Another in a series of kennel raids and closures, Almost Heaven Kennel owned by Derbe "Skip" Eckhart, Emmaus, received a visit from the PSPCA yesterday. Officials found over 800 animals living in filth, 65 dead bodies, and signs of serious neglect. Eckhart has a long history of animal abuse dating back to 1988. Other than avoiding to fund this man by purchasing animals from him or using his services, there is one more thing you can do to help prevent this from happening again. Never offer an animal "free to a good home." Eckhart was obtaining pets through false pretences this way, using the aid of other individuals. Although I am unsure of the current status, he was even licensed as a non-profit kennel, and was representing himself as a "rescue."

If you feel that you cannot keep your pet, please exercise all options before giving up. This includes veterinary treatment, financial aid and pet food banks, boarding services, professional trainers and behaviorists, and thinking seriously about the lifetime commitment you promised this animal when you decided to take him or her home. If all this fails, seek an adoption fee, always spay/neuter the pet before finding a new home, and seek guidance from a local animal shelter or rescue group. To begin with, bichon frise breeders do not want people who are looking for a family pet to breed one of their dogs without being a specialist in knowing what makes a quality show dog, and how to produce them. They do not want their reputation sullied by being associated with anyone who has poor breeding skills and produces a litter of mutts with one of their bichons, or breeds the dog with an incompatible sire or dam, or a bichon frise with weak or corrupt genes.

Professional bichon breeders know how to produce champions and improve the wellbeing of the breed by pairing the right dogs together. Breeding is more than simply finding two good looking canines - it’s a science. Various characteristics and genetics must be considered to ensure that strong pedigrees are created and continued, while weaker ones are weeded out.

Secondly, if you have no intention of breeding a dog, both bichon frise breeders and veterinarians will tell you that having your pet spayed or neutered is healthier for them. This is because it can reduce the risk of certain health issues, such as developing cancer of the reproductive organs. Thus, it has the potential to actually lengthen your dog’s life.

Thirdly, by ensuring your bichon has the ultimate birth control method, you will avoid accidental pregnancies, which can result in a litter of dogs you don’t know what to do with and don’t want.   Log on to the Internet and find the websites that pertain to each of these clubs.  Both organizations will have a webpage devoted to reputable breeders who are registered with them. On this page you will discover their contact information and can then begin communicating with those closest to where you live.
• Search the Internet
  Using your favorite search engine, you can lookup keyword phrases such as the name of the breed combined with your state or city (I.E. “basset hound breeders New Jersey”).
• Check the classified section in your city and national papers for advertisements.

Once you find an organization you like, remember that you need to learn everything about them and their business.  You also need to be able to visit their premises prior to obtaining your puppy, and be allowed to spend time with the dogs.  Any reputable breeder will insist on your visit and will want to know everything about your lifestyle and dog/basset experiences.  In addition, he/she will want to match you with the right pooch from the litter.   Therefore, know what to expect from trustworthy basset hound breeders.

     First there was a hen, 75 Triangle band #5989, which was three quarters of my foundation hen.  This bird was exceedingly active.  One of the most frequent I have ever bred.  She would roll to the point of utter exhaustion, and barely able to fly, would glide to the wire and sit there weakly..  On one of these occasions, a crow noticed something was wrong with her and dove down trying to peck her head.  She flew to my porch where my cat was sitting.  I ran and grabbed her just as the cat was getting ready to pounce.  The cat lost a couple of its nine lives on that occasion.

     It was my practice at the time to fly my breeders between breeding seasons, and this practice led to the loss of this valuable bird.  She turned up  missing, and I found her body 2 days later on a factory rooftop adjacent to my pottery studio.  She had blood stains on the feathers around her vent. 

   The decision to fly my breeders also led to the loss of a valuable stock cock, 73 CCRC #384, a grandson of Pensom's 119 cock.  I didn't think that I was making the amount of progress that I should have been, and I wanted to get a look at what this bird was capable of doing in the air.  I never found out, because I lost him.  Every time a bird is released to fly, we have to remember that it can be lost.

    Losing 384 was probably the catalyst for the hardest decision I ever made in my years of breeding.  Some thought that Heart Attack, 77 CRS #905, was the best bird in my loft.  However, she was unrelated to my main family of birds and I had come to the realization that I had to focus on a smaller gene pool to make the progress I hoped to make.  I carefully evaluated my breeding records, and I charted the results, making my first "family trees".  This made it clearer to me that my main family was showing progress, while other birds were less productive.  It was at this point that I decided to let  Heart Attack and the rest of her family go.

    I had ealier mated 384 to his daughter Heart Attack, and I produced a 3/4 son.  This son was bred to an almond daughter of my foundation hen and produced a "white almond" or white ticked cock which was the deepest rolling bird, with brakes. that I have evet bred.   He would always roll deep, and the pattern would always be the same.  First he would roll 50 feet with decent speed for that depth, then he would "switch wings" causing a hitch in the roll, and go another 50 feet visably much slower.  Finally, he would switch wings a second time and would flop, exhausted, another 50 feet.

