Anyway, this synthpop indie rock band is joining Beck's tour in the fall and will also be headlining two back to back shows next week with Violens at Paradise.

In other (really old) news what's up with the new not as cool "Electric Feel" video? The interactive original was amazing and made me feel like a cool video editor or something but the new not interective video is just "trippy"...and I hate that adjective.

The video is a mix between the sweaty Zion dance party scene in The Matrix, the Ewok village in Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, and Crazytown's music video for their hit "Butterfly." Ew.

As the final scene of Skins’ second series played out to the opening bleeps of ‘Time To Pretend’, the nation came down with a heavy dose of MGMTitis. It’s a bit like meningitis, only you feel less shit and hallucinate tie-dye patterns while developing an insatiable desire to wear a bandanna. That bloody song has been stuck in the teen nation’s heads ever since and, like a hippy to an illegal rave, Brighton’s contingent are drawn to tonight’s gig in their stoned droves.

With a flute-featuring hippy-dippy band in tow, the duo take to the stage, Andrew VanWyngarden clad in some kind of purple and orange dressing-gown get-up, his bare and hairless boy-chest exposed for all to see. Those expecting an adrenaline-fuelled electro-disco fresh from the NYC underground to kick in are slightly puzzled when what ensues is a warbling and stretched out 10-minute slice of psychedelic noise. MGMT don’t blast you between the eyeballs, you see, they slowly lure you into their green fog of hypnotic guitars and fuzzy synths. By the time the sleazy ‘Electric Feel’ is in full swing, the audience, complete with the still-undecideds, are theirs for the taking. Said song is George Michael circa 1984 French-kissing Jimi Hendrix, ‘The Youth’ is Mick Jagger releasing white butterflies and, when ‘Time To Pretend’ finally arrives, despite apparently being delivered begrudgingly (and thus slightly lacking its recorded sprightliness), euphoria of course ensues. VanWyngarden is always the focal point – dreamy yet focused throughout, only breaking his between-song trance to thank the audience and comment on tonight’s full moon, which is shining over the still sea right outside the venue. How very, like, apt.

And if MGMT are bringing back the Summer Of Love to a generation who were born decades too late, tonight they are doing so in meticulous detail. Once the show is over, the band host their own private after-party, proceeding to lock themselves in the VIP room with a gaggle of giggling girls. Peace and love, maaan.

Apesar da grande vontade de levar o trabalho adiante, os dois músicos disseram que é difícil encontrar tempo na agenda para compor. O MGMT (lê-se Management) apontado pelo menos desde o início do ano como "a nova promessa" da música alternativa e faz uma incansável turnê mundial, que deve se estender até novembro. A dupla está entre os boatos da escalação do Tim Festival, que acontece em outubro no Brasil.

O álbum de estréia do MGMT foi elogiado pela crítica e a banda foi comparada a artistas como Muse e Mew, com influências do britpop do início dos anos 1990. A dupla fez apresentações concorridas nos festivais de Bonnaroo, nos EUA, e de Glastonbury, na Inglaterra.

O último single do grupo, "Electric Feel", foi lançado no dia 23 de junho e ganhou um remix da duplca eletrônica francesa Justice. Outras canções de sucesso do primeiro disco do MGMT são "Time to Pretend", "Weekend Wars" e "Kids" (tocada por 11 entre 10 DJs do circuito alternativo do Brasil). As músicas podem ser ouvidas no MySpace da banda.

it's seldom i get to listen to something before i read about it, but that's exactly what happened when the yapster put MGMT's (pronounced "management") debut album oracular spectacular in my hands two weeks ago. one of the standout moments was this glam-soaked affair in the middle of the record called electric feel. well, the song just got released as a single last week, and look who remixed the 7" b-side? i expected no less from french duo justice than a perfect shot of dirt and grime, and that's what i got.

Ummm, best of both worlds? I about flipped when I stumbled on this today. Certified BNGR. I love the original song so much and this is just as good.

Als er iemand Jamie Lidell van de top stoot is het Sam Sparro (niet te verwarren met Pirates 'Jack Sparrow'). Black & Gold is een topper maar Sick en Too many questions zijn het helemaal! Okay, so technically not much by way of guitar on this track, but the guitar dudes are mad fans of MGMT and their brand of psychedelic rock. Maybe you're already familiar with them, but two tracks you might of missed. One, fast forward the CD to the last track and check out Future Reflections. This is basically stardust era Bowie, an incredible build that you might have passed up.

Also there's this musician Justice that doesn't use a guitar but somehow still wants to be taken seriously. Nice try, asshat. He did a remix of Electric Feel that's pretty good but that's probably all we'll hear from him. Get back to your Mel Bay's and we'll talk later.

