The security of Microsoft Internet Explorer browser 8 Beta 2 is built on the base fishingovogo filter, which was used in its seventh version (IE7), as well as, IE8 beta 2 is able to block cross-site scripting (XSS). Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 Beta 2 will be tight control of malicious sites, thanks to its new filter - SmartScreen.

Functionality, which has been demonstrated in the second July IE8 beta 2 - That step filtering feature on "black list" which is built into Firefox browsers 3 and Opera 9.5. It is built on the basis fishingovogo filter, first presented in IE7. In addition, IE8 has at its disposal and other possible detection and heuristic detection of known bad sites.
Microsoft Of internet Of explorer 6, 7, and its 8 beta 1 version contain the vulnerability of safety, using which with the visit by the users of the specific Web sites or with the discovery of harmful electronic communication hackers can carry out on the computer of victim the arbitrary code. American service of computer safety (U.S. CERT) published the note of vulnerability, which indicates that Internet Of explorer not reliably is turned with the frames of document.

The frames into the Web document can be used for the separation of [kontenta], each of which can load from the different the Web servers or domains. These “floating frames”, or built-in frames, frequently are used for servicing the declarations, which, as a rule, act from the different domains, than the content, which appears at one page.

As speaks the American service of computer safety, problem consists in the fact that “Microsoft Of internet Of explorer will not be able it must limit access to the document into the personnel, which can allow that attacking to change contents of frames into another domain”.

Just last week, we have Opera 9.5, the new chic and nicely-built (not to mention - fast) browser by Opera Inc. Added security, and faster speed.

Tomorrow, (Wednesday 1.00am), we gonna witness a remarkable release of a remarkable browser - Firefox 3. Lighter, more secured, and more features.

And what's next?

Of course we can't miss out Microsoft with its Internet Explorer. IE 8 will be the latest browser waiting in line of the browser war. Unknown of its release date, IE 8 is currently undergoing beta testing and beta version is available for download. IE Beta 2 is set to be released this coming August. (I'm no big fan of testing beta versions, so I'll just wait for the final one)

Personally, I would say that IE evolves rather rapidly, thanks to Firefox and Opera. We witnessed the 'ultra' transition from the sluggish IE6 to the ''okay', up-to-par, good looking IE7. Their next project, the IE8, will be greater.

Before I lay out facts and figures of professional review, let me start with my own review.

From my experience on these 3 browsers, Opera 9.25, Firefox 2 and IE 7, I would say Firefox 2 tops the chart (though I still have all of them). Opera 9.25 was a fast browser (Opera 9.5 is even faster) and it is the fastest among the three.

3 reasons I stick with Firefox 2 rather than Opera 9.25 :

The web-page-load-speed between the two browsers doesn't differ much. Plus, I did not fancy the way Opera loads images.

Firefox 2 offers wide range of addon, extensions and plugins, whatever you name it. It is built by user for user and can be easily obtained from Firefox Addon site. Among my favourite addons are DownThemAll, Nuke Anything Enhanced, and Hide Menubar

More used to Firefox and nothing super-catchy in Opera that can lure me to change my mind.

IE7 is definitely out of the choice due to lack of features and security as compared to the other 2 browsers. Nevertheless it is a decent browser, compared to IE6, which is not even worth using.

In terms of ranking:

Firefox 2 > Opera 9.25 > IE7

How about ranking of the new browsers?

I haven't really tried out all of them and is still waiting for 1.00am ... !! for Firefox 3

The browser war can lead to many uncertainties. From professional testing, it is found out tat Firefox 3 handles java script the best, among the 3 new browsers. In terms of speed though, IE8 is 2x faster than Firefox 3, which pretty remarkable. All 3 new browsers has added security, improved 'smart' location bar and Firefox 3 still tops in terms of user-friendly features. ( read below: Firefox 3 vs IE8 )

So, whats the ranking gonna be and who will win the browser war? I can give u an answer if it is 1 to 4 years back, but now...only time will tell...

________________________________________________________________________

Okay now, for the professional review and as additional reading material for the 'tech savvy':

Microsoft issued a statement warning website owners to prepare for possible problems that the new browser may cause...should be interesting to see what happens...Here is an interesting article by Mary Jo Foley concerning the issue:

Microsoft warns Web site owners to prep for IE 8

Although Beta 2 of Internet Explorer (IE) 8 isn’t due out until some time in August, Microsoft is cautioning Web site owners now that they need to be prepping now for possible problems the new, more standards-compliant browser may cause.

As part of this week’s IE June Security Update for IE8 Beta 1, Microsoft introduced a new tag, “IE+EmulateIE7″ — which it is counting on to head off some of the incompatibilities the company is anticipating could occur, based on feedback it received from IE 8 Beta 1 testers.

