Well, I was planning on entering the 3rd grade, but ended up with 2nd grade, because I am lame. This isn't all that bad, but I will have to rework my French, as the subject is final during the 2nd year. Je ne parle pas francais.

That left aside, I am really looking forward to entering this school. The last time I actually started in a class without knowing anyone in it from earlier times, was in Oslo; age 7. Will be a different experience, hopefully.

Also, I just want to say, it's not often I am down. But when I am there is one song which can always cheer me up. Ever heard about Arcade Fire? They're a pretty sweet indie group from Canada, or something... Anyways, I recall seeing them at Roskilde (07'?). Before their performance I've heard nothing about the group or their music. But anyways, I remember comming wet, (yes, it was pouring) and drunk to their gig. They were about to fire up "No Cars Go", and somehow I was able to wander of from my friends, (see, drunk) but didn't care much, as this was a killer song.

Aaaaaaand I stumbled through a delicious cake recently. It's a flash based game called "Desktop Tower Defense". http://www.handdrawngames.com/DesktopTD/game.asp?addict

Summary
WiiWare has been up for about 2 weeks now. Every monday WiiWare gets an update of one or two

Summary

WiiWare has been up for about 2 weeks now. Every monday WiiWare gets an update of one or two games to its collection. One of the debuted title of this dying-waiting service was the famous free flash game "Defend Your Castle." I bet you have been wondering, is it worth it to spend 5 dollars on a game that i can play for free? Well, there is an open answer for that question. Defend You Castle Wii still has the same addictive gameplay that its counterpart has. However, this game offers much more than the original. Starting with new enemies and elements of protecting your castle. It also has new animations and better graphics with a new style. One of the only if not the only downside is that you don't get all the blood spills in the Wii version. Actually you dont see any blood at all. But even without blood you are going to even laugh while playing this game. Hint: Let a lot of enemies gather around your door, and just put a suicidal bomber in there and kill them all. Trust me is hilarious the first couple of times you do it.

What's New?

In addition, the game has multiplayer for up to 4 players. So the player who kills the most enemies becomes the king of the castle. Therefore, he will be making all the decisions, and controls the castle until someone else comes and reclaims it. So is basically like a co-op competitive game. You all play for the same purpose against the same people, but you still compete between each other.

Gameplay

I know you have probably wonder how the Wiimote IR compares to the mouse. Well, let me tell you that at least for me, the Wiimote IR feels a lot better and more natural than the mouse, and I think is easier to control. So basically you point to one of your enemies and press A or B to hold them. After you are holding one of them, just throw him somewhere up in the air. To use the suicidal bomber just press A or B in the little circle bomb they have and it will explode. The gameplay is easy, but at the same time addictive. In conclusion, If you are looking for the cheapest most valuable game in WiiWare right now, you are thinking of Defend your Castle. If you want to have fun with an easy and addictive game to control, you are thinking Defend you Castle. If you have dream of picking people up and throw them in the air, or put a bomb where there is 50 enemies and see they faces explode all around you, you are thinking Defend your Castle. For all that is rest, save your Wii points :).

I decided not to bother coming up with another title. That will do fine.
Just a quick note before I

I decided not to bother coming up with another title. That will do fine.

Just a quick note before I begin my post today: This is not going to become a habit. My goal in the morning of getting up early every day is not to provide me with more opportunities to blab on this "thing," but to write short stories, fiction novels, or nonfiction essays that push my skills as a writer and provide me with adequate creative venues. I do not intend to blast my subscribers with nonsense thoughts and minor life events on a daily basis. Eventually, these kinds of posts will be once, twice, maybe three times a week, and the rest of my mornings will be spent crafting stories you will get to read when they are finished.

But, for today I just wanted to tell you about my day yesterday. Thanks for reading.

I'm a little bit tired this morning. Of course, it's all my fault this time. I was going to defrag my laptop after clearing some space off the hard drive (several gigabytes worth) so I wanted to back some stuff up online before going to bed and beginning the defrag. OK, most of what I was uploading was already mostly backed up online, but not full resolution. You see, I have some really good photos that were the result of good luck and timing that I wanted to share so I put them on my DeviantART account last night. Not all of them, mind you, but it's a start. I think I'll upload a few at a time for the next few weeks until all the good ones are up at DeviantART. For now, you can view my web albums in two locations.

