Hi everyone
This is a run through and review of what happened on my upgrade and my opinion on the OS

Hi everyone

This is a run through and review of what happened on my upgrade and my opinion on the OS.

Installation

I backed up my drive using Carbon Copy Cloner, this is much better than SuperDuper and a little bit faster. It automatically sets the copy to be bootable which is very good. This took about 2 hours in all.

With my back up at the ready in case of a backfire during installation, I popped in the OS X Leopard Installation DvD. It came up with a friendly window like many app installer windows. I opened the OS X Installer straightaway and filled out the install form. I restarted my Macbook and on log in it began to install, I was able to skip the DvD verification as the disc has been used successfully on another Mac running Tiger. The installation took about 2 hours to complete. Then I restarted again and it was done.

I had a few updates installed via the Software Update and I am now running on an up to date MacBook

My opinion of Leopard

Leopard is a great OS, it has loads of new features.

Stacks enables the user to click on a folder icon or stack icon on the Dock ,files spew forth from the icon in a beautiful fan like motion. I use this to house my Graphics and Downloads and it works great.

Now Coverflow is featured in Finder to make it easier for the user to access files, images and videos in Finder ,It's great, I find it easier and more stylish to browse my files and videos now.

Photobooth has a few more effects, Greenscreen or Bluescreen allows the user to import him or herself into a rollercoaster, space, a polka-dot background and many more. It also enables the user to take 4 photos in quick succesionof each other. I find the effetcs good, but they only work nicely with a greenscreen or bluescreen.

How can I forget the Dock? It's great, the icons on the Dock have their own dynamic reflections and the active application indicator is a nice glowing rectangle. The menu bar is now transparent and lets 50% of the wallpaper through without losing text and icon visibility, depending on the wallpaper you have, I am using Aurora, it's really nice and it's the iconic Leopard wallpaper.

Overall, Leopard is a great, amazing OS and I personally love it.

Thanks

Big cats, calculated and superb killers include the tiger, lion, jaguar, leopard, puma, snow leopard

Big cats, calculated and superb killers include the tiger, lion, jaguar, leopard, puma, snow leopard and cheetah. The lion is the king of the beasts. Weighing as much as 450 pounds it is a formadible predator . Lions generally rest in the heat of the morning. They may look like gentle creatures but they are the most lethal among africa`s killers .Lions generally eat animals as small as a hare to anything as large as a buffalo. Hunting together brings more success. Keen eyesight helps them hunt in the night . When they finally catch their prey they go straight for its wind pipe . With their bellies full they rest in the morning and prepare themselves for another night of killing .

From the open plains, moving to the rainforests of South America, one of the most inhospitable terrain on the planet a perfect stealth predator is lurking . The jaguar is the third biggest cat in the world after the tiger and the lion . If you live in the rainforest you need stealth, surprise, great eyesight and shrap claws. The jaguar has the strongest bite of any cat . It takes on prey as small as a beetle and sometimes as large as a caiman . This time it is hunting for terrapins (turtle) . Jaguars are excellent swimmers , but the turtle has a good defence,a hard shell on the top . But the jaguar`s strong jaws go right through the turtle`s defence . Peckories are pig like grazers. They are all meat and no shell. An ideal and favorite prey for the jaguar, peckories dont have good eyesight but have an excellent sence of smell . They have scent glands on their backs which help them to stay together . When the jaguar is on a hunt and a peckory heads too far, the jaguar pounces . The south american indians give the jaguar a name "yaguara" ,a beast that kills its prey with one bite . Its a very accurate description . Jaguars blend and adapt superbly proving that they are built for the kill.

It stalks in the himalayan mountains, a creature shrouded in myth and legend. Its soft paws help it climb even the steepest mountains. It is the snow leopard . Weighing as much as 150 pounds it is a creature well adapted to living in the mountains . Snow leopards feed on mountain goats and the occasional wild boar . Snow leopards are found in India , Bhutan and China.

The world`s fastest land animal is the cheetah . It reaches a top speed of 112 km/hr and has the ability to accelerate from 0-100 in three seconds, faster than most supercars . The cheetah feeds on thomsons gazelle , springboks and even larger animals including zebras and wildebeeste . Cheetahs usually lose their cubs to other predators, especially to lions. When cheetahs go to hunt they hide their cubs, else if a lion finds them, it is pretty much game over . When cubs do survive and grow up they gang up with their mother and steal the lion`s kill right under its nose.

The master of stealth and surprise is the leopard . Excellent eyesight and hearing are the key factors. Their paws are soft and so even when they step on leaves they don`t alert their prey . It is the most adaptable of all the big cats . Leopards are found in Africa and Asia . A leopards` prey consists of impalas , zebras and wildebeeste in Africa , cheetal and other types of deer in India. Leopards are nocturnal hunters . They are solitary animals and always hunt alone . The leopard stalks its prey silently and gives it one bite to the throat . Unlike the cheetahs a leopard can climb trees . They keep their prey in high branches where many predators cant get to them . If you want to design a predator you design a leopard .

