Listening to music is one of our favorite ways to pass the time right? Who are your favorite artists

Listening to music is one of our favorite ways to pass the time right? Who are your favorite artists? Personally, my preference in music is eclectic. But artist whose songs I love a lot is Seal. When I heard the song he made for the film Batman Forever in 1995, I immediately loved it. From then on I kept track of the songs he made. He has this very powerful voice that earned him hit after hit in the charts. He’s one of the lucky ones who are so blessed. He has a very lovely wife, Heidi Klum, with whom he has two beautiful children. They really are living the great life that came from sheer hard work. They don’t have to worry about anything and they can have almost anything they want. Seal is ever so lucky that he even owns a Gold Bentley Azure convertible! It’s an awesome-looking ride that costs $370,000!

Wow, don’t you just wish you can get to ride one too? Maybe if you ask Seal kindly he’ll take you for a spin! Yeah, like in your dreams maybe. The Gold Bentley Azure is a big car, just right for a big man like Seal. By its appearance, the Azure is a luxurious vehicle with lots of space inside. I expect there’s lots of leg room in there where Heidi and kids can stretch your legs in. Getting the top up or down can be done in merely 30 seconds. With just a simple touch of a button the hydraulic, three-layer, insulated fabric top can be operated already.

For its specs, the Bentley Azure is equipped with 6.8-liter V8 engine. This engine is capable of producing 450 horsepower and 645 ft-lbs of torque. The only drawback that experts see in this car is that it only gets 9mpg.

Bentley University has an awfully nice ring to it. Last week the Commonwealth of Massachusetts awarded Bentley the official status of university.

Bentley was founded in 1917 and for most of it's history it has been known as an "accountant's school." Bentley still has a very strong accounting program, however, it has also been expanding and upgrading it's undergraduate offerings and has introduced new graduate programs. Today Bentley University offers two Ph.D. programs, an undergraduate program combining business with the liberal arts.

Bentley has also expanded it's facilities to include a new library and high tech labs for marketing research, design and usability and the trading room in the Hughey Center for Financial Services. These advancements have spawned a wave of interdiscplinary research by Bentley's faculty. These facilities have also attracted companies onto the Bentley campus to conduct meaningful work that integrates company, faculty and students. I have been part of several projects at Bentley that have combined real world research along with teaching experiences. Bentley is equipped to work with world class companies and young venture backed startups.

The strategic plan that has enabled these developments is rooted in the vision of it's former President Joseph Morone and it's Board of Trustees. New President Gloria Cordes Larson has come to Bentley with great energy and expanded vision to take Bentley to the next level on the global stage.

Bentley University is a very big accomplishment for all those who have been involved with this growing story and I am confident that this will enable future expansion and acclaim for this emerging giant.

Watching an old episode of Top Gear the other night, when the boys mentioned their Ultimate 10 Car Garage and what they would have in it. This got me to thinking, of course, what would I have in mine?

So, here is my list as it stands at the moment, in no particular order and with explanations as to why:

Lamborghini Countach: Last of the truly mad supercars that reached their zenith in the late 80's, in my opinion. The Lambo was my poster child, it represented all that was hot and excessive in the automotive world.

Aston Martin DB9: The car I covet the most - sleek, purposeful styling matched with performance and driveability (apparently) ... and dead sexy to boot.

Aston Martin DB5 Convertible: Best of British 60s convertibles and the sweetest version of one of the most beautifully designed cars.

A fully configured Landrover Defender 130: I love my photography and I love to get away from the madding crowd ... and what better way to get away from things than in one of the most capable 4WDs ever produced. Sure it isn't the most eco-friendly of vehicles, but in vinyl trim and with a diesel motor it is one of the most robust and rugged go-anywhere vehicles I know of.

1989 Porsche 911 (930): Last of the hero 911's IMHO ... big, brash and beautiful in all its full-on, turbo'd whale-tailed glory!

1989 BMW 635 CSi: Getting the vibe that the 80's was inspirationall for me? Anyhoo, this was one of those cars that just got things right - great engine, great styling and great presence.

Bentley Continental GT: Well I need a round-town car don't I?

Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale: Sex on four wheels - a truly beautiful car with looks that would not be out of place today. Looks good from every angle, was a street version of a racing car (instead of the other way aroud) and has a rarity value through the roof!

Koenigsegg CCR: Ever since being overtaken by one in the UK while on holiday, I have been fascinated by these cars ... now I just want one.

