A New York City Police Department spokesman said today that the death of a Kazakhstan fashion model

A New York City Police Department spokesman said today that the death of a Kazakhstan fashion model was a suicide, one day after asking for help from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).

Ruslana Korshunove, who would have been 21 on July 2, was known for her long, chestnut locks and "fairytale" face that often graced the covers of Russian Vogue and French Elle magazines. She fell to her death after plunging nine stories from her New York City balcony early Saturday morning.

Investigators initially suspected foul play after finding a bottle of "Uncle Jeb's Fingerprint Removal Spray" on a coffee table in Korshunove's apartment. The cleaning product is popular with Mafia hit men and agents from the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), who often use it to clean up after contract murders and political assassinations.

"There are indications that a government official was having an affair with Miss Korshunove," NYPD spokesman Walter Randolph had said on Saturday. "So we have asked the FBI to look into the case."

When asked if the government official held an elected office, Randolph said yes.

Although murder and suicide investigations are handled at a local or state level, in cases where interns, celebrities, fashion models or professional prostitutes die after getting sexually involved with government officials, the FBI is often called in to help. Such was the case when Deborah Jeane Palfrey -- better known as the "DC Madam" who provided call girls to government officials -- was found hanged in Florida on May 1. Local authorities eventually ruled the hanging a suicide after consulting with the FBI, which offered the opinion that two sets of apparent fingerprints on Palfrey's body were probably the result of skin rashes. Brandy Britton, a call girl who had worked for Palfrey, had similar skin rashes on her body when she committed suicide.

This morning, Randolph announced that the FBI had found no evidence that any government official was involved. Consequently, he said Korshunove's death would be ruled a suicide.

"The FBI could find no link to the government official in question," he said. "So we have concluded that Miss Korshunove committed suicide. She was probably distraught over her good looks, promising career and bright future."

Vitter:

In early July 2007, Vitter's phone number was included in a published list of phone records of Pamela Martin and Associates, a company owned and run by Deborah Jeane Palfrey, also known as the "D.C. Madam", convicted by the U.S. government for running a prostitution service. Hustler magazine identified the phone number and contacted Vitter's office to ask about his connection to Palfrey. The following day, Vitter issued a written statement:

This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible. Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession and marriage counseling. Out of respect for my family, I will keep my discussion of the matter there - with God and them. But I certainly offer my deep and sincere apologies to all I have disappointed and let down in any way.

The statement containing Vitter's apology said his telephone number was included in phone records dating from his days as a member of the House of Representatives.Phone records show that Vitter's number was called by Palfrey's service five times, the first on October 12, 1999, and the last on February 27, 2001.Two calls were placed while House roll call votes were in progress.

...

Craig:

On June 11, 2007, Craig was arrested at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on suspicion of lewd conduct. The nature of the alleged activity has been categorized by some as cottaging. According to the police report, the police officer sat in a bathroom stall as part of an undercover operation investigating complaints of sexual activity in the restroom. After about 13 minutes of sitting in the stall, the police officer observed Craig lingering outside and frequently peeking through the crack of the door on the stall. Craig then entered the stall to the left of the officer's stall. The police officer made the following observations, which he recorded in his report of the incident, as to what happened next:

At 1216 hours, Craig tapped his right foot. I recognized this as a signal used by persons wishing to engage in lewd conduct. Craig tapped his toes several times and moves his foot closer to my foot. ... The presence of others did not seem to deter Craig as he moved his right foot so that it touched the side of my left foot which was within my stall area. Craig then proceeded to swipe his left hand under the stall divider several times, with the palm of his hand facing upward.

According to the incident report and criminal complaint filed in court, the officer showed Craig his police identification beneath the partition separating their stalls, and the officer then pointed his finger towards the restroom exit. Craig initially said no, but he ultimately complied with the officer's request to leave the restroom. After Craig and the officer left the restroom, Craig was reluctant to go with the officer and demanded the officer show his police identification a second time. Once the officer complied with the request, Craig, the arresting officer, and a police detective, who was stationed outside of the restroom, went to the airport police station.

After the arresting officer read Craig his Miranda rights, the officer interviewed Craig about the restroom incident. At one point, Craig handed his business card to the arresting officer, which identified him as a U.S. Senator, and said to him, "What do you think about that?" Craig told the officer that he was worried about missing his flight, and the arresting officer asked the police detective to call the airline to hold the flight. The detective reported that no one answered the telephone for the airline, and the arresting officer proceeded with the interview.

