Grindhouse presents: 6 days in Milano with Daniel Prell, Jason Adriani and Giorgio Öhlers

Friday 11th - Saturday 12th April 2008
Unexpectedly my new camera (ebay) arrived some minutes before I had to take the bus to town. After locking my stuff at the main train station I „wasted“ the time till my train left on the local „Bierfest“.
12 hours and 3 different trains later I arrived in Milano. Jason Adriani, Grindhouse Flowrider and McDonalds employee met me at the station. ---> read the rest of the story

Probably everybody who once was in Milan knows the office, the place where all the rollerbladers from all over europe are welcome. Anyway, after catching Giorgio Öhlers (latests Grindhouse teamrider and Winterclash Am winner) we met „everybody“ there. More than 20 guys staying in the same „room“ among them Mihai „spintogrind“ Bivol. While some of the guys decided to go to the skatepark and “practice” Giorgio, me and some others preferred to check out the new bowl which has been built 10 minutes away from the office. Before leaving I mounted a new Element frame and a new set of wheels (flat setup). On the way we stopped for a quick droprail session. Giorgio and me each had 4 tries till the woman, owning the balcony with the rail, friendly asked us not to destroy her property. Nevertheless Giorgio first try nugend the rail and nearly torqued it while I did topsoul, backroyal, topacid and nearly soyal.

Stealing sk8boardstickers is bad... (click to enlarge)

The bowl is really cool – I guess everybody would love to have it that close to his home...We had a nice session there and filmed a line from Giorgio. I guess one of his ancestors must have been a kangaroo cause this guy jumps higher than normal humans can.
After buying 6 big beers we took the train (without paying) to the skatepark. 1 meter before the entrance my plastic bag ripped and a bottle of the precious liquid broke.
Entrance to the park and inscription was 15€ - I didn`t want to compete cause I just started skating 1 week before due to my knee surgery. Competitors got a set of wheels for free so a guy who didn`t want to compete persuaded me to do so and gave me the 15€ for the wheels ;)

There where a lot of people in the park, the session was amazing, except I didn`t skate cause I didn`t like the small obstacles in the park and it was too crowded to skate anything else. While I watched Jason truetopside the shit out of the handrail I finally could spend some time with my good old friend beer. During the whole day there was more or less good live musik.

The competition: There where 3 rounds for each of the two groups, amateur and superamateur. Everybody skated too good. Unfortunately Jason didn`t make it to the finals...
I probably should mention some tricks: Jason true topside EVERYTHING on the rail first try!
Giorgio did the roundcurb to miniramp transfer highspeed backnugen 720 gap! Or Backnugen up the box 360 soul down! Mihai desaster 540 true miszou always first try, also ao soul.
Of coures there was more to be seen like an amazing desaster 540 truespin soul!!! But for the tricks you can check the edits.
After the competition there was more beer (as if I didn`t already had enough), live music and the miniramp „competition“ with disco ambiente.

Somehow the evening is a blur of drinking beer, falling asleep and the award ceremony. Jasons little brother Gabriel won amateur – an RB skate and clothes while I won superamateuer and the Grindhouse best trick competition (300€) though nobody knows what exactly the best trick was, maybe savanna to ao topsoul 270° on the fence behind the quater.
Back in the office I fell asleep on the floor while Jason went back to the park (2 times) to catch all the guys.

Sunday 13.April 2008
When I woke up I noticed why it might have been a bad idea after several months of being “injured” to start skating with a competition, pain everywhere, worst aching muscles ever!
Giorgio had to leave his hotel early so we didn`t see him again, most of the other guys also left this morning. Jason, the guys from Neapel and me decided to do some sightseeing: The Dome, the Ferrarishop, the McDonalds, ...

After this cultural shock we visited the bowl – well we tried to – the police somehow didn`t like the sight of us climbing over the fence. What could we do? Grab some Italian pizza (and beer) and try again later. When we finally succeeded in climbing over the fence we started a session – well I started filming and the others had a session. Though nearly everybody had some bad falls – Gabriel fell deep while stalling a pole behind the big cradle and Christian (winner best chick) slipped and fell on his broken hand.

