Sammy Hagar is the first signing to new Roadrunner imprint Loud & Proud, which will focus on established artists. His label debut, "Cosmic Universal Fashion," will arrive Nov. 18.

The album's title track was written online by Hagar with an Iraqi rock fan named Steven Lost. The cut and its accompanying video, an homage to Van Halen's text-heavy 1992 clip for "Right Now," can be samples on Hagar's Web site.

"'Cosmic Universal Fashion' is not about supporting left or right, blue or red, but rather an attempt to appeal to people on a personal level to get involved," says Hagar.

The album also includes the song "Loud," featuring the Cult's Billy Duffy and Matt Sorum along with former Van Halen bassist Michael Anthony, and a cover of the Beastie Boys' "Fight for Your Right To Party."

Hagar was most recently signed to Rhino, which issued his 2006 album "Livin' It Up." The set has sold 52,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

E, apesar de toda a minha ironia, é claro que vou escrever a tal listinha - afinal, vocês acreditam mesmo que essa história de um post por mês é excesso de trabalho? Que nada, é falta de assunto mesmo!

Masssss dizer as coisas que gostaria de fazer antes de morrer é algo muito sem-graça para este blog, a minha lista vai ser um pouco diferente: quais as 8 fantasias sexuais que gostaria de realizar antes de morrer!!!

1 - Fazer Sexo.

Pois é, gente, 'tá difícil. Pelo menos sem apelar. Mas tenho fé que ainda dou antes de morrer (por favor, Deus, não me mate antes de eu dar pra alguém! Amém!).

2 - Dar pro Billy Duffy.

Sei que atualmente ele parece mais um maracujá murcho, mas o guitarrista do The Cult foi A minha paixão de adolescência. Porém, quanto mais os anos passam, maiores as chances de ele precisar de Viagra...

3 - Fazer sexo 'na marra'.

Gente, isso aqui é uma brincadeirinha para fazer com o namorado/ficante/amigo colorido. Um joguinho de cena, por assim dizer. Me fazer de difícil e fingir que não quero para o amante do momento e ele tentar conseguir o que é dele à força. Não estou dizendo que quero ser estuprada - se algum idiota tentar, corre grandes chances de ficar sem pinto! =P

4 - Transar com uma mulher.

Vejam bem: uma mulher - e não uma mulher e um homem. E quando digo mulher, não estou incluindo sapatas no estilo 'irmão caminhoneiro shell' com cabelo cortado em um mullet sertanejo e com tatuagem à caneta no ombro esquerdo. Ah, sim, também não quero me relacionar com uma mulher - mulheres são chatas e têm tpm. Precisa de muita testosterona pra agüentar! =P

5 - Sexo na escadaria de um prédio.

É simples, mas eu nunca fiz. Sério (ah, e por que vocês não acreditariam nisso? Nem sexo normal eu faço!).

6 - Fazer sexo oral com halls preto.

E olhar bem pra expressão do cara no momento. Rapazes, as caras e bocas que vocês fazem nessa hora... :D

7 - Dar prum professor fofo meu.

Gente, não é o mesmo cara. Este é outro, ok? E não, não tenho tara por professor. Mas tenho tara por homem inteligente... Anyway, este professor me lembra o McGee, personagem da telessérie americana NCIS (embora não se pareça muito com ele) - e eu tenho uma certa queda por personagens nerds fofos...

Mudei de idéia. Mas ainda não sei o que pôr aqui. Ou melhor: sei, sim, mas não estou muito afim de mudar posts velhos.

8 - Bem... ahn...

Ok, tem uma fantasia que não listei aqui. Mas não sei se quero realizá-la. Gosto mais é de pensar nisso quando me masturbo, por exemplo, mas não acho que é uma coisa que vou fazer algum dia... E não, não vou falar o que é... Mas vocês podem tentar adivinhar nos comentários!

E, bem, é isso. Não vou passar o meme pra ninguém, mas quem quiser fazer, sinta-se à vontade!

E antes que alguém decida se candidatar a alguma coisa: sou feia, dispendiosa e mal-humorada! =P

The Cult are trekking thru Europe for the next week before heading back to play Canada.  (They'll play a few dates in the States as well.)  The Guardian posted a review of their show at the London Forum this week.  I've seen them enough to read between the lines of a review - I take them with a grain of salt.  As Ian's said time and time again "you get us or you don't." 

But I smiled a couple times reading this particular interview and decided to post about it.  The reviewer starts out talking about their history and how the guys have held up pretty well.  Quote: "Duffy retains the rugged charm of a heavy metal Sean Bean"  - too funny. 