Craig pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct by signing and mailing a plea petition, dated August 1, 2007, to the District Court in Hennepin County, Minnesota. He paid $575, including fines and fees.

...

From CBS: Craig and Vitter have been in the front ranks of GOP members of Congress who preach family values, antigay rights, and opposition to same-sex or civil marriage. Both are married with children.

True, the Democrats have some bad apples, too. Rep. William Jefferson of Louisiana still hasn't really explained how $90,000 in cash found its way into the family freezer. But in a recently published gallery of members of Congress already in the pokey or under investigation, the count was 13 Republicans and two Democrats.

...

After Senator Larry Craig was admonished by the Senate Ethics Committee for acting improperly after his arrest for lewd contact toward another man in an airport bathroom in February 2008, the watchdog group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington questioned why the committee had not taken similar action against Vitter. The committee later dismissed the complaint.

When the Eliott Spitzer prostitution scandal, then governor of New York, hit the headlines, commentators contrasted the end-results: Spitzer resigned while Vitter stayed on. In response, Jeff Crouere, a New Orleans conservative political commentator, called on Vitter to resign saying he was an ineffective representative and reflected poorly on the state. Additionally, one gauge of the scandal's impact, local fundraising, indicated that Vitter has weathered the controversy well: first quarter 2008 finance reports show that he made, according to The Times-Picayune, an "impressive haul". Vitter once again received unwanted attention after the suicide of Palfrey in May 2008.

...

Craig announced that he would serve out his Senate term, but advisors say that Craig will not seek reelection. His term ends January 3, 2009.

Vitter is up for reelection in 2010.

Wide Stance Larry and Canal Street Dave speak out for Republican family values.

Hoping to bring the ignorant and intolerant out to the polls in November, Senator Roger Wicker of Mississippi has introduced Joint Resolution 43, proposing an amendment to the U.S. Constitution that would define marriage as being between a man and a woman. Most of the co-sponsors are usual suspects ― Wayne Allard, Sam Brownback, Michael Enzi, James Inhofe, Pat Robers, Richard Shelby, and John Thune ― but two of the co-sponsors really stand out.

Senator Larry Craig of Idaho, best known for soliciting a sexual encounter with an undercover cop in a Minneapolis airport restroom, stands forth to defend the institution of marriage against those nasty homosexuals. Because, after all, he's an traditional kind of guy who believes that gay sex belongs in a public restroom, not in the home. Wide Stance's values are so traditional that he nearly had a seizure over the Monica Lewinsky scandal: "The American people already know that Bill Clinton is a bad boy - a naughty boy. I’m going to speak out for the citizens of my state, who in the majority think that Bill Clinton is probably even a nasty, bad, naughty boy." Nasty and bad, indeed. You can bet Wide Stance never cheated on his wife Suzanne ― not with another woman, anyway.

Another defender of traditional values is Senator David Vitter of Louisiana, famous mostly for being a client of the late D.C. Madam, Deborah Jeane Palfrey, as well as the Canal Street Madam, Jeannette Maier. Canal Street Dave has bravely stepped forward to oppose same-sex marriage because, you know, letting queers get married would threaten his traditional marriage much more than his long-term business relationship with prostitute Wendy Cortez ― a relationship for which, Vitter assures us, God has forgiven him. So who are you to criticize?

From: Mouth of the Potomac
D.C. MADAM’S CONVICTION DEAD ON ARRIVAL

Three weeks after Debor

From: Mouth of the Potomac

D.C. MADAM'S CONVICTION DEAD ON ARRIVAL

Three weeks after Deborah Jeane Palfrey hanged herself following her conviction by a federal jury for running whores in the nation’s capital, the judge has wiped the books clean of the fabled “D.C. Madam.”

“IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that…the jury verdicts are vacated and the indictment in this matter is dismissed,” U.S. District Judge James Robertson said in a written order today.

Palfrey’s sad end in a tiny shed outside her mom’s trailer in Florida capped an extraordinarily bizarre narrative involving a lady who ascended - though maybe migrated is a better word - from working class to working girls.

Palfrey was always unfailingly polite to The Mouth. She often thanked us for exposing the surreal fantasy life of one of her escorts, Paula Neble, despite ad nauseum explanations that our expose of the fake Ph.D. researcher-turned-hooker wasn’t done as a favor to the defendant. Palfrey had sued Neble, a government witness, for breach of contract and her story was just a tasty subplot to the madam’s saga.

The truly cruel joke was on Debbie Palfrey in the end.