The day ended when a kind McDonald employee asked us to leave – maybe the foodfight was a bit too much for him... Probably its not worth mentioning that we didn`t pay for the tram the whole day, maybe its more interesting that one of the guys from Neapel tried to earn money by cleaning windshields from cars stopping at a nearby traffic light – of course that didn`t work.

Monday 14th April 2008
First time I woke up it was due to the cleaning woman making more noise than something that makes a lot of noise – I decided to ignore her and get some more sleep. Probably that was a mistake cause when Jason arrived at 11 o`clock we couldn`t find my wrist cast. After paying a visit to the toilet at least I knew which part of my body hurt the most – blue balls anyone?

Also I noticed that Milano is f*king expensive – 10€ for bread, salami, milk, citron and some chocolate – but at least the salamicitronbread was pretty good.

After the cleaning woman came back and “found” the cast, we took the car and drove to Milano3 to skate a spot – unfortunately it started raining. We spend the rest of the day driving around in Jasons car, meeting his girlfriend, buying chips that taste like dog food, .... In the evening we went to a nice Italian restaurant and ate more than you can imagine! When we came back home Gabriel learned to play fear of the dark in less than 30 minutes and we filmed it having some weird idea for the edit in mind.

Tuesday 15th April 2008
Jason arrived at 10 which of course was too early. Today my muscles hurt even worse than before (today is the 22nd and my ass still hurts – ok im gonna stop crying like a baby). Perfect weather -> No breakfast -> 1st spot: a rail to rail transfer – unfortunately opposite a police station so we decided to skate a rail to bank first. Jason landed a royal to bank 2nd try – I tried bank to topsoul on the rail under the rail – nearly had it 2 times but then we had to leave cause a worker carried pieces of art worth 100.000€ each through the approach. Some meters to the left it took Jason only some tries to land the rail to rail transfer perfectly without being bothered by the police.

2nd spot: a kinkrail close to the wall and a double kinkrail. Not perfect but perfectly skatable. J topsouled it pretty much first try but had some trouble with topacid cause it was really close to the wall but after some minutes he impressed the watching crowd of hot Italian girls by perfectly landing it. I succeeded in landing a cab darkside topsoul on the doublerail. This was the only spot we skated without trouble but only cause we waited till the police left the scene before starting to skate.

3rd spot: a freaking perfect up flat down rail but unfortunately the police decided that it was time for a traffic control right in front of the rail right during the warm up session.

4th spot: a nice little rail to gap. Jason decided to ignore the fucked up landing and cleared it perfectly with topsoul 540 out. It took me some time to explain my aching muscles that they had to skate again but when I succeeded I managed to land a zerospin topsoyal 360 out and some more less impressive tricks. A nice old lady informed us that what we where doing was horrible and that when she was young something like that would not have been possible and that maybe it would be better for us to leave. Beside the fact that the rubber part of my inear headphones got constantly stuck in my ear nothing special happened on the way back to the car. I stayed at the office and Jason went to work at McDonalds – at 1 o`clock he brought me more McFood than I could eat (1 Bigmac, 4 Hamburgers, loads of fries, loads of chicken wings, shrimps, ...)

Wednesday 16th April 2008
For me the day started as usual: Jason woke me up at 11. I couldn`t find my toothbrush cause the cleaning woman put it in my backpack, pain making it nearly impossible to put my shoes on, wasting too much money for food...

As this was the last day of the minimilantour we decided to go back to the Milan3 roundrail that we couldn`t skate last time. Jason laced torquesoul and acid pretty fast but till he landed the truespin topsoul it took some time – but hey tts on this rail is f*king hard. After lacing topsoul, topacid, sweaty, switch topporn and some other stuff first try I returned the favor by taking ages to lace an alleyoop soul. All together we skated there for at least 3-4 hours. After the bruise between my legs established direct contact with the rail I somehow wasn`t really juiced to continue the session... But well, we filmed some nice clips there. Back in the office Jason decided to take his self made rail for a ride. Together with his brother he carried it 10 minutes to the closest park and they skatet a nice session – don`t ask me how but Jason laced all the truetopsidetricks without knocking the rail over.

