After watching the Hana Yori Dango drama (season 1) I’ve been getting into watching dramas lat

After watching the Hana Yori Dango drama (season 1) I've been getting into watching dramas lately. Now I'm currently watching Zettai Kareshi (Absolute Boyfriend). While I enjoyed the manga (somewhat) the drama sure is fun as well. ^^ It's as if the drama just borrowed certain elements from the manga though, since basically the entire plot was overhauled. Either way, it's still enjoyable. I think Hayami Mokomichi (who plays Night Tenjo) is HOT. I mean... Soshi (Mizushima Hiro) isn't that bad either... but Mokomichi is just pure <3333 !!! I think it's his nice tan... or maybe it's because he's half Filipino? Haha! Who knows. I wonder if he speaks tagalog. That'd be awesome if he did... He speaks Japanese though (duh) so that's a plus!

What kind of freaks me out though is this:

His chest is completely blank. D: I mean he has a nice body but... aren't guys supposed to have er ///// what are they called? Are they also called "nipples" on a guy? XD;; Oh that was embarassing to say. NO! I'm not trying to be a pervert. >< I just noticed it when I took a good look at the picture. T__T; Be quiet you...

I know it's just the image though because when he goes shirtless in some of the episodes, he has them. :3 [[ I'm currently on episode 6! ]]

Amazingly, some people still use OS X 10.3, and a couple are whining because of last Thursday's announcement. I don't know why they expect Panther support when pretty much every piece of software for OS X released in the last couple years or so requires 10.4, if not 10.5. Not to mention the fact that Panther users make up a quarter of a percent of logins.
At least Windows 2000 is still supported ;)

Will Blooms Vater Edward liegt im Sterben. Edward jedoch bleibt dabei - all seine fantastischen Geschichten seien genau so geschehen.

So I figured I’d watch the Dark Knight the first showing Saturday Morning as opposed to seein

So I figured I'd watch the Dark Knight the first showing Saturday Morning as opposed to seeing it on Friday night packed in like a bunch of canned sardines. Also I live near the ghetto and most people in this area don't seem to venture out before noon so I figured the 9am showing would be the quietest. At any rate, I saw the Dark Knight.

Man. What an intense flick! Very gritty and heavy. I'd say, it was a really good crime drama film that the protagonist happened to be the Caped Crusader himself, Batman. I enjoyed it and it really gave off the vibe of a Batman Graphic Novel from the 1980's. Very serious, not fun and grim.

NOTE TO OBNOXIOUS PEOPLE THAT THINK THAT FORCING YOUR ADD CHILDREN ON EVERYONE ELSE AT THE MOVIES IS AN ACCEPTABLE SUBSTITUTE FOR A GOOD BABYSITTER: The Dark Knight is no Iron Man. It's a very long (almost 3 hours) movie. There is nothing Summer Blockbuster a la Transformers for your child's 30 second attention span to grab hold to. Your kids will become bored because this isn't an action movie, it's a crime drama. Lots of talking heads. Do you think taking your kid to see The Godfather or Copland would be fun for your child? If your kids don't get bored, there are some pretty ugly things that happen that may disturb them, so think twice about bringing them. In other words, we know all you don't give a rat's ass about anyone else in the theater, but you may want to consider your children because I don't think they'll enjoy being in a movie theater for that long for something boring and or potentially scary.

Enough of my rant! The movie is good. Very good. There are no Indiana Jones action sequences that will get you OOHING or AHHHING that you might expect from a super hero movie. So I'd divorce yourself from any notions about watching another Spider-Man or X-Men film. There are some really cool gadgets Batman employs and we even get to see Batman with the no iris white eyes like the comic book for a bit which to a geek like me was cool.

As for the other characters, of course everyone is talking about the late Heath Ledger's take on The Clown Prince of Crime, the Joker. Certainly, Ledger was amusing for sure, but I think the character with the most depth in the entire film would be that of Aaron Eckhart's portrayal of District Attorney Harvey Dent. Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine do well with their roles as well. Christian Bale, by far is the best actor to suit up for The Batman. I'd say the only person I didn't like was Maggie Gyllenhaal replacing Katie Holmes as Rachel Dawes. It might just be a personal preference thing, because I have never understood what all the hullabaloo about Maggie Gyllenhaal was about. I don't find her acting terrible, but it doesn't stand out to me. Also I don't find her very attractive either. Sorry, but that's just the way I feel about her. Actually I'm not sorry. I stand by my opinion. P.S. I didn't think Katie Holmes was well cast for the original role in the first film either.