The Pamela Martin & Associates escort service Palfrey happily touted in interviews as “high-priced” after her indictment turned out to be a pretty low rent operation when details emerged at trial this year. She had promised to topple johns at the highest levels of official Washington. But 13 years’ of phone toll records revealed only a State Department appointee, a Louisiana senator and the guy who coined the term “shock and awe.”

The sex scandal involving ex-New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer demonstrated that Palfrey’s $150 an hour sexual services hardly compared to the $1,000 to $5,000 an hour charged by Emperors Club VIP. After Spitzer imploded in March, The Mouth asked Palfrey why anyone would pay so much for sex.

“Why does anyone overpay for anything in the marketplace? Excellent promotion and superb marketing,” Palfrey wrote in her last e-mail to us. “Emperors Club VIP was a very good marketer, from what I have ascertained.”

- James Gordon Meek

When New York Governor Eliot Spitzer geared up to go after the Bush administration for their collaboration with criminals in the US mortgage industry, Spitzer was politically assassinated by having his private business as an escort agency client revealed.

Now the owner of one of the most active DC-based escort services - a favorite of Republicans including McCain and Giuliani - has "hung herself."

Not long ago, so did one of her employees.

And an assistant DA investigating a Republican Maryland governor for using an escort service committed "suicide" by stabbing himself 32 times and throwing himself in a river.

More about these stories here:

Her clients were reputed to be Dick Cheney, John "Madman" McCain, and Rudy Giuliani.

I guess some political escort clients get exposed.

Others are protected by "suiciding" the escorts.

Deborah Jeane Palfrey, the so-called D.C. Madam, killed herself last week. She was due to be sentenced soon for offences related to an elite prostitution ring she ran from 1993 to 2006. In her suicide note addressed to her mother, she wrote:

I cannot live the next 6-8 years behind bars for what both you and I have come to regard as this 'modern day lynching,' only to come out of prison in my late 50's a broken, penniless, and very much alone woman.

At the top of the suicide note were the instructions:

Do not revive. Do not feed under any circumstances.

In the note to her younger sister, Bobbie, Palfrey expressed her love and told her to "be strong for mom."

"Also, you must comprehend that there was no other way out, i.e., 'exit strategy,' other than the one I have chosen here," she wrote. "Know I am at peace, with complete certainty, I believe Dad is standing watch - prepared to guide me into the light."

It is worth noting that Deborah's impending prison time -- that drove her to suicide -- were for offences related to nothing less, and nothing more, than helping consenting adults engage in consensual sexual activity for money.

Condo manager disputes authenticity of suicide notes, clear contradiction between style of letters

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
Wednesday, May 7, 2008

The manager of an Orlando condo building where Deborah Jean Palfrey, also known as the D.C. Madam, owned a unit disputes the alleged suicide notes that were published in the media - after witnessing examples of her handwriting going back years Joe Strizack concludes, "That is not her signature."

"She could sign her signature a hundred times and it would be identical," Strizack told a local NBC news station. "That is not her signature."

"Strizack looked over the suicide notes, but he questioned if the notes were actually written by Palfrey, and if they were, he thinks they may have been written under duress," according to the report.

Strizack remains convinced that Palfrey's demeanor immediately before she allegedly took her own life betrayed no sign that she was contemplating suicide.

"Monday morning a woman tells you that she’s afraid for her life, she told me several instances where people we following her, and Thursday she’s dead," Strizack said. "What do you think? If someone would put a hit out for her and if someone wanted something done they could do it."

Strizack provided us with copies of Palfrey's handwriting from personal letters and bill payments Palfrey had sent to him (click here for images).

While the overall style is obviously similar to the alleged suicide notes, certain letters and numbers are clearly different.

A comparison between one of Palfrey's notes to Strizack shows a difference, for example, in the number "2" (which is curled in the suicide letter but not in the note) and in letters like "T."

A clear contradiction between the two styles is evident with the letter "N" in the word "Need" - which is of a different structure in the suicide note and flamboyantly curls up in comparison with Palfrey's note to Strizack where the letter is much more understated.

An independent analysis on behalf of a handwriting expert needs to be undertaken in order to ascertain whether the writing belongs to Palfrey, is an outright fraud, or shows evidence of having been written under severe duress whereby Palfrey was forced to write the notes at gunpoint, for example.

As we reported on Monday, the content of Palfrey's alleged suicide notes contradicts both her public statements and the context of her situation following her upcoming prison sentence.