When we returned to the office I had 30 minutes to pack my stuff. Due to the 2 coups and the new clothes I won my backpack was close to causing a nuclear explosion but finally I managed to close it. God bless the Kizerbackpack!!! 18 exhausting hours later I opened my front door and dropped dead on my bed.

Text: Mr. Prell

Pictures: sorry, my outlook deleted all the emails and I cant remember your name – shame on me! Anybody can help out???

Interview with Daniel Prell

02 Jul 2008, by mS

I think I first heard of Daniel Prell at an X-Battle in Barcelona, where he pulled some of the most insane skating I had ever seen, including 450 back royale on a hand rail, which I think was the first I had ever seen. He has consistently won contests across Europe since then, and is one of those skaters that are always at the top of their game. Not only is his skating a force to be reckoned with, but he is also one of the most loyal, responsible and professional skaters out there, always the first to try new products, to promote his sponsors and represent them to the fullest. After a long stretch of injury, he is back, and has already won the first two contests he has skated in.

Pic Alex AMF

Read on to discover more about Daniel Prell.

OliBenet: All right Daniel, introduce yourself, where do you live, what is your full name and what is your age?

Daniel Prell: My name is Daniel Prell, I am from south Germany, a small town called Augsburg and since last Saturday I’m 27.

Pic AMF

OliBenet: No way! you're 27? haha I can't believe you are even older than me, I had no idea. How does that feel?

Daniel Prell: Beside that my knees act like they where 60, being 27 is quite cool, you can finally get the grown up girls.

OliBenet: haha so do you have an old woman with you now? Are you into that old people porn and stuff?

Daniel Prell: Ahhhhhh! stop that - no of course not! Were talking about 23+ girls not 30+
But on the other hand - there are some quite hot 30+ - but i guess im too young to mess with them - at least for most of them!

Cab disaster royale. Pic Bastirocks

OliBenet: Ok well let’s take this off granny porn, and get into skating. Cab disaster royale Now it seems Daniel Prell was everywhere a year ago, and then sort of disappeared for a while, what happened?

Daniel Prell: I heard he had some serious knee problems. After what must have been the 7th knee surgery the doctors didn’t really know what to do anymore. They said they couldn’t help and I had to live with it like it was... It took a long time in the gym/rehab to build up enough muscles to support the knee and take away some of the pressure before I could slowly start skating again...

OliBenet: So how has it been since you started skating again? How long were you out for exactly?

Daniel Prell: I don’t really know - I spend a lot of time in the gym and at parties - so every day was more or less the same. The best thing probably is that I made some new friends outside rollerblading that im spending lots of time with.

OliBenet: Old people? haha, so do you think its safe to skate now? Doesn't it worry you?

Daniel Prell: People in wheelchairs mostly!
Skating is never "safe" - that would take a lot fun out of it. I’m more concerned about my health now than I was back in the day. I can’t skate every day any more, injuries take longer to heal, but still skating is what I want to do - I enjoy every single moment on skates. Mind over matter.

Pic: AMF

OliBenet: So how has skating been for you since you got back? Can you still rock or do you suck now?

Daniel Prell: The first real session I skated after my injury was in Milano, the milf town competition - somehow I managed to win it - but my muscles hurt for nearly a whole week after that.
After that I decided that it was about time to skate more again, I started travelling again - Strasbourg, Berlin, Hannover, Sestri levante, where I won an other competition (tied with USD’s Roman Abrate)
I still haven’t totally recovered and tricks like switch soul hurt as hell, but seemingly I can still do tricks and have loads of fun with my thrones but specially in skateparks I notice that it’ll take some more time to regain the strength I need for certain big tricks..

OliBenet: So who do you skate for right now?

Daniel Prell: So what do we have there: Grindhouse – Europe’s favourite skate shop, USD - simply the best, Kizer - so in love, Stygma - what you see me wearing most of the time, Undercover - what makes me roll. AND Gibbon slacklines.

