I didn't know why and I didn't know what it was about. One day, Jen came to me and said, "Open up your calendar to September." So I opened up my calendar to September. "Now put down on September 5 you're spending with me from 6 until...just give me the whole rest of the day! And don't ask questions." So I did. And I didn't.

So I was pleasantly surprised to find out yesterday evening at 6:00, dodging a light drizzle, that we were signed up to take a cooking class at Quality Street Kitchen & Catering in Leonardtown. But not just any cooking class -- no, no -- soup class. Chicken tortilla soup (and Maryland crab, and potato) class. Chicken tortilla soup is one of my favorites, you see, and it's one of those things I just hadn't bothered figuring out yet. We got to eat it. It was wonderful, and I had lots of fun at cooking class with Jen. But that's not what I came to talk about.

No, no. I'm here to discuss how I totally got my ass kicked by Jen in the dot game (we had down time while the soup was cooking). I could blame it on the complimentary wine or the deliriously good bread, but I won't -- I'm above that. I could blame it on Rudy Giuliani and his RNC speech for numbing the portion of my brain needed for logic and spatial reasoning, but I won't -- I'm above that. I was just stupid. I mean, look at this:

She won thirty-seven to twelve. THIRTY-SEVEN to TWELVE. Because I, as always, overanalyzed my options and went against my first instinct during a crucial point in the game. I made a critically bad move, that gave Jen the opportunity to take half of the board, filling in her first initial while she explained to me why it had been such a critically bad move, as if I didn't know. Yeah, thanks. *sigh*

At least I can zest. ;)

Η συναυλία θα γίνει -λέει- με αφορμή την προώθηση των ρούχων με την υπογραφή της JLo ενώ μετά  θα ακολουθήσει After Fashion Party (μη χέσω) στο Grand Resport Lagonisi (πάλι μη χέσω. Θα τρέχω από το Μαρούσι στο Λαγονήσι;;;).

Τέλος πάντων, αν ξεχάσω το που γίνεται η συναυλία και που η εκδήλωση και αν παραβλέψω το οτι για να δω την εν' λόγω αοιδό πρέπει να δώσω -το φθηνότερο- 60 ευρώ (υπάρχουν και vip με 150 αλλά και vvip με 350 που σου ανοίγουν και τη μαγική πόρτα στο G.R.L), να θυμίσω οτι πριν δύο χρόνια η συγκεκριμένη κυρία είχε ανακοινωθεί ξανά για συναυλία. Μόνο που είχαμε μείνει στις ανακοινώσεις και τα λόγια. Η ανακοίνωση έγινε 15-20 μέρες πριν το event το οποίο -προφνώς λόγω χαμηλών πωλήσεων εισιτηρίων- ακυρώθηκε μία μέρα πριν!!!

Τι έχει αλλάξει από το 2006 μέχρι σήμερα και μπορεί η JLo να σταθεί συναυλιακά; Τι επιτυχίες έχει κάνει στα τελευταία δύο χρόνια που να δικαιολογούν κάποιον στο να θέλει να την ακούσει να τραγουδάει ζωντανά(;;); Γιατί να θεωρώ οτι μία χοντροκώλα που στριγγλίζει πρέπει να αποκαλείται τραγουδίστρια; Τι θα έπρεπε να με κάνει να πιστεύω οτι και η φετινή απόπειρα για συναυλία δεν θα αποτύχει παταγωδώς; Μήπως λοιπόν η 20/9 θα είναι μία από τα ίδια;;;

It is wonderful!!!  Much richer and creamier than we are used to in a nondairy, nonsoy yogurt.  And the taste just cannot be beaten!!  

Jen ate only half but I think that is because it is so much richer in taste than she is used to.  I was happy to finish the other half which never would have happened with the rice based one!

It's shaping up to be a pretty exciting weekend. Let me tell you a little bit about what's on the schedule.

First though, let me tell you what I've done to get ready so far. This is just today. Props to Sydney for helping by melting the chocolate and telling interesting anecdotes.

- cleaned the kitchen
- did a load of laundy, including the spare bedroom sheets
- made granita (it's a girly slushy thing that my mom, sis and I enjoy)
- made my friend Teressa's moms' amazing chocolate cheesecake for my shower on Saturday
- folded laundry
- checked the cleanliness of the bathroom 4 times for no reason (Aaron cleaned them a couple days ago)
- unloaded the dishwasher
- reloaded the dishwasher
- tonight we are going to vacuum, dust, and pick up.

Word.

Now! Here's what's coming up! Mom and Meggarah fly in tomorrow night, and we will pick them up and have our traditional dinner at Cracker Barrel, hopefully with my inlaws too if they make it in from Kentucky in time.

