realise that this second Futurama film is mainly a big riff on the topic of love and sex. Despite the hovering gash in their universe, our main characters are largely concerned with romance:  Fry is preoccupied with his new girlfriend's fancy for polygamy and Kif and Amy are headed to Kif's home world to take part in a swampy, otherworldly marriage ceremony.

Meanwhile, Professor Farnsworth - aided by arch-rival Professor Wernstrom and the super-powered head of Stephen Hawking - investigates the anomaly.  In a typical Futurama parody, scientific efforts are brushed aside by the brash American president (the delightfully cantankerous Nixon's head) who launches an all out military assault on the parallel world.  "Hell of a thing to send a universe to certain doom... ", philosophises mission leader Zap Brannigan, "Fun though! Makes a man feel big!" Of course, incorrigible robot Bender also has a primary plot thread, as he plays with his fellow robots (including one of my favourites - the pompous soap-star, Calculon) searching for a mythical cult called "The League of Robots". He's in fairly good form in this film, irascible and amoral as ever.

That's just the beginning really. Messing with the anomaly soon unleashes an almighty universe-altering adventure, featuring a tentacled Casanova, voiced by David Cross. I won't go into detail, but it's another one of those extravagant sci-fi ideas for which Futurama is well known. This one adds a little dash of philosophical weirdity too, which I quite enjoyed. Potentially it has a level of absurdity that might not gel with everyone. Me? I love the absurdity. It's kind of a War of the Worlds meets Everybody Loves Raymond caper that allows the love/sex theme to take centre stage. As you'd expect, the background to the film is also bustling with neat, nerdish ideas and parodies of modern life.

But the only reason these traits actually shine is that they are housed in 90 minutes that mostly stays sharp and funny. For me, that's where the previous movie lost it. Beast with a Billion Backs is not off-the-scale funny - not all the jokes hit home - but there are still enough winners to make it pretty enjoyable. My biggest struggle was with the film's meandering plot. I think it might be hard to stretch the Futurama style over 90 minutes, and the plot sometimes clunks forward a bit awkwardly. After so many jokey sidetracks you might start to wish there was something sturdier at the core. But there's the rub: which do you want? It's difficult to pump out constant irreverent humour and still maintain intricate plotting and deep characters. So, hey, overall I'm satisfied.

I lamented in my last review that the Futurama movies could do better than Bender's Big Score. Effort number two, The Beast with a Billion Backs,  is a decent step up. It's at least made sure it's delivered on its core promise: there are plenty of moments to make you laugh!

LAST night Senator Homer J. Simpson (pictured) shocked the political world by winning the presidential election to beat Republican governor of Shelbyville, billionaire and nuclear power plant magnate Montgomery Burns to become the 44nd president of the United States of America

Barack Obama (pictured) also made history by becoming the first ever African-American vice- president.

Aged 44, the Springfield senator becomes the youngest president in US history smashing the previous record held by Republican Theodore Roosevelt and John  F. Kennedy.

It also saw a return to the Oval Office for the Democratic Party since Bill Clinton’s eight year term in office, between the years 1993-2001.

This marks an incredible achievement for Simpson who comes from no political background to that of Burns whose father Jeffrey was a distinguished Republican Speaker of the United House of Representatives for thirty years.

His mother Susan was a Supreme Court defence lawyer and legal adviser.

Coming from a very humble working class background to Abraham and Amber Simpson, his father worked all hours as a sheet metal worker, hoping that one day his son would be able to change the 19^th century Republican policies of Laissez-faire and rugged individualism that had divided America.

This year’s general election brought a very high turnout for the Democratic Party with over 200 million Americans casting their votes.

The president- elect secured a landslide in the popular vote winning 56.4% of the vote to Mr Burns’ 37.6%, while Ned Flanders (PIctured) of the Independent Party trailing behind with just 6% of the vote.

Simpson also won comfortably as far as the electoral vote was concerned gaining 7,630,457 votes to 5,083,880 of Mr Burns.

The results make interesting reading in that they show the Democrats to have secured expected resounding victories in the key Democratic states such as Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa, New Mexico and his vice president Obama’s hometown- Illinois.