OliBenet: that company that makes elastic bands? What do you do for them?

Daniel Prell: You might call it that, yes.
I used slacklines for my rehab - they are perfect to train the small muscles that stabilize ones knee. Beside that you can skate them perfectly – they are like a transportable spot - perfect for transfers and s*it like that.
Till now our deal is quiet new - but ill provide them with pictures and footage, and if I can find the time I will go with them to exhibitions.

OliBenet: That’s pretty funny, but pretty cool too, I wouldn’t mind trying one. Allright, so what is your skate setup right now?

Daniel Prell: Ill probably be carrying one around with me next time we meet.
Haha my setup ok:
Black UFS Thrones left: blue cuff, black buckle. Right: red cuff, white buckle
Sifika Sl 310 Slim liners, Kizer Air Heel shock absorbers, Kizer arrow bearings, Kizer Element frame, UC team wheels.

Pic AMF

OliBenet: Where can people see you over the coming months? What are your current projects?

Daniel Prell: Im all spontaneous, whenever I hear about a cool event ill try to go there. Next things Ill do for sure are: Summerclash, Inline Games Hannover, the Italian roller league competitions, The German championship competitions. Ill also come up with edits about most of the events I’ll visit - you can check them on my page: danielll.wordpress.com
Next one to come: Milano and after that sestri levante...

OliBenet: Ok, well thanks, is there anything else you would like to say?

Daniel Prell: Try to skate flat rocker!!! Kizer Element frames are a totally "new" way of enjoying rollerblading. 4 wheels down is so much more fun to skate - and that’s the reason why we all started – fun. Shout outs? Now? Later? Never?

Pic AMF

OliBenet: Thats funny, i was thinking of skating flat rocker in my elements. Shout outs now!!

Daniel Prell: Greta!!!
Team-mates! Specially Lepszy! Alex Rudolf! Alex! Mr. Spring, Tias, Olfert, Raik, Mes amis fraincais.
damn there are too many - the right people know that they are in my mind!

Daniel Prell: Oh! The most important one: Thanks mom!

OliBenet: no, the most important one is me, obviously

Daniel Prell: But you know that i love you so I don’t have to say that anymore! but you’re right: Thans Oli for finding time to do this, thanks for believing in me, thanks to Matze and Bauer from powerslide for everything!!!

OliBenet: Aw that’s nice, I wasn’t being serious! Oh well, thanks a lot Daniel!

Friday, 9th May 2008
Augsburg: I had massive trouble buying the train ticket to Strasbourg – maybe because I was really late and it was holiday season. Finally I bought a ticket for Saturday morning instead of Friday evening. That turned out to be a mistake cause I spent the whole Friday night totally drunk on a house party.

The train ride was awful. Somehow all the freaks decided to travel the same time as me, there was the retard son of a retard family trying to sexually abuse his sister, the incredible bad smelling french couple taking 4 seats when the train was so full that some people barely didn`t manage to enter (me for example), the ugly girl that cut herself shaving her eyebrows, and loads of others...

In Strasbourg Möly caught me at the train station. Together we walked to our hotel (10 minutes), checked in, walked back to the train station, bought cheap sunglasses (5,50€) and 9 liters of water and finally took the tram to the skatepark (without paying).

When we arrived in the park a french tv-team caught us of off guard and we gave the probably best double interview ever :) After that we wanted to skate some vert and stumbled directly in the vert competition. As my french sucks I somehow competed more or less unwillingly... The ramp is amazing!

The whole event was more like a huge festival – there where hundreds of spectators, loads of skaters, skateboarders and bikers, the weather was AMAZING and the beer cheap. I met a lot of good old friends and other amazing people, Tias Silhan, Salim, Al hooi, Ricardo Lino, Bruno Willemark, Julien Cudot, Stefane Alfano, Olfert, Adrien Anne, Kevin Lopez, ...

Tias somehow convinced me to compete though I only wanted to film and chill. I don`t know how but somehow falling from the fence of the bowl quarter 2 times (landing on the same graffiti guy both times) and lacing one topsoul on the same unfortunately was enough to qualify for the finals.

