Starting from this semester (January 2008), there are three additional group fitness exercises, body combat, body attack, and body pump, under license of les mills Australia. Les mills is known with their body series, body combat, attack, pump, steps, balance, and jam. Body combat is a cardiovascular exercise combine boxing, karate, and taekwondo, it needs kicking, punching, and jumping. Body combat is good exercise because it works in all part of the body, upper body (punching), and lower body (kicking and jumping). Body attack, it's high impact choreographed exercise that combines high intensity aerobic, strength, and stabilization. Body attack is rapid calorie burner, good for weight loss program. Body pump, is a weight lifting exercise that uses free weight / barbel. The purposes of this exercise is to strengthen the entire body that works with all major muscle groups. The exercise combines squats, presses, lifts and curls.

Those 60 minutes exercises are very good for calories burner, supported by good musics and nice choreography. The drawback of the exercise is, it changing every three months, so, you will repeated exactly the same exercise for three months (unless the instructor combines the movement). How much calories burned during the exercise? for 60 minutes body combat you will burned approximately 600-800 calories depends on the enthusiasm during the class, while body attack burned 700-900 calories, and body pump can burned up to 600 calories depend on age, and barbel weight.

Many people said that attack is massive calorie burner compare to combat and pump, I totally agree, body attack is hard exercise ( I give up at the first 20 minutes) honestly I rarely do attack, just one or two, and I prefer body combat and pump. Combat is fun, pump is great to tone the body without jumping around.

Ja me ollaan toinen toistamme parempia ihmisiä.

Vaikka vaan yhdenkin. Kertokaa se mulle, niin saatte kutsun häihini.

Well, fuckin' a. Duh - I'm a total hard ass.

At Body Pump the other night, a group of giggling girls from a not-so-local high school graced us with their presence. I would say there were a veritable "gaggle" of said girls, all honking in unison at a joke no one else understood cared about.

I got it. Fine. High school girls giggle. In gaggles. It's just how they do. They are harmless enough. I guess it wasn't until the end of the class, the cool down, when I had finally had enough. We were all quiet, stretching, lamenting the pain that were in/going to be in the next day. The sappy cool down music was soothing us as we gently released all of our old-people stress. And there they were. Giggling louder than ever. TheyWouldn'tShutTheFuckUp. My evil glares had gone unnoticed. The mimed gun to my head directed was not attracting nearly the reaction I had hoped. So I snapped.

"How about you just shut up?"

Silence.

AWESOME! POWER! I PWN!

I felt bad for like a millisecond until, that is, I realized how lovely it was to finally be pumping in peace.

In the locker room, my class-partner in crime said to me, "Wow! I didn't know you were such a hard ass, Jane!" My response? "I hated them in high school. I hate them now."

Stupid high school girls. Gah.

Body Pump was kind of awesome last night. I almost wrote “sucked” in stead of “was

Body Pump was kind of awesome last night. I almost wrote "sucked" in stead of "was kind of awesome", but that would have been a squideon of a lie. (Squidegon?!) The substitute instructor was rad. Short and perky. And she counted, which, by the way, is the best quality in a fitness instructor. The ability to fucking count, in order, without getting distracted.

So after body pump, I came home to do some baking. The problem with baking is that you have to do it with a spoon. Ya know, the mixing and scooping, and whatnots. Spoons are the thing you do eating with. So naturally, as the baking goes on, the spoon becomes en-fooded, and then has to be eaten off of. It's just the order of things.

Ugh. So I ate and ate the thing that I was baking in its not-yet-baked form until Jane's tummy hurt. And then, once the thing that I was baking was baked, I had to taste it because it was a new recipe and I would never give an untested recipe to anyone I cared about. Selfless, I tell you. I sacrificed all those hard-earned extra calories for the safety and taste-security of my closest friends.

But here's the best part: Rather than continue to lament the completely wasted Body Pump class, I can now rejoice in my inadvertent celebration of a Inter-National Holiday! Apparently, accoring to FitSugar (with whom I have a love/hate relationship) today is International No Diet Day!

So, I'd like to send a big "Cheers, eh?!" to Canada's National Eating Disorder Information Centre for helping me not feel bad about the million calories I licked off the spoon last night, and encourage everyone to go eat something bad today!

