No últimos fim de semana assiti pelo Youtobe ''Wrestling with Shadows'' o documentário que fala sobre Bret Hart.  O ângulo da história desse documentário é bem interessante, basicamente é sobre um homem que acredita nos heróis num mundo que já não se interessa pelos mesmo e prefere  os vilões(Pelo menos na época). Era o começo da Era da Atitude,onde os faces chingavam e faziam piadas sujas. E Bret parecia realmente decontente em ser vilão(heel) depois de tanto tempo como face.E deixa muito claro que não gosta dos personagens(gimmicks) como as de Shawn Michaels e Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Outro ponto interessante são as cenas em família de Bret, a relção com outros lutadores. Uma cena que me chamou bastante a atenção é quando Shawn Michaels brinca com o filho de Bret.

E sim o documentário fala do Montreal screwjob. Mostrando a frustração e humilhação do Bret diante de seus fãs e da família. Também se ouve uma conversa, supostamente gravada sem o conhecimento de Vince McMahon,onde os dois combinavam o final da luta.

Achei tudo muito bem feito cheio de sinceridade. Porém há quem ache que esse domcumentário é uma prova que o Montreal screwjob é uma storyline. Realmente essa história tornou Bret Hart um herói ainda maior no Canadá e Vince ganhou um maior destaque como heel, o maior de todos aliás.

''Wrestling with Shadown'' chegou até a ganhar vários prêmios internacionais e foi finalista um dos finalistas do Festival de Documentários de Nova Iorque de 1998 e foi exibio no canal A&E(não sei o ano em que foi exibido na TV). É um documentário que merece ser visto.

I got what I wanted — to see a baseball game my hometown in October. And when I got there, I wanted more.

Saturday was nothing short of glorious. That cool autumn sun turns everything golden — the leaves, my spirits. I know you’re probably accustomed to me likening things to Jay-Z lyrics, but when things get really heavy, I turn to the classics. I walked down to the Giants 1,2,3 lot with Posh and her friend, The Biggest. We ran into old friends with ease. Everyone had that warm, excited, contented vibe about them, the kind you get after you successfully build a roaring campfire. The Brewers were going to win, we just knew it. 

But we were not going to the game. My seats were for the NLDS Home Game 2 — Sunday, a game which might have never been played.

“Yeah, when I bought my tickets, I bought them for Sunday,” I told my friends. “I don’t know what I was thinking.”

I’ll tell you what I was thinking, at the time. I was thinking I would get to see the Crew clinch the division series, at home, at Miller Park. And with a few breaks, and a few more quality performances, we could have seen it. I left the parking lot and walked back up the hill to my apartment just as the television blimp was hovering into sight over the Convertible Confines, with no guarantee there would be a reason to go back the next day. 

But I was sure — the boys were not going to be swept. 

I paced throughout a bartending shift in which I did little but watch the game. I don’t think I’ll ever forget Corey Hart dropping the ball after embellishing an amazing wall-banging catch with a somersault. And if the team retains Dale Sveum as its manager next year, there can be no underestimating the importance of his calmly stating the correct rule on Shane Victornio’s body slam interference on Craig Counsell. He just shrugged on out there... “The rule is that guy, he has to go back over there,” he seemed to say. So they gutted out a win. Chicago, for the second straight year, did not. 

Posh even had a joke for the occasion:

“What’s the difference between the beer at Miller Park and the beer at Wrigley Field? ... They’ll still be selling beer at Miller Park tomorrow.”

The sun was not shining when we walked in on Sunday. I brought Posh, my brother and my parents. We were cautiously optimistic, but there was a sense of dumb desperation in the air. The people in the bloody mary line were bitching about how long it was taking, how expensive the drinks were, commenting on the drink lady’s wrist brace. WTF? Is this the first time you’ve been in this line? That lady is a saint, and she crafts a quality cocktail, and she’s administered several dozen to Posh and I this summer, so why don’t you go find your seats, OK?

A very nice family who let us stand by them at the right field cocktail tables (they waited in line starting at 8 a.m. and sprinted to reserve the spot) confirmed it.

“The crowd last night was electric. This is different,” she said, pointing to passersby. “There’s a lot of non-fans here. Look at that guy. He’s not a fan. She’s not a fan. Not a fan. Not a fan.”

