I embarassed myself today.

So, as you knw, my great gran died. My PE teacher was being really harsh on me, andstuff. I kinda held my tears in until most of the class had gone back to the changing room.

Anyway, I had to listen to Miss go on about how my gran would have loved me, and stuff. She didn't even know her.

And, when I went back to the changing rooms, I got loads of "are you okays?" from all of the people who don't care whether I live or die. They were just being nosey, and trying to buddy up to me.

When my mum came and picked me up, we totally walked passed the boy-who-loves-me-but-doesn't-know-it-yet-2, and mum drew ATTENTION to us, saying "Hi, ______________!". I looked a total mess in front of him, with my puffy, red eyes and stuff.

And, then, guess what? We walked passed the art rooms, and a class in the X band were totally lining up outside of it. And guess who them people were? Yeah, you guessed it, John, Connor, Chris and Jaye.

Mhhm, no shit.

I've shown weakness infront of my ex, and his idiot friends.

yes. I know, self centered blog, much? But, that, my darlings, is why I got this blog.

So take it or leave it.

xo

Featuring: April Schaack, Brian Drummond, Connor Drummond, David Drummond, Donald Davis, Kristin Schaack, Logan Martin, Phil Snyder, Somer Drummond, Sue Drummond + Tom Sorenson

This last weekend, we've been sharing the tingle!!! We just completed our video for the Carmex - Share the Tingle contest. The folks at Carmex wanted a unique Carmex story, they wanted to know why people love Carmex and/or how you share the tingle - and all under 3 minutes! They will be "rewarding the most promising up and coming film-makers with [cash] and other fabulous prizes (i.e. a 5 year supply of Carmex!). Videos will be judged on creativity (tingliness), humor, overall appeal and popular vote in case of a tie."

We truly made this a family (and a few close friends) affair - parents, cousins, uncles, friends sharing together - mass hysteria! Our l'il studio was a revolving door bringing our family and friends in and out Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We had such a great time with everybody. They all brought something different to the tingle :O)

And I think we can all agree that we learned a few important lessons from this PSA - if you want to kiss a girl, refrain from using excessive tongue + use Carmex! And, it's completely acceptable to share the tingle with your ex-fiance!

The winning videos will be announced on or around October 13 - we will be sure to update you all here! You can Rate our video entry on YouTube (in case of a tie), and if you'd like to check out the other Carmex contestants, click here.

Trivia: how many times do I use the word Carmex in this entry?

Answer: a lot!

¡Ponte a verla!

[caption id="" align="alignleft" width="311" caption="Desperate Housewives"][/caption]

Terminator - The Sarah Connor Chronicles 2

Terminamos por ahora con estas series de drama, despues seguiremos con la comedia y tendremos por aca series como: Chuck, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, The New Adventures of Old Christine y Two and a Half Men...

Today was meant to be my first day “back on the job”, I’d had a full week out of h

Today was meant to be my first day "back on the job", I'd had a full week out of hospital, relaxing and settling in, and today was going to be my first day back as amazingly-constructive-supermum. HAH! I woke up just before seven (Dan had already been up since 5:30 with Declan), watched Nick Jr. with the boy, broke two needles on my sewing machine, watched half of Dr. Phil and then had a three hour nap. I'm starting to feel like I'm spending all of my day either asleep or sitting on the sofa with my norks out, this was fine when Declan was a newborn as I didn't have any other responsibilities, but with a toddler running around it's a great deal harder, even with my Mum's help. I just feel like I need an extra 12 hours in the day just to sleep.

Connor is such a laid back baby, very calm, a great sleeper, excellent with feeding, very big on the cuddles, and still very quiet, the most noise I've heard from him to date has been a particularly loud squeak when his big brother's foot came into rather sharp contact with his head - in D's defence, this was a complete accident and when he realised he'd hurt the baby I think he was probably the more upset out of the two of them.

Declan is being wonderful, although he's got into the habit of ridiculously early mornings, he's doing great with the baby, will rub his back to help burp him, he'll try and give him the dummy, he gets upset if Connor is distressed and so far has been awesome with him. I'm going to look at some child care places next week to think about putting him in for just one day a week to give him some time away from me and some socialisation with other toddlers. The three weeks I spent away from him made me realise he doesn't need me by his side 24/7, as much as the control freak in me would like that, and I know how much he would benefit from some time spent away from me, playing with other children and developing his social skills further.

I've found the transition from one child to two far easier than going from none to one, my attitude this time round is so much better and I think that's definitely rubbing off on the boys, I'm a calmer and more relaxed Mum. Tomorrow my Mum is going out for the afternoon so it will be my first time left alone with the two of them, I'm actually looking forward to it, I feel confident and oddly relaxed about it. I remember when Dan had to go back to work when Declan was about ten days old and I was completely alone with him for the first time, I was in tears when he left and I think kept them up for most of the morning, the idea of which I just find hilarious now. Whether it's a case of "been there, done that", or the medication I'm now on, who knows, but I do know that I much prefer the person and Mum I am this time around, that is, when I don't feel like a zombie :D

I made a temporary header until Connor can make me one, because I could not stand not having a header, I think it is going to be really cool. This blog will soon have pages, I have some on my mind right now that I may work on. So stay tuned for a new header and pages soon! Also, my daily post is coming soon, It will be about my day, what I did, what I was thinking, etc. I'll think of something to write about. But right now, it's to early to write about all that.

