I LOVE New York...seriously, I adore visiting this dynamic city. So here are some deets on my trip...

My very dear New Yorker friend Forest graciously set up a fantastic dining experience at Ninja (sushi spot in TriBeCa) last weekend! It was a mind blowing experience. When Fitz and I met up with Forest and his date, we hopped into an elevator that descended below to a darkly lit scene right out of a Tokyo village. As the elevator doors opened, I gingerly looked around and then confidently stepped out of the elevator exclaiming, "What a relief, I was about ready to scream."

And right as I pronounced that last syllable, a ninja, garbed in black attire, leaped out at me and I screamed something awfully high pitched and awkward and nearly collapsed on the floor, huddled in the fetal position. Good times.

Let's just say that the remainder of the evening was an EXPERIENCE to remember. Fires, explosions, dry ice, creativity, and atmosphere all played strong roles in the evening entertainment. Lots of shrieks and giggles ensued. I loved the company, the food, the memories...I loved it all. I love New York.

Don't believe my fab story? Check the evidence:

Thanks for setting this up, Forest! It's funny how in life, as time speeds by, there are those who always have a presence and a place, those we never lose touch with no matter the distance or time...those we connect with for no particular reason other than life's magnetic pull. You are such a fantastic friend and I am so honored to know you.

Assassin's Creed has been a very..."interesting" experience for me. I can't really say it's a bad or good game in full confidence because it does some things right, but others wrong. One thing I can definitively say; however, is that I'm glad to be putting the final nail in its coffin.

The main focus of the game is, obviously, being an assassin and therefore assassinating people. Now, these sections where you get targets and assassinate them are very, very good. You get to plan your attack, use stealth and really just get wrapped up in the experience in general. The offset is that these bits seem so very few and far between. The game is mostly composed of you doing extremely similar tasks in one of the game's three cities in order to gather information about your target. These bits, along with save citizen missions and viewpoints, are extremely tedious and annoying. One could, and probably should, minimise these bits and cut straight to the assassinations as quickly as possible to get maximum entertainment out of the game.

As far as the actual "killing people" part goes, I have to admit that I do think there's really very few ways of going about it. I mean, the game has two "stealth" weapons that are both instant kill (one knife for up close and throwing knives for farther away) and besides that you can use a bigger sword or a smaller one (your fists too, if you're insane) in order to brutalise your enemies in a manner that feels distinctly un-assassinlike. In this way the assassinations too are repetitive in one sense. The different setting and conditions of each assassination does offer enough variety to keep interest though. However, during the last spurt of gameplay you are forced to rely entirely on close combat, which the game doesn't really do a fantastic job of; making it generally easy and rather boring and tedious.

The setting and scenes of the game can't really be flawed too much in my opinion. After all, it makes a reasonably good job of making each town different from the other; all are fun to jump from roof to roof in and in general the game environments are very pleasant and enjoyable.

I think that perhaps one of the game's greatest niggles is: guards spotting Altair with such great ease. It's rather ridiculous how easily one can be spotted by an aimlessly wandering troupe of guards. I already mentioned in my "Assassin's Creed First Impressions" post how very, very irritating it is that just for having fun galloping wildly on my fierce stallion, speeding off to my next destination, I can have my shins hacked off so easily. In the towns I admit that this problem is less prevalent; yet all too often have I just stumbled across a band of five or so guards that have the express purpose of serving my ass on a platter in mind. One arbitrary note here: why oh goddamn WHY do lepers and beggar women only bother Altair!? It really does irritate me that they're injected into the game purely as obstacles for the player, which really does make them feel badly integrated into the game.

Another weird thing that the game pulls is it's sci-fi, arguably "main", plot. I admit that it makes pulling out sequels that much easier, which is obviously it's purpose; however, I would have been much happier just playing as Altair and seeing everything through his eyes instead of having to follow Desmond's plot along with Altair's and sort of seeing Altair's story as a corollary of Desmond's. Overall though, the plot is pretty tolerable and was enough to keep me interested in the game after a while.

All in all, Assassin's Creed probably isn't worth getting in my opinion. The highlights of the game were: the parkour hopping from building to building which is probably done better by titles like Prince Of Persia and the like, and the assassinations which (while quite enjoyable) were much too few and far between to redeem the irksome flaws of the game.