Ultimately, I think the film is good as a drama film. I think there may be two camps that form about whether they like this movie or not; Those that enjoy the film because it asks us to reexamine what we define as a super hero film and the people that want a Six Flags amusement park ride when they watch a super hero flick or any film for that matter. And to the latter I say, maybe you should have stayed home with your kids.

MY OPINION: GO SEE THIS FILM IMMEDIATELY (In IMAX if at all possible!)

*The Dark Knight was filmed in IMAX so in doing so you will be watching it as it was intended to be seen larger than life with incredible resolution.

Only streamed through Hulu at Dr. Horrible through July 20th. Also available for download at iTunes through July 29th. A DVD with extras is highly anticipated at some point after that.

This was an experiment devised by Whedon, two of his brothers, a writer friend of theirs, and countless others who contributed, during the fairly recent WGA strike. The artists on this project basically worked for free, with Joss Whedon and a few others ponying up the funds.

Dr. Horrible is the tale of a mad scientist (Neil Patrick Harris), would-be villain who wants with his entire being to be part of the Evil League of Evil, run by an Uber-Villain Overlord named Bad Horse. Why? He's in love with a girl named Penny, who he's afraid to talk to but wants to rule the world with. She in turn falls for a big lug with half a brain called Captain Hammer. Hammer and Dr. H have a hate-hate relationship, mostly because Hammer keeps giving him beatings and messing up his plans for world domination.

Did I mention it's a musical? The whole thing is brilliantly devised, archetypes of villains and heroes turned on their head, a sweet young thing who is their innocent young catalyst for change, and a tuneful score which harks to musical theatre influences ... some Bernstein, some Schwartz, with emphasis on Sondheim. Whedon and his co-writers obviously love language and know how to use it to warp the woof of an oft-told tale; good vs. evil. But just who is good and who is evil? And for whom will you weep when the story is through?

Write and tell me. I'd like to know what you thought.

On the surface, looking at photos, reading synopses here and there, you might be fooled that this is just a trifle, a silly confection. Those unfamiliar with Whedon's previous artistic outings are in for a surprise. The ending is being hotly debated even as I write this. There's a lot for everyone here; musical enthusiasts to comic-book fans, to dramaturgs.

Watch how well the tone shifts from Act to Act, with the music supporting all the action. Act I is the honeymoon, Act II the divorce, and Act II "the great black pit" in more ways than one.

Neil Patrick Harris is a star - if that wasn't already clear. His singing and acting runs the gamut from sweetly hopeful, to sarcastic, to morose, to black outrage and despair. If Act III doesn't prove that you can become hollowed out through your own mistaken desires, nothing will.

Nathan Fillion plays the "Hero," Dr. Hammer. I don't want to give too much away if you haven't seen it yet, but let's just say his performance is the perfect capital P for pompous. I'm not surprised he delivers on the singing - a very talented man who is not afraid to spoof his own image as someone who is adored, but in a totally obnoxious way. He's equal parts lecherous Judge Turpin from Sweeney Todd and Judd Frye from Oklahoma. Not easy to pull off.

Felicia Day (who has her own show The Guild on the Internet Highway) plays Penny, the innocent ingenue who tries to stay positive in a wicked, bad world. Tries to make a difference despite indifference. Day is competent, sweet and smart in a role that doesn't give her much to do. It felt as though she really had to pull back her own personality to make it fit within the confines of a role that doesn't change or grow. But she is there for a definite purpose.

How we could be taken on this journey in such a short series. I'm a believer that all things are possible. Especially when there's Whedons involved.

Take the Journey ... now.

“Why So Serious?”

"Why So Serious?"

For anyone living in a box lately, The Dark Knight takes place about a year after Batman Begins. This time around, Batman [Christian Bale] teams up with Lieutenant Gordon [Gary Oldman] and Gotham's new District Attorney, Harvey Dent [Aaron Eckhart] - the guy many people believe - including Bruce Wayne - to be Gotham's white knight in his fearless attack on crime, rounding up mob bosses and cleaning up the streets. Things are going smoothly until a psychotic bank robber, soon known to a terrified Gotham as 'The Joker' [Heath Ledger] gets the upper hand and unleashes a new kind of chaos and terrorism on the city. The question is - why? According to Dent, "you either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain."

Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine reprise their roles as Lucius and Alfred. This time around, Maggie Gyllenhaal replaces Katie Holmes as Rachael Dawes. I thought she did a good job. That character is a tad on the annoying side for me, no matter who's playing her. But Maggie was very convincing and fit into the mix just fine. Both Eckhart and Ledger did stellar jobs, and Christian Bale ... well... he's perfect in this role.