But, they also secured surprising victories in Red Republican states such as Nevada, Colorado and Minnesota.

Analysts believe that shock victories in Republican states, but most of all victories in large sunshine states such as Florida played a crucial part in the outcome of the election.

Unlike his opponent, Simpson spent a large part of his general election campaigning hard to appeal to Republican red states in terms of the economy, foreign policy on the war in Iraq, national security, education and universal health care and this appears to have pulled off.

Simpson and his running mate Barack Obama conducted a whistle-stop bus tour of America in the final few days in the run up to the presidential result.

It was seen as why some Republican supporters voted for the Democratic Party.

In a poll, 67% of Americans said they feared a Chernobyl type disaster under a Burns administration.

Montgomery Burns (PIctured) spent an estimated $80 million dollars of his own money on his campaign and certainly bought style and glamour to the campaign with his designer watches, expensivec and his use of private jets to campaign rallies.

At dawn Montgomery Burns telephoned Simpson to offer him his congratulations on his victory.

Waylon Smithers, (Pictured), Burns’ lifelong friend, personal assistant and running mate also congratulated Simpson for what he described as being “one of the most closely fought campaigns in American history.”

Simpson addressed a rally in his home town of Springfield and promised to “speak up for the needs of every American citizen every day for the next four years.”

Barack Obama added: “America has given itself the opportunity to start a fresh.

The failures of the Bush- Cheney Republican government can never be forgotten, but it is now the time for the Democratic Party to show the world that we are the party to sort out America’s problems and change America for the better.”

Simpson began the campaign a year ago a relative unknown figure in politics.

But a theme of ‘change’ and shock primary victories in Iowa and Illinois gave Simpson a huge run of momentum which saw him win the next 12 primaries and secure the Democratic nomination and the majority of the super delegates.

A fledging economy and the war in Iraq have tarnished Bush’s domestic and international popularity.

In his victory speech, Simpson payed tribute to his wife Marge and children Bart and Lisa for their support and his deceased parents “who had made him the person he was today.”

He also payed tribute to outgoing President George W Bush who after 8 years “had done everything he could to yield peace and democracy to Middle East civilians."

Bush said that “he had every confidence in Simpson to make the tough decisions to protect the security of the greatest country in the world and its people."

Mr Bush remains president until Simpson is inaugurated next January.

Cartoonists have envisaged President Simpson sat in the Oval Office in his trademark casual white shirt.

Hace un par de semanas se lanzó la 2ª de las 4 películas que Fox tiene previsto realizar sobre la genial serie creada por Matt Groening, en esta ocasión con el nombre de "The beast with a Billion Backs".

Pude verla hace unos días, y ciertamente ahora más que nunca puedo decir con seguridad que es una auténtica lástima que la serie se cancelase, ya que desde luego ideas no faltan -no se puede decir lo mismo de Los Simpsons, en la actualidad-.

Para los interesados, podéis encontrarla por las redes P2P, así como subtítulos en castellano (que a estas alturas, imagino que estarán bastante pulidos xD)... yo esperaré a que salgan las 4 películas juntas para comprarlas :p

For today's post, I will comment on their No. 1 picks. This does not, in my opinion, constitute a "spoiler," since the lists are readily available for anyone to see on the EW website. But I did think about whether it was, so if anyone feels strongly about not seeing the number one picks, stop reading now.

No. 1 Movie: Pulp Fiction: Seen it. I'm sure there are other movies that I feel equally worthy of the number one title, but I can't quibble too much. Particularly since the film, written by Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avary, has such a bonanza of quoteworthy dialogue (although strictly in an R-rated sense; trying to find a non-F-bomb quote for you all was rather a challenge):