Bang, bang

By Nicola Brooks

Chapter one

I am the daughter of a rich man, a millionaire who is well acquainted in a world of politics, and even Prime Minister himself. My mother is a woman who lives in line under my father and daren’t speak in fear of what he’ll do if she did - and I am the daughter they’d not expected, a paid gift from god so they say.

But I can assure you, I am not a gift to them. I am a party piece! I was only there to complete the family album and nothing more - and the money you ask? The money was never mine. He always restricted us and so it never had a chance to spoil me. It was as if I never had it at all, especially after last summer when they caught me in the closet with another woman, which was completely innocent of course, or at least it would have been had they believed me when I said it was the only place in the house without a smoke alarm! They never liked me smoking.

After that they threatened me with my inheritance which as their only child I was to receive when they die. That right was taken away from me and they asked me to leave. Only so they could hide their shameful daughter! As far as I know, everyone believes I am away on financial business. Ironic now that I am sat discussing such matters with you.

So, I moved and no longer live in England, only my strong accent gives me away to strangers. Believe it or not, it’s not so bad, and honestly it’s not the money I am interested in.

The blonde woman sat across from me, lets her eyes drift from mine to my lips and says nothing. She waits, she expects me to continue.

“Jesus, I said too much!” I nod knowing to well that I ramble when I’m nervous.

“If their reputation, then surely their money also, no? Both come hand in hand!”

Her voice is soft and drowns me with desire, I can tell by the look in her eye that she knows it. I smile before looking left at the bar tender and raise my glass to order another drink. I look back at her to see a cigarette between her lips and then her hand slides the open box to my side of the table.

“Do you want one?” she asks and her voice makes my back arch making me just that little bit closer to her.

“No, thank you.” I smile weakly, “I haven’t had one in about a week now.”

She pouts and takes another drag before putting it out in the marble astray sat between us. “Sorry” she says in a smoky breath and leans back in her chair.

I am mesmerized by her every move and it takes me ten seconds or more before I respond. “It’s Ok, don’t stop on my behalf, I know I wouldn’t!” I admit though wonder if I am too honest for our first engagement. But I am assured as her face softens and seems to tell me otherwise.

“So…” she begins but is interrupted as the waiter stands above us and fills my glass from a wine bottle. Nodding my thanks he slips away without a word. She looks cautiously at me as she leans in again, “Just how much is this inheritance of yours worth?”

My back straightens and I shy away. I was enjoying the flow of conversation and for a moment I lost myself, maybe she was only after one thing? Yes of course, the money! I casually check around us and then move forward until our lips are only inches apart, “Millions!” I whisper.

A spark fly’s through her eyes, “Millions” she repeats with a sense of satisfaction and once again leans back in her seat. “So, you hire me and bang, bang! You get your money, your three story mansion and more importantly you get to step out of the closet!” she lays the plan out for me and it’s as simple as it sounds.

“Bang, bang?” I ask warily.

“Yes, well…” she watches my face for a reaction; she senses a gun to be a bad idea. “We have yet to discuss how, don‘t we?” she finishes.

“And I never said I was in the closet!” I defend though I know to well I have been flirting with her.

“Ah, but you did” her eyebrow raises as she waits for me to catch up.

I sit there stifled by it and try to remember if and when I’d said that. She was right, I had. Remembering I smile “Right!” and sip my drink which had been sat untouched till now.

“Would it be too soon to suggest heading back to yours, to err, discuss this more?”

I am sure the tone in her voice suggests more than is expected and I can only nod in agreement. She waits for me to finish my drink and I pretty much down it. Minutes later she stands and moves past me toward the door, but before I follow her I pick up the nearly full packet of cigarettes she’d left behind and slide them in my pocket for later. I have a feeling I will need them.

We had taken a taxi and sat side by side in the back where her knee casually rubbed against mine every time the car took a turn. We sat in silence; apart from answering the driver when he asked “Good night ladies?”

“It’s only just beginning” she’d told him in that sultry voice.

My hand being sweaty, slides on the door handle as I turn it but soon enough the door opens and I politely allow her to enter first. As she moves in front of me I wipe my sweaty palms on my jeans, I am nervous and I'm sure that she knows it. I light the room with a few lamps here and there and head for the kitchen.

“Drink?” I call out.

“Yes, thanks!”

I step reach for the top shelf and my eye catches the piece of paper stuck on the fridge by a fridge magnet. It's her number and written below it, her alias Coco. It had taken me weeks to pick up the courage to contact her, but the moment I heard her voice I was glad I had. Looking at her now as she relaxes on my sofa, I am even more tense than before!