(Best for last) Ferrari 250 GT Spider Californian: It's my favourite Ferrari ... go on, look at it - no more need be said.

Reality is that I would have a huge collection ... or at least one that would have a high rotation value as there are so many great vehicles out there. But this list would be a nice start :)

The R&B swag always gets the females open... and if the females are open then its a plus plus for the dudes (smell me)... add that with another mixtape anthem for the streets... meaning more shit to bump in the whip (to get the females open).."

In an attempt to remind everyone how broke we really are. Here is the Bentley laptop, its been around since 03' but they just gave it a face lift. It's obviously super limited and can be customized to match the same leather pattern from your Bentley. Oh and its only going to cost you $20,000, the laptop its self isn't anything special either. It runs Vista. Cough. So if your looking for a $20,000 blue screen of death...this is your item!

Emily and I have made posts previously concerning Todd Bentley and the Florida outpouring. We were like many who were cautiously excited and were very pleased that so many were touched by the Lord during that time. We were of course very saddened when Todd said that he had filed for divorce from his wife.

How can this happen? Well it happens over and over again each time we allow our flesh to take the place of the pursuit of the Holy in our lives. I don’ t think the problem is as much with Todd as it is with the person in the mirror. You and I must choose to live righteously before the Lord and not compromise the Truth. Over time as we, Christians, have allowed compromise to sneak in and allow us to use our culture and consensus to determine what is right and true. The Word of God, the Bible, must be our compass and not our Christian or secular culture.

It has become too easy for us to pick and choose what we want to from the bible. We need to take a personal stand and be lovers of the Truth. We must not use the consensus of Christians around us as to what the right thing is.

Being a very strong advocate for marriage, especially concerning the personal struggles I’ve had, I am extremely grateful for the movie Fireproof. Though I have not seen the movie it is about time we as believers say it is not right that we allow ourselves to be swayed by even our Christian culture and say that divorce is not an option any more than abortion, pornagraphy or extramarital affairs are.

Below is an email from Rory & Wendy from God.tv sharing their perspective on the Florida Outpouring and I appreciated what they had to say. Remember that God uses weak and broken people as his vessel. Avoid judging His messengers because you too will stand in front of The Judge (Jesus) one day and have to give account for your wrong doing…. David

Beloved GOD TV viewer,

In the light of many statements having been released about the LAKELAND OUTPOURING and concerning Todd Bentley’s marital situation, we sensed that the Lord has released us to write concerning this situation, so that you, our viewers would know our heart concerning this matter.

The first thing we feel led to do is to state unequivocally that in the same manner as the Lord instructed us to broadcast and serve TheCall gatherings with Lou Engle; to broadcast what was happening at the International House of Prayer with Mike Bickle; Rick Joyner and MorningStar; the Solemn assembly in San Francisco; BattleCry and Teen Mania with Ron Luce; Focus on the Family’s prayer event for America; the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem; and hundreds of other anointed events over the past three years, we believe that the Lord instructed us to broadcast the Outpouring services at Lakeland with Todd Bentley.

It was not a mistake.

It was not by mistake.

We believe it was a clear instruction from the Lord.

Over the past twelve years, but especially since our launch in America, we have in obedience to the Lord searched through the earth for those events and anointings that the Lord has laid on our hearts – to amplify their message and anointing to the Body of Christ in this crucial endtime hour that we live in.

The Lakeland Outpouring with Todd Bentley was one of those events. We received over 45 000 e-mails many, many of these heart rending, powerful testimonies from viewers across the earth of their bodies or their families bodies healed, their lives transformed and their hearts revived.

None of us have ever seen such significant fruit in all the years of broadcast.

Far more profound than that were the desperate cries for help. I (Wendy), would go through the live inbox and see the desperate cries from mothers, wives, sons and daughters, so many with TERMINALLY ILL husbands, wives, children, sometimes babies in arms – sensing HOPE in their situation that for so long had been without hope.

Just reading these prayer requests would bring one to tears –

We are often so cloistered from the agony of peoples day by day real life agonies - and their agonies were written there.

So much so - that we both sensed that would need the word of the Lord under the fear of God to stop these broadcasts with the life changing impact they were having in homes not only in the UK and America but all across the world. And the Glory of the Living God that was being imparted.

We both kept a very close pulse on the revival since the start of its broadcast - we had first hand knowledge of the enormous criticism, persecution and reviling that Todd Bentley was receiving (often we were second contenders for it) but it was Todd Bentley and the Fresh Fire team who received the terrible weight of this.