We went to the gym again this weekend. I think that makes twice that we've been in April, so for anyone out there who was looking for a role model or motivational buddy -- I'm not it.

But I have to ask why the exercise classes are all in the morning. On a weekend. Honestly, wouldn't turnout be better if you had it at, say, 4 PM on a Sunday? It gives people a chance to snooze a little, laze about the house, and then maybe bolster up the courage to head to a gym where they can gather in a small darkened room and leap about swinging big weighted sticks at each other.

I am, not surprisingly, in great pain today, and I blame at least half of that on the fact that these classes are at a simply unholy hour on a weekend morning. I blame the other half on the fact that they had one light on in the whole room during this particular class, so I was straining to see my hand in front of my face, let alone the ass of the person in front of me that I was trying to avoid parking my foot in during one of the particularly active leg exercises.

I have to believe that, in a few hundred years, achaeologists or anthorpologists or anybody who actually gives a rat's ass about what we happened to do in our spare time in this day and age will look at this particular ritual in much the same way we currently regard the worship of cats. Fascinating, but hard to fathom in one's daily life.

Se você fez Abdominoplastia

Aeroboxe

I'm loving it!

My mom's in town. Staying with me. She is, um, a neurotic woman. And she's a morning person. I, however, am not.

So this morning while I was busy avoiding her, I packed my gym clothes and left them by the door, ready to grab-and-go as I left for work. I was a little frazzled by the pre-8am inquisition.

I headed to work and spent the day frazzled by a completely mindless project that I managed to botch terribly. Because I'm awesome like that.

I came home for lunch and had yet another long discussion with my mother about stuff that I didn't want to talk about, then back to work for more fixing-the-thing-I-screwed-up. This fixorating kept me at work late, and I ran out the door to the gym in an attempt to make my 7:00pm Body Pump class. I was focused acutely on the task of getting to the gym, finding parking, changing, and getting in line -- prepared to elbow the other bitches out of the way. (The front right corner is mine. I make a reservation every week. Get in fucking line.)

So I arrive at the gym and find my body-pumping-coworker in the locker room. We exchange pleasantries and started changing into our hottest workout gear. I threw my bag into the locker and put the lock on.

Problem.

No shoes.

WHAT THE FUCK! I left my fucking shoes at home. But I do not miss Body Pump. So after confirming that I am an idiot, I start asking around. Shockingly enough, no one had a spare size 10 pair of shoes.

So what do I do? Hmm? I fucking do Body Pump barefoot. It was actually an interesting experience. I won't go into the "wow, I felt so grounded" stuff. It was just a completely different feeling. My balance was different. My toes were digging harder. I was a barefooted, hippie, weightlifting machine.

Oh, and a complete idiot. I blame my mom because it's what I do. If she wasn't pestering me all morning, I wouldn't have forgotten my shoes, right?

Yeah - probably not. Just an idiot.

Weather report for my run this morning... surprise surprise, wet and windy! And how was the rest of the day? Sunny and dry... welcome to my world!

I was supposed to run last night but I couldn't face it. I really feel like last weekends efforts have knocked me for six (does that saying originate from cricket?) and I'm struggling to recover. I've eaten loads, but have lost weight, and I'm not getting enough sleep. Largely as (and this is a good thing) I've been really busy with work this week. So when I arrived at the gym last night I was shattered. There were Ranger's fans everywhere, which also put me off. I'm not as tough as Debs who runs down Paisley Road West on a European night and picks fights by knocking mobile phones out of peoples hands!

So, I opted to do Body Pump instead. I kept my weights high, even increasing them for the squat track, and worked really hard. I felt so much better afterwards, that I almost went for a run. In the end I saw sense and decided to leave it till this morning. I think half my problem this week is the taper phase of my training. It leaves me so lethargic, we all know that I don't do rest days!