In a June 10 posting on the IE Blog, members of the IE team reminded site owners — many of whom had designed their sites to display correctly in less-standards-compliant, prior versions of IE — that they need to “get ready” for IE 8 so that their content will “continue to display seamlessly.”

Microsoft decided earlier this year that it will make super-standards mode the default with IE 8. Super-standards mode is one of three modes which will be supported in IE 8. The other two are “quirks” mode, which will be compatible with current IE pages and applications, and a “standards” mode, which will be the same as what’s offered by IE 7 and “compatible with current content.”

(Microsoft originally planned to make the super-standards mode an opt-in choice and the IE 7 “standards” mode the default — claiming that by doing so, Microsoft would ensure better backwards-compatibility with existing Web sites and applications. But that decision angered those who felt Microsoft was shirking its commitment to make IE more standards-compliant.)

From the June 10 IE Blog post:

“In response to the great IE8 Beta 1 feedback we’ve received so far, we are introducing the ‘IE=EmulateIE7′ tag to address this problem. EmulateIE7 tells IE8 to display standards DOCTYPEs in IE7 Standards mode, and Quirks DOCTYPEs in Quirks mode. We believe this will be the preferred IE7 compatibility mode for most cases. Support for IE=EmulateIE7 is available now as part of the IE June Security Update for IE8 Beta 1. Installing this update will enable you to verify you’ve applied the EmulateIE7 tag to your site correctly.”

Microsoft released a first beta of IE8 in March. Company officials have declined to say when the final version of IE 8 will ship.

Commentators were mixed in their responses to Microsoft’s post, with some claiming the company was doing the right thing to ease the transition to a more standards-compliant IE 8. But others criticized Microsoft, claiming they need more information about which bugs the company plans to fix in IE 8 in order to design their sites and apps to continue to display seamlessly.

Commentator “Henry” weighed in:

“WE WANT to support IE8 fully, in the most standards way possible, but WE ABSOLUTELY NEED to know what IE will support in order for US to support it correctly!”

From poster “Mike”:

“I’m okay with all of this, but gosh darn it would help a heck of a lot if there were say, like, uhm, some sort of guide as to what is going to be in IE8, kinda like a, uhm,… ROADMAP?!”

On June 11, the IE team posted about some new IT-specific features coming to IE 8 as of Beta 2, specifically the ability to slipstream IE 8 into a Vista (but not XP) image and the addition of new group-policy settings aimed at improving browser compatibility with apps and Web sites. Microsoft went public about these new features at Tech Ed 2008 this week.

What’s your prediction as to what will happen when Microsoft finally rolls out IE 8? Will more users give it a try, due to its greater standards-compliancy? Will it “break the Web”? Will it slow Firefox’s continued growth?

It's not supported on WordPress. I basically like the feel of it, although it often seems a poor emulation of Netscape/Mozilla/Firefox, also bearing the marks of a heavily rewritten program. What I mean by that is poor software response time amended by greater processor speeds, like today's operating systems. Remember that I started on the precursor to modern DOS. I was never a formal programmer.

--The IE 7 emulation does just fine. Thought I'd added that...

IE 8 does have the new tabss/windows option. The "new tab" option may disappear, forcing you to opt for a new window. The overwhelming array of iconic options at the top of the browser has been slimmed considerably, which makes a more understandable feel, although like someone else I said I don't like where they put the refresh button (right after the http address).

And it doesn't...as of yesterday...work with the links on WordPress--the link options, that is. Since that train of seizures, I don't remember html well at all and I don't feel particularly inclined to relearn it. If I roll this back to IE 7, I may lose some programs. I'm like thinkin' about it, okay? dude. Anyway.

Microsoft Corporation is going to issue a continuation of its ruler web browsers, namely - Internet Explorer 8 (IE8), which will focus mainly on the compatibility of all network standards. This will be the top priority of new software product.

However, looking at the new World Wide Web browser, users can see it slightly different content, especially when a webpage was written for an older version of a web browser. This fact should encourage owners of Web sites to make sure that their current Web page will appear correctly in the latest version of the browser IE8. In order to ensure even greater compatibility, Microsoft introduced a special "fingerprint" - meta-tag. They can be used on every page, and will be "forced" IE8 display web content, just as it makes its seventh version, without any modification.

Microsoft Corporation advises all administrators to check their web sites for compatibility with the new version of the browser - IE8, as it prepares public beta version of the browser for the third quarter of this year.

This link administrators will be able to look in more detail with all the nuances use IE8.

Stupid New Wordpress Dashboard. I don't like the new version. I simply hate it. It's been acting up of late and what was previously a simple process of posting has now become a bloody messy issue.

