Nach ein wenig googlen fand ich dann die Lösung! Man muss ScummVM auf den Alsa-Port 17:0 umbiegen:

Nunca había podido configurar el sonido 5.1 en una PC con Gnu/Linux, hoy con una simple busqueda en google encontré este blog donde explica como hacer y es sumamente fácil:

solo edite el archivo alsa-base:

$ sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base

agregando esta linea:

options snd-hda-intel model=6stack

Luego reinicie la PC (por que no sabia como reiniciar el sonido ALSA) y ya tenia sonido 5.1. Lo probé con el reproductor VLC viendo una pelicula en HD y tambien reproduciendo algunos DVDs.

Berichten von anderen Usern nach, könnte allerdings auch ein Wechsel auf ALSA bei dieser Einstellung das Problem beheben, was bei mir allerdings nicht funktioniert hat.

According to an article published today in El Comercio Digital, the low cost airline will suspend flights between Asturias and Madrid, and Asturias and Geneva from October 26th. The move signals the end of low-cost air links between Asturias and the capital as the aviation industry struggles with falling passenger numbers and rising fuel costs. Beleaguered airline Spanair has already stopped flying between Madrid and Asturias as part of a radical cost-cutting exercise initiated before the Madrid air tragedy.

EasyJet will continue operating the air link between London and Asturias. According to El Comercio Digital, EasyJet receive a grant from the government of Asturias for maintaining this route.

Air passengers will now have to travel with Iberia if they want to fly to Madrid, with ticket prices costing around 250 euros return.

Luckily there are viable alternatives for anyone travelling between Asturias and Madrid.

RENFE are now running high speed AVE trains between Asturias and Madrid Chamartin, with a journey time of around four and a half hours. The first train leaves Oviedo at 7.43am, and arrives in the capital shortly after 12.30 - ensuring business travellers arrive in Madrid in plenty of time for a lunch appointment.

There are two trains daily going the other way, one leaves Madrid at around 2pm, and the other at 6.30pm. The AVE service also stops at Gijon and Mieres stations in Asturias.

When you consider the time involved in getting to the airport, checking in and getting from the airport at the other side, the AVE journey time is bearable. The trains are comfortable, with plenty of room for a laptop on the tray table although there are no power sockets in standard class. The average cost of a return ticket in standard class is around 77 euros.

Bus company Alsa also operate more than ten bus services between Asturias and Madrid daily, with an average journey time of five and a quarter hours and average cost of around 60 euros for a standard service. Passengers also have the choice of a Supra class bus on this route, which offers increased leg room, power sockets and a wi-fi connection. Prices increase to around 100 euros return for the Supra service.

Work started this week on the construction of a new tunnel to decrease the AVE journey time between Asturias and Madrid to just 3 hours, but travellers will have to wait a few years yet for the work to be completed.

Yesterday, I've tried to give it a try again. I've downloaded all utilities/drivers from alsa project. After installing alsa-driver, alsamixer started to work and my sound started to work.

Today, all of a sudden my sound lost again. It was saying that the device was busy. I've found the solution in the web:

You should use lsof to find out what application keeps /dev/snd/pcmC0D1p
(or /dev/dsp1 is you use OSS emulation) opened.

I've figured out openoffice.org was using the sound card (I was reading a presentation). I've closed the presentation and it started to work again.

In windows, you never get such a problem!! Why more than one program can not use the same sound card. That is a stupid problem IMO.

Perhap the original box I installed Arch on just wasn't i686 enough for it.

If you have movies with 5.1 or 4 channels, e.g. DVD, Blue-Ray etc. You can listen all this channels in you headphones! Without any expensive sound system.

Our Realtek chip which is installed in FW series have Virtual Surround technology based on HRTF.

Windows drivers have a switch to enable it in settings. But for Ubuntu it's a little bit different. Ubuntu have ALSA audio system/drivers and have special plugin for HRTF which is not installed by default. You need to install alsa plugins package "libasound2-plugins". Then open/create a file in your home directory named ".asoundrc" and type this text inside:

type vdownmix
slave.pcm "default"
}
pcm.!surround40 {
type vdownmix
slave.pcm "default"
}

Now if player using all channels, vdownmix plugin downmix all channels into 2.

Here is how to enable all channels in SMPlayer (based on MPlayer). Goto Option->Preferences, on the left select General, select Audio tab and change there Channels by default to 6.