We have been in our house for just over a week now. And I am so in love with this house, it is unr

We have been in our house for just over a week now. And I am so in love with this house, it is unreal. Is it normal for a first time homebuyer to love a house this much? And I love the fact that the house is 10 years older than I am. It has amazing creaks and clanks going on throughout the day as it goes about its business of giving us shelter and being our home. Makes me wonder about the families that lived here before us. What memories did they make in our new home? What milestones did they or their children reach in this house?

The only downside to the house is that we wake up every day with new things to add to the "to do" list. This weekend we primed and painted the guest bedroom, just have to finish the trim. We also changed all of the exterior deadbolts and handles (all 5 of them!). We bought new tile to put down in the foyer to replace the grody linoleum and also discussed laminate for the main living room.

We are still living amid a chaos of boxes. But they are mostly my crafting things, our book collection and dvd collection. DH has to build shelves for us, you know, because his list isn't quite long enough : ) He built us a great book shelf while we lived in Guam. It is Mahogany and is tall and simple. He basically wrecked it for me and store-bought bookshelves. Our old house in Saipan had cheap-o shelves in the living room that were the brackets and piece of board kind that we used to put our dvd's on. Hey, they were there when we moved in and it was a rental, so we weren't going to go about changing things. They worked for the year that we were there.

One of our neighbors came and introduced herself to me tonight and brought me the prettiest bouquet of daisies, carnations and gerber daisies. So sweet. She seems like one of those people that you just want to sit down and have a pot of tea with and get to know better. But I was a dunce as usual and didn't invite her in. Social ineptness, check. I always think of the proper thing to do after the fact. Sometime I will invite her over though. In my 13 years of living on my own, I have never had a neighbor come and introduce themselves to me, let alone bring me flowers. I am lucky, this seems to be a great neighborhood.

Speaking of the neighborhood, we saw a juvenile black bear walking down our street about a block from the house one day. It was cute and ran right into someone's yard and up to their porch when it realized we were behind it. The neighbor lady brought it up tonight and asked me if I saw "our yearling" wandering around during the day. I am not too concerned about the bears right now...they are pretty fat and satisfied and have hibernation on their minds. But come this spring when they wake up, I will be much more cautious.

And since a blog post isn't much fun without pictures, I will share a cooking adventure that BTH & I had last month in the vacation house. Anyone that knows me well knows that I adore chocolate and think that chocolate + peanut butter is about as close to heaven on earth as you can get. Especially when eaten in a nice bath while the baby is sleeping. I have found that my favorite chocolate/peanut butter combo is made by Hershey's. They come in giant bars and also as filled Kisses. Reeses is good in a pinch, but the peanut butter isn't nearly as smooth as Hershey's. For a while there, I was eating a bag of Kisses every other day.

Yeaaaahhhhh...

I decided that I needed to do something drastic to help curb my craving. So, I set out to make massive peanut butter cups, like the kind you get in the gourmet candy shops. I figured that I would beat my craving into submission by overdose. I am so smart.

Basically, I just took cupcake liners (I couldn't find the mini ones) and melted a small amount of milk chocolate chips and spread that into the liner to make the bottom and side shell of the cup. I stuck that in the freezer for the time being while I made the peanut butter filling. For the filling, I took peanut butter (we use the kind that you grind at the store. If your store doesn't have a peanut grinder, you can get a jar of all natural peanut butter), then I mixed in a bit of softened unsalted butter and some powdered sugar. I didn't measure amounts, I just mixed until it was smooth and tasted good to me. I then plopped that mix into the shells that I made before and smoothed the top. Then back in the freezer. I then melted some more milk chocolate chips and poured that on top of the peanut butter cup, sealing it in. Then I let them set up in the freezer for a bit. I looked for recipes on different websites but most were pretty strange and included adding wax to the chocolate. Eww. I wanted something simple and straightforward.

They were good, even BTH got a few nibbles. But don't tell DH. And please don't mention to him that I have more chocolate chips on my mental shopping list for tomorrow. Because I haven't had a peanut butter cup in at least 10 days. Guess my plan of conquering my addiction didn't work.

I might be scarce for a bit...our new internet plan has limited internet usage and we need to get a good idea about how much we are online before we have overages.

Peace.

Dan made his decision this afternoon and Connor is now officially Connor Lorne Treacy. The forms are filled in and will be sent off tomorrow and then that's it, set!