Todd ministered each day as the revival continued but was consistently and unrelentingly criticized, maligned, persecuted - the attacks grew increasingly violent - and the heartbreaking thing was that so much of it came from the Church.

At the same time, Todd was facing a second wave of attack. This was from the covens, the warlocks - we heard firsthand concerning some of these assignments. The enemy had heard of the great honoring of the Lamb and was determined to destroy it - BY ANY MEANS POSSIBLE AND AT ANY COST.

And the cost was Todd Bentley.

Was it because Todd was vulnerable and certain areas of his life were not surrendered wholly? Yes – like so many of us - in all probability.

Was it because the character of Christ was not yet formed in him in the equivalent measure to his gifting? Yes - like so many of us - in all probability.

Could it be the case that there by the grace of God go YOU AND I… Yes - In all probability.

Some of the areas in our lives are watertight and have been honed and refined and polished by the Lord while still other areas in our lives are often still in desperate need of attention. We are an ongoing work and we work out our salvation with fear and trembling.

Well - all ministers who preach should ensure their lives are in order, you may be saying.

Yes - we and our board and our minister peers across the globe agree wholeheartedly.

And yet, beloved - unfortunately, THERE ARE TIMES when satan comes unawares and targets a vulnerable area whose weaknesses only become apparent under the most enormous and unrelenting pressure brought to bear.

We believe and of course this is just our personal opinion, that the revival stirred up the satanic realms in a manner that has rarely been seen and with a violent wrath.

It is difficult to understand the degree of spiritual battle that comes against a leader. We have learned we need to protect the move of God with greater prayer for leaders, including ourselves. The body of Christ is growing in greater transparency and accountability, and this too should be a subject of prayer.

Should all of us wait till we are as perfect and as watertight as can be and mature in every area - that of course, would be the safest course of action, but the truth is that most of us would be 90 years old!

The Lord who made us and knows that we are as dust and yet looks on us with His great mercies and compassions knows this and He the sovereign God of heaven and earth still chooses to take a GOD-risk on you and I every day of our lives.

That even under the most intense pressure that we would choose HIM.

That we would love HIM.

That in times of intense duress and temptation that we would follow HIM.

And let it be so - even more in all our lives, but beloved - let us not forget so many of those who walk in ministry across the earth today with such COURAGE and FERVOR and lay their lives down for HIS CAUSE at great cost to themselves - Todd and Shonnah sowed their lives to sow the seeds of revival and we believe became a supreme target of the enemy.

On the June 23rd, Todd actually spoke openly and with great vulnerability of his and Shonnah’s previous marriage challenges and how they had faced those challenges and the Lord had begun His work. He did not try to hide their struggle but shared their ongoing journey.

As Rick Joyner so wisely put it –

"In marriage, I have learned there are those who admit they have been through times when they wondered if their marriage would make it, and then there are liars. Relationships are hard, and the closer they are, the harder they can be. I tell everyone that I give premarital counseling to that the Lord has ordained their marriage in order to kill both of them! That is true. It is also worth it! The greatest gift He gave to man was marriage and family. However, to have a marriage that is good, both will have to die to themselves. If either one does not make the commitment to lay down their life for their mate and their family, then what was meant to be heaven can be hell."

It is an ongoing walk - and we all are ongoing works. But the Lord said something to us some years ago - He said - When you hate sin because it HURTS ME - then it will lose its grip on you. When you hate sin because it displeases ME - its hold diminishes.

The Lord also shared with us that someone can be deceived in an AREA of sin but it does not necessarily mean that in every area of his or her life or ministry, they were walking in deception as some critics of the revival may lean to believe.

And who is to judge that the Lord does not hold the violent unleashing of criticism and faultfinding and tearing down and divisiveness of the heresy hunters, as severe a sin as separation in a marriage?

We will find out before the judgement seat in eternity.

One of our greatest grievings has been to see how many in the church backtracked to protect their own reputations. We have been truly refreshed by several close ministry friends with their uncompromising love of truth and lack of a man pleasing spirit that has arisen in the church in the light of the Lakeland aftermath. They have given us fresh courage when we grew weary.

So beloved friend –

Do we at GOD TV refute the Outpouring? NO.

We are presently planning to broadcast other offshoots of Lakeland in both the United Kingdom and America, including revival meetings in Dudley, England.