There was also a scrum to grab the fan give-away, Thunderstix. As a fan, I’ve never seen these before and I admit I was intriqued. 

Thunderstix — To make noice, bang together lengthwise 

It was a fun gimmick, but I am convinced it handicapped the crowd. People would just bang the things, which were loud, but not that loud. It helped sustain the cacophony, but it took the edge off.

At a certain point, I handed them off. I wanted to clap and cheer and scream and yell. That’s how it’s done — with your teeth and nails and not some confounding clapping balloon. 

Still, there were some fun moments. 

And if you don’t mind, I’ll stretch out in telling them. Because really, what else is there to do for the next five months?

Ryan Braun:

Tall, dark, and handsome, Ryan Braun is one of the three most-talked about young Brewers. There's a little bit of Javier Bardem, maybe mixed with some Robert Downey Jr.--or something. He's got nice eyes and a constant five o' clock shadow which can be hot, in that scruffy sort of way.

Next we've got Corey Hart: cute and blonde in that sort of all-American fashion, Corey's got kind of a baby-face thing going on. He seems to have tried to offput the little-kid demeanor by growing a beard. However...that beard just does not fly. He doesn't look like a baseball player, but some farm kid that crawled off the tractor and into Miller Park.

JJ Hardy completes the Brewer hotness trifecta. Unlike Corey Hart, he has age-appropriate good-looks and seems like he knows how to handle a chick. However, he gets demerit points for that thing growing on his chin. The little beardy patch thing gives him an Amish look, which--and no offense to our friends of a simpler life--does not do anything for his hotness factor.

Honestly, I think Forth is hotter than any of these three, though perhaps doesn't know how to swing a bat quite as well. I'm not sure why people don't lump Eric Gagne in with the other three hot dudes. After all, what's wrong with a pitcher that looks almost EXACTLY like Seth Rogan?

Vid första ögonkastet ser det ut som en vanlig tråkig fotbollsbild med någon som skjuter ett skott. Men om man tittar lite längre kan man observera killen som blir träffad. Hans kroppsspråk och ansiktsuttryck talar för sig själv. Skottet gick ganska hårt. Tack vare detta makalösa skådespel som han låter oss bevittna har jag gett honom en egen bild, bara på honom själv.

Om jag visste vem han var skulle jag vilja ge honom ett pris av något slag. Så om det finns någon läsare där ute som kan namnet på denna spelare i Vindeln. Snälla ge det till mig.

America’s Next Chapter

THE novelties of race and gender have largely distracted the nation from the more profound aspect of the 2008 presidential election: This campaign presents the potential for a new cycle of American history.

The idea that American politics moves in cycles is usually associated with the historian Arthur Schlesinger Jr., but it has an even longer currency. Ralph Waldo Emerson noted the political oscillations between the party of memory and the party of hope, the party of conservatism and the party of innovation. Henry Adams believed that “a period of about 12 years measured the beat of the pendulum” during the era of the founders. Schlesinger, borrowing from his historian father, estimated that the swings between eras of public action and those of private interest were nearer to 30 years.

What matters more than the length of the cycles is that these swings, between what Schlesinger called periods of reform and periods of consolidation, clearly occur. If we somewhat arbitrarily fix the age of Franklin D. Roosevelt as 1932 to 1968 and the era of Ronald Reagan as 1968 to 2008, a new cycle of American political history — a cycle of reform — is due.

The Republican coalition — composed of the religious right on social issues, the radical tax cutters or “supply-siders” on economic issues, and the neoconservatives on foreign policy — has produced only superficial religiosity, a failed war and record deficits. Traditional conservatives, who are dedicated to resistance to government intrusion into private lives, fiscal discipline and caution on military interventions, have yet to re-emerge, and may not. The character of the next Republican Party will result from an intraparty debate that has yet to begin and might occupy a decade or more.

Democrats, meanwhile, have yet to produce a coherent ideological framework to replace the New Deal, despite an eight-year experiment in “triangulation” and an undefined “centrism.” Once elected, Barack Obama would have a rare opportunity to define a new Democratic Party. He could preside over the beginning of a new political cycle that, if relevant to the times, would dominate American politics for three or four decades to come.