The largest of all the big cats is the tiger . A male bengal tiger can weigh as much as 550 pounds . They are ambush predators and feed on monkeys , cheethals and even young elephants . The monkeys are better at climbing than the tiger . But on ground they are easy prey . The bengal tiger has a big cousin living in Siberia . The Siberian tiger weighs as much as 600 pounds and is as long as a family car . The siberian tiger is a stealth predator ,its claws tear into the flesh of its prey and the canine snap into the spinal cord .

Cats truly are effecient killers . Their size , teeth , stealth , speed , claws , jaws and surprise show that they are built for the kill .

Tuesday the fourteenth of October we will know what’s going to be the future of the MacBook. But

Tuesday the fourteenth of October we will know what’s going to be the future of the MacBook. But at the moment there are some suspicions and very realistic rumors about the future MacBook.

What can already be confirmed is that the new MacBook will have a unique production process. Some say that it will be cut out of a block of aluminum as is done with some parts for very exclusive cars. With high speed water or sandbeams a design is cut out of a chunk of aluminum. This will give the MacBook a more solid look and will provide more strength for the case. Do not fear that the nice design will disappear, as we already noticed with the new Imac, aluminum is a fine material combined with the designing skills of Apple.

A more remarkable rumor is that there will be a cheaper version of the MacBook. If this MacBook will have the same production process and the same quality of the other MacBooks is not sure, but it could mean that the ceiling that Mac OSX is facing would disappear and Mac OSX will then be able to get the top marketshare and destroy windows. But the guys over in Redmond should not fear, Mac OSX will still only be distributed on Apple computers, which means that the other manufacturers will still use Windows as their main system. So it could be possible that you can get a MacBook for 1.000$ or €800. Keep in mind that the specifications for this MacBook may be not so spectacular.

Apple will also point the attention to gaming. Mac OSX is still an unknown platform for most gamers and that’s why Apple will include a more powerful (Nvidia) graphics card in all new models. This is another blow in the face for Microsoft, since windows is the only decent computer gaming platform at the moment.

The new MacBook will probably still appear in stores this year with Mac OSX Leopard as operating system. This means that you will still have to wait for a Mac with Mac OSX 11.6 “Snow Leopard” till January 2009.

We also don't know what will happen with the MacBook Air.

Apple sends out select invitations for notebooks related event today with the tag-line "The spotlights turns to notebooks." The event is set to take place at Apple's Town Hall in Cupertino. Based on rumors and speculations, Apple will be introducing it's new notebooks line-up. Numerous pictures are hitting the web claiming to be the part of the new Apple notebooks.

To summarize the currently circulating rumors and leaks, Apple will be dropping the Polycarbonate MacBook in favor of new Aluminum MacBook. Price point is set to be as low as $800.00 for the entry level notebook.

According to our imaginary source who seems to be a pathological liar, who claims to be a person who works for Apple and is not Phil Schiller (again?), the new MacBook Pro will have the option for Quad-Core CPU. It will only be available for the larger model. We are not sure if that applies only for the 17-inch model or also for the 15-inch model. We are guessing the the Quad-Core option will be avialable for the 15-inch model. Our source assures us that the new Apple notebooks pack a surprise feature, but refuses to disclose further informations.

Other informations we receive is that Apple is also preparing new desktop line-up set to be unveiled in MacWorld San Francisco 2009, along with iLife '09 and iWork '09. New features of iLife '09 and iWork '09 will rely heavily on the "Core" system of Mac OS X (Core Animations, Core Graphics, etc.). It is said the certain fetaures are only available on Mac OS X Snow Leopard. Even though the date is set, Apple might choose to unveil the new iLife and iWork suite after MacWorld San Francisco 2009.

Don't worry if you have yet to see them, we have you cover with some cool pieces from a bunch. Releasing on February 1, 2009 (I know it is a long wait!), the collection range from about $45 to $450, while footwear ranges from about $120 to $250. Outrageous as Jeremy always is, I love the leopard zip up hoodies! It even has craws and tails on!

[caption id="" align="alignleft" width="351" caption="This photo is from the great Ars Technica"][/caption]

Apple sent a letter to some members of the media. Inside this "Letter" was information about the date of this event.

I find this event very exciting. From the very interesting rumors about new Macbooks & Macbook Pros. Some sagest a new method of producing them & with "Gophers & Pixies" [According to Mac OS Ken, 10.07.08 Highly Recommended].

Apple's stock has been flirting with the below $100 point on the market, which leads me to believe that Steve hopes that whatever comes out of this event [Could it be a new notebook perhaps?] may drive this stock up. I wrote a post, which had the Apple's stock point over $150. I said it would be good to buy, and I believe now would be a good time to buy.

If Apple finally updates the Macbook models, I'm sure it will be a welcome improvement, with rumors of glass track pads, and Firewire 800, Price points of the books falling under $1000. I'm hoping for Blu-Ray support, and major design improvements. The current one is getting old.

[caption id="" align="alignright" width="322" caption="From Wired"][/caption]

What is amazing about this date? On October 14, 1964, Civil Rights Leader Martin Luther King Jr. was named winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. [According to the nytimes.com]...

[caption id="" align="alignleft" width="300" caption="thanks again ars technica"][/caption]

The thing I don't want is Apple to take a bite of something that they can't chew. We got that already, from MobileMe, though it works like a charm now, I'de rather have another "Music" event, than this.

What this means to me is that if they are announcing this on October 14, then they must have something rather large in plan for Macworld.