    I eventually sold this bird because of the fact that it switched wings and the way its style degenerated as it rolled.  True, the bird never had an accident and rolled about 150 feet, but I was seeing the faults rather that the positive qualities.  The person I sold the bird to, a Mr. Alexander, had a lot of success with 1240, and bred many good, deep rollers out of him.  I had never given him a chance in the stock loft.

What is a dungeon party?

What is a high level pet?

- A high level pet is defined as any pet of a higher level than party members. I would further split this up into r4, r5, evo3, and r6 pets. The higher the level above the party members, the better off the party will be for the party.

- HLP is an abbreviation for a high level pet

What pets can be used?

- technically any pet can be used but usually a desired pet is one that can tank and keep aggro. If party members are smart even a pet without the area of effect skill or threat toggle can effectively be used.

- even bps and rps can tank if they are high enough but ideally you would use the bp to heal and the rp to dd

- my favorite high level pets to use are angel and hawk for tanking and the kenta for damage dealing, if possible.

Why are high level pets different from my same level pet?

- although the high level pets are not as strong on lower level characters (they are nerfed), they still are stronger than a  pet the same level as the owner due to higher stats, better skills, high level skills, and better equipment. They also have an inherent dodge bonus due to the level difference between themselves and the mobz

So how do we make sure things go well?

- You need to treat the high level pet as if you would treat a tank

- Let the pet keep the attention or aggro of the mobz - ALL the mobz

- Let the pet hit the pulled mob first

- Let the pet hit the chipped mob first

- DO NOT solo a mob - ideally the clerics can damage deal if the pet does all the tanking.

- If you are being attacked by a mob and cannot solo effectively, do not keep attacking it. Let the high level pet or the tank character in your party take it from you OR use a crowd control spell and do not attack it (stun, sleep, nightmare, etc)

- Realize that in most cases if you do not follow the above rules and you die, it is usually your fault, especially if you are pulling 10+ mobz at a time because if the cleric heals you he will die

- Do I have to have a high level pet to party with people who have high level pets - no not at all. Just do not demand one when partying

At first I set out to do this blog about marginalized sexuality, but then I realized, in a sense, that wasn't being fair. I am interested in sexuality and that includes all sexuality, even the sexuality I do not identify with. This post will about heterosexuality, its invention, the history of it, and a brief definition of it from my favorite site (as you have probably noticed) wikipedia.

Quantitative studies by Alfred Kinsey in the 1940s and Dr. Fritz Klein's sexual orientation grid in the 1980s find distributions similar to those postulated by their predecessors.

Many modern studies, most notably Sexual Behavior in the Human Male by Alfred Kinsey, have found that the majority of humans have had both heterosexual and homosexual experiences or sensations and are bisexual. Contemporary scientific research suggests that the majority of the human population is bisexual, adhering to a fluid sexual scale rather than a category, as Western society typically views sexual nature. However, social pressures influence people to adhere to categories or labels rather than behave in a manner that more closely resembles their nature as suggested by this research.

Kinsey himself, along with current sex therapists, focused on the historicity and fluidity of sexual orientation. Kinsey's studies consistently found sexual orientation to be something that evolves in many directions over a person's lifetime; rarely, but not necessarily, including forming attractions to a new sex. Rarely do individuals radically reorient their sexualities rapidly—and still less do they do so volitionally—but often sexualities expand, shift, and absorb new elements over decades. For example, socially normative "age-appropriate" sexuality requires a shifting object of attraction (especially in the passage through adolescence). Contemporary queer theory, incorporating many ideas from social constructionism, tends to look at sexuality as something that has meaning only within a given historical framework. Sexuality, then, is seen as a participation in a larger social discourse and, though in some sense fluid, not as something strictly determinable by the individual.

Most sexual orientation specialists follow the general conclusion of Alfred Kinsey regarding the sexual continuum, according to which a minority of humans are exclusively heterosexual or homosexual, and that the majority are bisexual. The consensus of psychologists is that sexual orientation, in most individuals, is shaped at an early age and is not voluntarily changeable.

Other studies have disputed Kinsey's methodology. "His figures were undermined when it was revealed that he had disproportionately interviewed homosexuals and prisoners (many sex offenders)."^[7][8] However, Kinsey's idea of a sexuality continuum still enjoys acceptance today and is supported by findings in the human and animal kingdoms, including biological studies of structural brain differences between those belonging to different sexual orientations.