Joe Strizack appeared on The Alex Jones Show yesterday and revealed that Palfrey had told him that her client list went “from the White House on down.” Palfrey told Strizack her clients consisted of “a lot of influential people” from both political parties.

Years ago, I read parts of Susan Faludi’s Backlash: The Undeclared War Against American Women

Years ago, I read parts of Susan Faludi's Backlash: The Undeclared War Against American Women for a paper I wrote in a high school history class. The roots of the pro-life movement are rooted not just in religion, but in a feminist backlash. Several leading pro-life groups in the 80s had great disdain for pro-choice sentiment because it implied that women have a right to make to reproductive decisions without consulting their boyfriends or husbands. A pro-choice sentiment gives women more control over their lives as autonomous sexual beings, than a pro-life one that demands that a woman's freedoms are secondary to the fetus that has taken hold inside her.

Throughout the 90s, abortion clinic attacks became the focus of the most extreme pro-lifers. Accordingly, the pro-life movement defined itself as a cause meant to prevent baby murder.

Seems as though PREVENTING unwanted pregnancy would be a great way to bridge the gap between the pro-choice and pro-life crowd. If both sides worked to ensure women had access to adequate birth control, there would be fewer abortions. The Pro-choice side wants women to have control over their own family planning, and since abortion is that last stop on the unwanted baby train, it would seem access to birth control would be a logical point of cooperation.

But the American Life League is upping the ante this summer and on June 7th, it would like you join them in protesting the birth control pill because it kills babies. Yes, making it more difficult for a sperm and egg to collide, as well as preventing a zygote from attaching to the uterine wall, is now also deemed murder. Preventing a pregnancy that could end in abortion is now equally wrong. My favorite parts of their talking points (I italize points of interests for my own emphasis):

Q: How does the pill work?
A: The birth control pill and similar birth control products work in a woman’s body in one of three ways: It can prevent ovulation and it can obstruct sperm from reaching the egg (prevent fertilization) by thickening the cervical mucus. However, if both of these methods fail and a new human person is created, the pill and other contraceptives can stop a tiny child’s implantation in his/her mother’s womb because the pill irritates the lining of the uterus so that the tiny baby boy or baby girl cannot attach to the lining of the uterus and the newly formed human person is aborted and dies.

Here's what that "tiny person" looks like. It's actually zygote, not remotely like a fetus, which would grow to resemble a "tiny person."

But the real mission of this new campaign is left bare.

Q: Isn’t it better to be on the pill when you
are sexually active?
A: Better for whom? The pill does not prevent you from getting a sexually transmitted disease . . . Moreover, sexual activity outside of marriage is seriously wrong.

Q: I’m for reducing the number of abortions, but isn’t using the birth control pill the only way to do that?
A: . . .If you’re single, abstinence is always your best choice. It isn’t always easy, but it always works. By abstaining from sex, you eliminate the possibility of pregnancy and catching a sexually transmitted disease.

At least the ALL is being honest about judging women for having active sex lives, even if it is completely unrealistic. Though a late 1990s survey showing that 1 in 3 thinks sex should be confined to marriage, about 95% of Americans have/had premarital sex, including those born all the way back in the 1940s. Another study found that 93 percent of men and 79 percent of women report having premarital sex.

Women are consistently demonized in the media for so-called immoral behavior. Despite women's lib and 5 years of Samantha Jones getting laid like a man on Sex & the City, women are not on equal societal footing when it comes to embracing their sexuality. For some reason, a segment of American cannot accept a woman as a sentient, sexual being.

Case in point. Consider the trial of Deborah Jeane Palfrey, the DC Madam who committed suicide to avoid her prison sentence. Of the 15000 clients she had amassed in her prostitution ring, just three men were outed. On the other hand, 15 of Palrey's 100+ sex workers were put on the stand and asked to describe in painstaking detail what acts they engaged in with their unnamed johns. The prosecutor is adamant that the names of all 132 women involved be released.

From the audience, it appears that prosecutors have presented a solid case that the alleged Madam, Deborah Jeane Palfrey, did indeed run a prostitution ring. A better question, however, is why they bothered. Prosecutors say the prostitution ring generated all of $2 million over 13 years -- small potatoes for a federal racketeering and money-laundering case that could ruin the lives of 132 women.

It's a question that evidently has occurred to the judge. Yesterday, prosecutors unpacked eight binders full of money-order receipts that reveal the identity of most, if not all, of the Madam's escorts. "You want to make public the names of all the employees?" Robertson asked prosecutor Catherine Connelly. "Is there no limit to the collateral damage?"

