Dry air and biting wind can become the reason of dryness, a peeling and irritation of your skin. Here simple winter helps of care which can help to prevent to you the dry and cracked skin. Follow these simple councils and enjoy the cold weathers, all season long.

In the morning it is necessary to freshen dry skin with warm water or special water Not containing alcohol. After that it is necessary to put a day cream, easy on a consistence, but under the maintenance rich, that is incorporating oils and humidifying substances. Besides it, the day cream should contain Uf-filters which will protect a skin from light ageing.

To clear a skin is better a soft milk which contains, besides everything, calming and nutrients in the evening. The cosmetic milk is dissolved in water, therefore it can be washed off simply warm water . If water very rigid at a dry skin it is recommended to moisten after washing a wadded tampon with special water for the person (without the alcohol maintenance) and cautiously to wipe a skin. Otherwise the rests of salts will dry a skin. Then it is necessary to put the night cream rich with fats and humidifying substances.

Enjoy the beauty!

When we create a new Rails project a database.yml is created for us, and it looks like this one:

development:
 adapter: mysql
 encoding: utf8
 database: project_development
 username: root
 password: password
 socket: /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock

test:
 adapter: mysql
 encoding: utf8
 database: project_test
 username: root
 password: password
 socket: /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock

 adapter: mysql
 encoding: utf8
 database: project_production
 username: root
 password: password
 socket: /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock

But, RoR is strongly based on DRY (Don't Repeat Yourself) concept. And, as we can see, we have a lot of duplicated lines here.

If we pay attention, some lines of the database.yml file are repeated on development, test and production databases, and for most of the projects we have this databases on the same local. So, we have some lines repeated:

 adapter: mysql
 encoding: utf8
 username: root
 password: password
 socket: /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock

Googling, you can find a "DRY database.yml" scratched like this one:

login: &login
 adapter: mysql
 username: root
 password: password
 socket: /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock

development:
 <<: *login
 database: project_development

test:
 <<: *login
 database: project_test

production:
 <<: *login
 database: project_production

But, for me we still have some duplicated lines, and I don't like it. So here goes the "DRier database.yml":

login: &login
 adapter: mysql
 username: root
 password: password
 host: localhost

<% ["development", "test", "production"].each do |environment| %>
<%= environment %>:
 <<: *login
 database: biblemarks_<%= environment %>
<% end %>

Enjoy it!

Ao criar um novo projeto rails é criado juntamente com o projeto um arquivo database.yml parecido com este:

development:
 adapter: mysql

 username: root
 password: password

 database: project_test
 username: root
 password: password
 socket: /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock

production:
 adapter: mysql
 encoding: utf8
 database: project_production
 username: root
 password: password

login: &login
 adapter: mysql
 username: root
 password: password
 socket: /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock

development:
 <<: *login
 database: project_development

test:
 <<: *login
 database: project_test

production:
 <<: *login
 database: project_production

Mas, concordemos que ainda existe uma certa duplicação de código. Então lá vai a versão DRier do database.yml:

login: &login
 adapter: mysql
 username: root
 password: password
 host: localhost

<% ["development", "test", "production"].each do |environment| %>
<%= environment %>:
 <<: *login
 database: biblemarks_<%= environment %>
<% end %>

Slightly above normal temperatures...
Record low rainfall total...

September 2008 Local Climatological Data: http://www.tswo.net/LCD_2008_09.pdf .

Monthly Climate Summary for September 2008: http://www.tswo.net/MONTHLYCLIMATESUMMARY.html .

TEMPERATURE:
September 2008 was slightly warmer than normal, averaging 71.9 degrees, 1.4 degrees above normal.

The highest temperature for the month was 92 degrees on the 13th. The lowest temperature for the month occurred on the 25th, with a minimum temperature of 48 degrees.

There were four days with high temperatures of 90 degrees or more, bringing the total for the year to 53.