Fabienne (Maria de Medeiros): I was looking at myself in the mirror.
Butch (Bruce Willis): Uh-huh?
Fabienne: I wish I had a pot.
Butch: You were lookin' in the mirror and you wish you had some pot?
Fabienne: A pot. A pot belly. Pot bellies are sexy.
Butch: Well you should be happy, 'cause you do.
Fabienne: Shut up, Fatso! I don't have a pot! I have a bit of a tummy, like Madonna when she did "Lucky Star," it's not the same thing.
Butch: I didn't realize there was a difference between a tummy and a pot belly.
Fabienne: The difference is huge.
Butch: You want me to have a pot?
Fabienne: No. Pot bellies make a man look either oafish, or like a gorilla. But on a woman, a pot belly is very sexy. The rest of you is normal. Normal face, normal legs, normal hips, normal ass, but with a big, perfectly round pot belly. If I had one, I'd wear a tee-shirt two sizes too small to accentuate it.
Butch: You think guys would find that attractive?
Fabienne: I don't give a damn what men find attractive. It's unfortunate what we find pleasing to the touch and pleasing to the eye is seldom the same.

No. 1 Television Show: The Simpsons. Seen it. Now again, I could quibble. My choice would have been The Wire, which EW has down ALL the way at number 11. But, having been a fan of Marge and Homer and the gang for most of the three million years the series has been on, I can't be too upset at the pick. There is a list of writing credits for the show as long as my arm, but since IMdb reports that James L. Brooks, Matt Groening, and Sam Simon each have 420 episodes to their name, I'll give them the lion's share of the credit. From phrases that have entered the American iconography - "Mmmm, donuts" and "D'oh!" to name just two, to longer pieces of dialogue that have left me weeping with laughter, the writing on this show has never been mediocre, and has often been great. It's not often you can say that about a show.

Bart: [after they watch a foreign film] I was so bored I cut the pony tail off the guy in front of us. [holds pony tail to his head] Look at me, I'm a grad student. I'm 30 years old and I made $600 last year.
Marge: Bart, don't make fun of grad students. They've just made a terrible life choice.

Or. . .

Marge: Careful of that apple pie on the back seat...
Grampa: Uh-oh.
Marge: Grampa, are you sitting on the pie?
Grampa: I sure hope so.

No. 1 Book: The Road, by Cormac McCarthy. As I just reviewed this book a couple months ago, I'm at peace with this choice as well. It's brilliant and heartbreaking and accessible, and the upcoming movie will star Viggo Mortensen. Mmm, Viggo Mortensen.

Un nou film (de lung metraj)  din seria Futurama, ne prilejuieshte inca o data reintalnirea cu simpaticele personaje din serialul omonim, dupa parere mea unul dintre cele mai amuzante seriale de animatzie existente. De data asta, Fry, Leela, Bender shi restul de la " Planet Express " au de-a face cu un univers paralel, din care vine o planeta  cu milioane de tentacule, care incearca sa-i interconecteze pe totzii pamintenii, in timp ce Bendrer cauta disperat sa faca parte din celebra si misterioasa " Liga a Robotzilor " . Scenariul e la fel de tampit ca toate celelalte dinainte, un perfect cadru pt a lua la mishto cultura fast food americana si reuseshte sa starneasca hohote de ras de fiecare data, fix cum ne-a obishnuit genialul Matt Groening inca de la " the Simpsons" ! Pentru fanii serialului e un "must-see", iar pt ceilaltzi, un foarte bun prilej pt a rade in hohote !!!!     VIEW TRAILER

Η κλισαρισμένη έκφραση you're either going to love it or hate it (που είναι τόσο λανθασμένη με την ασπρόμαυρη λογική της) στην συγκεκριμένη περίπτωση είναι απόλυτα σωστή.

Η αλήθεια είναι πως ακόμη και σήμερα είναι μια μοναδική εμπειρία να ακούσει κανείς για πρώτη φορά το Trout Mask Replica. 28 κομμάτια που ο ελεύθερος ρυθμός και η διαφορετικότητα τους σε αγγίζει από τις πρώτες νότες:

Η αντίδρασή σου σε αυτό είναι απόλυτα φυσιολογική. Η μουσική σε ξενίζει, οι στίχοι σε παραξενεύουν, ο ήχος ακούγεται παράφωνος και κακά ηχογραφημένος. Είσαι σίγουρος, είναι πραγματικά το 'χειρότερο πράγμα που έχεις ακούσει στην ζωή σου'.