We have determined in our hearts to follow the Lord with all our might as courageously and as boldly as we can, to reject the pressures to bow to a man pleasing spirit but instead to humble ourselves under the Fathers leading.

For HE is our all in all.

He is our great desire.

Finally, dear friends, while we defend and rejoice in the many ten thousands that God lifted and healed, we also know that there were dear souls, sheep, who were scattered as a result of Todd’s personal choices. The Bible says that “hope deferred makes the heart sick” and this is the last thing GODTV would want to see happen. We arepraying for any that stumbled and believing that the Lord will restore them to Himself.

Remember: this was never about Todd Bentley. It was always about the Holy Spirit and the fact that God loved you and I. It was GOD who touched our lives.

One thing, we felt impressed upon our hearts thirteen years ago when we first launched this ministry. That the Father will allow none of us - whether in ministry or as a viewer to hold idolatry in our hearts for any man.

For the Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit alone are to receive our worship.

We continue on the road to maturity.
We continue our efforts to serve an end time spiritual army.

We continue to try each day to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of the ONLY one who is worthy of ALL adoration.

Of ALL HONOUR.

Of ALL WORSHIP.

Remember also, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Let’s turn our eyes toward Him and away from our trust in man.

He who sent His only begotten Son.

The Great Father of Compassions.

To Him alone we bow.

Personally we believe that the best is yet to come.

For our King and His Kingdom

In this day and age, any automotive manufacturer that does not make their sales brochures available

In this day and age, any automotive manufacturer that does not make their sales brochures available online is pretty shameful. We all know they have their sales brochures in electronic format. They can't be assembled, reviewed, approved and printed without the requisite electronic layout. And it would be so easy to put those electric files online where they can easily and CHEAPLY (read free) be downloaded by auto shoppers.

With the economy the way it is, car companies simply can't afford not to make full use of every exposure medium available. We all know they spend vast amounts of money on these slick brochures. And we all know they spend vast amounts of money on their slick websites. But somehow they fail to make the crossover from distributing those sales materials via dealerships to distributing them FREE via their websites.

Most auto manufacturers allow you to request that sales brochures by mail. And that's great to get these glossy, high-quality brochures in the mail. But wouldn't it be better to be able to request them by mail, and/or, download them immediately from their websites?

Some companies, like Chrysler and Ford have full brochures available. Some companies like Chevrolet and Acura have "fact sheets" available for download. Fact sheets are usually two page overviews of the cars, and while they are better than nothing, they aren't nearly as nice as a full sales brochure. But I was completely surprised to find that companies like BMW, who make the “Ultimate Driving Machine” don’t have the “Ultimate Sales Machine”. While they attempted to make them available, the site only delivers damaged files. It’s a true pity.

Here is Part 1 of our look at brochure availability…

Acura - Allows for requests for brochures to be sent by snail mail. They also provide links to "Fact Sheets". "Fact Sheets" contain a minimum of information about the vehicles, better than nothing but hardly excellent. One annoying part is that you have to go to each cars info page to get the brochure for that model. Which means if you want three brochures you have to load three different model homepages. Too many clicks for limited information. Grade "C-"

Aston Martin - Three models on the site and two models have downloadable brochures. You have to access those brochures from the specific model pages which would be more annoying if they had a wider selection of models but with only three it's not bad. Grade "B"

Audi - Has links to full brochures for most of their vehicles. But they are difficult to find. Once you've located the download links they then ask for your contact information and make you watch a video about why they want that information... for each brochure you'd like to request. They have brochures available for most models but some are missing altogether. Grade "C+"

Bentley - Allows for downloading of all of the brochures on one handy download page. They require you to enter your contact information before getting to that page but most sites request that, and it's understandable. But once you've entered that information you can download all the brochures immediately. Grade "A".

BMW - The makers of the "Ultimate Driving Machine" are apparently not interested in the "Ultimate Website Experience". They have a broken system that requires you to enter ALL of your personal information and then it delivers links that download nothing. Grade "F".