PRECIPITATION:
The month was well below normal, with a total of 1.08 inches of precipitation, 2.89 inches below the normal of 3.97 inches, or just 27% of normal. This was also the lowest monthly rainfall total for September, easily beating the old record of 1.98 inches set in 2006.

The greatest 24 hour total was set on the 5th, with 1.07 inches of rain.

The only other day with measurable precipitation was the 14th, when 0.01" of rain was measured. This was also the result of the remnants of Hurricane Ike moving rapidly through the Ohio Valley.

Thunderstorms occurred on one day (5th).

No severe weather was recorded at the observatory, however, two men were killed when a tree fell on them in Davidson County. A result of high winds on the 14th. Again, associated with the remnants of Ike.

DRY CONDITIONS:

The unusually dry September has meant that drought conditions are creeping back into the Mid State. As of September 23rd, the U.S. Drought Monitor has all of Williamson County under Abnormally Dry conditions, with the northeastern half of the county under Moderate Drought Conditions.

At the observaoty, rainfall totals, Year-to-Date, have amounted to 35.23 inches, 6.99 inches below the normal of 42.22 inches, or 83% of normal. For the most recent 12 month period (Oct 1, 2007 to Sep 30, 2008), rainfall has totalled 49.35 inches, 7.68 inches below the normal of 57.03 inches, or 87% of normal.

Hi everybody! We're back from our weekend break. We got back yesterday, but I was too busy preparing English coursework to post. What did we do? I'll tell you!

We went to Warmwell holiday park, near Weymouth, and stayed in a nice little wooden lodge. We were supposed to have a two bedroom lodge, but luckily we were upgraded to a three bedroom, so I didn't have to sleep in the same room as Harry. When we arrived on Friday, we wandered round before checking in and dumping our stuff in the lodge.

Harry then got changed ready for his skiing lesson at 2 o'clock. It wasn't real skiing, mind, it was a dry slope. Anyway, he had a half an hour lesson, during which he spent a lot of time sitting down after falling over. By the end, his trousers were absolutely soaking wet. Afterwards, we went back so Harry could get changed, then we went to the play park and then went mini bowling in the arcade. The bowling cheated - it only counted two out of most of the shots, even when we knocked over about eight! Next, we went to get a ready meal for tea, then we went to watch a very exciting (read: so boring I wanted to run under a bus) pantomime. About six other people attended. That's how good it was.

On Saturday, we started off by going to the restaurant for breakfast. I had a breakfast bap, that is, a roll with bacon, sausage and egg, and a pot of tea. Afterwards, we drove into Weymouth town centre to buy something for lunch and a book to read. I got Along Came A Spider by James Patterson. After that, we went back to the holiday park and went swimming. There was also a giant chess set there, so I set about teaching Harry the basics. After lunch, I had an hour's skiing session and Harry had another half an hour. Obviously, I didn't fall over as much (*cough*) because I'm so much better! We then went to the roller rink, where I learnt to skate properly. In the evening, we stayed in the lodge to watch X-Factor and You've Been Framed to spare ourselves from the appalling "entertainment". We also watched Mock the Week and Live At the Apollo.

Finally, on Sunday, we packed the stuff into the car, drove up and had breakfast. This time I had pancakes with syrup. Then, we went to play Pirate Golf (Arr!) and to the Sealife Centre. The Sealife was the worst part of the weekend - it's so boring! "Yay, there's a fish! Oh look, what's that? Ah, I know. It's another FISH!" Great fun, I don't think. When we had finished, we piled into the car and drove down to Poole, where we went real bowling. I scored 124, 126 and 133, but only won the first time! For lunch we had All-You-Can-Eat-Oriental-Buffet, which was quite yummy! Then we had to drive home again.

On the way home, we saw a road sign that pointed to Piddlehinton! What a place to live! Over the weekend, we had seen some very random names, including Affpuddle, Puddletown, Briantspuddle (notice a theme?!) and Bloxworth!

So that was our weekend! I had fun! Do you think it sounded fun?