I am using IE 8 and I am having problems uploading pictures. Every time I'd upload a picture, this would happen:

Oh, I forgot, I cannot upload pictures with IE (which I am currently on). So, now I will have to switch browser and go to Opera. Wait a minute. Let me do that.

Ok, now I am on Opera. So lemme upload the pic.

If you are asking yourself, what's wrong with this, this is how it should be,

As you can see, in the first of the two images, the Insert into Post button is missing. So I manage to upload a file, but have no way of inserting that into the post. Wow, really nice.

I also hate this feature of Gallery. It's annoying at the very least. As George pointed out in one of his comments, you have to first click on an image to get a medium sized picture and then click on it again to get the original sized picture. Ridiculous and not many people clicking on the picture would know and even if they did know would want to click on the image a second time.

Issues with Thumbnails:

I would upload images and insert thumbnails of them into the post only to find that you cannot click on it to enlarge it. I checked the code and the code was alright. I remember issues even in one of my previous quizzes where in spite of me re-uploading certain pictures, they refused to display properly.

This happened in my previous post too and I hated it. Had to insert the gallery later on which I simply hate.

Gallery, no thanks

Another stupid issue. Once you have uploaded a picture, you have to immediately insert it into your post. If you make the mistake of uploading another picture, then both go and sit in the gallery and you can no longer upload the first picture separately into your post. Wunderba!! How very inconvenient.

Word unwrap ?

One weird thing I noticed and this is what pissed me off the most was that as I was typing like I am right now, the line just went on like it happens on notepad when word wrap is not turned on. Once again, I checked the code and it was fine. I published the post, looked at in on different browsers and my whole page was now spoilt.

I know the service is free and has been good for most part. But then this is just ridiculous.

Firebug Extension a very effective tool to debug HTML, CSS and Javascript for Mozill Firefox. No web

Firebug Extension a very effective tool to debug HTML, CSS and Javascript for Mozill Firefox. No web developer can do his/her job better without this tool. Now if you wanted to fix UI for the latest Mozilla Firefox 3 then you will get some questions bubbling on your mind like,

Can we use firebug extension to fix User Interface of web pages on new Mozilla firefox 3?
How to install firebug on Mozilla firefox 3 beta 5?
And etc.

Answers are,

Yes, you can use firebug extension even though it has not yet come up with its version for Mozilla Firefox 3.
Steps to install firebug for Mozilla Firefox:

1) Type the following link on your IE browser address bar https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/search?q=firebug&cat=all
Note: If you use mozilla firefox 3 latest version to download the extension you will see a text saying "This add-on is for older versions of Firefox" because its made for this latest version.

2) So use ie browser click download button from the above linked page to download firebug-1.05-fx+fl.xpi and save it to your local hard disc.

3) Change firebug-1.05-fx+fl.xpi to firebug-1.05-fx+fl.zip to open the zip file.

4) Open install.rdf file by double clicking on it (notepad may open) and now you can change the browser version 2.0.0 to 3.0.0 after from the rdf file code as mentioned below,
Replace the code and save
from "<em:maxVersion>2.0.0.*</em:maxVersion>" to "<em:maxVersion>3.0.0.*</em:maxVersion>"

- Codes depict the maximum support by firebug extension for Mozilla Firfox browser.

5) Change firebug-1.05-fx+fl.zip file extension to firebug-1.05-fx+fl.xpi and copy it to your local hard disc. Example path: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\extensions.

That's it you are done with it. You have got that working extension for your new Mozill Firefox 3 browser.
Now just close your firefox 3 browser and reopen the browser. You will get Add on browser pop-up window to install that firebug xpi file as add-on to your browser.

I hope your font end development will deserve super success. All best.
Any comments? Please do reply to the post.

Hey folks, I have another approach that could help to develop web pages compatible for all the different browsers like IE 8 Beta 1, Mozilla Fireforx 3 Beta 5 , Firefox 2.

The novel approach is about get a additional CPU Box which will have Firefox 3 and IE 8 installed and could be connected by RDP (Remote Desktop) from your main CPU Box. The Main CPU box could have some older version of firefox and ie browsers. By sharing /hosting developing web pages, we could test and develop pages with RDP connection.
I hope this approach could be more useful than my first post about an approach to develop and test pages for multiple IE and Firefox browser version.

All new coming posts will be related to UI fixes and workarounds for IE 8 and Firefox 3 till every one gets hands on with these latest browsers behaviors.

<Reply to Rafi Ali Khan’s Comments: I will have posts detailed with snapshots when it’s required to make the context clear as per your advice. Thanks.>

Hey Folks! I have an approach to develop and test web pages on IE 8 and also with other browsers like firefox 3 for web application at a same time. Normally we do use multiple IE tool to develop pages for all the IE browsers versions till IE 6 when you have IE7 as primary browser. Installing IE8 Beta 1 will be having a button to switch to IE 7. But you may not get an option to work on multiple firefox browsers versions at the same time.