Saturday morning I have my maternity photo shoot with the Amazing Ever Talented Shelley Paulson. I can hardly wait. We've cut Aaron's hair and tidied him up, just in case Shelley and I decide to include him. (OF course we will....)

Saturday afternoon is my baby shower at Tracie Loux's. I love an excuse to go over there. And my mom has never met most of my friends, so it's going to be so cool to be all in one place at the same time!

Sunday, we shall chill. Same with Monday. There shall be coffee and shopping. Much of both.

Tuesday is my next doctors appointment, and I'm taking the whole entourage so they can hear Caden's heartbeat. No sonogram, but a heartbeat is pretty cool too, right? Also, Tuesday night my mom has to fly home. Though luckily Meghan get's to stay for a full week. I'm so excited to have her here....

Yesterday's 33 week appointment at the doctors went pretty well, but apparently I am not getting enough rest. So, I'm trying to rest. Next week. I think I'll have time for that next week... :-)

Am real proud of you, girl !

The government scholarship, not easy to get, unless you pass all the conditions.

My lovely sister, Jennifer, had made our family proud again. At first, she made us proud by getting real good results during her STPM and with that good sets of results, she managed to enter the most profound university we have in Malaysia, the University Malaya. She is currently in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, studying East Asian Studies and majoring in Japanese language (perhaps very much influenced by his brother who's here in Japan). Anyway, being a nice good girl and considering the financial situation we have in our family, she decided to apply for the Malaysian Government's Public Service Department Scholarship for local universities and guess what, she successfully got it and that is the pride our family take in after that very success of hers entering the prestigious university.

My dad called me to inform me and to consult me regarding this matter, on whether she should accept the offer or not. I went through the details of this particular scholarship once again and did all the math and considerations for her. I, myself, managed to receive the JPA scholarship to continue my studies overseas here in Japan for both my diploma and degree. Without the scholarship, there is no way for me to survive the high living cost of expenses here so I decided to take it because it was a golden opportunity for me to see the world. Anyway, as for my sister's case, she has only one and half year to go before she graduate. She will receive about RM11,000 per year to cover up her living expenses and also tuition fees (which is about RM5000 per year) if she decides to take it. That means by the time she graduate she will get roughly RM16,500 from the government.

Well, of course, the government will not give the money for free. There are the conditions which comes along with this contract and as of my sister's case, she will have to serve the government for 4 to 5 years after she had graduated from her studies. If she had received the scholarship and decides not to serve the government, she has to pay up RM110,000 to RM130,000 as to say "sorry". Anyway, this story is fine for people who really decides to have a career as a government servant but after giving much thought, I don't think it is right to decide a single path only for my sister right now already. I mean with her qualifications I believe that she will get many offers in the private sector as well and I don't want her not to be able to choose from all those choices by being tied up by this bond.

So, it is clear and vivid that Jennifer will not take this scholarship. Yes, it would help us financially to support her studies but then, Mom and Dad said that they will be fine to support her for another one and half years. Plus, I will be working already from next year on so I believe I can support her well too. So, in order to give my sister the liberty of choices in the future, we have to say goodbye to this tempting offer. Of course, there are many Malaysians who are dying for the offer as it is a golden opportunity if you seek a career in the governmental sector plus you get all the worries of your shoulders about the expenses you need to make during the school years.

Nevertheless, our family is real proud of my sister. Her STPM results and her university results won her this scholarship and now, I believe that she understands that when you always try to excel, more chances will come to you. So, my message to her is to just keep focusing on her studies and look out for that chance to come to Japan. For your information, my fellow readers, she has a chance to come to Japan because in her course, for excellent students, they are offered to come to Japan for a year to study. Will she get it or not, we'll see from now. But, for now, am happy that she has shown us that she cared for our family so much that she actually took those actions by herself. My little sister is no longer little and she's thinking for herself. Am proud to know that very fact. Love you, sis.

These lil fans will be great for the wedding ceremony since it will be outside, also they will be the wedding favors.

Adorable bride and groom birds and all the bridesmaids and groomsmen..so freakin cute! I will most likely be sewing these for the people in the wedding as gifts..along with other things. But the colors will go with my colors I am going to use of course.

Recently Cal had a new development and acquired glasses. He's only 2! So this for sure needed to be documented! :) It's THE cutest thing ever and I think he looks just like the little boy from "Jerry Maguire."