Senator Obama has two choices. He can focus on winning the election to the exclusion of all else and, like Robert Redford in “The Candidate,” ask, “What do we do now?” after it is over. Or he can use his campaign as a platform for designing a new political cycle and achieve a mandate for starting it.

Noting the power of “custom and fear,” and “of orthodoxy and of complacency,” Schlesinger believed that “the subversion of old ideas by the changing environment” would give a new leader the best chance to create a new cycle of reform and innovation.

No individual can entirely determine the architecture of a historical cycle. But much of the next one will be defined by how we grapple with a host of new realities, ones that reach beyond jihadist terrorism. They include globalized markets; the expansion of the information revolution into places like China; the emergence of new world powers including India and China; climate deterioration; failing states; the changing nature of war; mass migrations; the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction; viral pandemics; and many more.

Senator Obama’s attempt to introduce the next American cycle should include, at minimum, three elements. National security requires a new, expanded, post-cold-war definition. America must transition from a consumer economy to a producing one. And the moral obligations of our stewardship of the planet must become paramount.

These themes and the policies that flow from them, if made the centerpiece of the 2008 election (perhaps along with alternatives that others might suggest), could produce the mandate required to begin a new historical cycle. This post-New Deal, post-Morning in America era would be more in tune with the current century and its realities than the continued political circling that confuses most Americans, who repeatedly and overwhelmingly report that they know America is adrift.

They are right. And they are right because they instinctively realize that old politics, old parties and old policies are increasingly irrelevant to our lives, to our revolutionary times and to our country’s future. The next cycle of American history is as yet unframed, awaiting a national leader who can define a new role for government at home and a new role for America in the world of the 21st century.

Begin september heeft Direct Force webmarketing de nieuwe community hartgenoten.nl voor de Stichting Hartpatiënten Nederland gelanceerd.

De Stichting Hartpatiënten Nederland zet zich in om mensen met een hart- of vaatziekte in de breedste zin van het woord te ondersteunen. Het

hoofddoel is om mensen bij elkaar te brengen die een gelijke hart- of vaatziekte hebben.

Vraag aan Direct Force

Door het teruglopende aantal donateurs was de stichting Hartpatiënten Nederland genoodzaakt actie te ondernemen. Wanneer er niet meer donaties binnen zouden komen, zou de stichting uiteindelijk zijn activiteiten moeten staken.
Op basis van de eerder genoemde doelstelling heeft Direct Force zich ingezet om een concept te ontwikkelen dat aansluit op de vraag en kernwaarde van de Stichting Hartpatiënten Nederland.

Concept

Tijdens de deskresearch voor het project werd duidelijk dat mensen zich niet meer op een traditionele wijze als donateur aan een stichting verbinden. Zij zijn nog wel bereid stichtingen te ondersteunen maar op een andere manier dan het traditionele donateurschap. Hiernaast is de trend waarneembaar dat steeds meer mensen vertrouwd raken op sociale netwerksites zoals bijvoorbeeld hyves.

Inspelend op deze deze trends is het concept www.hartgenoten.nl ontwikkeld.

Hartgenoten is een online platform waar mensen met een hartkwaal in staat zijn om met elkaar in contact te treden. Daarbij vinden bezoekers nieuws over hart- en vaatziekten en komen specialisten aan het woord.
Met deze community ontstaat een selecte maar grote doelgroep; 1 miljoen mensen in Nederland wordt  getroffen door een hartkwaal en daarbij komt de directe omgeving die hiermee te maken krijgt. Door deze selectie ontstaat een zeer interessante doelgroep voor adverteerders.

Voortgang

Weliswaar is de community pas net uit de ontwikkeling, toch tonen verschillende bedrijven al interesse in de site. Gazelle verloot onder de eerste 1000 Hartverhalen een sportieve designfiets en de landelijke media hebben al een artikel gepubliceerd over hartgenoten.nl.

Zoals het hart beschreven kan worden in termen van leven of dood, zo kan het ook beschouwd worden als behorend tot een van de drie typen; te weten het gezonde hart, het dode hart en het zieke hart.

Het gezonde hart
Op de dag des Oordeels zullen alleen degene die naar Allah komen met een gezond hart, gered worden.

Als omschrijving van het gezonde hart, is het volgende gezegd:

“Het is een hart gezuiverd van elke passie die betwist wat Allah heeft opgedragen, of betwist wat Hij verbiedt.