What is Nail Fungus?
Also known as Onychomycosis , nail fungus is very common worldwide. Nail fungus

What is Nail Fungus?
Also known as Onychomycosis , nail fungus is very common worldwide. Nail fungus is caused by tiny organisms that infect the fingernails and toenails.

Nail fungus happens below the fingernails or toenails, making it difficult to reach and cure at times. The fungus thrives in places that are warm, moist and dark. This is the reason why many who wear shoes constantly in warmer climates have toenail fungus infections.

Common Causes of Toenail Fungus
Toenails are affected more by the nail fungus than fingernails. This is because of the ideal conditions present in the toenails for the breeding of the fungus. Toenail fungus occurs when the fungus gets under the toenails.

Common causes of toenail fungus may include:
-- A break in the nail, helping the fungus to enter.
-- Toenails that are weak due to wearing very tight-fitting shoes.
-- Wearing the same shoes daily without allowing them to dry thoroughly in between wearing them.
-- Most people cut toenails extremely close to the skin, causing multiple small cuts in the skin. These cuts allow the fungus to enter and spread.
-- Whenever your feet are damp for extended periods of time, the chances of getting the fungus increases.

Signs That Indicate Toenail Fungus
There are certain signs and symptoms that will warn you of toenail fungus.

-- Toenails get flaky
-- Toenails get brittle
-- Toenails keep getting chipped
-- Toenails get a yellow, black, or brown tinge or spots
-- Toenails get thick and pain while wearing shoes
-- A bad smell emanates under the toenails
-- While walking, the skin under your toenails feel a stinging pain due to the fungal infection.

Home Remedies to Treat Toenail Fungus
The moment you notice any symptoms of toenail fungus you can follow certain home remedies that will prove very effective in eliminating the spread of the fungus before it spreads. Toenail fungus is contagious, so the sooner you eliminate the fungus, the better.

Following are some home remedies that use commonly available ingredients to stop the growth of the fungus and eventually eliminate it.

Vinegar
Fill a basin with warm water and vinegar in equal proportion (any vinegar will do, but apple cider vinegar has proven more effective). Soak your toenails in this solution for about 20 minutes. Wipe your toes and toenails thoroughly with a dry towel and then with super absorbent paper. This should be done twice daily till symptoms disappear.

Tea Tree Oil
The uses of tea tree oil are many. Tea tree oil is a natural and powerful fungicide and antiseptic. Rub the affected toenail/s with a cotton ball dipped in tea tree oil. Do this twice daily, morning and just before going to bed (three times if possible) for maximum effect, until the fungus is gone.

Listerine
Almost all homes will have this mouthwash. Soak the affected toenail/s in Listerine for about 20 minutes twice daily. The antiseptic will help eradicate the fungus.

Rubbing Alcohol
Rubbing alcohol is easily available at any pharmacy. Soak the affected toenail/s in rubbing alcohol for about 20 minutes twice daily (morning and just before going to bed). Dry thoroughly using super absorbent paper towels.

Hydrogen Peroxide (3%)
Hydrogen Peroxide (3%) is easily available at any pharmacy. Soak the affected toenail/s in pure hydrogen peroxide (3%) for 20 minutes twice daily (morning and just before going to bed). Some may feel the pure undiluted solution a bit harsh. Mix half water and half hydrogen peroxide and soak feet. Dry with super absorbent paper towel.

Vicks Voporub
The efficacy of using Vicks for treatment of toenail fungus is not very clear. Many have found that using Vicks on the affected toenail/s has helped, and many have found no benefit. Vicks is known to stop the growth of the fungus, not eliminate it. You will have to use Vicks until the infected toenail grows out and a new one replaces it. Generally, it is advisable to try the other options instead of this one.

Conclusion
Try and avoid public shower stalls and bathrooms because these are places where the fungus thrive and you can be infected by the fungus left behind by someone else. Never use nail clippers belonging to someone else for the same reason. Whenever you are getting your nails clipped in a salon, make sure that the nail clipper has been disinfected. Nail fungus spreads, so the moment you know that you have nail fungus get it cured.