He also calls them "rock's odd couple" and mentions Duffy's mild reaction when Astbury tries to rile up the crowd.  Umm.  Yeah, I've seen that look a few times before!  Though they have slid down my list of favorite bands (still in 2nd place) I'll continue to go to their shows as long as they keep playing.  One of these days maybe Ian will dust off "Big Neon Glitter" for me.

Oh and one last thing - people have been talking about that guy on American Idol, Michael Johns...I swear he could be Ian's nephew.  Take the stubble off of the pic above, make him about 15 years younger and *poof*!   People were comparing him to Michael Hutchence, but I think he's closer to Ian.  Vocally he might be closer to Hutchence.  I guess time will tell.

Here's a youtube clip from the London show earlier this week.  And guess what?  It starts out with one of Ian's mini-sermons (something about not letting people count you out)!  Side note:  One of my fav IA tirades was at Reading fest (2000 or 2001) and he was just pacing back and forth.  He said "All the crap they've written about me.  That I'm mental...it's all f'ing true!" 

Ha, ha!!  I don't know whether to give him the devil horns or just a big hug!  :-)

Op de deur van mijn studentenkamer hang een poster van Billy Duffy die, als een eigentijdse Keith Moon, z'n gitaar een zwengel geeft. Welkom in het einde van jaren tachtig. Hardrock is op z'n retour. Grunge zal het genre uiteindelijk de nekslag geven. Zover is het nog niet. The Cult maakt met Sonic Temple het album waarmee de Britse band rond zanger Ian Ashbury en gitarist Billy Duffy doorbreekt op het Europese vasteland. Goed album, erg goed zelfs. Maar The Cult is over z'n hoogtepunt heen.

De geschiedenis van de band is aardig gedocumenteerd door All Music. De essentie ontbreekt er echter. Iets meer informatie is te vinden op de wiki-pagina van de band. Waar ik op doel? De befaamde Manor Sessions die uiteindelijk leiden tot Electric, één van de beste ongecompliceerde rockalbums ooit. Al tijdens de opnamen is er gedonder. Ashbury en Duffy hebben het niet meer zo op de new wave-sound van producer Steve Brown. Waarom ze de goede man hebben gevraagd is een raadsel. Hij staat immers garant voor de productie van Love. En das toch het waverock-album bij uitstek. Ook goede plaat, overigens.

Uiteindelijk produceert Rick Rubin Electric. De opnamen van Brown - werktitel: Peace - komen pas op de Rare Cult-box uit 2000 te staan. Wie Electric naast Peace legt, weet meteen wat Ashbury en Duffy destijds in '86 bedoelden. Electric is een proto-rockalbum dat de beste grooves uit de popgeschiedenis bij elkaar brengt. Op de werkelijk waardeloze cover van Steppenwolfs Born To Be Wild na, overigens.

Alles klopt aan Electric. De stoer, simpele gitaarriffs die de nummers dragen, de eveneens oersimpele maar effectieve baslijnen en de geweldige zang van Ashbury. Natuurlijk, in tegenstelling tot Love heeft Electric helemaal niets vernieuwends. De plaat is een lofzang van twee kanten op eenvoud, rockclichés en de kracht van het verleden. Waarom moeilijk doen als het makkelijk kan? Mooiste moment van het album? Zonder twijfel het gitaarriff van King Contrary Man. Is er zo eentje als dat van Back in Black van AC/DC. Pure magie.

Daarna gaat het mis. Ashbury hervindt zijn Indiaanse roots en ontslaat de halve band. Sonic Temple is een goed, maar ook wat laf album. Het toont een emotionele Ashbury die vol overgave over revolutie zingt of onder begeleiding van heuse strijkers zijn liefde betuigt voor een mooi meisje dat Edie heet. Dat is godverdomme niet de stoere rockster die als een wolf naar de wilde, paaldansende vrouw van zijn lusten huilt. Maar die poster van Sonic Temple? Dat is en blijft pure magie.

Goed, om het af te leren onder elkaar: Wild Flower (dat riff, godverdomme zeg...), Edie, Ciao Baby (Ashbury als emotioneel wrak, maar wat een geweldige solo) en Rain (een oudje van Love, ook geweldig overigens met ook een beetje jankerige Ashbury).

Junior rejoices in the power of the ‘Start Me Up’ riff. Propped up by a couple of cushions, she rocks out, claps her hands, grins and shakes her stuff. Loud guitars are a new thing for her but, as she indicated with ZZ Top, she’s ready to embrace the rawk.

The single sleeve claims that ‘Love Removal Machine’ will make you "boogie ‘til you blow chunks".

The mind boggles.