Buick - This is how it should be done. Full brochures available from one page of the website for all models. No personal information is required before you are able to download the brochures. Well done Buick... too bad your corporate cousins didn't learn from your lead. Grade "A+"

Cadillac - They cost more than Buicks, but they don't give you the whole brochure. Cadillac uses a similar "Fact Sheet" to Acura and it's nowhere near as satisfying just to see a list of features and options on the cars. They do make them very easy to download so they do get points for that. Grade "C"

Chevrolet - They do offer Fact Sheets but they don't have full brochures. They do let you request the full brochures. Grade "C"

Chrysler - Navigating to the brochures is somewhat tedious but the full line is available for download and they have the full brochures. You don't have to go to each models page to request the brochures and they don't require any personal information before supplying the download links. Grade "A-"

Dodge - The format here follows the same exact format as Chrysler. Not a perfect setup but extremely nice. Grade "A-"

Ferrari - Nothing to download here. Grade "F"

Ford - Ford allows for downloads of full length brochures. They aren't the same brochure you'd get in print format but they are very nice. It takes a few unnecessary steps to get to the brochures but once to the download area it's not hard to get the ones you need. Grade "B+"

GMC - Somewhere between Buick and Cadillac in what they offer. Very easy to download all the brochures they have on the site. The brochures are not complete though. They are about 8 pages each so they are much better than "Fact Sheets" but not quite as good as the full sales brochure. Grade "B"

Stay tuned for Part 2

INTRODUCTION

(Crewe, 24 September 2008) Since its debut in 1998 the Arnage has conveyed an air of sophisticated understatement as the four-door flagship of the Bentley range. Over the last decade the car has undergone a process of constant refinement to its body, design, chassis and powertrain to maintain its class-leading position in the high luxury market.

To celebrate 10 years of the Arnage, 50 years of its mighty V8 engine and 90 years of the marque, Bentley Motors will launch its limited edition model at the Paris Motor Show next week.

Called the Bentley Arnage Final Series, the new model features a unique specification, combining the performance of the 500 bhp Arnage T with the refinement of the Arnage R and design elements from the Brooklands coupe, for the ultimate expression of British luxury and effortless power in a four-door saloon – a grand finale, for the grandest of Bentleys.

Hand crafted at Bentley’s Crewe facility, the Final Series is an exclusive run of 150 cars, a unique example of the marque’s flagship created to bid ‘farewell’ to the highly successful Arnage line in the most appropriate manner and style. Bentley Chairman and Chief Executive, Dr Franz-Josef Paefgen, explains:

“For 10 years, Arnage has enjoyed extraordinary success at the pinnacle of the luxury saloon market. The Final Series is a celebration of the Arnage era as Bentley prepares for the next generation of its flagship model.”

A COMMANDING ROAD PRESENCE

For the last ten years the Arnage’s combination of muscular lines and understated luxury have endowed it with a commanding road presence synonymous with all Bentley Grand Tourers, subtly conveying the car’s formidable performance potential. This powerful exterior profile is underpinned by a torsionally stiff bodyshell (with an astonishing 6,500 spot welds) that helps to deliver outstanding ride and refinement.

Based on the sporting Arnage T, the Final Series offers a range of discreet exterior cues that further enhance its powerful stance. Key ingredients of the distinctive appearance include a dark-tinted Bentley matrix radiator grille with Flying ‘B’ mascot and dark-tinted lower grille. The iconic Flying ‘B’, which can retract neatly into the grille surround, was originally designed by motoring artist F. Gordon Crosby and was first used on the 1930 Bentley 8-Litre.

The Arnage Final Series is further distinguished by exterior design features first seen on the exclusive Bentley Brooklands coupe, comprising 20-inch five-spoke, two-piece alloy wheels and ‘Le Mans’ lower front wing air vents.

Additional unique features include body-coloured front and rear lamp bezels, ‘jewel’ fuel filler cap (made from billet aluminium) together with ‘Final Series’ wing badges and polished stainless steel treadplates to the front doors.

EXQUISITE CRAFTSMANSHIP

The Arnage Final Series will have a very special appeal to Bentley customers, as Peter Guest, Head of Department, Body & Trim, explains:

“Thanks to its hand-built exclusivity and superb quality, Arnage has become a world-wide benchmark for automotive craftsmanship. The Final Series epitomises the truly bespoke feel we aspire to and are determined to maintain.”

Inside, the Final Series is everything you would expect of a bespoke Bentley, offering the highest levels of hand-craftsmanship to a small, but discerning audience. The interior offers a remarkably spacious, luxury cabin to provide the ultimate in first-class travel for four adults.