Then he got it! We had to pretty much tear the bubbles away from him he loved it so much! :)

Grasp the tail end of summer while you can everyone! It won't be here forever! :)

Fast forward about 7 weeks and I'm frustrated :(.  I know I'm not supposed to be and I'm really trying not to be but at first she was doing so well.  About every 4-5 days I was able to reduce the amount of thickener in her liquid and she was doing wonderfully.  No coughing and no signs of aspiration.  We got from honey thick to nectar thick and then just below it like a breeze.

Then we hit a road block.  She was 2 "steps" (meaning a step used in our thinning process) below nectar when she started out ok but then started coughing with drinking.  So I went back up a step as directed.  The coughing stopped but then I noticed that she would do this weird sounding swallow.  I thought with her it was behavioral (hard to tell these things on a 3 year old!!)  and so asked her why she was doing it.  I got various answers from "choking" to "it's fun".  So, I left the thickness as it was figuring it would be a good place for her body to work at.  We've been there for about 1 1/2 weeks though.

Fast forward to the last few days and she's acting a lot like she did before we started thickening.  Cranky and chronically running a temp around 99.4-99.8.  Not a huge temp I know but this used to be what I thought her "normal" temp was.  It was always "oh Jen just runs a little warmer than the rest of us".  Then we started thickening and she stopped aspirating and low and behold she actually is human and her temp usually is closer to 98.4-98.6.  So this really is a 1 degree rise for her.  Nothing acute for infection but more indicative of chronic inflammation in her lungs.  :(

I'm guessing this may mean she's fallen off the bike and I need to get around to realizing it.  I'll go a little thicker again and see where we go.

I'm in love with this dress. I want it!

I really like all the fancy desserts for wedding receptions but I think we are gonna go simplier. It all depends on our budget. I had an idea when I went to Sams Club..they have bulk frozen desserts and food perfect for weddings so I think thats what we are goign to do and then some fresh fruits and crawfish. It's gonna be yummy :)

Saludos Jennifer, usted realmente es honesta acerca de un tema difícil. Hablo con miles de estudiantes, y sé que muchos de ellos se sienten de la misma manera que usted se siente. Su apertura puede ayudar a ellos.

Usted entiende lo que es la culpa, pero no creo que logra captar la grandeza de Dios en el perdón. Quiero que entienda que cuando se acepta a Jesucristo como su Salvador, Dios prometió que Él nunca dejar de perdonarlo, no importa lo que hagan mal.

Pero no tome mi palabra. Vea las palabras de Dios en 1 Juan 1:7,

"Pero si andamos en luz, como él está en luz, tenemos comunión unos con otros, y la sangre de Jesús, su Hijo, nos purifica de todo pecado."

Esto significa que Dios continúa purificandonos incluso mientras nosotros estamos tratando, como usted, a vivir la vida cristiana. Él hace eso a través de la sangre de Jesucristo, la sangre que le salvó para siempre desde hace cuatro años.

Pero debemos recordar también, Jennifer, mientras Dios quiere que usted sepa que sus pecados son perdonados, Satanás quiere que se sienta culpable. Satanás, el príncipe de la oscuridad, sabe de sus sentimientos de culpabilidad para mantenerlo (en su mente) separados de Dios.

El Libro de Apocalipsis llama a Satanás el engañador de todo el mundo. Y en Apocalipsis 12:10, se le llama el "acusador de nuestros hermanos." Sin embargo, mientras que Satanás trata de acusar y hacerte sentir culpable, Dios declara que usted es tan puras como Jesucristo. Dios dice que estamos completamente perdonados porque Jesús pagó la pena por nuestros pecados cuando murió en la cruz.

"Él ha hecho esto a través de la muerte en la cruz de su propio cuerpo humano, y ahora como resultado que Cristo ha traído a la presencia misma de Dios, y que está de pie delante de él sin nada que nada en contra de ustedes-izquierda que Él podría Chide incluso para usted "(Col 1:22, TLB).

Como puede ver, Dios ha hecho una cosa realmente impresionante. Dado que han creído en Cristo y aceptar lo que Él hizo por ti, Dios te ve como totalmente pura y santa, sin ningún tipo de fallas. Y, por último, Jennifer, tengo la sensación de que mucho de lo que usted cree sobre usted mismo y acerca de Dios se basa en sus sentimientos se cambian fácilmente. El tiempo puede afectar a sus sentimientos.

Pero nada puede cambiar los hechos de la Palabra de Dios. Y allí es donde tiene que poner la fe en que los hechos revelados en la Biblia y no en tus sentimientos.

Así que cuando usted tiene sentimientos de culpa cuando no hay base para que la culpa, volver a los hechos. Estos hechos te dicen que eres amado por Dios, completamente pura y santa a través de Jesucristo y constantemente limpiado por el Padre Celestial. Banco en esos hechos, Jennifer.