“So, Coco, can you tell me your real name?” I call out from the kitchen.

“No.” she say's simply.

I am tempted to ask more but I keep quiet - she is an assassin after all! The image of her holding a gun in her hand runs through my mind and quickly I shake it off! It does nothing for my nerves. I keep my eye on her as she takes a seat on the sofa. I reach into the cupboard, my fingers lingering on the neck of the Gin bottle which seems ideal!

“Is this OK?” I call out, show her the bottle when our eyes meet.

She smiles “Perfect!” she turns away and begins to take her jacket black leather off, revealing a tight black shirt underneath.

I lift the bottle with both hands and began to pour. I was watching her cross her legs and it wasn't until the liquid overflowed and proceeded to drown the glass in a pool of costly port that I realised what I‘d done.

“Shit!” I curse and immediately blush as she looks over to see what has happened.

“You need a hand with that?”

Before I can answer she stands and heads toward me with a sensual swagger, a walk that can only be described as foreplay.

“Sorry” I apologise whilst taking a cloth to the spill with shaky hands.

“Give me your hands” she asks reaching out to take them.

I hesitate but let go of the cloth and place my wet hands in hers. She looks at them and for a moment say's nothing. Then her fingers began to gently massage mine. It’s a strange feeling, knowing this woman could be so gentle yet, not so much.

“Just relax, we don't have to talk about it just yet.” her voice settles me, her eye's all the time looking down. “You’re allowed to be anxious, concerned and frightened… excited even!”

Only now she looks up sharply and I search her eyes. I can see that she is genuinely concerned for me, it makes my stomach turn; I like it. Maybe this is the way she deals with all of her clients; maybe this is part of her business. Then again maybe not; the thought makes me smile and I watch our fingers entwine, I want nothing more than for her to suck the liquor off of my fingers.

She notices the change in me and raises her eyebrow “Ok?" to which I nod and then gently pull them back to finish getting her a drink.

“Blackwood’s Vintage Gin” she say's with her head tilted to one side so she can read the bottle.

“It’s not available here, only in Scotland” I pass her the glass, our fingers touching just slightly “My father always took regular trips and brought it back with him.”

I watch her as she sips the beverage and lets it wash in her mouth before swallowing, finally giving a nod in approval.

“It was my father’s favourite. He’d hide it in the bedroom cabinet and have a shot or two when my mother wasn’t looking. When I was a child he’d threaten me into not telling her” I pick up my glass and take the drink in one go, placing the empty glass down with a heavy hand.

“This was his bottle!” I smirk; firing something in her she places her glass to her lips and lifts it, swallowing it as I had done in one shot.

“Nice!” she breathes huskily from her throat where the liquor burnt. “At least he has good taste, if anything” she pushes her glass toward me.

"I'm not sure his tailor would agree with that statement" I said filling each glass again and then I drank it as fast as the first, placing the glass aside. "I have to show you what I mean!" I tell her and with the bottle in my hand head toward my bedroom.

I hear her empty glass hit the side and look back to see her following me, just as I’d expected. I wait and when she enters I hold out a photo frame to her “That’s him on the left is the dashing suit, my mother on the right.”

She takes the frame and turns it into the light from the other room, my bedroom light not on. She looks up “You’re missing from the family photo!” She say's passing it back and looks around my room.

“You can keep this one, for future reference” I tell her and begin taking the picture out. I look up to pass her the picture to find her gone.

“Boo” she whispers into my ear from behind me “Don’t move!” she tells me with one hand on my elbow.

My muscles tense as her hand slides slowly down my back to rest on my backside, and as her hand begins fondling it I close my eyes and bite my lip to contain from speaking. Just as I relax into her she pulls away making me flinch. I turn to see her silhouette by the window and the orange glow of cigarette between her lips. She'd managed to remove the packet from my back pocket without me noticing; she is good!

“Would you like one?” She asks, for the second time that evening. I step closer, our bodies lit by the street lights outside my bedroom window. There's no need to answer her as she takes a cigarette and lifts it to my lips before putting a lighter to it.

I perch on the windowsill and began to smoke “Coco, do you tease all your clients like this?” I ask between puffs.

She stares at me before taking a single step closing the gap between us and places her lips delicately on mine. It's barely a kiss, but it a kiss none the less. She moves away and looks out the window “No” she say's taking a drag “And it’s Isabel” she tells me as she sits beside me.
Prison de Varces

An inmate in a French prison has been shot dead by a sniper from outside the jail, officials say. They say another prisoner was injured in the same shooting in the south-eastern town of Varces.