The first is my Google web album, the second is my Kodak web album. Frankly, I'm not a big fan of the Kodak service and I think I'm going to start using the Google/Picasa service more often. I even prefer the DeviantART site more than the Kodak one, but I feel bad uploading anything to DeviantART that isn't art.

I wish I could share more than just this one photo with you here. OK, I could share more than just this one photo with you here, but adding more photos would be a lot of work and I'm too tired to do it right now. Be grateful for the one photo I managed to get up here.

Doesn't she look like she's just loving that cereal? For more photos of her enjoying the rice cereal, check out the the Picasa/Google web album. You can download a full resolution copy of this photo from this DeviantART page.

Yesterday was a pretty good day. We took it easy. In the morning, after breakfast, we played some of that great game, Defend Your Castle, then we went to the store and prepared for a picnic in the park, which could have gone better. Overall, it went well. Sometimes, though, I forget that my legs get super white compared to my normally tanned skin because I wear pants a lot. Yesterday, at the park, I wore shorts. My shins are in a lot of pain right now.

After the park we came home, rested, got some work done, and then fed the baby some rice cereal for the first time, which went extremely well (as you can see). After that, the five-year-old decided he was done being nice and following rules for the day, so we had an early dinner and put him out of his misery with an early bedtime. Then we watched a two hour movie in just under five hours (not bad with the baby). You know the rest of the story - I stayed up too late updating my DeviantART account with some good photos.

Well, I'm happy to say that I can finally return a movie to a friend. We have borrowed movies from her before, and the last time was a disaster. We returned the movie in good condition, so it could have gone worse, but we held on to it for far too long (many months). This time we managed to watch it in something like three weeks, which is great.

The movie wasn't my style. It was a drama, which is already a huge deduction in points on my part, and it didn't really get me pulled in that well. I rate dramas and other movies that don't appeal to me on their ability to pull me into the story (the plot and other story elements have to be crafted really well) and evoke an emotional reaction from me. This one did evoke that emotional reaction from me, but I wouldn't have been devastated if I had walked away from it halfway through, meaning the story could have grabbed me better. This is not, by any means, actual criticism for the film, because this is simply a question of taste. The friend who loaned us the movie, for example, just loves this movie. The story must have really pulled her in, it must have connected with her deep down, and it probably evoked a stronger emotional reaction from her because of it.

Overall I'd say it was well made and fun, but not for me. I enjoyed watching it, I'm glad I watched, and I'm glad I don't own it.

Oops, I suppose you'd like to know what movie we watched last night now? Ha. Silly me. We watched "The Holiday."

Well, as much as I'd like to extend my writing time this morning beyond the hour I usually write, I think I'm going to lay back down and close my eyes in the hopes of falling back asleep and waking up feeling like I slept a full eight hours in stead of less than four. Or, I might finish writing, or not, and find that the day is starting whether I like it or not, and have to skip on the rest until we get home from church. Either way, my bed and I will probably be seeing each other before the actual end of the day.

If I don't make it back to bed, I feel that I might cry. I know, my fault. Tonight, nap or no nap, I'm going to bed at ten. That's final.

My Life as a King, LostWinds, Defend Your Castle, Pop, V.I.P. Casino: Blackjack y TV Show King.

Today WiiWare games were released on the Wii's Shop Channel for the first time. The opening lineup is strong, and it seems that Nintendo wants to release new titles on a regular basis. The launch games are:

LostWinds

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life As a King

Defend Your Castle

Pop

TV Show King

V.I.P. Casino: Blackjack

IGN.com is reviewing all of them quickly, most earning a score around 6 or 7, but so far with LostWinds in the lead with an 8.2 out of 10. Now I kind of wish I saved those 500 points I had on Sunday for Defend Your Castle (the only 500 point game of the bunch), but Super Mario Bros. 3 probably is a much better game...

By the way, Final Fantasy up there has downloadable content features... nice. Nintendo's finally starting to understand.

And as a final note, the Nintendo Channel was also given an update with new videos (mostly of the WiiWare titles) and DS demos. While it's a bit disappointing to see Ninja Gaiden gone from the lineup, new demos like Apollo Justice and Iron Man have caught my eye. If the Nintendo Channel keeps getting awesome updates like this every week, I'll be one happy gamer.