Evidently not. Connelly said the names had to be released. "Unfortunately."

(Note to whoever has custody of that little black book: wikileaks.org would be a prime place to upload a pdf copy of Palfrey's client list, especially in an election year).

15,000 men and none face legal consequences for their repetitive, illegal actions, while the women are targets of what Vanessa at Feministing dubbed a "slut-shaming witch hunt".

The American Life League is going to continue encouraging the sexual witch hunt this summer. Because unless you're ready to birth babies, sex shouldn't be an optional activity.

Pissed off? Me too. NARAL Pro-Choice America is taking donations.

PS. I do acknowledge that for some, religious and ethical boundaries are the reason for their pro-life stance. I respect an individual's religious choices, though I disagree with those that expect the government to extend one's religious beliefs to an entire nation regardless of every other citizen's personal religious and ethical proclivities.

PPS. While we're talking about the sexuality police, let's also consider those die-hard, abstinence-only education supporters. Study after study is showing that abstinence-only education is ineffective and pales in comparison to comprehensive sex education. This week author Cristina Page took the time to cross reference teen pregnancy and sexual activity rates with the type sex education available in each state. Her findings?

Turns out pro-life states, those that are prone to tell kids that abstinence is the only proven contraception, and discourage use of actual contraception, then wag their finger at the less "morally superior" states, are where high schoolers are:

· more sexually active

· more likely to have had sex before the age of 13

· more likely to have four or more sexual partners.

Turns out that to be "pro-life" is to be pro-your-young-teen-having-a-risky-sex-life. In addition, the states that are witnessing the most dramatic drop in teen pregnancies are the most solidly pro-choice ones (CA, VT, HI, AK) while the ones where teen pregnancy rates are declining most slowly are anti-choice (NE, MS, WY, OK).

Deborah Jeane Palfrey — better known as the “DC Madam” who ran a call-girl ring in

Deborah Jeane Palfrey -- better known as the "DC Madam" who ran a call-girl ring in Washington, DC that provided sex to senior members of the US government -- will not be getting a stimulus rebate check from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), according to a former IRS official.

Roy Nelson, an employee of the IRS office in Tarpon Springs, Florida, made the announcement early yesterday morning before hanging himself with a nylon rope.

"Deborah Jeane Palfrey will not be receiving a stimulus rebate check," Nelson had said before his suicide. "And it's not just because she committed suicide last week with a nylon rope. It's because the Department of Homeland Security ordered the IRS to send the money to the Central Intelligence Agency's (CIA's) Special Operations Office to cover expenses, I was told."

Nelson was found dangling at the end of a nylon rope shortly after 1:30 p.m. yesterday, according to his supervisor Jenny McMahon.

"Roy was in the process of auditing a taxpayer when the taxpayer excused himself to use the restroom," McMahon said. "Thirty minutes later the taxpayer, Mr. James Bahnd, ran into my nearby office in a panic and said Roy had been accidentally hanged during the audit."

Mr. Bahnd, who does contract work for the CIA, said he requested to be audited by Nelson late yesterday morning after realizing that he had not reported $10 in income from an instant lottery scratch ticket he purchased more than six months ago.

Police in Tarpon Springs declared Nelson's death a suicide shortly before arriving on the scene. After interviewing Nelson's coworkers, they feel that Nelson took his own life out of guilt.

"All of Mr. Nelson's coworkers said that he was a happy person with a zest for life," said Tarpon Spring's Police Chief Bernard Fife. "Obviously, with so much suffering in the world, he felt guilty because he was very happy. It's a shame."

Fife said that no autopsy will be performed on Nelson's body, because during the process of transporting it the corpse fell out of the trunk of a police car and was consumed by sharks.

Today's roundup of random info for you all:

MONEYED INTERESTS FINALLY GET PART OF WHAT THEY REALLY WANT FROM THEIR GOVERNMENT: AUTONOMY?

And in one of the saddest stories in the news, after the infamous DC Madam Debbie Palfrey hung herself, the press has offered a PDF FILE of her actual suicide note to the public. I was actually quite saddened to read this document.

. Just sad. America has repressed its own sexuality so much that when someone, an individual, is responsible for facilitating sexual encounters, (Senators, college graduate call-girls) that the Madam is scape-goated for societal disapproval. My father always used to suggest that sex should be just like a handshake. Of course, that was idealism and he's remained faithfully married to the best of my knowledge for some time, but the message still rings true.