We spend the rest of the day filming for the edit, skating, chilling in the sun, just having a good time. The sessions where amazing, Julien Cudot, Möly, Al Hooi, Lino, Adrien Anne, ... you might want to watch the edit ;)

In the hotel I fell asleep while Möly was taking a shower and when it was my turn he fell asleep.
I really wanted to go to the party but after one night without sleep I just couldn`t stay awake...

Sunday, 10th May 2008
To describe my breakfast one word is enough: Huge!

While Möly was taking a shower I turned up the bath room heating – within one minute it must have been +40 degrees in the small room. The weather again was extremely hot so Mill and me decided to cut off the sleeves from our shirts what probably looked really sexy ;)

In the Skatepark we persuaded the guy from the pimped bike stand to let us try some of his bikes. Unfortunately Mr. Hooi droped the bike and the bike guy was really pissed.

The competition was amazing, Julien and Alfanos skating was off the hook – probably thats the reason why Alfano won and Julien placed 2nd. Nicolas constant sick skating assured him the 3rd place. Kevin won the vert comp with huge airs, a 900 McTwist and loads of other nice tricks while Julien placed 3rd. As I fimed the whole day you can see the best tricks in the edit (thanks Mill and Salim for helping with the filming).
For the price giving ceremony Olfert and me placed a bench in front of the funbox – unfortunately when they started the ceremony they turned their backs on us. But we just carried our bench to the other side and sat down in front of all the people. As we just bought some beers we where prepared to give the first place inline street the well earned beer shower – and what shall I say – Alfano likes beer showers at least as much as drinking beer.

When the event was close to an end they gave away all the beer and the hot dogs for free. We where allowed to enter the stand and make our own hot dogs – all the sauces where empty except one – I didn`t wonder why and took a lot of it. Which was a mistake as it turned out to be the most spicy, evil, superhot mustard ever. Every bite burned from deep in your chest till up in your nose but that didn`t stop us from eating it ;)

When the weather changed Olfert, Lino, Al and me took the gratis tram back to our hotel, Möly had already left and checked out while I decided to stay for one more night to join the street session the next day. In the hotel Olfert came to my room and we drank some vodka orange before he had to take the bus back to the Netherlands. After 30 minutes he came back cause he forgot his cellphone and ID. At about 1 a.m. Tias, Salim and the others came to our hotel to go with us to the party (which was only 15 minutes away from our hotel). When we arrived there a lot of rollerbladers where in front of the club – inside there was some crappy live music. We chilled there the whole night, Adrien Anne stole over 10 liters of beer from behind the bar, he also won 5€ from me for letting me rub a stinging-nettle on his eye. We left the party at about 5. In the hotel one elevator smelled like cheese-puke.

Monday, 12th May 2008

I woke up when the telephone rang: Hello? - Hello this is the reception you had to leave 1 hour ago, if you don`t stay one more night you have to leave now. Thank you.
I packed my stuff and luckily remembered that Lino and Hooi had room number 536 and they also where still there. I fooled the reception and payed only 70€ for 2 days in a 2 persons room. By “free” tram we went to Tias Silhans place. Cause I`m so clever I forgot to leave some of my stuff there and brought everything to the street session. But before we started to skate we got stuck in a McDonalds. Why try something new when you can have food you`ve had a thousand times before?

Together with Al I went to the station to check out our trains, Al decided to leave the next day, don`t ask me how, he told me about two booked flights or something like that... I had to pay for the TGV 1st class cause the 2nd was already full.

The street session was amazing. Alfano rolled down a roof and jumped a huge gap, everybody killed the ledges at the first spot. On our way to the 2nd spot the police stopped first Mr. Silhan for getting pulled by a car and then the same thing happened to us. The rails at the 2nd spot where perfect, pretty steep, left and right side – amazing tricks – check the edit.

Best trick here was a girl riding her bike against a fence! On the way to the next spot I did a huge square drop rail with royal and cab royal – I hate royal but it was too square for soul tricks.