Het is vrij van alle impulsen die Zijn goedheid tegenspreken. Als gevolg, wordt het gered van het aanbidden van iets anders dan Hem, en zoekt het de rechtvaardigheid van niets anders dan Zijn Boodschapper.

Zijn diensten zijn alleen gereserveerd voor Allah, welwillend en liefdevol, met totaal vertrouwen, alles met Hem in verband brengend, in angst, hoop en oprechte toewijding. Wanneer het liefheeft, dan is zijn liefde op de weg van Allah. Wanneer het haat, dan haat hij het in het licht van wat Hij haat. Wanneer het geeft, dan geeft het omwille van Allah. Wanneer het achterhoudt, dan houdt het achter omwille van Allah. Toch zal dit alles niet genoeg zijn voor zijn redding totdat het vrij is van iemand anders te volgen, of als zijn gids te nemen, dan Zijn Boodschapper.”

Een dienaar met een gezond hart moet het toewijden tot het eind van zijn reis en zijn acties en uitspraken niet op iemand anders baseren dan Allah’s Boodschapper. Hij moet geen voorrang geven aan een ander geloof of woorden of daden dan die van de Boodschapper van Allah .

Het dode hart
Dit is het tegenovergestelde van het gezonde hart. Het kent zijn God niet en aanbidt Hem niet zoals Hij opdraagt, op de manier zoals Hij wil en waarmee Hij tevreden is.

Het klampt zich in de plaats daarvan vast aan zijn lusten en verlangens, zelfs wanneer deze Allah’s ontevredenheid en boosheid veroorzaken. Het aanbidt andere dingen dan Allah, en zijn liefde en zijn haat, zijn geven en zijn behouden, komen vanuit zijn begeertes, welke van doorslaggevend belang ervoor zijn en verkozen worden boven de tevredenheid van Allah. Zijn begeertes zijn zijn imam. Zijn lust is zijn gids. Zijn negeren is zijn leider. Zijn vulgaire impulsen zijn zijn daadkracht. Het is ondergedompeld in zijn belang met wereldlijke zaken. Het is dronken met zijn eigen eerlijkheid en zijn liefde voor voorbarige, vergankelijke plezieren. Het wordt van een afstand geroepen naar Allah en het hiernamaals, maar het antwoordt niet op advies, en in plaats daarvan volgt het elke gemene shaytan. Leven maakt het boos en stelt het tevreden, en passie maakt het doof en blind [1] voor alles behalve wat kwaad is. Associëren en in gezelschap zijn van de eigenaar van zo’n hart zal ziekte veroorzaken: met hem leven is als vergif nemen, en bevriend met hem zijn betekent volstrekte verwoesting.

Het zieke hart
Dit is een hart met zowel leven als ziekte in zich. De eerste bezit het op het ene moment, de laatstgenoemde op een ander, en het volgt welk van de twee er in slaagt het te domineren. Het heeft liefde voor Allah, geloof in Hem, oprechtheid jegens Hem en vertrouwen in Hem en dit is wat het leven geeft. Het heeft ook een neiging naar lust en plezier, en prefereert het en streeft ernaar het te ervaren. Het is vol van zelfaanbidding, wat kan leiden tot zijn eigen verwoesting. Het luistert naar twee roepers: een roept het naar Allah en zijn Profeet en het hiernamaals; en de ander roept het naar de vergankelijke plezieren van deze wereld. Het antwoordt gaat naar welke van de twee de meeste invloed heeft op dat moment.

Het eerste hart leeft overgegeven aan Allah, nederig, gevoelig en bewust; het tweede is bros en dood; het derde zweeft tussen zijn veiligheid of zijn verwoesting.

Abs- the thinker

Hoe vaak wij God niet vergeten... Hoe vaak we niet vergeten te danken voor iets wat we ontvangen hebben en waar we 3 minuten daarvoor nog schietgebedjes voor deden. En dat terwijl Hij ons niet vergeten was!
Soms bid ik dat ik snel mijn sleutels terug vind, want ik ben een kleine chaoot. Sommigen zijn van mening dat je God daarvoor niet om hulp mag bidden, ik had immers zelf m'n sleutels kwijt gemaakt. Maar God laat me telkens weer zien dat Hij me zelfs wil helpen met de kleine dingen, waarin ik - in karakter - nog gevormd moet worden. Dat maakt me tevens bewust van het feit dat ik God nodig heb ik alle aspecten van mijn leven en niet alleen in de dingen die voor mij hele grote problemen lijken te zijn.