If you feel inclined to read about this a bit more I would suggest going to this site:

I don't understand the continual surprise over negative campaigning. Its track record is unparalleled. DC, after all, is a town better known for its madam than its political messiahs.

But my real question is, do we even deserve a better kind of politics?

There are corporations in America that employ illegal immigrants, which we often forget is totes ill

There are corporations in America that employ illegal immigrants, which we often forget is totes illegal, and aren't prosecuted by the government. Other global corporations pollute our planet, abuse their workers, and force children to work in sweatshops. Far too many employers pay an unequal wage to women -- thus making a profit right off the bat from gender discrimination.

So what do you think about Deborah Jeane Palfrey -- the so-called DC Madam? You read about her in the papers, sí? She ran a corporation, so to speak, and made a living in the 'escort service' industry. Ms. Palfrey was tried and convicted of money laundering, using the mail for illegal purposes, and racketeering.

Deborah Jeane Palfrey's Suicide Notes: Death Was My Only "Exit Strategy." - Politics on The Huffington Post

Is it too political for me to speculate that Ms. Palfrey was convicted for having the audacity to trade in and profit from the commodity of sex? Is there no place for a discussion about work -- and what some people really do for a living in America -- on a blog about Human Resources?

I have some questions, Suckers. Let's start with the basics.

Is prostitution a real crime?

Was Ms. Palfrey prosecuted and harshly sentenced based on her gender?

Was suicide her only way out?

Would the abolition of the income tax and the implementation of a consumption tax ensure that pimps and prostitutes pay their fare share of taxes?

Anyone have answers? I'd love to know what you think. (Personally, I think this is tragic and sickening. I heard the 911 call made by Ms. Palfrey's mother and I thought, wow, a woman killed herself over a poor career choice -- a career that's in demand in the marketplace, no less. Sigh.)

In case you've somehow missed this...

DC Madam allegedly wrote that she would leave prison "penniless" despite prospect of multi-million dollar book deal and Hollywood movie

Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
Monday, May 5, 2008

Deborah Jeane Palfrey's alleged suicide notes were released today and given full court press by a corporate media that largely refused to cover her statements that she would never commit suicide and the statements of her friends and family who said she wasn't suicidal, but Palfrey's alleged reason for killing herself, that she would be "penniless" upon leaving prison, contradicts the fact that a multi-million dollar book deal was in the pipeline.

The alleged suicide notes are very short (the one addressed to Palfrey's sister is little over 4 small paragraphs) and written in all capital letters.

According to the alleged suicide notes (PDF link), Palfrey wrote to her mother that she could not "live the next 6-8 years behind bars for what you and I have come to regard as this 'modern day lynching,' only to come out of prison in my late '50s a broken, penniless and very much alone woman."

Firstly, Palfrey's supposed fear of spending 6-8 years behind bars does not correlate with the expectations of the vast majority of legal analysts who expected Palfrey to receive a sentence of 2-3 years.

Just a few days before her death, Palfrey herself, "Said she was preparing for federal prison. She hoped she'd get time off her sentence for good behavior. She thought she might buy a place in Germany one day," according to Baltimore Sun report, who noted that the DC Madam was "musing about her future" and had apparently come to terms with the fact that she would be returning to prison.

Secondly, Palfrey's fear that she would be "penniless" upon leaving jail does not correlate with the fact that she was in line to make millions for a best-selling tell-all memoir that was in the pipeline, not to mention Hollywood movies, documentaries, speaking tours and TV guest appearances.

Even establishment media mouthpiece The Washington Post conceded that, "There would have been book deals, movies, forgiveness, VIP tickets to charity balls," upon Palfrey's release and that she would not have been shunned.

Or as the Gun Toting Liberal blog put it, "Hollywood and book deals were waiting to transform her into a MULTI-MILLIONAIRE for spilling her guts," adding that Palfrey would spend three years in a “country club” in exchange for never having to work another day in her life.

An interesting coincidence could be derived from Palfrey's alleged use of the term "Exit Strategy," a phrase with connotations of the Iraq war, to describe her suicide in the note to her sister. Palfrey had previously named retired United States Naval Commander Harlan Ullman, author of the "shock and awe" combat strategy, as one of her clients.

As Alex Jones has discussed in the past, political assassinations made to look like suicide are sometimes covered-up by forcing the victim to write a suicide note under threat of harm coming to their family.

In another development, a ruling issued today by the Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiners Office concluded that Palfrey's death was a suicide.