Finally, after months of waiting, WiiWare is here! Exclusive Wii content is just a click away folks as a new section has been added to your Shop Channel. With six games available at launch and dozens of others eagerly awaiting their time in the spotlight, Nintendo's new downloadable content feature is off to a great start. There were a few games, however, that many assumed would be launch titles. Gyrostar, World of Goo, Toki Tori, and Dr. Mario, to name a few. It's ok though - with the lineup as it is, we can wait.

Defend Your Castle- XGen Studios - 1 to 4 Players - 500 Points

Nintendo announced the North American launch of its WiiWare downloadable-game service for the Wii mo

Nintendo announced the North American launch of its WiiWare downloadable-game service for the Wii months ago, but has played coy about specific details on games and prices. Today the service goes live, and Nintendo finally detailed a slate of six launch games that range in price from 500 Wii points ($5) to 1,500 Wii points ($15). Nintendo has said that there are more than 100 WiiWare games in the works, and as with Virtual Console additions, new games will be added to the service on Mondays. Gamers can find video clips of the games on the Nintendo Channel, and download the actual games in the WiiWare section of the system's Wii Shop Channel. The initial wave of games is headlined by Square Enix's Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King, a management-sim twist on the seminal role-playing game franchise. Unlike previous multiplayer-focused installments in the Crystal Chronicles spin-off series, the WiiWare entry is a single-player game. My Life as a King sells for 1,500 Wii points ($15). Downloadable content including new buildings, dungeons, and costumes is also available for Square's WiiWare debut, ranging in price from 100 to 800 Wii points ($1-$8). That's the high end of the WiiWare price spectrum so far, with XGen Studios' Defend Your Castle (500 Wii points, or $5) currently residing at the low end. A remake of a free browser-based game, Defend Your Castle has players using the Wii Remote to exterminate onrushing enemies by grabbing them and tossing them to great heights. The game also includes four-player cooperative gameplay. Defend Your Castle isn't the only WiiWare game to support up to four players. Nnooo's Pop lets up to four gamers do just that, popping a field full of bubbles to earn points and string together combos. Pop sells for 700 Wii points ($7). Two more four-player games include V.I.P. Casino: Blackjack, High Voltage Software's Vegas-themed card game (700 Wii points, or $7), and TV Show King, a Gameloft-developed quiz game featuring more than 3,000 questions across six categories (1,000 Wii points, or $10). Finally, Frontier Development is offering LostWinds, a side-scrolling platform game that uses the Wii Remote's pointing abilities to control the direction of the wind, helping boost players over chasms or solve puzzles. Designed for one or two players, LostWinds sells for 1,000 Wii points ($10). With the exception of the T-for-Teen-rated V.I.P. Casino: Blackjack, all of the WiiWare launch games are rated E for Everyone.

Nintendo launched their much anticipated WiiWare store today. If you've been living under a rock this past year, WiiWare is a dedicated store where third-party developers can sell their games developed specifically for the Wii console. As opposed to virtual console, which is just a marketplace for emulated games made for other systems.

Nintendo launched the new store today with 6 titles. The info is below:

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (Square Enix, 1500 Wii Points)

LostWinds (Frontier Developments, 1000 Wii Points)

Defend your Castle (XGen Studios, 500 Wii Points)

Pop (Nnooo, 1-4 players, 700 Wii Points)

V.I.P. Casino: Blackjack (High Voltage Software, Inc., 700 Wii Points)

TV Show King (Gameloft, 1000 Wii Points)

Hopefully, Nintendo's WiiWare channel will mature like PSN and XBLA. Fanboys are really looking forward to all the original titles that can be pushed through this channel. But for now we can settle for My Life as King and LostWinds.