He came off the monitors and out of the nursery yesterday morning and is doing great so I feel a bit better talking about what went on. I basically dilated from 4cm to 9cm in less than an hour and then my body started evicting him without much warning and the slow transition of labour. He went into distress and his heartbeat dropped so there was no slowing me down and waiting for the Doctor, just a rush to get him out asap, Dan played the role of the second midwife and took orders and ran around grabbing things for the MW delivering. Connors head came out without any dramas at all, no tearing at all, but at that point we discovered that the cord was wrapped around his neck, too tight to slip over his head, so that was cut instantly and he made his way into the world, completely limp and blue.

They whisked him straight onto the heat bed whilst three midwives worked on him with oxygen, stimulation and trying everything to get him going. I could just see his little hand, watching them pick it up over and over again only to see it flop down and hearing them talk to him and encourage him to pick up, it's all very surreal. After five minutes they said it had been too long to keep trying there and so called our paediatrician and took him straight down to the special care nursery.

It was four hours sitting around in the birth suite waiting for the epi to wear off and for someone to actually take care of me, I delivered his placenta, my doctor finally arrived and apologised profusely for not making it, I took a shower, had some dinner and was finally allowed to go and see him just before seven. The general consensus was that he was just shell shocked at the delivery, his oxygen levels were great, his blood tests came back clear, and he was breathing fine, he was just suffering from some real stress from coming into the world at that kind of speed, combined with the cord being around his neck really affected him.

He took his first feed from a tube, managed his second on the bottle (thank you to the anonymous mama who donated her milk!) and by his third was on the boob, he's taken a while to get it, but his latch is great, he's just a very lazy feeder, we've been doing better today and he's becoming more efficient, down from over an hour each side to just 45 minutes now.

I'm feeling great, healing well and the worse complaint I have is backache, totally different from D's birth!

Declan isn't overly interested so far, he poked him and announced "baby!" just to clarify incase we weren't sure what I'd birthed, when he was visiting he would just lean over at him and giggle, I'm curious to see how he'll be when we come home on Tuesday. I think he deserves more credit than I'm giving him, I think he'll adjust a lot better than I had previously thought.

It seems I just had a baby! He was taken to special care a few minutes after being born due to some complications (I'll talk about all that in a future post), but he's fine now. He's now breathing on his own, he's been transferred out of the heat crib and into a normal one, the next step is just having him feed without any aid, at the moment he's taking formula through a tube in his nose, I'm going in in a few hours to try and boob him for the first time and hopefully some skin on skin contact will make him slightly more alert and happy, all of his blood tests have come back fine, he was completely limp at birth so I have no idea of APGAR scores or anything - everyone had other things to worry about!

The birth was awesome, I told Dan straight afterwards that if I could have a birth like that every time we could have twenty more kids! It was the polar opposite of Declan's birth, just really wonderful, I could just do without the big scare at the end of it! Dan was great throughout, I think he enjoyed this experience far more than watching me scream and swear for twelve hours!

He doesn't look a great deal like Declan, his colouring is much darker and instead of D's very fine light brown hair he has a head of very dark wavy hair. Haven't seem his eyes yet so I can't report on them, but I assume they'll be the same grey/blue that Dan, Declan and I have. He has ten fingers and ten toes and at the moment I'd say he has his father's nose - one of the traits that De missed out on!

Connor ???? Treacy
3:07pm Friday 19th September
7lb 11oz 56cm

*edit*: Fern = Maths FAIL 3.5kgs = 7.7lbs which is 7lb 11oz not 7lb 7oz. She just wanted to fix the Baby pool so she'd win it.... -- Dan.

He has no middle name yet! I've handed that over to Dan completely as Connor was my pick of the names, there are a few we're throwing around, I've told him to come back in the morning with a definite name for him so I'll update you when that happens.

And just so he isn't left out, this is my blue eyed boy on his last ever day as an only child, if only he knew what was to come!

I'm not sure when I'll be out, it depends on how Connor does with feeding, but I'm hoping to be home with my family by Wednesday at the very latest.

So I'm quite adept at trolling the cybersphere (if I do say so myself), and I've been finding everything I can on this whYriot thing. Despite actually being a member, contact with this organization is still just sort of off and on, you never know when they're going to come out with something new. But I wanted to compile a list of links to things I've found, as the internet seems to be the most prevalent medium for whYriot communications. There's even a Wikipedia article?! Anyway here goes - feel free to post your own links as well.

Websites:

Official whYriot Blog

Wikipedia Article

Video:

UCLA vs BYU whYriot kid jumps out of the stands and runs a flag around the stadium?

Some freshmen recount their whYriot adventures.

Rosebud Night?

And yes, it looks like that video at the game was indeed seeded by the whYrioters. Pretty sweet. I might just make this post sticky, and I will of course be updating it as events unfold. Stay tuned for sure.

connor's first day of preschool was fabulous! he was so excited to finally be "going to school" like big brother. he was thrilled they spent the morning cutting paper and coloring. too bad he doesnt go everyday like big brother because this has become quite the problem around here.