Όμως, το ουσιαστικό με το Trout Mask Replica είναι πως αντίστοιχα μεγάλη και μοναδική εμπειρία είναι το δεύτερο και το τρίτο και το εκατοστό άκουσμα του δίσκου. Γιατί ξαφνικά αντιλαμβάνεσαι πως υπάρχει μια τάξη μέσα σε αυτό το απόλυτο ακουστικό χάος. Μια τάξη ορισμένη από κανόνες των blues (και συγκεκριμένα των Delta Blues), της free form jazz, του κλασικού R&B, σε συνδυασμό με σχετικά σουρεαλιστικούς στίχους που συνυφαίνονται σε ένα καλλιτεχνικό δημιούργημα που η αξία και η ουσία του είναι ακριβώς η ίδια του η δημιουργία (λίγο σαν έναν πίνακα abstract expressionism που o Captain Beefheart άλλωστε τον γνωρίζει πολύ καλά) . Ακούγωντας τον δίσκο ξανά και ξανά αντιλαμβάνεσαι πως μπορεί να ακούγεται 'χάλια' αλλά αυτό το 'χάλια' είναι ηθελημένο και πολύ καλά μελετημένο (η έκφραση είναι του Matt Groening) και κομμάτια από αυτή την παραφωνία κολλάνε στο μυαλό σου σαν βδέλλες. Σύντομα θες να ξανακούσεις το δίσκο, ξανά και ξανά και κει συντελείται η υπέρβαση, από το 'αίσχος' στο 'αριστούργημα'.

H δημιουργία του δίσκου, είναι αποτέλεσμα της μεγαλοφυΐας και της σιδηράς πειθαρχίας του Captain Beefheart πάνω στην Magic Band. Για οκτώ περίπου μήνες η ομάδα ζούσε μια κοινοβιακή ζωή σε μια καλύβα, αποκομμένη από τον υπόλοιπο κόσμο, σε συνθήκες απόλυτης στέρησης (υπάρχουν ιστορίες για την πείνα των μελών) σε συνεχόμενες πρόβες που έφταναν και τις δεκαέξι ώρες την ημέρα. Ο ήχος του δίσκου φαίνεται πως ήταν σχηματισμένος στο μυαλό του Captain Beefheart με όλες του τις λεπτομέρειες και όλη η πορεία ήταν η ανάπτυξη του σε ακουστικές συχνότητες από τα υπόλοιπα μέλη της ομάδας. Το αποτέλεσμα εμφανίστηκε του Ιούνιο του 1969 και διατηρεί σταθερή την ίδια αντίδραση από το κοινό. Άριστούργημα ή αίσχος, τελικά its in the ear of the beholder.

Post Scriptum

Ίσως η πιο απίστευτη εμφάνιση του δίσκου να είναι αυτή στα χέρια της Paris Hilton:

που αναδύθηκε στο διαδίκτυο πριν δυο χρόνια. Βρίσκω πως η media attention seeker Paris μάλλον δεν είχε πολλά να κερδίσει κρατώντας το εκκεντρικό και αμφιλεγόμενο Trout Mask Replica. Να είναι άραγε αυτό σημάδι πως υπάρχει τάξη τελικά στο χαοτικό κεφάλι της;

Van passar els anys i van aparèixer nous canals i un d'aquests va programar, gairebé seguits i adaptant-se bastant al meu horari dues sèries de culte. Una ja la he dit, Futurama. Gran sèrie amb grans personatges com en Fry o en Bender, per exemple. L'altra, una sèrie de dibuixos animats que s'ha convertit en la nineta dels meus ulls i que intento no perdrem mai és Padre de família. Vindria a ser una espècie de Simpsons però modernitzat i amb la sàtira que caracteritzava a la serie de les personetes grogues (bé, en realitat amb molta més) i ficant molt més el dit en la llaga, ficant-se més (i millor, amb més mala bava) amb tot i en tothom. M'agrada. Quin és el problema? LaSexta està fent el mateix que Antena3: no segueix les temporades sinó que programa els capítols com vol i acabarà passant el mateix que amb la meva exsèrie preferida durant tants i tants anys.

No cabe duda que el estilo artístico de Matt Groening es inconfundible y ver sus versiones de Hell boy y ahora de Dragon Ball Z son todo un deleite a la pupila.