Maar God is dus echt gepassioneerd over mij! Ik vind het zo cool om nummers te zingen zoals die van Misty Edwards. Die gaat als volgt: Jesus here I am Your favorite one, what are You thinking, what are You feeling, I have to know. For I am after Your heart, after your heart, after You!
Men, hoe kunnen we ooit van onszelf geloven dat wij Gods ultieme lieveling zijn?! Ik vind het moeilijk! En toch is dat wat God over mij zegt! En dat is ook wat Hij laat zien! Want elke keer als ik Zijn hart zoek stort Hij een stukje van Zijn vaderhart over mij uit. Een stukje van Zijn ultimate intimate unconditional love. En dan ben ik in zwijm haha! Want als dat je overkomt, raak je betoverd door Zijn hart.

Ik heb hier al eerder over geschreven, maar ik doe het lekker nog eens! Laatst was ik in een dienst en Gods stilte kwam in de zaal. We waren al geëindigd. Iedereen kon naar huis, maar we bleven hangen want Gods aanwezigheid hing als een mist in de zaal. Het was doodstil. Ik heb me verbaasd over hoe lang 800 man met zijn allen stil kunnen zijn, maar als God de zaal vult met de zoom van Zijn kleed... wauw.. dan wil je niet weg. Dan wil je alleen maar blijven en wachten tot Jezus ook persoonlijk aan jou verschijnt. En dat deed Hij. Ik zag mezelf staan in een trouwjurk! De droom van iedere jonge vrouw. En ik stond aan het begin van de troonzaal. En ik maakte me klaar om naar het altaar te lopen. Daar stond Jezus te wachten. 
Ik kan je zeggen.. ik had nooit eerder zoiets gezien of meegemaakt, maar ik was daar echt. En Jezus wachtte op mij. Ik ben Zijn lieveling.

En daar had Hij weer een weg gevonden om mijn hart te raken en me te laten zien hoe gepassioneerd Hij is over mij. En wat doe ik? Ahw ik vergeet God zo vaak lieve mensen. Maar Hij vergeet mij nooit! En Hij geniet telkens als ik terug kom bij Papa. Ik leer mezelf aan om elke ochtend goeiemorgen te zeggen tegen de Heilige Geest. En ik leer mezelf aan om in elke sms die ik stuur een gebedje mee te sturen wat ik uit bid over die persoon. En zo word ik continu herinnerd aan Gods aanwezigheid. Leer ik te praten met God over de kleine en grote dingen. Over mensen om me heen en over dingen waar ik zelf mee zit.

Ik dank God dat Hij ons niet te klein acht om Zich met ons te bemoeien. En dat Hij Zichzelf steeds zo groot betoont als Hij in Zijn genade weer een van die kleine probleempjes oplost. En me mijn sleutels terug laat vinden onder die vieze sok die half onder de kast verscholen ligt... (Bij wijze van spreken dan!)
God is geweldig en gepassioneerd over mij! Ik ben zijn favoriet! En Hij raakt me in de kleine en grote dingen. Recht in mijn hart, op de plekken die het nodig hebben aangeraakt te worden.

-8 januari 2008-

Een kort en klein getuigenis van mij. Ik wil laten zien hoe ik met God leef. Het is persoonlijk, maar juist persoonlijke verhalen kunnen ook anderen helpen. En ik wil dat mijn leven met God een open boek is voor anderen. Door de makkelijke en geweldige perioden, en door de gevechten heen. Je mag nu beslissen om niet door te lezen.

Afgelopen weken ben ik een beetje afgeleid. Afgeleid van de schoolwerkzaamheden, in contact met anderen. Eigenlijk is er gewoon iets wat steeds mijn aandacht pakt. Ik ben namelijk verliefd. En als je me een beetje kent, weet je dat ik dat wel één van de minst mooie gevoelens vind die er bestaan. Ja, wel mooi voor anderen. Een film waarin twee mensen verliefd zijn, of wanneer ik zie dat en koppeltje verliefd is, ben ik zo blij voor hen. Echt, dat is gewoon prachtig. De vlinders in je buik, de hartslag die omhoog gaat wanneer je diegenen ziet of hoort. Gelukzalig.