The 3rd spot was the rainbow rail but due to the fact that I`ve already skated it during the Grindhouse tour and I only had 40 minutes till my train left I didn`t skate it. Mihai and his friend came with me to the trainstation – we where really late and didn`t know the way but in the train an old black man with bavarian accent called Jean-Pierre helped us. He studied in my hometown and even knew the tram lines, what a funny incident. 2 Stations before the main train station Mihais friend left us cause he saw the car he left his shoes in. Somehow he managed to arrive at the station just minutes after us. My train was 30 minutes late an on the german part of the travel I got kicked from the first class ;)

Thanks to everybody who made this trip possible. Thanks Grindhouse and The Conference for supporting the event. NL3 was amazing – and NL4 is going to be even better!

Cu next year!

The re-use of single-use medical devices has again attracted the attention of the popular media, this time the Wall Street Journal.

The article quotes a study of devices manufactured by Medtronic. The study found that new devices were of excellent quality but "a majority of reprocessed devices had corroded parts and traces of human hair and protein, bringing into question the effectiveness of the reprocessing efforts."

This stands in stark contrast to the comments from Kenneth Kizer, MD, MPH who stated "single-use labeling is a real scam for a lot of devices, and by not using reprocessed devices where possible it is wasteful and not environmentally responsive, since these items have to be disposed of as biomedical waste." Dr. Kizer continues: "The reuse of medical devices that are labeled for single-use only is a well-established and safe practice regulated by the FDA and utilized by most of the top-ranked hospitals in the country."

This is only partly true. The FDA strictly regulates the original device. The FDA has some oversight for reprocessing but it was only 2002 that the FDA required these devices to be marked as reprocessed. Safety has yet to be definitively determined. Top hospitals re-use to save money, not to improve care. After all what patient would say his/her care is improved by implanting "corroded parts and traces of human hair and protein" into him/her? Some hospitals may be concerned about waste material but only because they pay to haul it away.

For now the safest thing for patients is to insist on disclosure of the use of reprocessed devices. If reprocessed devices are to be used ask about cost differences to you the patient. Do not hesitate to insist on new devices- especially if there's no cost difference and now demonstrable equality of quality.

It's your health. Take it seriously and take care.

About 1910, the community of Kizer (2 miles south of Bradley) was large enough to have its own school. The following photos were taken of an item called a school “Souvenir.” The “Souvenir” is bound in light cardboard and has two folded sheets of paper inside, making a total of four pages. The “Souvenir” contains a poem, “Opportunity,” the name of a teacher, the pupils and the School Board. Other than the name of the printing company at the bottom of the poem, the “Souvenir” contains no advertising. Perhaps this was the early twentieth century, rural southwest Arkansas equivalent of today’s school yearbooks.

Friday, 7th September 2007 - closed shops, missing tents and expired tickets
I spend the whole afternoon in the city trying to find a shop that could repair the cast for my right hand - but of course they all where closed. Then I tried to get the packet containing my new Kizer element frame from the post office but the Lady didn`t want to give it to me cause my ID was expired - I took the next bus and 2 hours later I was back with my travel ID. Next thing to do was buying the ticket - I have to admit it was a bit complicated but it took 45 minutes till I held the reservation in my hands... -> Supermarket: Bread and Salami, Coke and Fanta -> home.
I also talked with Adrien Anne from France on Msn, he told me hes going to buy a tent to sleep in Sestri and I asked him to bring one for me too cause I left my tent in Italy after last years competition.

As usual the packing took way too long - maybe this time I was even slower than normal because it was the first day out of bed after 2 weeks of disease - though this time I found my I-pod immediately!
The taxi came at 9 pm - and of course I wasn`t ready to leave - so I decided to forget my laptop charger at home. Great...
The cab driver was pretty talkative and interested in skating...