Many of the most desirable Mulliner options are included in Final Series as standard, most notably the hand-made waistrails with inset chrome strip with recessed Bentley badges, the new rear cocktail cabinet and document storage trimmed in hide, plus the beautifully designed picnic tables available in a choice of three premium unbleached wood veneers – all prime examples of Crewe craftsmanship.
Bentley is the only automobile manufacturer in the world to offer as standard a cabin trimmed entirely with leather hides – including the headlining. The hand-crafted steering wheel requires up to 16 hours of double-stitching.

A set of mirror-matched veneers for each car takes 13 days to craft, while 17 hides and almost 400 separate pieces of leather are used for the upholstery, trim and headlining. Arnage Final Series spans the many eras between traditional coachbuilding skills and 21st century high-performance automotive engineering.

As in every Bentley, peerless craftsmanship and bespoke finishing are to the fore. Every item of trim, be it veneer, hide or chromed bezel, uses authentic materials. Built by hand, the creation of each Arnage takes a minimum of six weeks and owners can take full advantage of Mulliner, Bentley’s specialist commissioning department, as Trevor Gay, Personal Commissioning Manager, Mulliner elaborates:

“Up to 80 percent of Arnage customers specify Mulliner features. Mulliner is completely dedicated to fully understanding their requirements and to delivering a bespoke experience and a uniquely high level of personal service.”

Arnage Final Series is available in the full Bentley range of 42 exterior colours, 25 interior hides, and three veneers, plus the comprehensive line-up of Mulliner options and its bespoke colour-matching service that enable Bentley owners to create a uniquely personal car.

To help customers finalise the specification of their Arnage Final Series, the Bentley design team recommends six classic colour and trim combinations – Titan Grey (with Anthracite interior), Royal Ebony (with Beluga), Windsor Blue (with Windsor Blue), Meteor (with Imperial Blue), Burnt Oak (with Burnt Oak) and Black Velvet (with Burgundy).

NEW FEATURE ENHANCEMENTS

Arnage Final Series buyers will also benefit from a range of standard and optional feature enhancements. Standard enhancements include:

* New audio head unit – with larger display screen and an SD (secure digital) memory card slot instead of the single CD slot.
* New rear cup holders – displaying Bentley craftsmanship, these removable cup holders attach to the front edge of the rear centre armrest, or can be stored inside the armrest.
* New hide covered boot rail – features coordinated leather trim and a chrome strip along the top edge.
* Rear remote control – enables the rear seat passengers to control the infotainment system. When not in use it can be stored in a dedicated pouch inside the rear centre armrest.
* Naim for Bentley world class audio system – delivers the world’s best in-car sound stage. Created in partnership with Bentley by Naim Audio, a UK-based high end hi-fi manufacturer, this system features 10 speakers, a dual channel sub-woofer and a 1100 Watt amplifier – the world’s most powerful production unit fitted in a car. Bentley is also the first car manufacturer to use a next-generation Digital Signal Processor (DSP) in its audio system which features eight individual modes to reproduce true emotions and a ‘live’ concert-like experience.

EFFORTLESS PERFORMANCE FROM CREWE’S MIGHTY V8

The engine, transmission, chassis and running gear of the Arnage Final Series are identical to those previously employed in Arnage T. In this specification, Bentley’s remarkable all-aluminium 6 ¾ litre V8 engine produces 500 bhp (507PS/373kW) and 1000 Nm (738lb ft) of torque – figures that ensure that the legendary Bentley ‘wave of torque’ delivers effortless performance for a unique driving experience.

Acceleration to 60 mph is accomplished in 5.2 seconds (0-100km/h in 5.5 secs) with 100 mph reached in 12.1 seconds (0-160km/h in 12.0 seconds). Top speed of the Final Series is 179 mph / 288 km/h. Each V8 engine bears the signature of the team leader who oversaw its hand-built construction in the Crewe factory.

The six-speed ZF automatic transmission, first introduced for the 2007 model, ensures optimum flexibility, response and refinement. Three transmission modes (Drive, Sport and Semi-Automatic) allow the driver to take full advantage of the powerful 500 bhp V8 engine.

DYNAMIC HANDLING, SUPERB RIDE AND AWESOME BRAKING

Significantly upgraded in 2007, the Arnage’s fully independent double wishbone front and rear suspension features coil springs with computer-controlled, adaptive electro-hydraulic dampers and automatic ride-height control with auto-load compensation. These endow the Arnage with impressive body control in all driving conditions, while the new five-spoke, two-piece 8.5J x 20-inch Sports alloy wheels with 255/40 ZR20 Pirelli P Zero tyres – originally developed for the Brooklands coupe - aid handling and road holding.