Ook ik heb die vlindertjes, een op hol geslagen hartje en krijgt het warm van binnen. Alleen, er is een kleine kink in de kabel. Ik val op jongens. Vanuit mijn geloofsovertuigingen heb ik besloten om geen relatie aan te gaan met een jongen. Om één of andere reden heeft God dingen in de Bijbel geschreven waar vanuit ik op maak dat Hij een relatie tussen twee mannen, zoals tussen een man en een vrouw, verkeerd vindt. En omdat Hij degene is die ik wil volgen, omdat Hij God is, wil ik naar Hem luisteren.

Mijn hart (d.w.z. mijn verlangen) richt ik op God. Echter, mijn hele hart? Want waarom zou er strijd zijn in mijn binnenste, wanneer ik mijn hele verlangen op Hem richt? Hoe dan ook: mijn hersenen zeggen het éne, mijn hart zegt twee andere dingen. Vervolgens begin ik langzaamaan gek te worden. En wanneer ik er niet meer uit kom, kan ik maar één ding doen: bidden en Bijbellezen. Omdat die zaken mij terug brengen naar mijn Bron. Mijn Vader.

Vóór God leg ik al mijn gedachten en gevoelens neer in gebed. Dat Hij mijn nummer één is, dat ik niet mijn leven lang alleen wil blijven, dat ik verlang naar iemand die ik lief kan en mag hebben. En ik bid om wijsheid. Stel dat ik op een zijspoor zit. Denkende te doen wat God behaagt, maar in feite mij richt op wetten waar God een andere bedoeling mee heeft, dan een relatie in de weg staan. Of iets anders waar ik geen weet van heb. Ik claim niet de waarheid in pacht te hebben. Alleen zolang ik niet van God en de Bijbel een andere keuze zie, wil ik geen andere keuze maken.

Na mijn gebed heb ik de Bijbel opengeslagen om te zien of God iets door zijn Woorden zegt tot mij. Altijd link om maar gewoon de Bijbel open te slaan, maar God is een persoon zonder twee gezichten, alles wat er staat is waar, alleen niet alles heeft op dat moment betrekking op je. Ik kwam uit bij een paar woorden en een tekst uit die mijn aandacht pakte.

Het eerste was in de evangeliën. Er staat dat Jezus nooit iets sprak tot de menigte mensen, dan alleen in gelijkenissen. In het oude testament kwam ik bij een gebed van Salomo, bij het in gebruik nemen van de tempel. Het ging over wanneer er zonden waren, en Israël zou bidden voor vergeving, dat Salomo de zekerheid uitspreekt dat God zal vergeven. Een zin viel mij op: “Want Gij wijst hun de goede weg waarop zij moeten wandelen”. Ik mag erop vertrouwen dat God mij ook zal leiden op de weg die ik moet bewandelen. Uit datzelfde hoofdstuk kwam ik bij: “hoor Gij dan uit de hemel, en grijp in”. Over een onschuldige die onrecht over zich afroept door een vervloeking (als ik het tenminste goed lees). Hoe dan ook: dit gebed van Salomo zie ik ook als het uitspreken van een zekerheid. Wanneer ik misschien op een dwaalspoor zit en doe waarvan ik denk dat het de juiste weg is, maar God heeft het niet zo bedoelt, dan zal Hij ingrijpen.

Na het bidden, voelde me ik rustiger. Misschien heeft God het van mij nodig, dat ik mijn leven zo leef als nu. Zonder relatie. Als God het anders heeft bedoelt, sta ik er open voor mocht Hij het mij duidelijk maken.

Dit was in het kort een stukje van mijn leven met God. Ik hoop dat je er wat aan had. En nog één ding: wees niet lauw in geloof. Je weet van jezelf of je in God gelooft of niet. Laat dat ook merken in je leven.

What to do if you started your research at Google or another web search engine...

Google, Yahoo, etc. aren't bad.  Sometimes they can lead you to relevant, good information.  You just have  to look at your source carefully and evaluate it.

Now, if you pop up a result that tells you that you need to pay access to view an article-Don't!