So I dragged my tired backside out of bed this morning, grabbed a quick bite, and headed out. As always, I had the worst of the day! I was keen to try and make this a quality speed session but I struggled throughout. I know my legs are still tired, but I also know I'm not good early doors without having had much breakfast. So I struggled. I actually felt OK on my warm up mile, but once I started trying to pick the pace up I was tiring early, and you can see from my splits, I really wasn't on great form (that's why I've put my splits on here. They show how badly I started, and should remind me to just have a lie-in next time!). Once the hills were out of the way, and I'd woken up, I started to improve. The last three splits are much more like it. I miscounted, at the end and attempted to do a ninth split, running as fast as I could for going on a minute before I realised my GPS was on cool-down mode. It was going to be the best split of all time too?!?!?

Still session over, I'm pleased it's done. Taper time is the time to reduce training quantity, but not quality, i.e. not an excuse to totally slack off! I'm still concerned about London. I now have just over a week to get myself feeling fresh. I'm due a ten mile run at race pace on Saturday or Sunday, so we'll see how that goes. I'm hoping to catch up on some sleep over the next couple of days. I might even try and lie-in past 07:30! Let's just hope it's a quiet one for our new noisy neighbors this weekend!

According to Pete Tong on the radio next to me, 'the weekend has landed'. Where has it been? On holiday? To the moon? I'm just not down with this, clubbin', dance, electro, hardhouse, drum 'n' bass, gangsta, hardcore speak that the kids use these days. So, I'll translate it to the best of my abilities as, 'happy weekend folks!'

Yesterday I made my first visit to the gym in over 5 months. In that time I've done very little in terms of exercise and could honestly say I've kind of let myself go over the xmas period, so I was determinded to get back to the 3 times a week workouts and put some beef back on these bones!

The long term goal is for our wedding next year. Its definately going to be somewhere hot, so no doubt it will be tops off and all that, so just for my wedding (and not because im a hot head or in any way vain) I'm going to put some effort into getting into shape.So.. I decided for my first visit that there would be no better way to get involved than to go to one of those classes. The gym has a 'body pump' class and so without knowing a thing about it, I went full of determination and dedication. It was kind of weird and quite different from any other gym stuff Ive done, the class had to set up a stepping bench and have a range of free weights ready, then when the instructor fixed his microphone, pressed play and out comes all this 'eye of the tiger' style music, the body pump started! It was obvious it was my first time there as when the instructor shouted "combo" I was the only person who didnt start lifting weights up, down, up, down etc.. by the time I had the hang of any combo moves I was in desperation of water (which I hadnt brought with me) and without a towel to wipe clean the gallons of sweat pouring from my forehead, I couldn't see a damn thing.

We worked every major body muscle and today I have been walking around like I've shat myself. My arse muscles are incredibly sensitive and my pecks feel like they been burnt. Still I feel better for it and am actually looking forward to the next one.

Went to the Man City v Wigan game today and had a meal in the mancunian lounge. Game finished 0-0.

I just came back from City Mall, Lintas with a white envelope & a receipt of a down-payment of a year of membership in Y-fitness. I can't wait for Fitness First to open its outlet in KK anymore. sigh. A friendly fitness consultant guy gave me & Jessie a tour around the fitness centre & I got 2 reaction: sigh & OK lah.

Ha.ha. Alrite I can't compare it with the fitness centre I have been to in KL. I was a member of this Lifestyle fitness & spa in Bangsar & a Sweat Club in Mid Valley (as now known as California Fitness). In 2006, Sweat Club was the BIGGEST fitness centre in Klang Valley. Shoot! SO many celebrity went there to work-out. Trust me! I was in d treadmill next to one local celeb (sorry that I can't recall the celeb name as I'm not his avid fan, LOL). But yeah, he look hawt! :)

California Fitness too has its own sauna, BIG locker room & a 5-star shower room. They even provide cotton bud for you! LOL. The only fitness centre with a jacuzzi, swimming pool & a basketball court! THERE! Not to forget, my personal trainer was DROP DEAD GORGEOUS. I keep on flirting with him. HA.HA.

Let me list down my findings after the 15 minutes tour to the Y just now. OK, now lets just called d fitness centre as Y. Lounge & interior design is NOT impressive, lighting is too dim, a lil' bit cramped up around the weight-area & most of the people hang out/work out there would be men (Hey, I care more on the weight than cardio; so most probably I'll spend time in the weight area); no free towel service; need to bring own lock for the locker; shower hall a lil bit cramped up too; Only 5 fitness trainer so far; NO free goodies/voucher from another outlet (I think they should give discount to the member in San Francisco Coffee since the outlet is just next to the Y).