The Tarpon Springs, Fla., Police Department tells reporters that it didn't find any evidence that "would indicate anything other than a suicide by hanging in this case," reported USA Today.

However, with both Palfrey's condo manager Joseph Strizack and her own mother clearly indicating that she was not suicidal and that Palfrey feared that a contract had been put out on her, in addition to the multiple on-the-record statements Palfrey made indicating she had no interest in killing herself and warnings that if she was found dead to suspect murder, an exhaustive FBI investigation and one that lasts longer than a few days should be demanded.

An impending prison sentence wasn’t the only reason Deborah Jeane Palfrey, DC Madam extraordin

An impending prison sentence wasn't the only reason Deborah Jeane Palfrey, DC Madam extraordinaire, hanged herself. Let's just say that Deborah -- or DJ as I called her -- was a close friend of mine. Don't jump to conclusions based on the picture the media is now painting. DJ was a bright, enterprising, beautiful and all-around wonderful lady. True, she was no stranger to the world of racketeering and prostitution. But who among us hasn't broken some law? She saw a niche market, and she availed herself of it. Is that so wrong? Between the summer of 2005 and last month, DJ and I spent many romantic weekends sneaking around Georgetown, enjoying Early Bird Specials with her creepy mom in Florida and generally enjoying one another's company. But DJ wanted something I couldn't give her -- something more stable, more traditional. Because in her heart of hearts, that's what she was: stable. Traditional. My marriage, my job and my certainty that some day soon, the governor of New York would fall, prevented me from giving myself entirely. She deserved more, and I ended our relationship, albeit reluctantly. DJ didn't take it well. The trial, the notoriety ... it was too much for her. She couldn't go back to prison, and she ... couldn't go back to anyone else, if you catch my drift. She was ruined. Do I blame myself? A little. But it feels good to confess. It really does.

The woman known as the “DC Madam” stole Central Intelligence Agency stationary to write

The woman known as the "DC Madam" stole Central Intelligence Agency stationary to write her suicide notes on, a CIA spokeswoman said today.

Deborah Jeane Palfrey committed suicide last week, shortly after learning that she would likely only get limited prison time for running a call-girl ring that catered to senior members of the US government. That news and the fact that she would get rich on book and movie deals after leaving prison caused her to become despondent and suicidal, according to authorities in Tarpon Springs, Florida where Palfrey hanged herself.

Palfrey left several suicide notes written on official CIA stationary using official CIA ink and an official CIA handwriting style. According to CIA spokeswoman Sandra Cunningham, no charges will be filed against Palfrey for theft of government property or fraudulently using government writing styles.

"There's no point, because she's dead," Cunningham said to reporters. "It's time to move on. Nothing to see here."

Cunningham also said that it's possible Palfrey may have given some of the stationary to prostitutes who are expected to hang themselves this week in protest over her death.

"Any prostitute caught with CIA stationary who is not hanged will definitely be prosecuted," she said.

But obviously since she was focused on her “complete forfeiture of my entire life savings and work” and on coming out “in my late 50s a broken, penniless and very much alone woman” It is obvious that she felt she had no hope.
Palfrey, 52, was convicted of money laundering, racketeering and mail fraud in April. She had been staying at her mother's Tarpon Springs home while awaiting sentencing in July and told ABC News last year she would never return to prison after serving time in the 1990s for other prostitution-related charges.

"You must comprehend there was no way out, I.E. 'exit strategy,' for me other than the one I have chosen here," Palfrey wrote in the note to her sister.

Palfrey released the telephone records of her business, Pamela Martin & Associates, to reporters as she awaited trial. Those records linked two high-profile officials to her firm -- State Department official Randall Tobias, who resigned in May 2007 after confirming he patronized Palfrey's business, and Sen. David Vitter, R-Louisiana, who apologized last July for "a very serious sin in my past."

Neither Tobias nor Vitter have faced charges in the case.

During her trial, Palfrey insisted she ran only a legal escort service -- "Basically a bunch of benign women who want to make a living," she told CNN in March. "This is not racketeering by any means -- this is running a business."

Palfrey was convicted April 15 in connection with a high-end prostitution ring catering to Washington 's elite. She was found guilty of money laundering, racketeering and mail fraud and faced a maximum 55-year prison term at her sentencing, scheduled for July 24.

She had said in interviews that she would kill herself before going to prison.

"I'm looking at 55 years in a federal penitentiary, and at my age, that is virtually a life sentence," Palfrey told CNN Radio's Ninette Sosa in March. "Realistically, we estimate between eight and 15 years. I'm also looking at the complete forfeiture of my entire life savings and work."