For 20€ more I had a bed in the train. Now the interesting part: My interrail ticket expired the 7th - that means I could still use it from 10-12 pm. The problem was that the ticket is not valid in your home country - Germany in my case.
When the conductor came I tricked him into believing the ticket would expire the next day at noon and because I was only talking English he didn`t check my home country. In the end he left my 6 bed compartment saying something like: I don`t care, should the others deal with that. Luckily the others didn`t care and so after 14 hours I arrived in Milano Centrale.
Saturday, 8th September 2007 - ticket trouble, competition and camping
In Milano I really tried to buy a ticket but as I only had 20 minutes and there where at least 20 people waiting at the counter it was not possible and I took the train with only the reservation I made in Germany. In the train I fell asleep instantly. After some time Bisi (organizer of the competition) woke me up - I didn`t know that some skaters where in the same train - well he told me that my fellow Grindhouse teamriders Avichai and Jason where in the same train. After some searching I found them and spend the rest of the train ride with them. When the conductor came Bisi explained to her that this is my last travel with the interrail ticket (which expired the day before) and somehow it was ok - I went from Germany through Swiss to Italy without ticket. Nice...

Tired but happy we arrived in Sestri Levante where I was supposed to meet my friend and USD team mate Adrien Anne at the station - but as he wasn`t there I went to the skatepark with Jason and the others.

WhenI left Germany it was raining - in Sestri it was super hot. The first to enter the skatepark was Julien Cudot, I was second - we started skating a session and more and more people showed up - Roman Abrate, Adrien Anne, Jojo, and a lot more guys. The Grooveskatepark is pretty cool - a new wallride with coping on the top, and some other changes where made after last years competition. Roman Abrate started doing 360 royals and savanas from the bank on the rail, hes a mad good parkskater. But also Preusi and Mr. Obermaier destroyed the park with supertech tricks.
In the beginning I was feeling really flabby - no wonder after 2 weeks sickness without leaving my bed - but after some time I could at least skate a little. As usual it started with the amateur comp - then the pro comp went down - the best skaters qualified for the final and somehow I also qualified together with Julien Cudot, Avichai, Jason (ohhh all 4 GH teamriders in the final yüah) and some others...

After the competition I tried to convince nearly everybody to come with me to eat at a pizza place. I tried and tried for hours. In the meantime Bisi announced the Grindhouse best trick comp. Avi tried to fakie 720 true miszou the pyrabox and was extremely close to land it. I filmed him till Bisi said its only 4 minutes left - then I decided to skate a bit myself. 3 guys made it to the final Roman and Mr. I don´tknowyourname anymore - The decision who would be the third was between me and Avi - I landed cab unity 630 gap on the wallride and proceeded to the final.
Mr. I don`tknow landed a 540 ao porn on the pyrabox but Roman dominated the comp - huge desaster 360 royal, topsoul 450 backsavanna on the kink... After the competition Avi landed the 720 true miszou.

Well, back to my old quest: search a place to eat. Jojo wanted to come but finally he decided to stay for the dvd premiere of "the wasted years". Adrien Anne also wanted to go - but somebody told us that all the restaurants where already closed and so I decided to pack my stuff and eat in the park. After I bought a sandwich and 2 portions of french fries Adrien told me they will move to the camping and then go to eat. So I threw away my french fries and entered the car. At the camping Adrien gave me the tent he bought for me - As it was pitch black I was really happy that my tent was self inflating - 2 seconds - TADA. Oh I had to pay 10€ for one night camping. I bought 6 beers in the late shop and waited for Jojo and the others cause Adriens car was full. We found out about an open restaurant 600 meters from the camping and went to search it. After 5 minutes Jojo went back to get the car - It was Jojo, his girl, Johnny, Preusi, Obermaier, Mili, Bisi and me in the car.
After some time we found a place - ordered and after some difficulties noticed that the waiter spoke german... He brought one pizza too much and we got it for free. Back to the camping at about 3 am. - Good night!

Sunday, 9th September 2007 - Stinkbombs, Police and Plastic Pizza
The next morning we got up - well most of us - Avichai decided to sleep a bit longer - I had serious trouble with packing up my self inflating tent - it might be fast to set up but if you dont know how to pack it - it can easily take "hours".
One of the Italian skaters had a caravan (rented) and he made amazing breakfast pasta for everybody- Thanks!!!
Oh and I guess Avichai slept some more time in his caravan while Jason packed up the tent.