Starting today, gamers will be able to download original new game titles from their Wiis via Nintendo's new WiiWare service. Unlike the Virtual Console, which allows players to download retro game titles, WiiWare gives developers a means to explore new ideas with relatively low risk and pass on those ideas in the form of games which, not surprisingly, are relatively inexpensive when compared to games purchased at retail stores (game prices for the WiiWare launch titles range from $5 to $15). The launch titles are:

-Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King (1,500 Wii Points)

-LostWinds (1,000 Wii Points)

-Defend your Castle (500 Wii Points)

-Pop (700 Wii Points)

-V.I.P. Casino: Blackjack (700 Wii Points)

-TV Show King (1,000 Wii Points)

Game: Pillage The Village
Developer: XGen Studios Inc.
Platform: Flash
Website: http://www.xgenstudios.com/

Yesterday was President's Day, and all of my clients in the US were thusly not working, so yesterday was definitely a day for gaming. I had intended to do a review of Protector, but I stumbled onto Kongregate and decided to partake in the challenge listed under Featured Games, and since the last time I had played it I wasn't writing this, today I present to you a review of Pillage The Village.

Pillage The Village is a "prequel" sequel to Defend Your Castle, a very simple pick up and throw the enemies into the air that are attacking your castle/wall/base, etc. type game. This game goes all out though and is a hell of a timekiller.

The controls are relatively simple, you can use your mouse to pick up a villager and hurl them into the air. Some villagers are smarter than others and come with parachutes, jetpacks, grappling hooks, and other means to prevent the untimely death you're about to bestow upon them.

A few levels in, the coins you've been collecting off of corpses come in handy as you can put them towards bigger mana pools for your special spells, richer villagers, or buy spells of a good or evil nature (Lethal injections, dropping giant anvils on your villagers, etc.) in which to wreak havoc on your kingdom.

After hours of playing this game, my mouse started to respond strangely to the bottom half of the screen, preventing me from picking up more coins, though I imagine it very well could've been my browser than the game itself, aside from that there really wasn't anything wrong with my playing experience.
Overall this revisit of Pillage The Village was time well wasted, and I'm likely to play it again soon.

Addiction Level: 9 - I spent like 6 of 8 hours at work playing this yesterday...
Graphics: 7 - A good, simple artstyle.
Sound: 6 - It fits, nothing spectacular.
Gameplay: 9 - Easy to pick up and play.
Replayability: 8 - There's likely not much to do once you beat it, but it's going to take you a long while to get there.

OVERALL: 7.8

WiiWare seems like a good idea, since all Nintendo has had to compete with Microsoft and Sony as far

WiiWare seems like a good idea, since all Nintendo has had to compete with Microsoft and Sony as far as small-scale games bought online was the Virtual Console (I'll get to that in a moment) up against XBox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Store, but it has some obvious faults that any logical thinking would have been directed to fixing beforehand, but following Nintendo's typical turning-a-blind-eye strategy, will probably never be recognized and continue to hinder the service's potential until the next console generation.

Let me explain. To start with, the obvious pro of WiiWare is that it offers up Nintendo's version of smaller scale and budget games to be downloaded for a smaller cost than most games do today, which has the potential to allow for some very creative concepts that can, theoretically, be cheaper to make and easier to release. Significantly outweighing this, on the other hand, is a number of crippling cons. Looking at the first batch of games themselves, the vast majority of the launch titles seem to offer little more than your average flash game one would normally play on the internet... for free. Defend Your Castle actually was a flash game at one point in time, and I'm pretty sure I've already played some variation of Pop on addictinggames years ago. The deeper launch titles, such as Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: My Life as a King and LostWinds, look more promising depending on whether or not you're okay with less game for less price (which sounds okay to me, and should make sense to a lot of people, since Madden manages to sell how many copies every year? and that's with the price going up!), but are marred by a bigger issue: space. Final Fantasy takes up over half of the Wii's flash memory alone, and that's without any of its expansion packs. So basically, if you want to buy two WiiWare games, you could quite possibly be out of luck, and that may not even take playing actual games (the kinds you have to go to the store to get) into consideration.

What's more frustrating is that we already knew this was an issue since we've had Virtual Console games since the Wii was released. The Wii has an incredibly limited amount of storage space, and the only official solution is to transfer data onto SD cards, which as it turns out erases any saved data you may have had, rendering the fix rather pointless. Knowing Nintendo's typical strategy, a real solution will probably never see the light of day, as Nintendo has a habit of just ignoring problems and hoping they'll go away on their own. So it doesn't really matter how much potential WiiWare games themselves have, because any progress made there is immediately lost by this obvious problem that should have been taken care of first in order to garner any credibility.

And as long as I'm almost on the topic, Virtual Console is a great idea, but would be even better if Nintendo would actually release indisputably classic games like they claimed they would.
