Well, that's all the nice tidy house photos that I could find - when the hall is finished I will have a mass cleaning day and take lots of nice estate agent style photos. Then I'll either post them on here or on flickr.

These games should prove to be highly enthaling and I would like to see Essex go on to at least make the final in the evening, and secure a champions league place.

Another cricket game taking place, is Sri Lanka v India, and the Sri Lankan's are turning the screw ever so slightly, however, I suspect we are looking at a very flat wicket and I expect India to come out and knock just as many runs, when Sri Lanka finally decide to give them a turn!

It's quite nice to go out and not see so many chavs which is why I thought I should write about them before they become extinct but now that I've started writing about them I can't honestly think what else to write about. My sister-in-law was induced today to have her first child - not heard of any news yet so I imagine she is still at it! I'm on holiday all of next week. I'm drinking a beer as I write this and hope to go to the pub soon. Hoping to go ice-skating tomorrow and at the same time pop in to see my new niece or nephew (the hospital and ice rink are next door to each other!). Everyone knows BCCI's stand on ICL contracted players but today they have taken it to a completely different level. The current diktat issued by the BCCI is absolutely ridiculous. BCCI has barred the Indian players from signing with any English counties who have ICL players in them. This is absolute nonsense. BCCI is a cricket governing body of India but they behave as if they are governing world cricket.

BCCI has no rights to say what the ECB should be doing with their domestic tournament. Piyush chawla who is currently not a part of the Indian test squad to Srilanka was supposed to join Hampshire in the current season. Now BCCI has denied Piyush the opportunity as Hampshire has ICL linked players in their team. There are only three counties which dont have any ICL links and they are Middlesex, Somerset and Essex. This means that Laxman who was supposed to join Northamptonshire after the test series would not be able to do so either.

BCCI's ongoing tussle with Subhash Chandra (Essel Group, Founder of ICL) is causing a major divide in world cricket. Already some good international players have been lost due to this ongoing battle. BCCI has already started their own league successfully and I dont think that ICL is causing any harm to them in terms of revenue. If BCCI open their eyes to the fact that ICL and IPL can coexist then it will be better for world cricket.

I dont understand why other cricketing nations should suffer due to this stand from BCCI. Already Newzealand has lost one of their premier strike bowler Shane Bond and Pakistan has lost players like Azhar Mahmood and Razzak. Playing in county cricket might have given young Piyush with a great opportunity early in his career. BCCI tried to stop the counties from signing up the players from ICL, when they did not adhere to their threats now they are stopping Indians from participating in county cricket.

ECB has nothing to lose if Piyush decides not to join Hampshire. Its sad to see that now Indian cricketers are also suffering due this ridiculous fight between BCCI and the ICL. BCCI have made the point with IPL and have made lots of money and I guess thats where this fight should end. The problem is BCCI has lots of ego and unfourtunately unless the ICC takes some stand on this issue the problem will never end. Being an Indian supporter I just feel ashamed of this behaviour from BCCI and I am sure that they are not earning too many fans accross the world with this latest stunt.

I have read a number of articles saying you should support your local suppler, they all make a lot of sense. We were always going to do this anyway... I'm the opposite of a lot of people, rather than go and look in the shops and then buy things cheaper online, I tend to look online and then go and get them from a real person in a shop, even if I have to pay a bit more. I think this is especially important when buying something like fish!
And besides, these are Matilda's fish, she will buy them with her pocket money. As they don't let 6 year olds drive, we needed to find a good retailer within walking distance.

We actually got the idea about getting her an aquarium while in a local pet shop and I though I could take her to a large aquatic centre in the next town where I used to spend my lunch hours many years ago. Now I realize why so many people say that you should find a trusted local supplier. The state of some of the fish tanks was a disgrace. Some had cloudy water, a couple were thick with algae... I can't believe they got this way overnight. I know these are common problems, but they are basic problems and if anybody can sort them out, you would think a pet shop can.

Obviously I think it's a great idea to get tropical fish for children, but they are not toys. Nor should they be treated as a commodity by a franchise store.

Dance music will always be my first love for music but during the 90s there was also the "Britpop" scene. So I also got into music from Happy Mondays, Blur and Oasis. I actually went to see Blur at the Kilburn Ballroom before their huge second album. So I spent most of the nineties listening to Britpop in the car and dancing away at home or in clubs to house music. By the end of the nineties dance music had changed a lot too - The Prodigy was using more 'real' instruments in their records and it was so much more commercial. Madonna was making dance records! Learning the names of the birds and plants around us is one way to live deeply in a place, to start the process of becoming local. And the more deeply we live in a place, the more we understand the impact of our decisions. When I leave the lights on at my house, I am using more coal from Tabaco, Colombia, to fire up the power plant across the river. When I buy books, I am supporting the economic and cultural vitality of Salem.