P.S. You can test surround with this command in terminal speaker-test -Dsurround51 -c6 -l1 -twav. This will make sound for each channel.

Nada más iniciar KDE me aparecía un mensaje que ya me resultaba familiar de instalaciones anteriores:

Para solucionarlo basta con instalar el paquete alsa-base y ejecutar alsaconf:

debian:/# aptitude install alsa-base
debian:/# alsaconf

Durante el proceso de instalación el asistente nos mostrará una lista con los dispositivos de sonido encontrados en el sistema, así que únicamente tendremos que seleccionar el correspondiente a nuestra tarjeta de sonido para que funcione correctamente.

Igen, mint azt észre lehetett venni, újból nem írtam, elég sokáig. Ennek különböző okai is voltak, többek között az pl., hogy amikor külföldön voltam, nem volt nálam a Linux DVD-m, ezért Windows-t kellett feltennem, amit gyorsan szerváltam az egyik helyi boltban párszáz Ft-ért... Érdekes megoldás volt, de muszály volt egy oprendszer a gépemre. Amikor hazaértem, akkor pedig már lusta voltam megint újratenni a gépemet. De! most, hogy megint elegem lett abból a k*kiból, úgy döntöttem, nem érdekel, folytatom a Linuxozást. Úgy látszik, hogy akit egyszer a Linux világa beszív, annak nincs menekvés =).
Tegnap feltettem az új SUSE 11.0-t. Viszonylag nagy reményekkel indítottam a telepítést, hiszen ebben már egy új kernel is van, aminek köszönhetően talán pár, korábban fellépő software hiba megszűnik. Hát, 1-2 valóban megszűnt, de el kell még sakkoznom vele egy darabig, hogy mégis mit csinálhatnék, hogy a lapostoppomban a beépített hangszórókat kapcsolja ki a gép, amikor bedugok egy jack-et. Sajnos, ez a hiba az alsa mixerben és az OSS-ben is fent áll, akárhogy húzogatom a csúszkákat a mixerekben, semmiképpen nem működik. Most egyik ismerősöm segít ebben a dologban, remélem, sikerrel le tudjuk küzdeni. Ha nem, akkor sem esek hasra, mert nem használom egyenlőre nagyon filmnézésre, végképp nem játékra (nem mintha nem akarnám, csak nem sok időm van rá).
Mondjuk, ez már nem a Linux bug-ja, de érdekes módon behalt a modemem mire feltettem a Linuxot... nem tudom miért nem tetszett neki a dolog, de estére meg jó lett... Ami elég érdekes =D. Na mindegy, csak érdekességképpen leírtam =).
Tehát, ezentúl nem Ubunturól, hanem SUSE-ról fogok írni. Remélem, az is lesz olyan népszerű, és hasznos, mist az Ubuntus blogom. Mindenesetre vannak olyan dolgok, amik mindkét rendszerben megegyeznek, úgyhogy szerintem akik Ubit használnak, és nem SUSE-t, atól még fellátogathatnak néha-néha, hátha lett valami újdonság az ő számukra is =).

Lo primero de todo, instalamos ALSA (Advanced Linux Sound Architecture, Arquitectura de Sonido Avanzada para Linux). Para ello, instalamos los paquetes alsa-base y alsa-utils desde los repositorios oficiales de Ubuntu.

A continuación, en Sistema->Preferencias->Sonido, elegir ALSA en todas las opciones (en lugar de autodetectar). En la pestaña sonidos deshabilitamos "Reproducir sonidos del sistema" y dejamos habilitado "Activar mezcla de sonidos por software (ESD)".

Ahora en Synaptic, marcar "esound" para ser instalado y "pulseaudio" para eliminar. "pulseaudio-esound-compat" y "ubuntu-desktop" quedarán automáticamente marcados para su desinstalación.

Aplicamos los cambios y reiniciamos. Listo, problema solucionado.

Seit einigen Monaten plagt mich das Problem, dass ich die Lautstärke meines ArchLinux-Systems nicht mehr vernünftig steuern kann, wenn die Audiausgabe über ALSA läuft.
Bei jeder Lautstärkeänderung springen die Pegel hin und her, hoch und runter, und manchmal werden beide Kanäle einfach gemutet.

Nun wurde die Fehlerursache endlich gefunden und ein passender Patch geschrieben.