If you have not worn those sandals of yours for long because of toenail fungus, try out the home remedies. In most cases than not, they work very effectively. Get out those unused sandals; you will need them to flaunt your wonderful toenails in a very short while from now.

Today has been another dry day in Yorkshire, in more ways than one! First of all, today was gorgeous. It was one of the most beautiful days that I've had since I've lived here. It was perfect.

It wasn't only the weather that was dry...Erica was dry, too! We've been potty training slowly but surely since the the beginning of the summer, letting Kicks take the lead. She has been doing a great job since we got home, and has started wearing underpants some days. Today, she wore knickers all day, and we were out from 1 PM until 6 PM! She did a great job, using the bathroom at base and then at McDonald's. I can't believe my little girl is almost ready to stop using diapers!

Dry days mean messy days in our family, too. Here's what the girls looked like at the end of the day, finishing up some fudgcicles outside in the front garden.

The last few days have been quite dry in Chiang Mai. Feels like the wet season is drying up. Sure, its not suposed to end until november, but it was 2 months late this year. there was also widespread flooding in many parts of northern thailand. But it was never a monsoon. The rain in Chiang Mai came every day for months, but most of the day was dry and often sunny and hot.

Yet winter is coming, and it apparently means cool and dry weather. Add this to the already very flat Chiang Mai and it promises to be cycling heaven. Well, except for the traffic.

Since an oil painting typically needs a few days to dry I like to hang it up out of the way so the surface won't come into contact with anything and in a location that has less dust floating around. What I do is attach a "C" clamp to the stretcher, and hang it by the handle on a metal wall shelf as shown in the photo above. For large paintings I use a couple clamps near each corner. I can safely hang several side by side and they get plenty of air circulation. The clamps are only a couple dollars each.

After talking nappies with a friend I found out that it would be a good idea to write about why I chose to use cloth nappies.

My first reason is related to the protection of the environment: every year, 180 000 children using disposable nappies produce 60 000 tonns of garbage in Norway. If every family was to use cloth nappies, house waste would be reduced by 5%. It's just a little drop in the sea, that's true, but hard to ignore it when the future of our planet is at stake. Of course, there are always some people who like to argue with the fact that I use electricity and detergent to wash my nappies, which are not good for the environment at all. Yes, I do use electricity to wash the nappies, but no I do not use any detergent as I use either soap-nuts or a biowashball. And it is of course better to not use a tumble-drier to dry the nappies, as it consumes electricity.

The second reason why I chose to use cloth nappies lies in the cost of nappies: disposable nappies cost between 200 and 500 euros per child and per year. That is to say between 400 and 1000 euros for a chil using nappies during two years. Let's say there are from 2 to 3 children in a family and the total cost is between 1000 to 3000 euros. The cloth nappies I bought cost me approximately 580 euros, including 15 nappies of two different sizes, rice paper, waterproof panties, etc... and what's best, I'll be able to use them with all my children. Furthermore, in some countries, you can get financial help from the town recycling station for using cloth nappies. I got 75 euros from mine. Total cost: around 500 euros. Now that's a good investment.

Finally, I read in many articles that children who use cloth nappies quit using nappies earlier than the others: as a matter of fact, modern disposable nappies try as hard as they can to make the child feel "dry", whereas cloth nappies make your child feel wet. And since that wet feeling is not comfortable, the child tends to use the potty earlier in order to get rid of that feeling. That's a great plus, if you ask me.

So, are you convinced yet?

via small dead animals

Sometimes it's unclear where the media-hype and the real dangers collide.

Serious dangers are emerging for Australia (and other parts of the world) that are well beyond what people would expect. No one was certainly planning on the Murray-Darling drying up (well no one who had any actual power to do anything about it).

A news report from earlier this year warned that arid conditions could trigger fungal outbreaks amongst food products that could lead to serious food poisoning hazards. CQU actually made the news by warning of "mass hallucinations, manic depression, gangrene, abortions, reduced fertility and painful, convulsive death".