To say The Dark Knight is 'good' is an understatement. This movie was AMAZING. I already can't wait to see it again! There was so much more to it than I expected. I loved Batman Begins so much that I was actually worried this one wouldn't live up to expectations because the last one set the bar so high. I can honestly say they cleared the bar and kept going. I don't want to give anything away so I'm going to wrap this up. Just know that the story is brilliant, the acting was top notch and the effects - visual and stunts - were awesome. There was so much more to this story - this was a comic book movie that hit so many social and moral issues, making us think, while simultaneously taking us for a wild ride and even made us laugh here and there. This movie is long at 2 1/2 hours, but the pacing was dead on. I dare say this is the perfect summer blockbuster and I'm going to do it...

5 out of 5.

A first here at Movie[Crack]House. Also, it's worth mentioning that Christopher Nolan was at the helm again, the same guy who directed The Prestige and Memento. His resume isn't that long yet, but it's pretty impressive. I'm looking forward to many years of amazing movies from him. =) For those that enjoy a good movie score, my hubby informed me that The Dark Knight's soundtrack is pretty similar to the Batman Begins soundtrack - except no more weird latin bat names for song titles, so you can actually figure out which scene they go to. Beware of the 'special edition' soundtrack - it doesn't have any additional songs to the regular one - it just has 'collectible' cards - so if you're only interested in the music, save the $5 bucks and skip the special edition.

And finally... I have to mention Batman's 'other' car - the gorgeous Lamborghini Murcielago LP640. Read more about it here: Jalopnik.com

Add'l Info: Released: Jul 18, 2008 • Runtime 152 minutes • Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and some menace • Movie Photo by Steven Vaughn via allmoviephoto.com • Car photo by Edo Competition via jalopnik.com

Well does a relationship need that to keep it alive? After the honeymoon period is done and the paasion wanes how do you keep the spark alive? So drama real or not help or hinder the relationship your in?

Does the look he gives you mean oh shit he is going to break up with you drama in your head?

If she does not call do you sit there and think what did l do to upset her or piss her off?Or is the drama your making is yourself yet again?

Maybe when things are too smooth to calm it's time to pick a fight add some drama so you can bitch to your friends about what a ass he or what a bitch she is.

I am not sure a relationship filled with drama on and off is really a good thing.Emotions run high, words are taken out of context.

Now make up sex after a fight can be thought of as drama when your rolling around the bed in hot passioned filled l am sorry let's not fight again.

Or maybe we do need a little drama from time to keep the blood flowing and the passion going.

I am not sure their is a happy middle ground on this.

I do know the older l get the thought of bullshit drives me crazy.Who needs that?

Think the only drama l need is on the baseball field watching you play.Or in a good movie..Hint Hint.

Hilary Swank won her first Oscar for her incredible portrayal of Brandon Teena, a transgender teen who, although born female, lived as a boy in a small Nebraska community. The story is based on the actual heart-shredding events that shattered Teena's life.

A point of trivia - Swank earned a pittance of $3,000 for her work on this film, and her income that year was too low for her to qualify for actors' health benefits.

Boys Don't Cry was written and directed by Kimberly Peirce. Actor Chloë Sevigny received an Oscar Nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her portrayal of Lana, Brandon's girlfriend, and the film was nominated and/or won 40 other major international awards in 2000.

NETFLIX SYNOPSIS: Cyrano de Bergerac (Gerard Depardieu) pines for his cousin Roxanne, but won't reveal his affections for fear that she'll find his ugly features off-putting. So, Cyrano instructs the studly but stupid Christian how to woo her. Roxanne is entranced by Christian's beautiful poetry and letters -- all ghosted by Cyrano. But Christian dies in battle before he can tell Roxanne the truth. Depardieu won the Best Actor award at Cannes for his performance.

REVIEW: Snipping a couple inches off the tip of the nose in a nod to realism (I suppose), Depardieu and company have a run at this noble French tale. I can't tell if it was my own expectations, the questionable translation in the subtitles (by Anthony Burgess, believe it or not!), or some other factor, but the movie failed to engage me during the first 30 minutes or so. Once Christian appeared, the gears began to mesh and the rest of the movie was greatly improved, including an ending that probably surpasses the otherwise-better 1950 version.

I am wondering if anyone has read the new book;

The Nightmare on 6th Street: A Memoir of Politics, Corruption and Murder.

If you have read it, you understand the reason why I am mentioning it here.

If you have not read it, then you need to fasten your seat belt and prepare for the journey, it will take you on. The more I seem to learn, the less I realize I know.

The narrator is obviously a person with an incredible amount of courage to endure what he had to go through. Wow, I hope I never have to face anything that comes close to that Nightmare in my lifetime.

The Book is loaded with characters we all have had to deal with and maybe run from, in some way shape or form. I was pulled into the story with ease. The drama was heartrenching and the personalities were truly psychotic.