The suspected gunman was arrested shortly afterwards with his gun still hot, French Justice Minister Rachida Dati says. It is the first time in France that a prisoner has been killed from outside the jail, Ms Dati says.

Five shots were fired at the exercise yard of the jail, officials say.

The prisoner who was killed was about to be questioned in a murder case, Ms Dati says. The man...also had links to organised crime.

Ms Dati says the suspected gunman is being held in custody.

Phew! You can't even be safe from violence when you're in prison.

But, seriously - must have been some serious time pressures to result in such an impetuous assassination. Like the imminent questioning.

When Spencer Grant, an ex-law enforcement officer, who's living off the grid, tries to reacquaint with Valerie Keene, a waitress who dazzled him in a bar, he discovers she's being hunted by government officials on a mission to kill her. From what he knows of her, they can't possibly have good reason for wanting her dead. His quest to find her makes him the target of an assassin, who works for the shadow agency hunting Valerie and kills emotionally wounded or physically hindered individuals to show them mercy.

While tracking down Valerie with his trusty, skittish dog, Rocky, by his side, the internally and externally scarred Spencer must not only uncover a buried memory that haunts his dreams and is just a breath away but also avoid the most efficient eyes and ears on the planet. Finally reuntied, he and Valerie embark on the run of their lives in a nail-biting chase.

Frustrated and peeved, the assassin pulls out all the stops and drudges up Spencer's worst nightmare to use as a snare, jerking various characters into a stomach-churning climax, leaving readers cringing and unsure as to who if any of them will survive.

I enjoyed the researched details, from the Eucalyptus Red Gum problem in L.A. to the high-tech surveillance to the computer hacking to the too-kind Mormon police. And I also appreciated Koontz's skill in weaving the past and present and using dream sequences in a non-clumsy way. Any inserted backstory was gripping rather than weighty. And I love conspiracies so the shadow government thing worked for me. He made it believable and chilling.

I found this ride suspenseful and enjoyed it very much. The ending had some sweet justice, kind of, but left things a little messy. I wish Koontz had turned the tables and allowed the monster to kill the creator so to speak. If you've read the book, you know what I mean. A twist of irony would have been delicious and I was disappointed he didn't pull the trigger. Also, Valerie makes a point to say she'll have to kill the one who's after her, but the story never had that confrontation. I was teased into believing it would enter into the novel at the end and was annoyed it didn't.

All in all though, I enjoyed the story but just wish the ending had been a bit more tidy and satisfying. It could have been with better choices by Koontz.

If you want to read a well-researched book with round characters, a suspenseful plot with expertly interwoven threads of past and present, and a cool dog who finally gets his day to be a hero, check it out.

Matti Juhani Saari, a 22-year-old culinary arts student, at the Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences in Kuhajoki, a city in western Finland, shot and fatally injured ten people with a semi automatic weapon before committing suicide by shooting himself in the head. He was pronounced dead at Tampere University Hospital. The gunman was a second year student in a Bachelor of Hospitality degree program.

The police said yesterday that, a day after the bloodbath that the assassin had left a “hate message” in the student dorm where he resided. However, the full contents of the message have not yet been revealed. People have been in an uproar since it came to light that police inaction may have enabled Saari to carry out his murderous plot. This is the second massacre in less than a year in the Scandinavian country. The other was at the Jokela School in November 2007, where eight people were killed. Prior to that, only one other school shooting was ever reported in Finland, in Rauma in 1989, when two people were killed.

Before the attack, the police had received serious warnings and interrogated the young man. In what seems inexcusable now, they didn’t even take away his Walther P22 Target semi-automatic firearm and allowed him to keep his carrying permit. The criminal had uploaded several videos in the YouTube Internet portal, stating that he was for gun ownership.

After the interrogation with the police concluded Monday, which ended without any preventive measures being taken, the assassin uploaded a new video in which he mimics shooting into the camera and says in English, “you will be the next one to die.” The police were alerted again but did nothing about this incident either.

The end result is that 11 people, including the gunman, are dead and the police have not yet offered any answers to the relevant questions. At TicosLand.com, we express our condolences to the grieving families for their loss. We will also leave it up to our readers in Costa Rica and around the world to draw their own conclusions.