To work on all the browsers like IE6, IE7, IE8 Beta1, Firefox 1.5, Firefox 2.0.1, Firefox 3 beta 4 you will need one more CPU box along with your existing. Using a controller you can switch two CPUs on your single monitor to develop pages for your entire browsers by installing IE6, IE7, IE8 Beta1 and Firefox 1.5 to a CPU and Firefox 3 beta 4 with the other one.

This is my approach...If you have any other approach do reply to this post, that would be appreciated. Thanks.

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/ie/ie8/default.mspx

- Windows Vista (32 y 64 bits)
- Windows Server 2008 (32 y 64 bits)
- Windows Server 2003 SP2 (32 y 64 bits)
- Windows XP Service Pack 2 (32 y 64 bits)

With IE 6 and IE 7 losing market share to Firefox, Opera and various other browsers that are not based on the IE engine, Microsoft figured it was time to talk shop about IE 8. While a specific release date was dodged around the whole time, hints were dropped that IE version 8 would ship around Q4 of 2008. Mozilla is set to release Firefox 3.0 before the end of this year; Microsoft has some catching up to do.

Joel has a must read post that alerts us to some tamasha–vedikkai that is going to happen soon

Joel has a must read post that alerts us to some tamasha--vedikkai that is going to happen soon:

You’re about to see the mother of all flamewars on internet groups where web developers hang out. It’ll make the Battle of Stalingrad look like that time your sister-in-law stormed out of afternoon tea at your grandmother’s and wrapped the Mustang around a tree.

This upcoming battle will be presided over by Dean Hachamovitch, the Microsoft veteran currently running the team that’s going to bring you the next version of Internet Explorer, 8.0. The IE 8 team is in the process of making a decision that lies perfectly, exactly, precisely on the fault line smack in the middle of two different ways of looking at the world. It’s the difference between conservatives and liberals, it’s the difference between “idealists” and “realists,” it’s a huge global jihad dividing members of the same family, engineers against computer scientists, and Lexuses vs. olive trees.

And there’s no solution. But it will be really, really entertaining to watch, because 99% of the participants in the flame wars are not going to understand what they’re talking about. It’s not just entertainment: it’s required reading for every developer who needs to design interoperable systems.

After that preamble, Joel goes on to explain the issues in a lengthy but lucid post and ends it with some philosophical reflections:

So you see, we have a terrific example here of a gigantic rift between two camps.

The web standards camp seems kind of Trotskyist. You’d think they’re the left wing, but if you happened to make a website that claims to conform to web standards but doesn’t, the idealists turn into Joe Arpaio, America’s Toughest Sheriff. “YOU MADE A MISTAKE AND YOUR WEBSITE SHOULD BREAK. I don’t care if 80% of your websites stop working. I’ll put you all in jail, where you will wear pink pajamas and eat 15 cent sandwiches and work on a chain gang. And I don’t care if the whole county is in jail. The law is the law.”

On the other hand, we have the pragmatic, touchy feely, warm and fuzzy engineering types. “Can’t we just default to IE7 mode? One line of code … Zip! Solved!”

Secretly? Here’s what I think is going to happen. The IE8 team going to tell everyone that IE8 will use web standards by default, and run a nice long beta during which they beg people to test their pages with IE8 and get them to work. And when they get closer to shipping, and only 32% of the web pages in the world render properly, they’ll say, “look guys, we’re really sorry, we really wanted IE8 standards mode to be the default, but we can’t ship a browser that doesn’t work,” and they’ll revert to the pragmatic decision. Or maybe they won’t, because the pragmatists at Microsoft have been out of power for a long time. In which case, IE is going to lose a lot of market share, which would please the idealists to no end, and probably won’t decrease Dean Hachamovitch’s big year-end bonus by one cent.

You see? No right answer.

As usual, the idealists are 100% right in principle and, as usual, the pragmatists are right in practice. The flames will continue for years. This debate precisely splits the world in two. If you have a way to buy stock in Internet flame wars, now would be a good time to do that.

Along the way, you get to read delightful paragraphs of the following sort:

If you’ve ever visited the ultra-orthodox Jewish communities of Jerusalem, all of whom agree in complete and utter adherence to every iota of Jewish law, you will discover that despite general agreement on what constitutes kosher food, that you will not find a rabbi from one ultra-orthodox community who is willing to eat at the home of a rabbi from a different ultra-orthodox community. And the web designers are discovering what the Jews of Mea Shearim have known for decades: just because you all agree to follow one book doesn’t ensure compatibility, because the laws are so complex and complicated and convoluted that it’s almost impossible to understand them all well enough to avoid traps and landmines, and you’re safer just asking for the fruit plate.

Don't miss the fun!