"On my own again" is a good track to get a summer evening started, and once you're really in the mood for dancing, you can play the remix of MGMT's Electric feel by Justice
 This track is a dancefloor killer. If you like MGMT's latest album (Oracular Spectacular) and also appreciate the sound of Justice, then you'll love that track, this is to become a club hit for the summer, for sure.

Hey, remember when I posted that awful radio rip of this about a month ago and then we never heard anything more about it? Yeah, that kinda upset me too, what with how great the track sounded from the preview and everything. Luckily, Kidz by Colette came back and revived this one by posting the CD Quality version earlier today. According to Hipster Runoff, who ridicules MGMT and Justice on a routine basis, this track totally qualifies as a BNGR. If you haven't checked out that website yet, don't waste any time in getting over there and laughing your face off.

Although remixing songs has been around a long time, it's just a bit out of control.

Today I heard a remix of "Electric Feel" by MGMT, and it was all together just wrong. The song is so good alone, nothing will be as good.

I know this song isn't new, but it is amazing. Before now I'd only seen a fan vid, made using the interactive game on the bands website in which you can pick your own backgrounds, etc. You can imagine my joy then, in discovering that this gem of a song has it's very own video!

Think The Never Ending Story, think Peter Pan's Neverland, think Jim Henson's Creature Workshop, think psychedelic Prince-influenced falsetto, think spliffs. Think all of this and you'll get the feel of this MGMT video.  

Motorbikes bursting through the moon in flames, Andrew playing some kind of weird horn, strange woodland animals playing instruments, a forest full of elf/pixie revellers, you'll love it.

From "Oracular Spectacular", MGMT's "Electric Feel".

It's somewhat difficult to describe "Electric Feel" by Brooklyn's MGMT (pictured above). To my ears, it sounds like a combination of the Bee Gees of the late 1970s with "Solsbury Hill"-era Peter Gabriel. Whatever MGMT's intent, the song works, and it works well. It's a good song to listen to on one of those lazy summer afternoons at the beach. I've got a feeling that it's going to be a sizable hit on both sides of the Atlantic. It's already getting quite a bit of airplay on the UK music radio stations like XFM London.

Mas como os fãs de Andrew VanWyngarden e cia. respondem por parte do sucesso (?) deste blog, nada mais justo do que colocar a versão definitiva de Electric Feel.

On est loin d'être en avance sur ce coup là, mais on se devait de vous donner des nouvelles du groupe Justice : leur agenda est sûrement aussi rempli que celui d'un ministre ! Au programme, finir leur tournée, quelques festivals cet été, des remixs, et... se remettre au boulot pour un second album !

Du côté de la tournée, tout va bien pour les deux justiciers. Selon la plupart des gens, ce live 2008 serait bien meilleur que ce que le groupe proposait en 2007. Il vous reste quelques chances de les voir cette année, notamment le 29 août à Rock en Seine.

Justice n'accepte plus de remixs, mais termine ses contrats : un (très bon) remix du Electric Feel des new-yorkais de MGMT, et, prochainement, un remix complet du dernier album du rappeur Lupe Fiasco. Après Daft Punk vs. Kanye West, voilà une nouvelle confrontation entre french touch et rap US... qui vivra verra ;)

Xavier de Rosnay, lui, a remixé le Live fast! Die old! de Munk en compagnie de SebastiAn au sein de Ed Banger All Stars.

Enfin, Gaspard et Xavier ont du réfléchir pendant leur longue tournée, et il se pourrait bien qu'ils rentrent en studio juste après la fin de celle-ci. Avec un peu de chance, leur album sortira en même temps que celui des Daft Punk :)

PS : Pour info, Ed Banger Records a réalisé un chiffre d'affaire de 210 000 euros en 2006, sans doute bien plus en 2007, chapeau Mr-je-transforme-en-or-ce-que-je-touche-Winter. :D

Accompanying the release is some quality remix by not only the french electro monster group Justice but also a crazy insane bmore version from Leif…
The Justice remx is pretty much what you would expect with some dirty crunchy synths injected at all the right places, meanwhile Leifs guttering of the track is totally delicious, he’s upped the tempo and given it some fun horn stabs and vocal samples.

Both fun but the orignal is the joint right there for me.
MGMT hit the UK for a tour this November.

Si hace poco que MGMT desveló su segundo sencillo para Oracular Speactacular, es ahora que Justice nos presenta su remezcla.

En su versión, Justice, ha aplicado su estilo inconfundible de distorsiones y beats imposibles para darle un efecto más bailable. Pero a su vez, no es estridente ni molesta, como otras producciones, para quien no esté acostumbrado a ello. Aquí, podemos identificar bastante bién que se trata de Electric Feel de MGMT, cosa que no pasa con el remix de Violet Hill de Coldplay.

A mi modo de ver, una buena versión de un buen tema, al que le da la posibilidad de entrar en los clubs, cuando no lo tenía previsto. Un poco como el remix que hicieron del Never Be Alone de Simian, salvando las grandes distancias.