Sexologists have attributed discrepancies in some findings to negative societal attitudes towards a particular sexual orientation. For example, people may state different sexual orientations depending on whether their immediate social environment is public or private. Reluctance to disclose one's actual sexual orientation is often referred to as "being in the closet." Individuals capable of enjoyable sexual relations with both sexes or one sex may feel inclined to restrict themselves to heterosexual or homosexual relations in societies that stigmatize same-sex or opposite-sex relations. In traditional societies, individuals are often under heavy social pressure to marry and have children, irrespective of their desired sexual orientation.

Although the concept of three basic sexual orientations is widely recognized, a small minority maintain that there are other legitimate sexual orientations besides homosexuality, bisexuality and heterosexuality.^{[citation needed]} These may include significant or exclusive orientation towards a particular type of transsexual or transgender individual (e.g. female-to-male transsexual men), intersexed individuals, or those who identify as non-gendered or other-gendered.

Nature versus nurture

The considerable "Nature versus nurture"-debate exists over whether predominantly biological or psychological factors produce sexual orientation in humans. Candidate factors include genes, the exposure of fetuses to certain hormones (or lack thereof) and environmental factors. Historically, Freud and many other psychologists, particularly in psychoanalytic or developmental traditions, speculated that formative childhood experiences helped produce sexual orientation; as an example Freud believed that all human teenagers are predominantly bisexual^{[citation needed]} and transition to heterosexuality in adulthood; those who remain homosexual as adults he believed had experienced some traumatic event that arrested their sexual development; however, he did believe all adults, even those who had no traumatic experience, still retained latent homosexuality to varying degrees.

The APA currently officially states that "some people believe that sexual orientation is innate and fixed; however, sexual orientation develops across a person’s lifetime,"^[9] a radical reversal from the recent past, when non-normative sexuality was considered a deviancy or mental ailment treatable through institutionalization or other radical means.

Critique of studies

The studies performed in order to find the origin of sexual orientation have been criticized for being too limited in scope, mostly for focusing only on heterosexuality and homosexuality as two diametrically opposite poles with no orientation in between.

It is also asserted that scientific studies focus too much on the search for a biological explanation for sexual orientation, and not enough on the combined effects of both biology and psychology.

In a brief put forth by the Council for Responsible Genetics, it was stated that sexual orientation is not fixed either way, and on the discourse over sexual orientation: "Noticeably missing from this debate is the notion, championed by Kinsey, that human sexual expression is as variable among people as many other complex traits. Yet just like intelligence, sexuality is a complex human feature that modern science is attempting to explain with genetics... Rather than determining that this results from purely biological processes, a trait evolves from developmental processes that include both biological and social elements. In addition, scientists rarely take into consideration sexual preferences that are not described by the two poles heterosexual and homosexual 'in hopes of maximizing the chance that they will find something of interest.'"^[10] According to the American Psychological Association (APA), there are numerous theories about the origins of a person's sexual orientation, but some believe that "sexual orientation is most likely the result of a complex interaction of environmental, cognitive and biological factors," and that genetic factors play a "significant role" in determining a person's sexuality.[5]

Religious aspects

Almost all religions believe sex between a man and a women is allowed, but there are a few that believe that it is a sin, such as The Shakers, The Harmony Society, and The Ephrata Cloister. These religions tend to view all sexual relations as sinful, and promote celibacy. Other religions view heterosexuality as being inferior to celibacy, and requires celibacy for certain roles, such as Catholic priests.

Abrahamic religions have several scriptures related to heterosexuality. In Genesis 2:24, which is considered scripture by Abrahamic religions, there is a commandment stating "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh"(Gen 2:24) In 1 Corinthians 11:11, which is considered scripture for Christians, it reads "Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord"(1 Corn 11:11)

Many people interpret this to mean that the heterosexual family is divinely inspired,^[11] and commanded of God.^[12] People in the traditional marriage movement, believe that only unions between one man and one woman should be legally defined as marriages.

For the most part, religious traditions in the world reserve marriage to heterosexual unions, but there are exceptions including Unitarian Universalist, Metropolitan Community Church and some Anglican dioceses and Quaker, United Church of Canada and Reform Jewish congregations.^[13][14]

History of heterosexual symbolism dates back to the earliest artefacts of humanity which included ritual fertility carvings and primitive rock art. The modern symbols of heterosexuality in the societies derived from Europe are still referenced to the symbols used in these ancient beliefs, with the image in this section being a combination of the symbol for Mars as the definitive male stereotype of a warrior, and Venus, the Roman goddess of love.

The term "straight" originated as a mid-20th century gay slang term for heterosexuals, ultimately coming from the phrase "to go straight" (as in "straight and narrow"), or stop engaging in homosexual sex.[3] One of the first uses of the word in this way was in 1941 by author G. W. Henry. Henry's book concerned conversations with homosexual males and used this term in connection with the reference to ex-gays. All of the absurdities are examined, but not the norm. I find it interesting when people further examine this norm and look forward to seeing the examination of it in the future as possibly not being natural because we were never meant to overpopulate the world in the first place. The question is: what now?