Nach der Kompilierung des Paketes gstreamer0.10-base-plugins funktioniert wieder alles wunderbar.

gnome-volume-control is bugging me for a long time now.
Some ArchLinux-users may also have this problem: The alsa-levels are bouncing / jumping when you try to change the volume with gnome-volume-control.

Today I found a post in the ArchLinux-forums with a patch for this problem.
Actually - this patch works! I can now use gnome-volume-control with my mouse wheel or the multimedia-keys on my keyboard.

RENFE are replacing the current TALGO service with a faster Alvia service. The 10.30am departure from Gijon will now arrive in Barcelona at around 9.30pm, saving 2 hours on the current journey time depsite customers having to change in Leon. The TALGO will also be replaced on the return journey from Barcelona to Gijon.

Non-TALGO services will not be impacted by the change, their journey times will remain the same. I have travelled on an Alvia service between Madrid and Asturias, and it was very comfortable. They have loads of leg room, wide aisles and a bar with hot food.

Personally, I would opt for the train over the bus every time for such a long journey. Unfortunately I have had no success using the RENFE website today to find the cost of the Alvia route, it seems the timetables on the English version of the website have not been updated to reflect the new service. The RENFE security certificate has expired for the search engine on the Spanish homepage, so I got not further with that either. The joys of booking online in Spain.....

I would advise anyone wanting to book a train ticket from RENFE to book over the phone, the phone number is 0034 902 24 02 02. Ask to speak to an English operator and you will be transferred.

The same journey by bus with ALSA takes 12.5 hours, the bus leaves Gijon at 8am and gets in to Barcelona North at 8.30pm. You can also do an overnight service leaving at 7.30pm and arriving at 8am the next day. The price for the bus is just under 100 euros.

Another note for anyone hoping to book online with ALSA - the website does not seem to work with Firefox, you need to use Internet Explorer to use the search engine on the homepage.

Bueno luego de bajar casi 400Mb (40min) de actualizaciones y luego (en este momento) la version 8.04 (1h 30min pero me faltan 6min) puedo decir que ubuntu se ve bonito, le puse activo los efectos de ventanas (Cuando las mueves parecen de gelatina xD), pronto voy a instalar programas de audio como Amarok y soporte para aplicaciones Windows como Wine

Por los momentos no puedo decirle mucho porque no lo he revisado completamente, solo les puedo decir que se ve anime cómodamente xD, ah les dejo unas imágenes de mi escritorio

--- Tengo una Toshiba Satellite L40/L45 y el audio se escuchaba feo y me puse a investigar y encontré una solución rápida, Primero se van al terminal (Aplicaciones > Accesorios > Terminal) y escriben el siguiente código

sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base

y luego de que pongan su clave para autorizar un archivo se va a abrir y al final de ese archivo vamos a poner este codigo:

options snd-hda-intel model=3stack

lo guardan y reinician.

A simple program that ships with Ubuntu that generates pink noise is speaker-test. It comes with the package alsa-utils.

Ahora la compartiré con ustedes, de seguro a más de uno le servirá...

El tutorial lo escribí yo, las imagenes las tomé prestadas de Forat ;).

Estando logeados en una terminal como root, lo primero es instalar el paquete de utilidades ALSA.

apt-get install alsa-utils

Cuando la instalación haya finalizado, ejecutamos el comando de configuración automatica:

alsaconf

Aparecerá esta pantalla de bienvenida:

Usando el tabulador le damos en OK.

Aquí nos muestra las tarjetas que tenemos en nuestro pc, en caso de no mostrar mas que Legacy, elegimos esta y procedemos a seleccionar el tipo de drivers que deseemos probar, esto no creo que necesite explicación, simplemente probará los drivers y luego pasará al proximo paso como si ubiesemos seleccionado cualquier otra tarjeta.

Aquí pulsamos YES, nos aparecerá otra pantalla diciendonos que el asistente ha finalizado, le damos en OK y pronto volveremos al terminal el cual mostrará como se cargan los drivers...

Ahora nuestra tarjeta de sonido deberá estar lista para funcionar, de no ser así basta con reiniciar ;).

Una vez descargado, le damos permisos de ejecución y lo ejecutamos:

A continuación reiniciamos y listo.

2. remove all pulseaudio-related packages
   sudo apt-get remove libasound2-plugins "pulseaudio-*" paman padevchooser paprefs pavucontrol pavumeter
3. restart sound system /etc/init.d/alsa-utils restart
4. restart Firefox.

The number of the card (0 in my case) can be found this way:
