I do think most of us are misinterpretting the duty as a sacrifice and thus the ego of giving up itself is the cause for the pain. Our  thoughts and actions will have an end result and it will be dictated by the almighty.

Planned to review. It was not as hot as the other day. But definitely not my type of weather. Wasn't able to review because we had a case. Finally. Just got in the delivery room and put my gloves in time. Was able to see how a baby is delivered. Was surprised. Pregnant woman was primigravida. Delivered baby so fast! People in the room were surprised too. Provided cord care to the baby. Injected baby with Vitamin K, intramuscularly. Done APGAR scoring. Another student from another school almost cut the cord without clamping. Freakish. She thought she was holding the clamp. Good thing her CI was able to stop her in time. Spent time inside the DR for 1.5 hours. Ate liempo for dinner. So delicious. Left hospital earlier that usual.

Before this wedding, I had been in one other bridal party, another Bridezilla-free affair. When looking down the road towards other weddings I could be involved with at one level or another, they also seem to be monster-free, because, well, none of my friends are obsessive about various shades of ecru.

It seems to me, however, that while there are still Bridezillas in the world, there is an even scarier trend in Bridal Land--princesses.

Maybe it's because I watch too much Style or We, but more and more brides seem to becoming princesses. When I write princesses, I mean having big, extravagant affairs, with every detail in perfect harmony done to full excess. While these weddings are pretty to look at, I can't help but think, it's only one day, with loads of money invested, but what about the love involved, is that invested? Women will go too extreme measures to have the most romantic, heavenly day of their lives, but will they put the same effort into their marriages?

Brides as princesses have hit a new level, as noted in The New York Times yesterday--Botox for Bridesmaids! I can't think of a single of friend of mine who would say, darling, I love you, but I love my wedding more, it's Botox for you.

Whatever happened to having your nails done, a lunch, maybe some champagne? Somewhat understandably, the women profiled in The Times piece were older brides, but even so, with beauty procedures being incredibly expensive and time-consuming, how could you even bring yourself to request your bridesmaids to have breast enhancement, liposuction, or all be the same color (this article is fantastic, it's a real "I'm sane, you're not," pick-me-up.") Ms. Abby Ellin writes that "for every accommodating pal, there’s another who feels going under the knife is beyond the duty of bridesmaid."

Beyond the duty? Asking your bridesmaids to have breast enhancement is more than a duty, it's grounds to end the friendship. Unless the bride is like the one featured below, and you want them to hang around just to see what crazy stuff they spew out next.

This time, it seems the government was fiddling while Blue Chip investors' money was burning.

Maria Slade reports today that two brief cases of original documents were handed over to property consultant Olly Newland [left] who has been helping the victims and the Serious Fraud Office.

It appears the Inland Revenue Department was pressuring the Blue Chip group of companies for income tax payable in 2005.

The documents - 40 or 50 files in their original folders - reveal that the Blue Chip property investment group was being pressured by Inland Revenue over hundreds of thousands of dollars in unpaid tax as far back as 2005.

The group did not fall over until early this year, when 22 of its companies were placed in liquidation owing around $84 million.

So a government agency was having a tough time with Blue Chip company 2 to 3 years before the whistle was blown? I wonder how many people got burned after the government knew or should have known there was a public risk?

For sure, I'll get to experience how to deliver a baby (did I use the right term? Argh. Dunno), cut the cord, bathe the baby with oil, inject Vitamin K, and whatnot. This makes me scared!

The thing is, there are only few cases in the hospital where we are currently having our duty. So... everyday is always a rest day. Haha. If during the last rotation we barely eat during breaks, this time, every hour is lunch/merienda/dinner time! Haha. Actually, because of the endless breaks that we have, I've already finished doing my requirement for tomorrow. Hehe.

During our first day in that hospital, we were able to see how dilation and curettage is done (just search the interwebz about it). I don't know how to react, but I wanted to go out of the delivery room while it was being performed.

Last Wednesday, I was supposed to watch how a baby is delivered, but by the time I got inside, my group mate was already holding the baby. I missed the action. Boo. That's because I had to change my clothes. Haay. And oh, may kakambal yung baby! May kakambal na... ebak. Gross. The DR was stinking.

There was also an incident that happened (it doesn't involve any patient). But I don't want to share it. Perhaps, I'll make it private. Besides, I don't have time anymore.