To get the Assassin Emblem and also Altair costume, you have to fulfill 3 conditions: have 50+ knife

To get the Assassin Emblem and also Altair costume, you have to fulfill 3 conditions: have 50+ knife kills, 50+ CQC holds and less than 25 alerts. For short, just CQC hold 50 enemies and slit their throats.

But, the problem is, in MGS4, you hardly find any enemy go alone. They usually go by groups and that will make things harder for you. Luckily, I just find a way to make it a little easier, you just need a little patience to do this.

Where? Remember the scene when you encounter Akiba for the first time and you get the drum? From that scene, go up a little bit, you can see a white rebel guy standing in the corner facing away from you. do whatever you want to him. You can search his body (to get the Ant and Gibbon emblem also), then kill him. Then, run and hide at the ladder. Another guy will go to the EXACT location( very convenient, huh?), do this 50 times and keep your alerts under 25 and you're good to go. Below is a video clip show how to do it

Note:in this video clip, I used the Syringe only for fun. It doesn't have any effect on your record.

By the way, if you wonder what will happen when you kill the rebels, they will turn against you of course, but there is an easy way to make them friendly again. There is a bunch of PMC soldiers up ahead, clim the ladder, use the mortar to kill all of them, after that, the rebels will be your friends again( sometime I wish life will be easy like that)

And if you don't need the emblems, just the costume, there is a code for it:aottrykmyn

If you have any idea or tip to play this game, feel free to post a little comment, thank you!

Have fun!!!

The best game ever invented [[well, at least one of the top three]] is back at UMBC! If you've never heard of assassin, it's a campus-wide game of skill & strategy!

Basically, at the beginning of each week, you are assigned a target. Your job over the course of the week is to "kill" that target by hitting them with a sock. Once you've successfully done that, you will get a new target for the next week (probably the person that your original target was supposed to try to kill). But watch out! There is also someone trying to kill you. The goal is to be the last one standing- so for a week the campus is full of very paranoid people carrying around socks & talking about killing other people. Quite funny, really.

Last time this was played was my freshman year, and I was killed within a few hours. This time, however, I'm doing AWESOME! I haven't killed my target yet, but the person who was trying to kill me was killed [[so I'm basically safe for the week]]. I'm planning an attack today- so I'll post later and keep you updated on my status in the game :)

Well, now that I have been leveling 2 alts since drop rates are horrible and xp is bad in ss room, I

Well, now that I have been leveling 2 alts since drop rates are horrible and xp is bad in ss room, I have come across a lot of players who not only are new to the game, which is great, but who also do not listen, which is bad :)

Because of this, I wanted to make a "how to dp with high level pets" guide. This will not be the gold standard of guides, and some may have other ideas, but it is a start.

What is a dungeon party?

- see the dungeon party guide here and others

What is a high level pet?

- A high level pet is defined as any pet of a higher level than party members. I would further split this up into r4, r5, evo3, and r6 pets. The higher the level above the party members, the better off the party will be for the party.

- HLP is an abbreviation for a high level pet

What pets can be used?

- technically any pet can be used but usually a desired pet is one that can tank and keep aggro. If party members are smart even a pet without the area of effect skill or threat toggle can effectively be used.

- even bps and rps can tank if they are high enough but ideally you would use the bp to heal and the rp to dd

- my favorite high level pets to use are angel and hawk for tanking and the kenta for damage dealing, if possible.

Why are high level pets different from my same level pet?

- although the high level pets are not as strong on lower level characters (they are nerfed), they still are stronger than a pet the same level as the owner due to higher stats, better skills, high level skills, and better equipment. They also have an inherent dodge bonus due to the level difference between themselves and the mobz

So how do we make sure things go well?

- You need to treat the high level pet as if you would treat a tank

- Let the pet keep the attention or aggro of the mobz - ALL the mobz

- Let the pet hit the pulled mob first

- Let the pet hit the chipped mob first

- DO NOT solo a mob - ideally the clerics can damage deal if the pet does all the tanking.

- If you are being attacked by a mob and cannot solo effectively, do not keep attacking it. Let the high level pet or the tank character in your party take it from you OR use a crowd control spell and do not attack it (stun, sleep, nightmare, etc)

- Realize that in most cases if you do not follow the above rules and you die, it is usually your fault, especially if you are pulling 10+ mobz at a time because if the cleric heals you he will die

- Do I have to have a high level pet to party with people who have high level pets - no not at all. Just do not demand one when partying

Well, that is a short guide but enough for now. Hope it helps :)