She said in the interview that the government "went after me. They found out that I'm not who they thought I was, and instead of dropping the whole matter, they decided to press forward and -- what the heck -- she's a woman, she's weak. We'll intimidate her, we'll humiliate her, we'll pounce on this poor lady and she'll give in."

Palfrey also told writer Dan Moldea, who was helping her write a book, that she would commit suicide rather than return to jail, according to Time magazine.

The “D.C. Madam” left her mother and sister a suicide note before she took her life. D

The "D.C. Madam" left her mother and sister a suicide note before she took her life. Deborah Jeane Palfrey just couldn't fathom going back to prison for what she had done. She felt that she was a victim of a "modern day lynching". Please. This woman knows nothing of the sort. She is just one who the "system" has turned on. I can't even say the system turned on her. She had her day. She made her money. Yeah, sure, maybe some of the big political movers and shakers were in her clientele group...you never know. Either way, they didn't save her. They had to save themselves.

How one can pen a suicide note, as if that will leave the family with some "peace" about your selfish decision, is beyond me. If you have the mental capacity to sit down and write the note, then you have the same ability to get help for your suicidal thoughts or just to man up to your punishment. I don't cut anyone a lick of slack for their belief that "there was no other option". Please. Everyone is up against something at one point or another in their life. If suicide was the way out, everybody would take that route. It's a way for quitters. It's a method for losers.

I feel sorry for her mother and sister. I'm sure they don't agree with your reasonings. Your reasons were real weak, if you ask me. Oops. You can't ask me anything. You're no longer here.

Oh well. Maybe if you come back as a cow, you can read this on moomoo.wordpress.com

or are we going on about the wrong things?

For example:

1) Miley Cyrus in the (red satin) sheet(s.) Okay, maybe it's because I'm not a mom (of a teenage girl), but I don't get it. Miley poses for an artistic lovely shot by one of the world's best photographers and it's a National Crisis. Meanwhile, Jamie Lyn Spears (same approximate age) gets pregnant and gets a RAISE, not to mention keeping her spot on her Nickelodeon show; girls a few years younger than Miss Miley are half-naked regularly (go to the mall, the jr. high dance, a bar mitzvah for pete's sake); and today I turned on tv at 6 p.m (SIX!) to girls baring their breasts on an "E wildest spring break moments feature." Oy.

Yes, maybe those girls are 18 in the spring break shot, maybe they're 20. Still.
And no, I'm not condoning the prostitot-ization of our world. It actually disturbs me, greatly.

But an attractive young adult, on the brink of womanhood, showing a tasteful glimpse of that in an artistic way? it doesn't offend me. In fact I wish the Britneys, Tila Tequilas and Kim Kardashians of the world could have a sliver of this art and grace in their long-since-emerged sensuality.

To hear a counterpoint that considers a lot of sources and perspectives, please check out Mir's Miley Cyrus headed down a slippery (half-naked) slope? | BlogHer (and yes, I've just discovered "Blogher" in case you haven't noticed by all the blogher references on my page lately.)

2) Obama and Wright
I swear an MS NBC special on this Big Controversy played the same portions of the same speeches (Obama's race relations and Wright's apology and then not and ... well you get the picture) over and over in a one hour special. Type it in on google and you get a bazillion hits including this from our pal Christopher Hitchens Is Michelle Obama responsible for the Jeremiah Wright fiasco? - By Christopher Hitchens - Slate Magazine.

Again, I just don't get it. I thought parts of The Historic Race Speech were intelligent, articulate, thought-provoking. I think some of what Rev. Wright says is similarly thought-provoking and afflicting in all the best ways that would hope a guide or leader would do, especially a spiritual one. But... as a Scandal? Controversy? I don't get it, I really don't.

Why should Obama control what his preacher might have said, ever, on any subject. And if he should? Shouldn't John McCain
McCain’s Pastors: Same Questions, Different Answers - America’s Election HQ answer at least the same questions?

It seems only fair.

What should we be paying attention to?
The Associated Press: 'D.C. Madam' apologized to mom, sister in suicide notes. Modern day lynching indeed. Eliot Spitzer's call girl gets a record deal, he enters rehab, nobody even remembers David Vitter's crimes and the DC Madam's the one going to jail? I don't get it - why are escort services illegal? Why is there STILL this mentality that only the women are to blame?

It seems our priorities are still out of order.
But maybe it's just me.