OK, on the bright side; I get a comparable package price as in fitness centre in KL; the treadmill looks IMPRESSIVE with a huge screen ( I think you can play something there, haha); classes (yoga, pilates & those bodypump, RPM, Latin dance) is included IN the membership; I get free consultation/orientation to all equipments; and so on. (I'll add later when I recall back what I've observed).

Despite the comparable advantages & disadvantages; I did sign up for the membership. Before becoming official member, the consultant gave me & Jessie a free 1-day trial. I will drag her to come with me to try out everything there. We shouldn't waste that trial pass as it worth RM68 each and we got 4! :)

I can't wait to go to the centre to try out things :) Ah how I wish I can get a cute trainer here in KK. ROFL.

Now i gotta recall my fitness regime/schedule. My previous trainer did plan out things for me. It was like a 15-minutes warm-up on the cardio (either treadmill or the glider-thingy), then followed by a stretching in the bicycle-like machine. After a 5 minutes of stretching then I shall start with the weight-machines; leg, lower-back, back, torso, bicep, tricep & ended with a I-dunno-what-else. Then in between the muscle strengthening exercise I can go for another cardio & ended with a cardio too.

OK i gotta go bathe now! :)

Wow! BodyPump is awesome! I have been in a bit of a lull recently and found it hard to shift the weight. After yesterdays BodyPump class I am down 0.3kgs today. I have lost 0.3kgs in a day recently, but last night I was out for dinner and I had french fries with my dinner. Normally when I do this I either remain static or put on weight. Amazingly, today I am down 0.3kgs!

I can only put it down to BodyPump. I would love to do another class today, but I have been told that you should have at least one rest day between BodyPump classes to allow your musclses to recover. Tomorrow I will definitely do another BodyPump class.

I can feel a few aches and pains today too, especially in my quads and shoulders. But I suppose, "no pain, no gain!".

Today I am out with a customer for lunch, so I have to be good. I have 13 more weigh ins, and I want to lose at least 1.9kgs to get to my secondary target. That will leave me 2.5kgs away from my original target, on the right road to hit my target and very happy!

Wow, I am exhausted. I haven't done BodyPump for about six months, but it was incredible. I am exhausted! The heaviest I lifted was 12kgs, but even still I am worn out.

When I used to do BodyPump regularly I would be lifting 25kgs for some of the tracks, but today 12kgs and I was done!

BodyPump is awesome. According to their site you can burn upto 600 calories in a single class. I don't know how many calories I burned in the class, but it was a lot. I am much more tired than I would be after going for a walk.

I have an addiction to black coffee lately. I’ve cut my caffeine intake for a good 1 year and

I have an addiction to black coffee lately. I've cut my caffeine intake for a good 1 year and that was due to my acute migraine. Not that I'm off-migraine now but apparently the urge rules. I'm not sure when was the addiction started but I would like to believe it has started right after Christmas. I've started to stock up coffee powder again; from different types of bean. Not sure when will this last. I hope this urge is just a temporary thing.

Okay, remember the post about an ugly lower back pain I had when I do Pump? Yes? No? Whatever. Some nice people out there have given me some good tips on the correct techniques for such class, which I've tried out and it worked. Some may think it is because of the shoe I'm wearing. It has to have a good support on it, so I was advised. I'm usually settled with Nike Free for all classes because for me, it works best for BC and BJam; the classes I attend the most. But, in an attempt to not ditching and ignoring friends' advices (because I'm a stubborn sweet lady), I've changed to Air Max and sometimes Shox for such class. True enough, it didn't give me any pain on the affected area during Pump class. So I guess, I'm fine with the idea of settling with another shoe bag for my daily excess baggage. I'm not complaining.