You might think that standard helath screening should allow alerts if any food source gets contaminated, but these symptons aren't caused by a single heavy dose, but several small doses over an extended time period. It all adds up if you consider the amount of foodstuff you eat on a regular basis made from cereal crops (unless you're allergic to gluten or something).

Small dead animals appears to be a right-wing climate change skeptic, and the comments certainly are full of grand ridicule of environmental health as a profession and the idea of killer cornflakes.

However I can't help but consider the recent food poison scares emerging from China (melamine in milk) and Japan (pesticides and mycotoxins in rice/sake). Not necessarily directly caused by global warming - but definitely shows that food poisoning is a serious risk. And also consider, more fungal outbreaks will mean more reliance on (over)using chemical fungicides on crops.

Welcome to today’s 1:5:10:365 Tip for becoming a better steward for our home and planet environment.

1:5:10:262 EcoTip: Before reconstruction after flooding can begin - it is critical that the indoor environment be clean and dry. If its not clean there can be organic material that results in odor problems or bacteria. If its not dry mold can develop and materials may degrade. You can't tell if many types of construction materials are dry by touch - it is important to confirm they are dry using a moisture meter.

***********************************

Additional Information:

Suggested Review: :256, :257, :258, :259, :260, :261,

This is the seventh in a series of EcoTips about protecting oneself when remodeling and working around buildings when participating in disaster recovery such as occurred with hurricane Katrina and is going on now with Ike. This information is timely since 2008 is the most active hurricane season since 2005 and many buildings are being damaged.

The following is from my book Extreme Weather Hits Home. I am discussing the reconstruction process in Key West Florida after hurricane Wilma in 2005:

Storm surge-damaged gypsum board and insulation can’t be saved, so in most of the buildings I looked at they had been removed shortly after the water damage occurred to allow air drying of the remaining wood framing or concrete block that is commonly used for construction on the island. In those buildings where it had not been removed, the gypsum board was falling apart, full of mold growth, and smelling horribly from the bacteria and dead sea life that hadn’t yet been removed and disinfected.

In the cases where the residents quickly removed and discarded the water-damaged gypsum wallboard, they simply left the wet wood framing in the homes exposed to allow natural air circulation for drying. What I found surprising was that even after three months of air drying the wood framing materials and furring strips had a wood moisture content greater than 30 percent. It became apparent that mechanical drying using dehumidifiers and air circulation would be necessary to get these buildings dry enough for reconstruction. Experience has shown that if the wood surface is exposed to air circulation it is rare for mold to grow even if the center of the wood still has elevated levels of moisture. Fortunately, leaving the walls open and not rushing reconstruction avoids the problem of mold growing.

One of the big problems I observed while in Key West were homes where the gypsum wallboard and insulation had been removed and replaced with new materials while the wood still had these elevated levels of moisture. These homes began to grow mold on the paper of the brand-new gypsum wallboard materials.

It is a brief overview of how to do auto body work, yourself. It takes a lot of time, patience, and will power to get this done. Not everyone was made to do this on their own, so if like me you slightly cringe to the thought of having to fix your car up yourself do not worry. There is hope for us on repairfinders.com!

If one were to consider in doing-it-yourself auto body repair, you should have some basic interest in working with metal sheets. To do this kind of metal working the basic tools needed to repair dents and small rust holes are:

1. Ball peen Hammer

2. Rubber Mallet

3. Metal dolly

4. Tinsmith's Spoons

5. Wire brush, steel or bronze

Working on dents does not necessarily mean hammering the body part to its original shape. All that is needed is to work back the dent to about at least 1/8 of an inch to its original shape. Making it shape to almost original will be completed by applying body filler and putty. In the process of gently hammering back the dent, paint will either chip-off or crack. It will be necessary to do the following:

1. Sandpaper away the paint and surrounding areas up to about 2 inches away from the exposed metal. Try to "feather-off" the paint meeting the bare metal to allow proper adherence of the body filler to be applied. Use 120 grit sand paper for this. Wet sanding is advisable then wipe thoroughly dry.