You should, instead, check our library holdings!  If we don't own it, Interlibrary Loan (http://library.ucok.edu/services/serv_ill.cfm) it!

Now, how do you check our holdings?

Simple.

Remember that Google search we did in class?

Well, that first result leads you to an abstract of a journal article but in order to access the actual article-- A prospective study of disordered eating among sorority and nonsorority women-- you would have to pay to access the journal. Ha!

But, if we were library-savvy individuals (and you all are now!)

Look at that page!  What journal is that article from?  Well, I see...

So copy the International Journal of Eating Disorders and take that to our library homepage (http://library.ucok.edu/) and go to the far right-hand side of our website and click on the 4^th tab over titled "Journal Titles".  Paste the name of the journal there and once you hit search-- If we own access (either print or electronic), the name of the journal will appear in a new window with a "Find It" button.

Hit the "Find It" button and now you will see what holdings (print or electronic) we have plus you will notice a "Check Ulrich's" link.

Remember, Ulrich's is the periodical checker and will tell you whether the journal you're accessing is peer-reviewed or not.  Pretty helpful especially if you're starting with Google, Yahoo, etc.

**Please note, that you can always access Ulrich's directly by visiting our databases' page and selecting the letter "U" from the alphabetical listing across the top.  Ulrich's is the ONLY database that starts with the letter U**

If I was still trying to access that A prospective study of disordered eating among sorority and nonsorority women article, I would then just click the first "Full Text" link, and once on that journal record's page, go to the far right-hand side and hit the expansion plus sign next to 2004 then click into volume 35, issue 3 and go to page 354.  Voila!  There's the article, in its entirety, for free!

That's why libraries rock...

Well, that was fine and dandy but maybe you want faster results and not lots of clicking and going back and forth between pages...

If you need article, just click on

Find Articles (Databases) (http://library.ucok.edu/databases/index.html) link

Once on the databases' page, you will notice that in the upper left-hand corner there is a databases sorter option.  Here, you can click on Psychology and the recommended Psychology databases will pop up, etc.  (http://library.ucok.edu/guides/dats.cfm?SID=psyc&page=Psychology)

The first database, PsycInfo, is the database I demoed in class.

And, remember, we added a couple of tricks to our database search.

First, we added a * to the end of disorders and sororities.

"eating disorder*" soror*

Because, now, the database is looking for the words: disorder, disorders, sororities, sorority, etc., etc.

Another trick we added was that OR

"eating disorder*" or bulimi* soror*

So now the databases is searching for anything dealing with eating disorders/disorder and sororities/sorority OR bulimia/bulimic/bulimics and sororities/sorority

Pretty cool, heh?

so here is what they do, they sell products that are not illegal at all and are in fact perfectly legal vitamin mixtures which are labeled with names or nick manes of anabolic steroids such as winny, (Winstrol Depot) or Deca, (Nandrolone Deconate) so what they are actually selling has nothing to do with anabolic steroids,
this is why these scam sites can continue to operate they are not breaking any laws! how this was found out was the DEA actually ordered

How To Spot These Scam Sites!
here are some basic but stricked guidelines for spotting these steroid scams,

1.
They accept credit card or bankcard payment, i believe that any website offering any payment method other than western union payment is a scam.
The reason genuine steroids websites can not offer a credit card payment for genuine steroids is those funds would have to go in to a bank account which of course would have to be opened with a legitimate name so therefor Law Enforcement Agencies would track those guys down quite easily.

2.
Any website that publishes videos about steroids with a person visible in the video is a scam website.
The reason this is true is that genuine steroid websites need to keep a low profile so to speek, so showing there face on video is not possible for owners of genuine steroid websites.

These above two ways to spot scam steroid websites are definitely certain indicators of a scam steroid websites.
Other things that indicate a scam steroid website in my experience and research are any websites calling themselves online pharmacies, these are generally scam websites that will not send you anything at all they obviously don’t get any return business they specialize in the one off scam and they get away with this because the person that got ripped off does not complain for obvious reasons.

How To buy Steroids Safely Online.
The key to purchasing steroids online safely and discreetly depends on the website that you order with, if they have the correct payment procedure then your purchase will not get you in trouble legally even though the order is posted to you.
here are some possible scenarios when buying genuine steroids online,