The Narrator tells a powerful first hand account of what may become one of the most controversal Books of the season, considering this is an election year.

Let me first say that I am a harsh film critic, if it's crap I'll tell you. Secondly if you don't like science fiction, action, crime, drama , or even superhero movies (like myself) you still need to see this film if for nothing else but to see Heath Ledger's final superb performance. He is magnificent, and you can tell this is the roll that kept him from sleeping which lead to his accidental overdose and tragic death. If you do love anything from the list above this is of course a must see film. With a movie like this no one really has a good excuse not to see it. If one were to look at this as strictly as a "popcorn" film, you won't be disappointed. However if you were to look at this film from a technical and/ or artistic point of view, you will be in for a wonderful surprise. I thought at first this was going to be a run of the mill summer blockbuster complete with all the hype, but then I remembered how good Batman Begins was especially compared to Batman and Robin and how horrible that thing was. As you watch, the characters expand, more is known about them, their history. But the real magic begins as the story unfolds, this isn't a run of the mill "cookie cutter" superhero movie. One can tell there was thought put into every scene and not one second of your time was wasted with anything non- vital to the story in one way or another. The only thing that really upset me was the fact that Heath Ledger was no longer with us. His role as "The Joker" was excellent. I really liked Jack Nicholson's rendition of the Joker in the 1989 Batman, Ledger's performance however, brings a better and polar opposite view of The Joker to the table. Of course a few of you that read this are going to disagree, and a lot of people are still going to like the Michael Keaton days of Batman better, but as a new era and a new beginning to the franchise, you simply can't beat The Dark Knight. It really is better than Batman Begins and that is a tough act to beat.

Waving the white flag

This “making peace,” mind you, is not an easy process. It’s a painful process—so painful, in fact, that most persons will do just about anything to avoid it. And that’s why, in order to be truly healed, you have to face your inner vulnerability without hiding behind blaming others. This painful process, if you stick with it courageously and faithfully, leads to the form of healing you can't get from a bottle, a pill, or anyone else.

What say you?

You didn't come here to prove your worth or to find a problem and fix it. You came to express your talents and abilities, to realize your dreams. How you interpret things plays a large part in shaping your behavior and how others treat you. Focusing on the negative dulls your energy and ability to cope. No matter how bad a situation seems, find something in it to appreciate. Ask yourself, what good could come from this? What can I learn here? The answers you get show you what to do next.

Grow up!

Life isn't about success or failure. Although both teach valuable lessons, fulfilling your potential is the essential goal. Adversity can develop strength. If a dream sours, let it go without judgment or remorse. Assume it's no longer relevant, and look for new options. Even a losing battle can be a stepping-stone to a better situation. Accepting change brings peace of mind.

Relationships are NOT perfect, WAKE UP!

Relationships are like jigsaw puzzles. All the pieces fit together to create the whole. You are not responsible for anyone else, nor are they for you. There's no guilt, no blame, no shame. Allow things to be as they are. Accept each moment as if you'd chosen it. If someone hurts you, look for what you can learn from it. Holding a grudge drains your energy. Forgiveness doesn't mean it was okay with you; it means releasing the person's power to upset you. You may never forget, but letting go of resentment is more productive. This goes double for forgiving yourself.

Move on

Only when you're at peace with yourself can you make a real contribution to anyone. Live your own truth, be honorable, and intend the best for everyone, including yourself.

I recently had the pleasure to attend All's Well that Ends Well with Gerry, a good friend of mine. Gerry treated me to a wonderful night in Stratford (Ontario) which included some good conversation.

During the course of our talk, I shared with him my attempt at mediumship and the classes that I've been attending. He confessed that although he didn't believe himself to be psychic, he had one rather strong, uncanny experience. I countered by suggesting that the very fact that he acts (and this fella is a wonderful actor) would suggest that he is in fact, quite intuitive.

The way I see it, acting requires a keen sense of observation, of being aware of all around you, noticing the most minute of details...perhaps termed a sort of hyperawareness. And to me, that is all a part of intuition...picking up on vibrations, feelings, your environment...sensing what isn't said...subtext, so-to-speak, which is all a part of performing and preparing to perform.

Text analysis is the doorway to a character's motives. Equally important is the dynamics which take place between actors when performing. Every performance is different - sometimes very obviously and others, rather minute. An actor has to pick up on these things and respond accordingly as would his character.

I would argue that acting is all about intuition...finding that character within and developing through your understanding of human nature to bring it about on stage. Perhaps acting is a form of mediumship in itself, channelling the character from within your higher self...letting that spirit or personality come through.

Any way you look at it, it's all magical.