As an option, Final Series may be specified with carbon/silicon carbide, cross-drilled brake discs. Measuring 420 x 40 mm (front) and 356 x 28 mm (rear), these discs are the largest fitted to any production car on sale today. With eight-piston callipers, the brakes provide impressive retardation and also give an 8kg reduction in unsprung weight, benefiting steering response, ride suppleness and acceleration.

This lightweight braking system ensures virtually fade-free use, time after time, and superb resistance to disc distortion under high thermal conditions. Under normal use, the brake discs will last the lifetime of the car and pad life is doubled compared to the standard system.

The Traction Control system is calibrated with the aim of avoiding all unnecessary reductions in engine torque. The ESP logic system, which is set-up to allow spirited handling without any reduction in stability or safety, monitors the car’s overall stability rather than simply loss of grip to the wheels. This reduces the amount of intervention required and restores power earlier and more progressively, allowing the power of the V8 engine to be fully exploited.

50TH ANNIVERSARY FOR BENTLEY’S MIGHTY V8

The fitment of Bentley’s legendary V8 engine in the Final Series in its most powerful Arnage form is an ideal way to celebrate the 50th anniversary of this renowned powertrain.

Drawing on the wealth of aircraft engine experience gained at Crewe – manufacturing thousands of Merlin engines to power such famous British WW2 planes as the Hurricane, Spitfire, Mosquito and Lancaster – the first Bentley V8 engine was designed and built in 1959.

The fact that Bentley’s V8 design has served the marque remarkably well for five decades should not come as a surprise, as Dr Ulrich Eichhorn, Member of the Board, Engineering, comments:

“The original forward-thinking design of the all-aluminium Bentley V8 was a masterpiece and so good that we have been able to improve it continuously for nearly 50 years.

Today’s engine produces around two and a half times the power of its 1959 predecessor, fuel consumption is only 60 percent of the original and emissions are an incredible 99 percent lower.”

In 1959 the power and torque of that first 6.23-litre 90-degree V8 engine in the Bentley S2 saloon was officially described as “adequate”. Actual output was around 200 bhp with 400 Nm of torque. Today, the Final Series 6 ¾ V8 produces 500 bhp and 1000 Nm with over 90 percent of that torque available between 1,800 and 3,800 rev/min.

One of the reasons Bentley’s V8 engine has evolved so successfully is the position of the exhaust valves, high in the cylinder head with short ports, originally designed for rapid heat dissipation to help engine cooling. Decades later this meant that the catalytic converters could be quickly heated thanks to the short path from valves to catalysts, which benefits exhaust emissions.

Driven by the need to meet increasingly stringent exhaust gas legislation around the world and the desire of many Bentley drivers for more power, the V8 engine has progressively evolved over the years.

In 1962 an increased compression ratio enhanced performance. Seven years later, for the Bentley T-series, the V8 engine underwent a far greater power boost with a longer stroke increasing capacity to 6 ¾ litres, where it remains to this day.

The introduction of turbocharging in 1982 delivered an even more dramatic increase in power to 297bhp to create the Bentley Mulsanne Turbo. The later introduction of port injection systems and a charge cooler for the turbo further improved performance.

In 1999 the V8 engine was introduced into the Arnage, codenamed “F1”, with a single turbocharger, by now developing 400bhp/298kW and 616lbft/835 Nm of torque. This was followed in 2002 by the “F6” version featuring twin turbochargers, boosting power to 450bhp/336kW with 645lbft/875 Nm of torque.

The V8 engine underwent perhaps its most extensive development in 2006 taking power to 500 bhp and torque to 1000 Nm. The introduction of two low-inertia, quick-reacting turbochargers that operate with far greater efficiency at lower engine speeds, reach maximum turbine speed in half the time of the previous units.

Furthermore, a re-profiled camshaft with an all-new roller tappet system provided revised valve timing and substantially improved refinement. These changes also delivered increased power, enhanced durability and ensured compliance with European EU IV and US LEV II emission standards.

THE PERFECT MODEL TO BID ‘FAREWELL’ TO ARNAGE

Commenting on the final chapter of the Arnage story, Stuart McCullough, Member of the Board, Sales and Marketing, says:

“The Final Series is the perfect model to give our Arnage flagship a splendid send off. Handcrafted at Crewe, this exclusive run of 150 cars represents the ultimate expression of Bentley luxury and effortless power.” ENDS