Alas, the pain went on strike again that day, and I didn't have any choice but to leave the studio in the middle of T2. It was so frustrating. Something wrong with my posture and I don't know what is it. I really don't know. Do I need to work out more on my lower body part? Maybe I need to straighten up my spine (is there such thing?). How? Yoga? Pilates? Ohh, I don't have such flexibility. Maybe I need to do more crunches just to strengthen my center area. Really? Maybe I need to zip up my core more. But how? I've done that and I've no more room to zip.

How?

My New Year's Resolution is to treat my body better by establishing a regular work out routine and sticking with it. My goal is to get to 125# by my 39th birthday.

When Scott and I moved to Belarus we joined a local gym. Of course Scott has been going on a regular basis and I have not. In fact, I have gone twice; once for a massage back in October and once yesterday.

I met a couple of girls (women) at a party of Friday night who attend the same gym we joined. They talked me in to attending this class called "Pump It Up"....yeah I know. I'm sure it is the same as "Body Pump" which is offered in the states. I accepted the invitation. The class lasted an hour, it was hard and made me work up a sweat. I really enjoyed it, my body on the other hand is really hating me today. I should have known to take it easy my first time back. I also should have known from watching several friends back in the states attempt to walk and do basic ADL's (activities of daily living) following these classes. Needless to say, "Pump It Up" was a true experience, not only was it in Russian, (thank goodness I know my numbers) but it really made me realize just how out of shape I am.

The funny thing is that at another party last night (tis the season) I met another woman who attends this gym on a regular basis. She invited me to attend "Sculpt" and "For Men Only"...."Sculpt" maybe, "For Men Only", maybe in 6 months when I've toned up a bit. I don't want to kill myself right away. I think some water aerobics and "Pump It Up" will be good for now. There were two instructors a male and a female. I've never seen so many muscles on such a small woman in all my life. She was muscle and bone, that was it. I don't need to look like that, muscle, bone and average body fat would be great.

The women in this country are all in really good shape (for the most part). They walk EVERYWHERE and they really watch what they eat. They are true role models for portion control.

Speaking of food, Scott and I are off to the grocery store. We're having cabbage rolls and mashed potatoes for dinner. One of my Belarussian favorites!

In an attempt to combat my pudginess and at the same time to accompany Cres in her mission to slash down the unwanted meat, so that she will look wonderful for her bridal photo next year, we went to BC and Pump last night in MM. It was more than 1 year since my last Pump class and last night was a disaster.

Purposedly left office early so that I could catch Swee's classes, alas someone else replaced her for BC and Pump. Since the real intention was to flatten those bulges *giggles*, so I was fine with the replacement instructors. I like the track selection for BC, except T4 (BC31). I thought he wanted to play T4 of BC33 as I heard he played that song. The class was packed so he changed to BC31's instead. Obvious mistakes in T1 and T2 but couldn't say much about that. After all it was a group exercise class, wrong chorey can be considered as exercise too, no? Heehee. We did the Fergie for T9. I love that !

Actually before the class started, I glanced at the schedule board out side the studio and I saw Jackson's name for Pump. I thought that was the same Jackson who teaches BJam, BA and BS, but then again he is in FF Hong Kong (I think) now. I tried to map which Jackson till I saw another Jackson walked in the class. Ahhh, I know him. We used to go BC and Pump together those days. He did a pretty well done job. Instruction was clear and he gave a lot of safety reminders. Song selection was nice, those that I'm very familiar with when I was a Pump junky those days. Brilliant choice for the cool down. Love that.

Totally forgotten on the little detail; that I didn't do Pump for more than 1 year already, I chose to go with my usual weights. Bad choice. After chest track, then only I noticed that Cres halved her usual weights. I didn't do them clean and press properly due to the shakiness. A girl next to me giggled when she saw my arm shaken during triceps and push up track. Heehee. Yea, it was a funny view indeed. I could barely lift the 2.5kg plates when we did the raise, but I couldn't use them donuts in exchange, right? Funny. Side and front raise was my favourite moves those days because they look cool. Me and Cres giggled all the way, but nope we didn't disturb the class in case you think we did. I couldn't really concentrate because everything seemed tough, though actually it wasn't a tough class. Yea, I blamed my long idle. Nonetheless, it was a good work out. Will give it another try tomorrow, see if I can lift them plates better tomorrow.

Sore.