2. Dab the exposed metal with rubbing alcohol or anti-rust compound. Make sure to avoid applying it on the painted area.

3. If rust is evident, use steel brush or bronze brush to remove, if possible, all traces of rust.

4. It is at your option to thinly hand paint with primer the bare metal if it is not larger than the size of your palm.

5. Let the area dry completely before applying body filler. If you are a beginner, most body fillers come in two parts. The hardener, usually in a small plastic tube, is the catalyst to harden the compound. Use it sparingly because using too much will cause the filler to harden real fast in a couple of minutes. Mix the compound well and apply with gentle pressure in one direction to fill the depression on the body. Apply the filler close to the nearest undamaged paint.

6. After the body filler has hardened and dried wet sand gently with 320 grit sand paper to follow the contour of the body. Make sure that the body filler feathers where it meets with the original paint. Feathering means there is no ridge felt when you run your fingertips on where the ends meet. It takes time to be accurately sensitive to feel this difference to the touch. Running over the ends several times with your closed palm and fingertips will give you the "feel".

7. To complete the filling, apply very thinly, glazing putting over the body filler to cover slight imperfections and pores. Again wet sand with 600 grit sand paper the entire area that you worked on. Overlap slightly sanding on the original paint. Let dry completely.

8. Apply primer surfacer spray (available in aerosol cans) with a color closest to your original paint. After the primer has completely dried, wet sand again with used 600 grit sand paper or new 800 grit sand paper. Wipe and let dry completely.

9. Apply paint color of your car from four to six coats letting each coat dry completely before applying the next coat. If the color code of your paint is available, normally you can get them too in aerosol cans.

10. After the final coat has completely dried, wet sand the finish very lightly with 1000 grit sand paper.

11. To bring out the sheen and luster of the paint job and blend it to the original, rub the entire work with fine rubbing compound with consistent light pressure strokes. Wipe off the repaired area and buff with circular motion.

Tips on Spray Painting:

NOTE: Know if your original paint is enamel, lacquer or acrylic. NEVER apply acrylic over enamel or lacquer finish. Enamel or lacquer over acrylic is just fine.

Mask off areas not to be painted.

Hold the spray about eight to ten inches away from the area.

Spraying motion should be back and forth overlapping each stroke by about 1/3 of its width.

Spray stroke speed should be close to 1 foot per second but not faster.

Water Everywhere but not a Drop to Drink?

I guess you have been hearing all about the BPA's (bisphenols) in plastic bottles, including baby bottles. I am sure that many of you have already gone out and bought your eco-friendly / health-friendly stainless steel water bottles. I just ordered mine today, actually.

We already know that everything around us is poisoned. So what are we to choose? The tap water? They say it has tons of chlorine and fluoride not to mention prescription drug residues and who knows what else... Then you think: "I will drink bottled water" ... Then you find that the bisphenols have been shown in a JAMA report to cause an increase in diabetes and heart-disease as well as disruption of hormones. We have known for some time the link between aluminum and Alzheimer's Disease. What to do? Dehydrate?

And, of course many of our foods have become "franken-foods" with all of the bio-engineering and such. Sure, we try to get the organic stuff, but let's be honest we do not always buy strictly organic, especially in this economic climate, if you are a "regular" person.

It boils down to this. We are under the curse of sin. And nothing is clean here in our earthly existence. So, as I see it our only legit option is; we must pray and seek the only pure thing or person, actually, in the universe- who has the only remedy to this sin-sick world. That is, we must go to Jesus. He has ultimate power and I do take comfort from the bible verse that states "...and if they drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them..." Mark 16:18

Again the bible tells us that ultimately it is not what we put into our mouths that makes us unclean, but it is that which proceeds out of our mouths, because our words show what is contained in our hearts.

I pray for clean water and I pray for clean hearts for us all. In case you didn't notice we are living in perilous times. It is time to LOOK UP FOR OUR REDEMPTION IS DRAWING NEAR. Luke 21:28

Please, don't miss it! Please repent of you sins. Ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior today. If you do not you will have to go without water for all eternity.