First Day
June 16. Just pure orientation. Toured around the hospital. Didn't do anything special. Didn't handle any patients. Was relieved. Waiting for 8:30 pm (dismissal time) was a pain in the ass.

The Patients
June 17. Started to handle patients by day two. Ward stinks. Two students is to one patient ratio. Great. Partner was okay. Didn't give me a hard time. Patient was only 17. Primigravida (first time to be pregnant). Twins, still pregnant. Thinking for a nursing diagnosis was hard. Patient looked stronger than me. Patient was good, very talkative. Turns out she's a nursing student. Didn't eat anything at all. Busy. NPO. Haha. Got home really tired.

June 18. Two students is to one patient ratio... still. Second patient was younger. 16. Pregnant no more. Had delivered a baby girl. First time to be pregnant too. Thinking of a nursing diagnosis was easy this time. Acute pain. Because of episiorrhaphy. Trying to elicit Moro reflex from a baby is fun! Saw how to remove IV cannula (swero). Saw how to clean baby's cord.

June 23. No classes! YAY!

June 24. Two students is to one patient ratio... still. OB ward was relocated! Woot! Ward looked nice. Next patient had spontaneous abortion. Read: spontaneous abortion (not induced!). Had excessive blood loss. Resulted to anemia. For D&C (raspa). Patient was cured from anemia when we met her. Interviewed patient for case study. Has six children! Copied numerous parts of the chart.

June 25. One student is to one patient! Whaa. Handled the same patient.

June 30. Start of morning shift (7:00am-3:00pm). Didn't handle a patient. Was the leader for the day. Very tiring... but boring. Got sad. Group mate's patient had a false pregnancy. Endorsed to the nurse on duty. The nurse was funny. Turned out she's a schoolmate back in grade school.

July 01. Didn't handle any patients. There were other students from another school in the ward. Just waited for dismissal time to come.

July 02. Patient was restless... it was hot in the ward. Kept asking me to bathe baby. Has five children! Annoyed me.

July 07. Patient was funny. Got admitted again a few days after discharge due to amoebiasis. Patient asked me to call her "ate" and not "nanay". LOL. Patient had so many medications! By the end of our shift, patient was hypertensive. Patient badly missed her baby (her first child). She wanted to go home. Asked me something I don't know. Haha. Turns out she's my last patient for our first rotation.

July 08. Learned how to inject. Got injected three times. Injected my partner three times too. It was very painful! Pain scale: 11 out of 10 (ten is the most painful, 1 is the least). LOL. I hope I still know how to inject. Haha. Tried to insert an IV cannula. Success! w00t! Didn't handle patients! Got dismissed earlier.

July 09. Just had our oral defense for our case study. Clinical Instructor was really good to us. Thanks, Ma'am! Got dismissed earlier. Was treated by his group mate (who had her birthday) and CI. Was really full. Had a big hamburger, pizza, iced tea plus ice cream!

Group Mates
I hate half of them. Bow. Especially that stupid girl! Very irresponsible. Whole group knows I hate her. Haha. I don't care. A friend asked me if I wanted to have a new group. I said "yes" even though my group mates could clearly hear me.

Conclusion
Tiring. Just makes me hate BS Nursing even more. Sorry, nursing is not really my thing.

Americans just weren't ready to warm up to the idea of a condiment heiress strolling down the hallowed halls of the White House barefoot after midnight swilling a glass of expensive Chablis.

Even if they do like ketchup on their potatoes!

If Michelle perfects the image of the "dutiful" mate, she'll manage to pass the smell test.

At that juncture, Americans may conveniently forget the unsavory remarks about being - "proud of being an American for the first time" - and let the two of you get on with the journey (wherever it may lead) in life!

Although I never have expectations for any of my Flash's turn-outs, I must say that I am a bit disappointed of it's score. I attribute it's downfall due to the Anti-Clock controversy. People think that it is meant to be against the Clock Crew.

Let me be the first to say that it absolutely is not against the Clock Crew. I'm just simply trying to make an entertaining story. (Clock Crew vs. Tank Men) Comments on what you think of the controversy would be welcome.

In other news, I'm back to playing Halo 3 again. In my opinion, it's multiplayer is simply unrivaled as far as gaming goes at this time.

I've also been playing a tad of Rock Band. I was playing it with Luis yesterday. (Luis on guitar, myself on vocals) We chose random, and got "Dead on Arrival" by Fall Out Boy. Although a terrible song, we still got 4 stars. Of course, I was singing on easy, so perhaps that doesn't count.
