I have been seeking my spirituality for many years now, but it is only until recently that I have really been devoted to figuring out why I am here, and what my purpose is in life.  I have always felt like an outsider -- like I didn't fit in.  Something seemed to be missing.  I had a perfectly normal life -- ups and downs like most of us, no major drama, but I always had an underlying nagging, yearning for something more.  What it was, I had no idea, but I just felt lost and incomplete.  Now I am beginning to understand that the piece I was missing was my inner consciousness, my higher beingness that was being covered up by all the nonsense mind chatter that I allowed to consume me.  Now I am being more mindful of where I am allowing my thoughts to roam.  I am becoming more of a witness to my thoughts, and therefore able to pick and chose which ones I want to focus on.

The book "A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle has totallytransformed my life, and the way I view the outside world.  It has brought such peace and balance to what was once a very fearfuland avoidance type existence.  I am such a happier, more joyful person now.  I feels wonderful, and I want it to last forever, but as Eckhart says, "This too shall pass".  So, until then, I will enjoy the bliss this new found belief system has afforded me, and be grateful for the opportunity to learn and grow.

The mixed feelings come from different places and different reactions to the poster. First let me say I applaud the Ministry for taking this step. It is a good move towards opening the dialogue about STDs in general and HIV in particular. It has always been a taboo of a topic here. We are like ostriches with our heads in the sand, in denial about the magnitude of the problem that exists in Jordan; about the unsafe sexual practices, about sexual abuse, about STDs and about actual figures. So this is a good step, no, a great step forward

I am dismayed and disappointed in the campaign its self. Visually it leaves a lot to be desired, the poster reads like a brochure, detracting from the message. It would have been more effective to use less text for more impact redirecting people who are interested to brochures, website or the phone line they have.

The actual messages sent are both positive and yet frustrating. I have heard a lot of reactions to this campaign and the reoccurring theme is wow this is great, they will learn, and hmmm they have some misconceptions. My worry is that with misinformation we can do more harm than good. Also there is no advocacy for safe sex practices. In fact they have listed sex as dangerous as a whole, which will not deter people from having sex.

For those that don’t read Arabic the campaign is a series of questions, some highlights from the texts...

• Do you have any sexual practices?
• Do you have any "dangerous" sexual practices (girl and girl, guy and guy, guy and girl)?
• Do you know that VERY beautiful girl may have AIDS?
• Do you know that STRONG, BEAUTIFUL young man may have AIDS?
• AIDS tests are private and confidential
• AIDS testing is free in Jordan
• There is no "quarantine" or reservations against AIDS patients in Jordan

I have heard that this campaign is using the internet and SMS to spread the word, a great way to target the younger generation. I hope there is a plan for wider reach and more mass media tools and techniques. We need to break through the silence and really have people become more aware of the dangers and how to prevent them.

I’m all about charity work and giving your time to help raise awareness, so I love it when stories come across my screen about people trying to make a difference, especially from a music genre that typically isn’t characterized as one that likes to lend a helping hand. The first Hip Hop for HIV concert is going totake place in Dallas at the Dallas City Hall on September 14, 2008.

With a goal of increasing awareness, alleviating the fears associated with HIV/AIDS, and to help people go get tested, this 4 hour jam session with some of the top hip hop acts is well-worth supporting. Those who are willing to get tested onsite for the disease will get a free ticket to the concert.

Hip hop artists and rappers performing include David Banner, Mike Jones, Bun B, Day 26, Pleasure P, Young Berg, Trap Star, and a host of others.

This is a great reason to get out and listen to some good music. I hope people will take to the streets to help make a difference. Awareness is the key y’all!

So why not admit it? You sometimes feel anxiety, rage and despair.  You are tired: tired of trying to succeed, tired of feeling responsible for feeding the family, tired of younger men being promoted over you, tired of watching other people accumulate consumer goods, tired of feeling like a loser, tired of trying to maintain success, tired of the job, tired of looking for a job- just tired, tired, tired!

Mental and physical exhaustion manifest itself in a myriad of different ways.  Common manifestations are angina pectoris, high blood pressure, low blood pressure, fluid retention, ulcers, bowel disorders, breathing problems, hyperventilation, and inexplicable pains.  And the problem is that the lifestyle can become addictive.  Beta blockers which are so often prescribed in these situations do not provide an answer to the fundamental exhaustion, and of far more use is the awareness to recognize the symptoms for what they are.  Looking at how family and friends react to you is also helpful.  If they jump out of the window every time you enter the room, you know that it may be time to slow down.  Pushing yourself beyond the limit to get the house painted over the weekends, or keep the lawn looking like the center court at Wimbledon is all very commendable, but is it worth it if it makes you so grumpy that nobody dares talk to you? And think about that pain you have in the leg or back- it may have more to do with sheer exhaustion than rheumatic problems.

Relaxation is the key word, but without help it is easier said than done.  For someone in an exhausted state massage provides a particularly good way of relaxing, although it may take six or more sessions for relaxation to be complete. Using the essential oils not only helps the body to cope but enables an exhausted person to sleep so that reserves of energy may be put back.  A rested person is also better able to deal with emotional situations and can avoid the dramatic emotional swings characteristic of the exhausted state.

My own experiences are quite bitter and because of them this is very hard posting to write and publish, but I try because I think this is an important issue. I've slowly learned to not blame my self. I don't dress provocatively and I was just a small girl when it happened the first time. Yet it has left scars.

Slowly I've been forgiving the men too, as I believe they truly don't understand, how they hurt. They don't mean to be evil, they just act out of their own limited experience and understanding of women. What we could really do is try to teach boys, when they still are able to take  in the message and not totally controlled by their hormones. I think men don't understand, because for them intimate advances and suggestions don't feel like harassment. They don't understand, like most women do, that male and female sexuality is deep down quite different.

My story is not beautiful and I think it is to blame my over-shyness in the intimate relationships with men. My gage started building up when I was five. I got a lot of unwanted attention from some what older boy.  At that age even kiss is too much, but he did more. He said he was in love with me, but it was not cute “being love” it is usually among children. I think this made me vulnerable for later accidents. Adults did not take my distress it seriously, yet they considered he had seen far too much adult action.  At that point he was propably victim too.

Again when I was at school and in my teens I got attention from a gang of older boys. They used to gather around me talking dirty and making suggestions. I was afraid of them and used to stare my feet. There was no trustworthy adult for me to talk about the situation. It lasted whole spring - longer than the first one. We had just moved and I really did not have friends in my new school either. Only later did I learn that they had been bullying others in the different ways too. I only learned it too late as I had already build my walls.

When I once again encountered this as an adult, I was too wounded to protect my self and get over it. It wounded me again and left me bitter. The worst was that men I tried to confide were either not able or willing to understand my distress. My experience was downplayed or called exaggeration. I felt lonely and helpless like I had the other times too. And I was angry and bitter, even if I would not have wanted to be. I have always wanted to be like other "girls" (women) - easy going with "boys" (men).

On top of these serious ones there has been unwanted touching (like pinching ass and rubbing) and propositions in many occasions of my life. I dress very modestly, but it does not seem to clear out this problem. I had even one experience where the question was about potential stalking. He definately crossed the line, although I might have taken it slightly too seriously, if that is possible.

Especially problematic it was in Italy and India. It is like some men think that foreign women are free game and to be treated badly. Most of the men are of course not like this, but it needs just one bad apple to make the taste sour. Men seem to have certain stereotype of either foreign women in general or western women in particular. There is also general attitude towards women especially in India, where the women only passenger cars are necessary in even local trains.