I cant remember how we came to the skatepark - probably we walked cause its pretty close. It was hot again - we had an amazing competition - Julian Cudot (who by the way rides for Grindhouse ) won. This guy is simply amazing! 2nd Mauro - he won last year. 3rd Mr Obermaier who skated super technical. Roman Abrate placed 4th and the audience was absolutely not satisfied with that - I thought he would at least be 2nd but at least he won the best trick competition.

I ended up 9th though I don`t know how I managed that cause I felt pretty weak - but I had a lot of fun putting Usd stickers on the Valo banner.
Conclusion: The groove skatepark is worth a visit! IRP rocks!
During the award ceremony Jason told me we had to hurry cause the last train would leave in some minutes...
Luckily somebody drove us - well, he tried to - first it took us something like 15 minutes to "unpark" cause there was a fence and a motorbike and stones - no sorry rocks... We made it to the train station and still had time to eat a "girl ice" and a kebab.
When we bought the ticket the guy told us that the train was already fully booked - well we took it anyway and sat on the floor (with all the luggage). After some time of just watching girls going to the toilet (we sat in front of it) we decided to have some fun - I fund a stinkbomb in my backpack and Avi wanted to drop it in the next compartment. When he came back grinning we all knew it worked - unfortunately some guy noticed him - the conductor guy didn`t consider it funny and said Avi had to go to the police. So 2 stations later somewhere in Italy Jason and Avichai left the train while Jasons Brothers and me continued the travel. We met again some hours later in Milano in a combined McDonalds-Pizza place - by the way Italian fast food pizza is not better than German - we called it the plastic pizza.
Jason and Avi arrived and of course nothing had happened - the conductor guy left them at the station and told them to go to the police - don`t ask me why but they went to the police station and of course the police asked them what they should do now - and they left again...

After some time (it was probably 10 or 11 pm) Jasons Dad came and drove us to the "office" - the office is the infamous place where all the rollerbladers who ever where in Milano slept. There Avi shotguned the Airbed and I slept on the sofa which was probably better cause it was big and soft and I didn`t have to inflate it. Jason left early while Avi and me stayed up till nearly 8 am surfing the Internet and searching for food. At 5:30 am we found a bar and bought some cakes. On our way back we found a bakery and heard somebody working inside - of course we asked for food - they told us they would open in 15 minutes - We ended up with warm bread and yoghurt. Sooooo tasty!

Monday, 9th September 2007 - Skating, Chilling, Boring? Oh broken I-Pods
Huh? Good morning? Damn Jason - Its too early... somehow we wasted the whole day chilling - eating - teaching Jasons bro Gabriel to play the Halloween theme on his keyboard. Finally we went skating - some time ago Jason bought a rail (something like 200€) and we carried it some hundred meters in a park and skated it. Avichai "stole" a big stone from a new building to stop the rail from shaking. We had a nice session there - Jason did highspeed truespin topside everything, I fooled around with some mistral switchups and avi did a nice backside backslide to topporn to break your 250€ I-Pod.
In the meantime Jason had to leave - meet his girl and go to work at our favorite burger place. Maybe its worth mentioning that some old men stole back the big stone right during the session...
The rest of the day is a blur of chilling - Internetsurfing - searching a McDonalds (queue-jumping) - sleeping.
My initial plan was to leave Milano today at 9 pm - but as we didn`t skate that much and I wanted to get some clips from Avichai for the Grindhouse Dvd I decided to stay one day longer.

Tuesday, 10th September - boredom, trains and nothing else
To cut a long story short - we didn`t skate at all - Avichai was sleeping the whole day, Jason didn`t feel good and at about 9 pm I took the train to go back to Augsburg - what a waste of time.
In the train I sheared my sleeping compartment with a really nice american lady - way better than many other people I already met in trains.

I had an amazing time in Italy. Thanks Jason for the acomodation and all the rest. Thanks Grindhouse for supporting me. Thanks Oliver and Jason for the pictures. Thanks Jojo for taking me to the pizza plaze. Thanks Adrien for the tent! And thanks everybody that I forgot - sorry but its too late.
See you all soon!
